Oneplus x camera / Moto g 2015 - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So both of these phones got 13mp rear sensors. Though moto g got its from nexus 6 with f/2.0 aperture which was pretty good and opx got Samsung isocell with f/2.2 aperture which is capable of capturing great images in low light as well.
Is moto g with $200 price tag a better camera phone than opx with $250 ?
Clearly opx pisses on moto g in performance aspect.
So what do u guys think ?
PS. I own both the devices and front camera seems better in opx.

Back cam will get better in OnePlus X with an update.. Definitely OpX cam is better
Send from my OnePlus X

What I found is that in low light conditions my OPX takes forever to take a photo. I tap to focus and then the shutter but I takes a lot of time to focus again before actually take the photo. Is that the same on the moto g and on your OPX? I run Mokee ROK btw but it was same on Oxygen OS I think.

Moto g3 is quite snappy in taking pic in low light that's why I was unhappy with the camera experience after spending more bucks.
Pics taken with opx are grainy as hell and videos (oml!!) , they are soo laggy at 10 or 15fps!
In low light: moto g 2015 >>> opx
Hope they will solve this issue in the January ota update.
Hit thanks if I helped please☺

Check my post with panaramas shots from OPX. 4 me its great!

Daylight pictures are indeed very great and bright with an amazing detail. It's just the low light images I'm concerned about. Despite having the isocell sensor renowned for it's low light imaging, I can't see much difference between opx and my moto e?
Hit thanks if I helped please☺

[Q] Camera issue??

hey guys i just bought moto e few days back and lately i have noticed the fact that the camera snaps of moto E of a text are really poor.I mean for a landscape scenic day light photos its fine but for texts like newspapers, books etc its barely readable....
i am attaching the camera shot of a small size newspaper ET Wealth in a daylight indoor environment. As you can see the text is really washed out and can't be read!!
Am i the only one facing this issue??? are u having a similar problem?? Or is it this way in moto E?? (same 5MP performs in moto G performs brilliantly and text is quite clear in the photographs!!)
please do share your snaps of text and do reply or assist....i appreciate your help...

Moto E doesn't have auto-focus, it cannot focus on small elements like text or on macro shots.Unfortunately, thats the case and there's nothing you can do to avoid it.
Moto G has a different camera, yes they are both 5MP and have same UI but that's where similarities end.So don't compare the two.

I also face this as Moto E camera is bad but turning on HDR Mode is slightly Good.
Try taking Pictures of notes or reading papers with HDR Mode on
I use this Method only..
no auto focus on moto e

there is no auto focus on moto e whick means moto e with 5mp camera has fixed focus, so it takes pretty much decent photos in light, nut when it comes to taking snaps of small things like txt or some small elements the camera fails. moto e has poor camera quality so have to compromise here. i have 2 moto e devices both have same poor camera quality as it is a budget mobile, and even my friends have the same so no need to worry still moto e is worth it's the money paid for it. so enjoy .
ATTENTION: don't forget to hit thanks meter.

OnePlus X or HTC M8 in camera ?

Hi guys, so im about to buy one of those devices, Oneplus X or M8, i live both phones, but i still dont know which is better in camera, so if someone own both phones, tell me which one is better ?
The M8 takes better rear camera images in terms of color and saturation and low light performance. The OnePlus X images have more detail and are sharper and it has a better front camera.

It's not AS good. It's about as good as the M8 Eye I'd say. If camera is a priority is go for the M8. But the X is not bad.

The OPX is a great phone and excellent if you want a new phone. The M8 however has better resale value, better speakers and better software optimisation. Also the camera takes good pictures IMO. So the real question would be whether you want a new phone or are OK with a refurbished phone IMO. Also, all of the Xs strong points like build, screen, etc. are matched by the M8. The X wins in bezels and size though. It's thinner. And smaller. And has a much better screen to body ratio. I think it looks better overall too.

im ok with refurbished phone, i used M7 like that, but i love opx design , and M8 is heavy and its big, however if i can expect almost the same pictures on my opx like m8 then its prety ok, ill go for OPX
Hey there, definitely the OnePlus X. Had an M8 and besides the specs, the pictures on the OnePlus X are way better. Color, light and crispness are not comparable, its just wayyy better.

Photo quality

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the LG G6 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
This camera is amazing. Sometimes the LG camera gets the white point a little off. For example, if you're in a restaurant with a lot of red lamps, it may read as a warmer setting. This is something that can be adjusted manually (and easily fixed in an image editor)
I feel like some of the details are "smoothed" out, but I don't know if that has to do with the camera as much as the app. It's not necessarily bad. If you take micro shots, it's more noticeable, this smoothing effect. It may be a setting in the camera... if you want crisp shots, it's certainly feasible. For example, I was taking up close shots of the fabric of the clothes I am wearing. However, sometimes it is hard to get the camera app to focus on the right thing. It's worse the closer you are to the subject. However it can definitely focus up-close with the non-wide angle camera, though I think a bit less than my Samsung S5 used to be able to do. If you need textures for graphic design work, it's definitely feasible though.
Camera does do some heavy post processing. You can tell when you zoom in.
First Picture is using Stock Camera Auto Mode
2nd Picture is using OpenCamera Camera2 API Auto Mode
3rd Picture is using RAW OpenCamera Camera2 API Auto Mode
I think the wide angle is garbage for landscape shots. Click on photo and zoom in a bit you'll install see what I'm talking about. I love wide angle for closer you shots though. 2nd photo of fire is really just to show why u love the manual settings.
Does anyone use any other camera application to unlock the full potential of this camera? coming from the Galaxy s6 edge, I really liked their camera application and was easy to access the more advanced settings (iso, exposure, ect...) this camera allows that but it makes it very difficult and is overly complicated when those settings are finally available.

Using a camera app other than LG's own stock camera app will most likely result in poorer quality images. LG specifically optimizes their app to take advantage of the phone's hardware to the fullest potential.
Thus why if you ever flash a non-stock-based ROM, you will find that your camera is just not as good as before.

The manual option gets easier when you figure out how to use it.. You'll be able to get some great pics with it.

Yeah... other then the stock App. for Camera results in lower quality photos like when i use the Z-Camera App. which is great for Editing but other then that use stock
I really like the camera, feels like an upgrade from G5, but too bad there's no 13mp 16-9 mode
Why is nobody here talking about the front camera? The rear camera has a horrible oversharpening effect and the front camera is plain trash (normal & wide both). What I further do not understand is why the 13MP mode doesn't have a 16:9 or 18:9 ratio. Clicking pictures in 4:3 on this already narrower display is a mediocre experience. With the G6 camera being ported to the G4 already, I do not find a single advantage having the G6 over G4 for still photography (both manual & auto). Why are people being irrational and praising a sub-par camera setup on the G6?
I just got my Indian G6 (64GB & Quad-DAC). I am coming from an LG G4 (H818N) and I haven't been impressed by the cameras. The display on the G6 is better, the design & ergonomics are better, the build quality is exceptional too. But if you have used a G4 or an S7e or an iPhone 7, you will not like the cameras on this one.
For anyone reading this who is out to buy a new device, if you prefer a good smartphone camera you will be let down. Go for a Pixel or S7e or S8/S8+ for better camera performance.

I have a Xiaomi Mi5 too. What I did notice for sure is that the Mi5's front camera is way better that the one on the G6. Also, the back one seems better on low light conditions. The one on the G6 seems to "lag" in stand-by mode. On the G6 : the main camera is having exposure and saturation issues, the wide angle one has oversharpening issues. I don't know what everyone are praising about... I sure hope they will fix some issues with the next updates.
I kinda feel sorry I didn't chose the S7 Edge.

You are still talking about a recently launched device. The G6 front camera is worse than my good old G2 and S4. I have a Oneplus 3 in my house whose front camera is way better than this S#! T on G6. How I wish we had return policies here in India. Very disappointed. I am done with LG atleast for this life time! ?

Yeah, the full resolution isn't cropped like the 16:9 one.. You can open it in an app and do the cropping yourself.

Hmm. I'm getting a little confused. I was considering buying the Huawei p10, because I want to use my mobile more, for taking pictures. Then the LG G6 is on a discount, making the G6 almost as cheap as a Huawei p10. And some reviewers says that the G6 camera is better than the P10 also in low light.

If you do not care about the front camera, the G6 is probably the best phone for you. But if you do care about the selfies and also want exceptional quality stills, I'd suggest going with the Pixel or Pixel XL.

LG V30 i need some info..

Hi to all,
This phone look so good. I have OP5 and i want better phone with better camera. I have some questions:
1. Slow motion - is the same 120fps at 720p or it is 240fps at 1080p?
2. Time Lapse - can it record at 4K? At which speed? ( x6, x10, x36 etc...)
3. Is there a portrait mode?
4. Point zoom - can it be use in time laps?
I see many videos but i really cant find slow motion and time laps.
And if you can chose between wide angle and telephoto x2 what will you chose?
P. S. Did you think the LG V30 have good zoom that doesn't lost so much details when you zoom x2 or x8?
It's 720p @120fps
Time lapse won't be at 4k for any Android
No portrait mode as no telephoto lense.
I will go with wide angle any day as I am into taking pics that can gather larger data ( field of view) and not much into taking pics of people ( telephoto is basically and better used for this)
Thx a lot for answer. Too bad that V30 (multimedia phone) didn't have 240fps.
I have a new question, did V30 have same hardware front face camera like LG G6? Because G6 have very bad front face camera.

Hi I don't have the phone but trying to get as much information about it as possible, as far as I understand the front camera is exactly the same module as the G6, it's basic, and selfie lovers as well as bloggers are supposed to be using the rear camera instead. For front camera performance the HTC U11 as well as the Nokia 8 phones are recommended.

I don't know if it is the "exact" same camera, but every review I've seen says it inferior to most if not all the other flagship phones (S8, note 8, U11, iPhone and so on).
It a bit of a let down, but I don't really use the front camera, so not a big deal to me.

The Front 32 Mp Camera is so bad, I don't know why....Even poco F1 did amazing job compared to that.

Yeah sad truth 2019 flagship:crying:
But the video graphy is awesome and the video is crisp and more detail:good:
The front camera is fixed at infinity! When i take close photos they are not that sharp. But they are sharp when the stretch the hand a little.
