HTC Desire 620, no root, no CM ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
first at all, I'm sorry if my English is bad, I'll try to be clear as possible.
So, I do this thread because I'm a bit confused, I have a HTC Desire 620 since 2 month and I'm really surprised because it seems that nobody is working on it. This phone has pretty decent specs (5" 720p S-LCD screen, Quadcore 1,2Ghz, 1Gb Ram, 8Gb ROM) and you can found it in my country, France, for only 1€.
So I have some questions :
Why is this phone so unpopular ?
Is there a way to root it ?
Do you know if someone will port Cyanogenmod on this phone ? :highfive: This might be cool.
From my opinion, this phone deserves more support from the community !
Thanks in advance for your answers, cordially.

Why someone has bad rated this topic?
I'm just asking some questions, this device would be perfect with Cyanogenmod.

Porting OS on Omnia hd

hi i've got a samsung omnia hd i8910... i think that symbian sucks and i've seen that there are a lot of porting for other mobile phone. so i ask you: can you create a way to install wp7 or android on i8910? the hardware of this phone is not bad and now there is also the overclock made by HyperX (up to 900MHz) .. so, someone can try to find a way to upgrade this phone to a really OS ? sorry for my bad english.
please help us, we are a lot with this problem!
up... please help us!
up please... help
hello everybody!
i am an omnia hd's owner too!
i think this smartphone is superb!the only limit is the symbian 5th O.S. infact i'd like to know why samsung team put this instead of android and didn't released any important update.
if android porting isn't possible, anyway i hope symbian 3^.
thanks for any help in advance!
i've knew that in past the problem was the boot loader. but i've read also that it was unlocked.
so where is the problem now?
the cpu is the OMAP3430 so i think that there is no problem to a android porting because the motorola droid has it too...
or maybe a porting of the maemo os, infact n900 has a OMAP3430.
help us... we want that our phone rise again, because we paid it a lot not so time ago.. and it has a very good hardware...
AFAIK No one else on this forum has one and no one is going to buy one to dev for you unless you donate.
i will donate if you could find codec dark edition room for me
I have this now. Great phone. I still use it mostly for the speakers.
I would love to see Symbian 3 Belle on. It's near impossible I guess. I wish Samsung had not ditched dual speakers.
Samsung really bombed this phone. A little more wide spread release and support with update to later versions of Symbian and it would have been soooo much better.

This is really a great device. Amazing price-quality ratio. I just bought one as a second phone and I'm very happy with it.
Performance is comparable to Samsung Galaxy S+ but with a nice 4.3 screen.
And Alcatel has promised an ICS update so fingers crossed.
@ whigga: yeah, it's really a great device with such cheap price. it's a steal!
hopefully devs can look into this phone. it's something like LG Optimus X2 of some sort.
Available here now for $280
I really like the 4.3" over my 4.1" phones,
Strange they made no 850MHz 3G units for countries that have the stronger frequency like Australia, USA, Thailand, China etc... for those that dont know 850MHz can penetrate into buildings to allow better indoor reception.
Just like to bump this thread. Any update of development?
Heey guys!
I just bought this phone 2 days ago, after my Galaxy Gio died 1,5 week ago.
I'm very happy to hear there are more satisfied users of the OT-995 who want a custom rom and XDA thread
Let's hope a good developer will also get this beautifull device!
By the way: does someone know a good way to root the Alcatel OT-995?
@ markvann: that remains the question. I still got an unrooted OT-995. tried those rooting procs, nothing works atm.

Hello Petalotis!
I just looked, and it seems there is not 512mb ram. It's exactly the same as it is with Xperia Neo V I guess, because my telephone says there's something like 370 mb ram. Normally I'm a heavy device user (except for my last one, the Galaxy Gio), but I have to say this smartphone can handle all the apps I want. I'm really happy with it, and on Quadrant Standard benchmark it even scores better than Galaxy Nexus (and on Antutu they have around the same amount of points). So I hope you don't get fooled by the 'not-so-high' amount of ram, and that you can participate in searching for OT-995 root methodes and ROMs!

I want to buy a new Android phone and this one catch my attention, i have a ZTE Blade and want to upgrade .
The launch of this phone in my country (Portugal) will be in 7 of May with the name of "Optimus Madrid" and the price maybe would be €229,90, i was searching here if anyone begun to developing custom roms to him, will be an asset.
+1 for development of this device
also I would ask the people who bought this device if they try to connect mouse or keyboard in mini usb gate ?
already seen a guide to do this in galaxy s (in this forum). Hub must accept external power because there isnt enough power in mini usb
is it possible that this works ? can you try to connect keyboard and mouse in hub or a usb flash
i would appreciate that
thank you very much
I also have the alcatel ot-995.
I''ve tried things like superonclick and z4root.
Is there any possible way to root my phone or do I just have to wait for a new rooting way.
Hello! I just bought is phone people , has as nice price!!!
And I hope someone considering spend some time to make the root possible!!

Just like to bump on this thread again.
To Devs: Hopefully someone out there who has the heart to develop a ROM for this nice phone would be love by all who bought this amazing price-to-performance phone.

This phone is perfectly capable of making 3g video calls. At least it works in Holland, where I live. Do realize that this functionality also depends on your network provider if they allow it.

Yeah, you're right! Software implementation is defenitely not as good as the hardware should allow it to be. Processor and ram are more than capable, but still there is lag where similar speced phones have none. Hopefully the promised ICS upgrade will fix this or otherwise hoping for some good 'ol custom rom development.
OT995 Potentials
I'm a freak of speed for low cost and the alcatel OT995 will definetly be
my next one!
Hopefully does developers see the potentials of this low budget device,
and make a masterpiece ready to challenge with high-end non-price-quality
phones!
I keep fingers crossed, once a project gets started, I buy one !

Which one to choose?

Hi everyone, I am new here. Generally, I am new to Android phones.
Shortly, I need new phone, and I've decided to buy Android based one. I have around 200 euro to spend for new mobile and I've found a brand new Motorola Defy+MB526. After a little research, it seems that this phone will suit me because of all resistance it has. Now, my real questions are:
Is 200e a lot for this phone(considering that it is a new phone, used 10days and has full package)?
Is there a possibility that Defy+ has bad Loudspeaker(I've read somewhere that there was 1 line of Defy mobile phones with bad loudspeakers, but couldn't find info was that a Defy+ or Defy, and I need to know this because if I am going to buy the phone, it is going to arrive by mail, so I have no possibility to test and try it before I pay for it)?
Is there going to be official/unofficial ICS for Defy+?
How good Defy+ is with rendering 720p videos? Recording and playing.
How good Defy+ is with 3d games?
So please, if you know any of these answers, write here, you will help me a lot
And yeah, what is the best android based phone in range of ~200euros
Thanks a lot,
~Stevan.
I'd like to ask moderators to remove this topic into Defy section please.
Sorry for me being dumb and not doing research before posting..
I think spending 200 euros on a used defy is waste of money
It won't be getting an official ics update

[Q] Why Galaxy SIII ?

Hi everyone ,
I want to buy a new phone in a few days, and I choose between One x and S3,I know thath there is a lot of topic like this but I searched and rly cant find anything thath will convince me to buy one x or s3,just to much similarities.
So ,How I see S3 is smoother and has better batery life ,I dont care for camera and microsd slot ****s,32 or 16gb enough for me.
I will root and install custom rom when I buy one of these,so I wanna know with custom rom on galaxy S3 and custom rom on ONE X what are difference then, cus I know thath on custom rom will be a lot of improvements on both phones.
One thing I prefer on one X is design.
Pls give me some benchmarks and good advices
Tnx in advance and sorry for my english
There's little point asking about this. The specs you'll be able to find online, as for custom roms, there's so many no one's gonna bother explaining everything.
HTC will have sense based roms, whereas Samsung will have touchwiz based roms. Both will have cm.
