In Car Holder For Z5P - Xperia Z5 Premium Accessories

Hi thought I would put this out there, I bought a fantastic in car holder for my Z some years ago from Brodit. Spoken to them on various occasions they have released one for the Compact and Normal but not the Premium.
Has anyone here bought a car holder with windscreen mount for there Z5P and who from please.

I would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has purchased a good one.

I'm likewise on the hunt for a good car holder and would welcome any other Member's inspiration on the subject ....
My old trusty Toshiba TG01 (recently retired) had a custom sized Herbert Richter mount but sadly (so far at least) nothing appears to be forthcoming for the Z5P. Nearest to that are the Brodits so I have tried both of their 'universal' mounts for thin devices, in advance of them hopefully coming out with an X5P-specific version. Unfortunately the larger one presses on the Z5P Volume rocker and the smaller on the Camera button.
My main usage to be for GPS navigation, so primarily in landscape rather than portrait mode.... currently making do with a Belkin Car Mount on the glass just under the rear-view mirror. The mount itself is absolutely fine, but I'm not keen on the placement.
Have also looked at several silicone mat based holders to sit on the dash but typically they have the device leaning back at too great an angle, making it prone to bad reflections. Also non-adjustable and hence largely useless.
One other which might be a possibility is the Spigen Stealth - it will certainly hold the Z5P (Landscape format ONLY) but has a substantial adhesive pad underneath to attach to the dashboard which I'm reluctant to do.
[For info Spigen do do a really good Desk Stand Model S310 labelled as iPhone but fits the Z5P perfectly and I find holds at exactly the right angle alongside my laptop docking station on the desk ]
Best regards,
Kevin

I'm using the Spigen Stealth and It doesn't leave any sticky residue after removal.

@kamalaggi - many thanks for the tip - I shall have to test the Spigen
Update 18 Jan 16..... I have now installed the Spigen Stealth and must say it seems the most practical and satisfactory I've encountered so far. It's simple, low-profile, unobtrusive and easy to get the phone in and out of without fear of damage. And can (relatively easily) be repositioned. So all in all seems to be a keeper
Regards,
Kevin

I have samsung's holder.
Quality is good, but unfortunately when it is closed it presses on volume buttons. So it is of almost no use for Z5P

I got tired of searching for a Z5 Premium specific mount so decided to get one of those magnetic ones and so far so good but you have to be careful where you attach the magnetic plate on your phone/case as it will switch the screen off.

Car Mount Recommendations

Any suggestions? Seen a few on eBay but not sure of the quality...
Yep. Checkout www.brodit.se . Really good quality and no low budget ebay solutions. They have complete car mounts with charger. I've have had one for my Pda and for my other nokia mobile phone and now I've ordered for my Htc Touch HD.

Second that. I have the Pro mount which fits in my car with no screw holes etc and then use their active mounts to screw into the pro mount. Charges phone perfectly and holds it great. Have used them for years now on all my phones, perfect!

i brought this one via ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230328542588
great quality, cannot fault brodit! dont forget you will need a clip
I'll add my question to this thread.
What would you guys recommend for me, considering that I often drive different types of rental cars? I checked the brodit website, but their products are made for specific car models, so it doesn't help my situation.
I have been looking at this one on ebay. Does anyone have any experience with this one? Does it stick well and is it stable? Will it only hold on glass?
I just have this fear that my HD will fall of it I hit a bump on the road.

And what about the type that clips on the air vents? How stable is that?
Here is a link to one on ebay. It also rotates 360° for portrait or landscape viewing.
UPDATE:
I bought the holder in the first picture above. You can read my review on it in Post #8 below.
I have a brodit mount. I think they are about the best ones made. They are expensive but I think that are worth it.
Many thanks all. :
REVIEW of car holder from post above
I just wanted to add my review to the first picture I posted above (holder with suction cup). But first - really quickly - as far as the second picture (holder for air vents), most of the reviews I found did not recommend it because it does not fit well on all vents, it is not stable, and it is often hard to remove from the vents.
So, now on to the suction holder from the first picture:
I got the HD holder for the car today and tested it out. I definitely like it. The suction cup sticks really well to the glass (assuming both surfaces are clean, of course). At first, I was scared that the whole thing would loosen up and fall off, and so I kept checking it constantly, but it held totally firm for the 45 minutes I was driving. Even when I went to take it off and I released the suction-lock lever, the remaining suction was still really strong.
The tray that holds the actual phone fits the HD well, and all buttons and ports are clearly accessible. I wish the phone would fit just a little tighter in the tray, but it is still fine. I never worried that it would "fall out" or anything like that. I suppose it's also good that it is not so tight that it could scratch the HD when sliding it in and out. The tray can also be easily removed and re-attached to the arm. Oh - and of course, the HD will NOT fit if you have any protective case around it (such as the silicone or hard plastic covers).
The "arm" part is easily bent and adjusted at the two joints, so you can set the HD at whatever angle you want in any direction. Once set to whatever angle, it will not loosen or bend on its own.
All-in-all, I'm very pleased with this so far and I would definitely recommend it. The user reviews I read for it on Amazon do so likewise.
I hope this helps.
Cheers!
Just throwing it out there. I recently sold my touch HD. I still have brodit car mount. If anyone wants it I'll be happy to sell it for cheap. If your local, i'll take some red bulls PM me!
BTW I love the mount. If I get any other carmount, its going to be a brodit

Best universal car mount I've ever had. I live in So Cal and go to Vegas frequently so having a windshield (or even dash) mounted phone holder for the car isn't so great in the summer time. Phone gets real hot and it affects the charging.
This feels like it was made with some pretty quality materials and I think the company is based in Northern California so shipping was two days when I ordered it off of Ebay. Paid $17.95 and $4.95 shipping plus CA sales tax. Well worth it.
The charging port is well above the cradle arms so it's easy to put it in. Stays locked in position really well and my Evo with a silicone skin slides in easily enough but stays snug. I like how the bottom piece is detachable so if I want to use it with my iPod Touch or a standalone GPS it'll work just fine and let it stay charged.
It rotates VERY fluidly between portrait and landscape. There's no annoying "click" stops that make others feel and sound cheap. Was using it with the navigation and maps apps and it was great.
I really like how you can adjust the profile of it depending on which way you stick it inside the CD slot. I didn't like it the way it was installed the first time because it blocked my car clock so I put it in "upside down" and it's perfect. The little slots that go inside the slot really seem to grab hold and you can adjust the tightness very easily.
Stays low enough to where I don't feel too nervous running into a 7-11 for something quick having a $500 gadget hanging from the windshield like with others. And like I said it mounts right above the CD player and stays out of the sunlight, also helping with glare issues. Having it right below the A/C vents means it'll keep the phone and battery cool during the summer.
Probably not a great idea for someone who swaps out a lot of CDs while they're driving, but it's not that hard to take off with one had while your driving in a pinch anyway. Besides, who uses CDs anymore anyway? LOL.

(Not spamming, just was so thrilled with this, thought I'd give them a glowing review)
Not my review, but the ones embedded on their Ebay auctions are pretty bland and horrible...

How about hitting the THANKS button.
newegg had these the other day for 17.xx with free shipping. I ordered 2, glad to see a good review of the product.
I had this dock. Worked great but wouldn't fit my otterbox. Had to send it back for the slip grip car dock.

[Q] Charging Dock/Cradle fitting Otterbox case

I've been searching around trying to find a typical vertical charging dock/cradle for the Samsung Galaxy S II that would fit a Galaxy S II phone with an Otterbox case on it.
The case adds a fair amount of girth because of the silicon and plastic layers that go on top.
I've tried a number of docks made for the Galaxy S II, but they're all a snug fit for the phone normally without having a case put on them.
Has anybody found a dock that fits the phone with the needed room to spare for the case to fit?
i havent found one either but after a while of searching i stumbled upon this and liking it so far!
Its just a very little stand which holds the galaxy sii nicely and its very very cheap.
It looks nice on my desk

Although stands are easy to come by, one that provides power as well seems to be the challenge, at least one that fits my phone with the case on it.
I'm near the point of fishing out old Lego or such to find something to lift my phone a few inches off the table, holding it upright vertically with space under it to run a power cable.
I found it annoying that the power/usb jack had to be on the bottom of the phone. It wouldn't be so bad if I could place the phone upside down 180 degrees, but the android OS doesn't seem to rotate to 180 with vanilla OS, nor most apps like to rotate to 180.
I think completely upside down would be annoying over time. You can enable 180 degree rotation in CM7, but I haven't tried it, so good luck.
FWIW.
So far my only solution has been removing the otterbox case which sort of defeats the purpose of it.
I find it odd that I can't seem to buy a simple phone dock that gives enough space to fit the phone.
I guess I'll have to build a dock out of something like wood, lego, etc. or buy a cheap car mount and find a way to make it free stand on a table to give enough space to put a cable into the phone.
This dock is deliberately built a little larger and has a rubber part so it can hold phones with cases.

Not sure if it would fit with the otterbox though as they are quite bulky......however you can't expect a dock to be made for every style of case

Thanks for the reply. Hard to tell if the dock would be big enough or not. But much thanks.

Hi Dave,
I had similar probles and created a wooden dock with large adaption capabilities. Unless the otterbox dock isn't thicker than 8mm it should be OK

Moga Pro and Cases?

Hello all, I know that the Moga Pro fits the Note 3, but does it have enough room to hold one with a case, like the Spigen Neo Hybrid?
Also, a couple of questions about the controller, does the arm "lock" into the open position? Like when it is open with a phone in it, and you shake the controller up and down, does the arm wiggle back and forth a bit? With the phone in it (and a case hopefully), is the whole thing balanced? And would it be top heavy?
I have a moga pro (I also have the pocket, which is junk as it lacks an HID mode) and I assure you it will fit. The clamp is advertised to hold up to an 82mm phone, but it actually opens up to about 90 mm. I have a spigen slim (adds about 1mm to each side) and theres still about 5mm of leftover space (see pic--I jammed a piece of lego in the gap, so you can get an idea of how much open space there is).
The arm is spring loaded, so it always wants to return to the most "closed" position, when you put the phone in, the clamp wants to return to it's most closed position, so it grabs the phone and holds it in place. The arm does wiggle around--it has two angles that it "locks" into, one at about 90 degrees (kinda pointless angle imo), and one at about 120 degrees; however, if you shake it the phone it will still wobble around, especially a huge phone like the note.
And yes, with the phone in, it becomes very top heavy. If you place the controller on a flat surface, and the phone it at the 120 degree position, it will immediately fall over--I think it does this regardless of the phone (maybe with the exception of a "mini" phone, or iphone). And it does feel a little awkward to use for this reason--but it's a little inevitable. The only other option would be to make the controller heavier to balance it out...

I've used the moga pro with my n3 with all cases it even fits my cheap defender style case which is like a brick so it should have no problem fitting the spigen case as all their cases are pretty slim line

Question Peak Design Everyday case for S23 Ultra

My SS ClearCase has some crashes and not looking good anymore, so I want to replace it with Peak Design Everyday case with intention using PD car vent mount in the future because I see it's quite convenient and cool. But it's only available in stock at another city 1800km far from my city, so I cannot hand on. I have some question and hope someone has answers:
- Can I use samsung wireless charging pad when wearing that PD case?
- Its shock resistant capability is good enough? comparing with UAG case or Spigen case
Thanks

Im not sure if its actually better than UAG or Spigen cause they have been in this like forever and I feel all that years of experience surely means something. I use the one from Ringke and its really good but not sure about this case.

Thank you. Does your Ringke case has magnetic itself?
I've been using this Peak Design case since March. I've dropped it a couple times on a hard stone floor with no damage to either the phone or case. It works with Anker and Ravpower pads and should work with your Samsung pad. It works beautifully with the Peak Design magnetic charging stand and magnetic car charger. It's the best case I've had in eleven years of mobile phone use and I highly recommend it.
