Finger print issue. - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This issue is killing my phone. I dont use incipio case to use fingerprint. And i dropped it second time yesterday. Already got some dints too. Just because i cant use my 35 dollar case. I am getting my nerves.
Att already fixed issue. I hope they will fix it soon.

Sorry you've dropped your phone...?. There a temporary fix with foil on YouTube. Also I saw something about restart the setting of your fingerprints with the case on. Hope this helps...

Mine does work, albeit not well, with my Spigen TPU case. Seems I get better results if I squeeze the sides with more of my hand, like cup the phone a bit differently. Still a pain compared to no case, but at least I don't need any ugly foil ruining the looks of my crystal clear case.

What do you think of this case/screen protector combo?

Hi, this is my first thread so far I've been doing a lot of research about my phone, figured it was a good deal, and purchased the Tmobile version. I've been looking for a case even before I bought it, but it seems there isn't a perfect case out there simply because of the sliding keyboard. Well I was just using my TP2 about an hour ago and as I was using the stylus to scroll down in opera, I heard "SCRAPE!" ...my ears said "WTF!?!?! NO!!!!" and i quickly realized what had just happened. Never thought it was possible but whatever. Anyways, I've had the phone for 6 days or so and I plan to exchange it tomorrow.
This has definitely motivated me to find a case and screen protector and end the headache. So I've came up with the following from reading some threads the past hour, but I want to be sure before I order. So far I have this case
http://cgi.ebay.com/Clear-Hard-Skin...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item45ef91bf67
and these screen protector (boxwave Crystal or Anti-glare)
Crystal
http://www.boxwave.com/products/cle...screen-protector-t-mobile-touch-pro2_3668.htm
Anti-glare
http://www.boxwave.com/products/cleartouch/cleartouch-screen-protector-t-mobile-touch-pro2_3668.htm
I'm still searching as I don't want to purchase something and regret it, but let me know what you guys think. I've heard good things about the plastic case, but overall I'm looking for quality, but no more than $45 for case. Much appreciated
EDIT: DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A SCREEN PROTECTOR IN THE BOX

It was 2000 the first time I experienced that. It was a palm m500 and a little piece of dust got on the tip of my stylus. I didn't hear it so much as I felt the friction, but my reaction was much the same. I haven't gone without a screen protector since.
As to the included screen protector, use it if it works for you, but you'll typically find better durability in popular protectors like the boxwaves you linked to or clarivues. The clarivue that I put on my Palm TX in 2005 is still on it, and still looks good.
The thing I worry about with a lot of those no name brand cases on ebay is how well do they really fit? The last thing you want is to have them falling off. I don't know if my fear is well-founded or not, but I didn't really want to gamble on it. But as far as TMo goes, I'm not sure what to tell you. Boxwave actually has a pretty cool soft case called the praetorian crystal slip, but not for the TMo version. Seidio seems like a nice quality joint, but they don't seem to make their innocase for the TMo version either.
Edit: I suppose you could check this thread out.
I had the acrylic case with screen protector and I removed it shortly after purchasing. The porblem I had is that the screen protector is superficial and although it works sometimes when I typed certain virtual keys another part of the screen protector would also bend down on my press and caused for a different near by character to be pressed. Eventually I got rid of it and just purchased a seperate screen protector.
I really am looking for quality though for a case, just want something that's not too big or will not hinder usage of the phone. I've heard a lot about the ghost armoring and all. I'm considering it, but that will not save a phone from a fall or anything like that.
Consider an all-body protector (such as zagg or bodyguardz), combined with a pouch or holster case that you remove the device from to use it.
This is my preferred method, so my TP2 is well protected when it's not in use, and I'm completely unhindered when I am using it (but still with scratch protection).
Note that the protectors need to be applied very slowly and carefully to make sure they're lined up well and properly stuck down around the edges.

I have the same clear hard plastic case and absolutely love it. I've tried the body glove case, and had some issues with sliding the keyboard in and out. I just use the screen protector that came with the phone, and the clear hard plastic case. No problems at all, though I still have to take the case off every once in a while to clean it, but you'd have to do that with any case really. Get a lot of compliments on it.

It really doesn't add much bulk at all. I did have the body glove case, and it definitely added a lot of bulk. I keep my phone in my pocket now, but it's def worth the buy.

So it fits alright eh? The bodyglove one didn't seem to snap on correctly, and all the other ones I've seen fit so tight that it tends to seperate the screen portion from the keyboard portion...no issues with fitment for the tmobile version? Can you post a picture of how it looks with the clear case?
I just ordered some phantom skinz, I'll report back when they get here.

I think it fits better than the body glove case. Plus, it looks way better. I've had mine for a while now with no problems. Even take it off a bit to clean it up, and no issues. Check my old thread out...Have pics on post #5.

Recommended: SlingGrip (ThingSling), great for small hands!

Hi guys!
First off, no, I am not affiliated with, nor being paid by SlingGrip to write this. But I do want to share this great little product since I haven't seen anyone else mention it for this phone.
When I first got my Note 3, I wanted something to supplement the one-handed mode that would help me use the phone with one hand. I looked at a few different solutions, but the SlingGrip caught my eye because it was pretty inexpensive and made in the US. I ordered a purple one and waited while it and my case came in.
All the SlingGrip is, is a small elastic strap that you can hook your fingers in to give you a more secure hold on the phone. I got it, peeled it off the card it comes on, and stuck it right to the back of my case. It holds very securely with a 3M glue strip. It does add a fair bit to the thickness of the phone and keeps it from lying flat on a table, but this was a non-issue for me. The plastic and elastic strip feel pretty good, and it's such a simple combo that I don't forsee it breaking under normal use.
This was a godsend for using the phone with one hand. I ended up not even using the one-handed mode on the phone, with this I can reach the entire screen without feeling like I will drop the phone!
I just ordered a three-pack since I got a new case, and I highly recommend checking it out!

Nice. As someone with elfin hands, this looks quite useful. Looks like I'll be doing some cheapskate crafting later :3
Approximately how big is the mounting square for these things? I'm really intrigued by these add-on holders (sling grip, iring, flygrip, etc) but the UAG case I have has all kinds of funky grooves and designs on the back. :x
Yeah, I was turned off by the grooves on the UAG case for just that reason. I'm guessing that the slinggrip is longer than the center part where the logo is...

I feel like you'd be much better off just getting a lanyard. There are cases that allow lanyard attachments and they're a lot easier to use, just throw it on your wrist.

Lanyards don't help with holding the phone at all. All that does is catch the phone when you've already lost your grip.

Pitting/surface scratches

Curious how everyone else's phones have been holding up so far. The back of my phone is covered in little specks, which appear to be from pitting and minor surface scratches. It's very disappointing since I've had my phone permanently in a case since I've had it. I'm wondering if the metal is just so soft that little vibrations while in the case is causing marks.
I'm hoping there's a way I can get them out but seeing as it has a brushed finish, I don't see it being all that easy.
That's indeed pretty surprising (marks with a case on). I would think the only way this would be possible, is if there was some grit or sand between the case and the device. If this were in fact true, I can see it rubbing on the finish over time (as others here have also mentioned). Even so, the scratches would probably just be in isolated areas, not for the back to be covered in scratches, unless there was grit captured everywhere inside the case. Which is very unlikely, as you would have noticed that.
The other possibility is scratches from a hard plastic case (you haven't mentioned what kind you have). Again, this is something that some folks on here have observed. But folks have mentioned scratches in a few isolated locations (like the edges) not covering the back.
I have had a cheap soft TPU case on my M8 for a month and a half, and not a single visible scratch on the back, that I can find.
The dirt/sand certainly makes sense. But I've repeatedly taken out the case and cleaned it, and it appears like I'm getting more of these. The case, is a soft tpu clear case.
Further, I only rarely use this case once a day for an hour when I go to the gym. The rest of the time my phone sits in my leather pouch, which I KNOW there's no way that's scratching it.
It certainly shouldn't be getting marked up like this from such careful use. I'll try to post pics later.

Sorry for the linked images. You can download them to see full size. It's very difficult to capture up close. But you can see the specks all ordier the phone.

Anyone? I'm wondering if there's a defect in my casing and if I should ask for a new one or not. Combined with my letters falling out my resale value is definitely going to hurt by this.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Haven's seen anyone else complain about this. Its especially weird, since you have a case on the phone. I can only guess the finish is delaminating or falling off, regardless if any external wear/contact is present or not.
I'd say its a warranty issue, between this and the letters coming off. But you won't get a new one. AT&T's policy is that you get a refurb after 14 days of purchase. And I've heard mixed reports on the refurbs (on past devices). Some are indistinguishable from new; while others are beat up, or may even have some hardware issues that weren't fixed properly.
A refurb is exactly what I'm afraid of. I don't want to trade in a phone with cosmetic issues for one with potentially worse issues. Any way of getting them to send a new one? AT&T has been nothing short of great for me in the past but Idk about getting a new phone replacement.

Its not in their policy. But you can always ask . . . than complain, kick and scream, etc.
Its also not in their policy to let folks switch to another brand/model. But I've seen that happen when folks complain enough. Highlight how long you've been a customer, if you have multiple lines, etc. Not sure if they have ever sent out brand new phones for warranty claims. But it sure doesn't hurt to try.
Just thought I'd add, I'm having the exact same issue with the Google Play Edition in a clear TPU case too! Were you using a Spigen case by any chance?

Wow, strange, mine too, exact same case. I took the case off the other day to clean it, it was looking nasty, and sure enough there was like some kind of grit in there. I bet that's what's doing it. Of course that's the least of my worries, it fell out of my pocket and I ran this thing over with my tractor, and crushed the side so far that I had to pry out the volume buttons, they were stuck, lol, had tire marks across the screen even. This thing is a tough phone!

Haha, very nice. Good to hear it'll survive a tractor lol. I feel like I should leave a review on that case. It seems to be flawed if it's allowing grit in. I'd consider my use quite typical, not near any sand or dirt. I'm pretty sure that lost me $100 in resellability.

Scratched rim around the screen - any tips?

Guys, I need help. I've bought a used RAZR HD a month and a half ago and it was in a very good condition. 9/10, maybe even 9.5. had just a scratch or two on the rim around the screen.
Since then, I've dropped it onto concrete two times and on both occasions in went corner down, so now I've got two completely wrecked corners. Nothing else is broken, it's all fine, the kevlar back is pretty much mint, the screen is great, it's just that rim that is now completely ruining the look of the phone...
Did anyone face the same problem and what have you done to fix it, if anything? The only idea I've got now is to sand down the rim to be at level with the screen, that would possibly make it look good again. Naturally, I'd be very careful as to not scratch the screen...
Can that rim be replaced anyway? I'll check out the disassembly guides and videos now to see whether it goes together with the screen...
I'm so annoyed right now. The second drop happened minutes ago... God flipping damn it. The problem is that Moto's have not been widely used here in Serbia for years now and that makes the availability of any equipment for them more than scarce. I'll be ordering a universal case right now (the one in which you slide the phone in and out) but I'd still love to make it look good again.
Flipping damn it
*edit*
According to this video... It's glued very very strongly together - http://youtu.be/LfAyttf6fWU
That's just great... And I can't even find a silicon case, be it no name or branded, to cover it all up. Will see if I can order anything from across the border.

Was this with a case on the phone or with the phone not in a case? Just curious as I have my phone in a case and have dropped it on the corner and no issue like you describe. In fact, no scratches at all.

This would be it, right - http://youtu.be/Eg5qkRCm5pU ? But, doesn't it turn what is already a quite a big phone into a massive one? Because it certainly seems so I'm guessing this cannot fit a pocket of any sort of pants? But it does seem to offer outstanding protection. Alas, at what a price, both functionality and monetary-wise (the price is $40+ on amazon?)... But even if I wanted to spend that amount of money on a case, I'd have to keep my fingers crossed for probably no less than a month, hoping that it will eventually arrive, intact and without many additional fees. Third world problems...
Thanks for the advice, anyway! I might pick up the Commuter edition, it seems more reasonable for my needs

yes thats it, im in construction so i went with defender, my sister has commuter and it seems to offer a level of protection for most peoples uses (2-3 foot drops) and yes it does make the phone bigger so if thats a concern i would go with commuter, also the screen protector on the defender is part of the case but with the commuter its a stick on screen protector if that matters to you( i can never get those to go on without wrinkles) i beleieve the 40 $ ones are the black ones bc otterbox stopped making them i bought a black one for 20$ 6 months ago

Here's what I have (well, it's the same style but mine is a Body Glove that I purchased from Walmart but I cannot find it anywhere online):
http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Mat...9233999&sr=8-2&keywords=motorola+razr+hd+case
It's worked well so far. I've dropped my phone a couple of times, once face down and maybe two times on the side and/or corner, and my phone has been protected.
Overall, it adds a little bulk, but nothing like an Otterbox. I can put this into my pants pockets without much issue.

This is very much like the generic cases available here for most smartphones, priced at $2-3. Would you say that your case has a premium quality and is worth the higher price? Because I've found those generic ones available together with free shipping on eBay. But I know how lousy their protection and appearance are, so I'm still weighing my options.

Again, that is not exactly the case I have, but I purchased it at a Walmat department store for about $14.
It feels rubbery and it's flexible when the phone is not in it. Mine says "Body Glove" on it but I cannot find it on their site (they don't list any cases for the Droid RAZR HD).
Overall, I wouldn't say it's premium quality (not like I had with my Otterbox cases for my OG RAZR MAXX that I used to own), but it does seem to do the job for me. As I said, I've dropped the phone face down with the case I have (which is similar to the one I linked to on Amazon) and the phone came out unscathed. It was about a three foot drop onto the concrete floor in my garage if that gives any indication.

Another vote to the Diztronic - it would cover that damage and will prevent the same type of damage when you drop it again. Mine has lived in one of these since I got it and gets tossed around all the time. Has landed face first a few times and has not skipped a beat thanks to the raised lip.

Thanks, mate. The Diztronic looks wonderful compared to the chinese "s-line" thing I bought because of free shipping... It's just crap and it doesn't even cover the edges properly - the left one is fine, but it cannot stay on top of the right one. Check the picture for illustration. I'll be sure to get the Diztronic one in the future. Can you just tell me whether its rubberised or is it just the matte finish making it look as if though it were? Because it looks like it is and that it's insanely sticky and that I wouldn't be able to stick it in my pocket, but I guess it's just the matte finish

Yeah I am debating on getting it. I've been through 4 glass screen protectors already though and I'm hesitant to spend more at this point. Right now I am running Illumishield maximum coverage aquashield with a commuter and its working out very well.
I ordered one and will be here tomorrow. My concern is how do you remove it if you want to replace it? That glue they use looks like Bondic. Bondic is a UV activated glue that hardens under the UV light and is incredibly strong. Before i apply it i need to find out what it is and if i can be easily removed if it breaks or gets all scratched up.

Bondic is a UV activated glue that hardens under the UV light and is incredibly strong. Before i apply it i need to find out what it is and if i can be easily removed if it breaks or gets all scratched up.

Very good point. Thanks for the info on the glue. According to the mfg, it can be removed., but the referenced scraping method would destroy the LCD glass.
"How can Bondic® be removed from smooth surfaces?
We recommend the use of scrapers. Giving the Bondic® a short, sharp shove from the side dislodges it cleanly from the base. Any remnants left behind can be easily removed with conventional cleaners."
They also mention using chemical agents. I've used acetone in the past to dislodge epoxy off my eyeglasses lenses, and it worked very well. It may be worth contacting them and ask more info.

When they mention scrapers, my assumption would be that they are referring to plastic tools/scrapers (think drywall spackle applicator). If this is the case, then you would need to be Hercules to damage Gorilla Glass with a plastic utensil.
If you have ever removed paint over spray from glass windows, then you'll understand my thinking. The paints sticks like glue, but one solid push in a single direction removes it fully with no residue.

After reading this, I may return mine when I get it tomorrow. Not sure I want to risk not being able to cleanly remove it. I usually keep my phones for about a year and then sell them and I don't want to not be able to easily remove this thing.

Just to clarify, I don't think that it's anywhere near this difficult. I was just responding to the post I quoted who was talking about damaging their screen because the company mentioned scrapers. The protector and all is residue is supposed to be able to be removed with nothing but force, and "household cleaners" if any residue remains.
Mine arrived today. Haven't opened it. Debating whether I want to apply it since my IQ Shield full body is already perfectly applied. May wait for more feedback or I might get really bored and just apply it.
