It is possible to convert a Sprint HTC one M9 to a Developer/unlocked version? - Sprint HTC One (M9)

Hi to everyone.
I have a HTC one M9 from Sprint with the SIM unlocked, and currently it is working with telcel (a carrier from Mexico) but i want to change the rom to the developer/unlocked rom. It is possible to do this?

As far as i know, that is not possible.

Does the Sprint version have the same hardware compared to the Developer/Unlocked Edition? All the tutorials I've seen are about converting the AT&T Edition since they share same hardware (eg. GSM)

That is the one million dolars question. I been searching and i have found only tutorials to convert the GSM version, and the problem is that the Sprint version uses CDMA. Im not sure if after install the unlocked/developer rom the 3g and 4g will work fine.

@Lussardi thats a little hard to take. As far as experience has taught me with sprint models, flashing international RUU often leads to bricks. Mind you, i haven't tried that on mine yet so i guess until someone confirms with proof, i am just gonna continue using the MM leak for my daily driver

I have the exact same issue from the original post, I'm following you @Lussardi, but I don't have big skills in this envorionment. I have S-off and struggling a little with CID 11111111 because of drivers (says waiting phone) but I'll solve it, anyway, you don't have to perform a wipe of anything to install RUU (is that a clean firmware install?)? I have the TWRP, is there a way to flash Developers RUU with that recovery? Or the only way to do it is like you mention with fastboot codes?
Thanks
Edited: Finally fixed drivers problem, now my actual CID is 11111111

The thing is that my carrier (telcel) works with GSM, and I'm having troubles with mobile network (Can't navigate through Google maps because of this), I thought that removing Sprint firmware and installing the developers one, I'd be able to work with any frequency and solve that. Am I wrong?
Thanks.

Okay, I changed the SKU ID to 21 "HTC_LA_ESN_TELCEL = 21", should I change the radio type too? Actually is at "WORLDPHONE_LTE_BOUND_CDMA = 8", I'm guessing TELCEL should be "GSM_GSM = 6".
Edit: I just turned on mobile data and it no longer shows that ugly GSM icon, now is H+, 3G or 4G

[Q] Anyone flashed a different RUU yet on their TMO device? (After S-OFF/SuperCID)

Asking to see if it did anything to the AWS band we have exclusively on our T-Mobile devices. I haven't taken the plunge yet, and am not asking anyone to be a test dummy for us, but if someone's done it already it would help out the rest of us to know!
As I stated in another thread, I'm gonna try to flash a Dev Edition RUU in a few hours when I get out of work to see if the HSPA on AWS band will stay or not. It should help give some clues as to whether there is an actual hardware difference in our T-Mobile Ones or if it's just software. I'll let you guys know what happens.

i dont know if we can just flash the dev edition??? and then flash the tmobile ratio??
I have a t-mobile variant that I changed to the developer edition thru s-off but for some reason, I feel like my data speeds are slower. We are talking about 2-7mbps from 10-20mbps.... So I don't know if I need to flash something else to it.. Like the t-mobile radio.. But how would I do that?

Unless you specifically did that via RUU, the radios did not change. The ROMs don't contain the radio.

Yes, I changed the RUU to the one provided on the htc website. I also changed my Cid from its stock to Cid 11111111 hypothetically speaking, if I wanted to go back to complete stock, is that possible? If not, what is my alternative to enjoying the developer edition

Ouch, that may have flashed the radio. There are a couple of threads about flashing the TMO radio (attempting to get AWS on international ROMS). You could flash the radio from those, but I don't have a high confidence that those radio files contain everything needed to get AWS back onto a TMO phone that has been RUU.
Here is one of them, take a look:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2247171
EDIT: Eventually TMO will release an update for 4.2.2, that will definitely take you back to stock.
Oh ok thanks a lot. Dan I didn't know it would do that .. I hope I didn't screw my phone up... But hopefully the RUU that htc will release in the future will be beneficiary to me.. Because I still have 3g, hspa+ and in sure I will get low

Convert ATT One M8 -> US Unlocked M8 using HTC RUU's

Really interested in converting my at&t branded HTC One M8 to the Unlocked HTC One M8.
I've been reading up and making sure i'm correct in what I'll need to do to get there. I'm really not interested in keeping root, unlocked boot-loader, or s-off once I convert. I just want at&t gone and ota's from HTC.
I'll need to unlock the boot-loader, Root, and s-off my phone.
I'm under the impression that the at&t M8 shares the same MID with the Unlocked and Developer editions so i'll only need to change the CID?
After changing the CID to the unlocked edition from HTC I can run the official RUU from HTC to convert the phone?
Once converted I Have no desire to keep s-off or an unlocked boot-loader unless it would cause an issue re-enabling either.
Once s-off real simple, change cid to BS_US001 run the 3.28.1540.5 ruu and done.

Will i receive OTAs from HTC?
Ive never had to return to s-on or relock bootloader to recieve otas from htc so from my experience Ill say not needed and will still get otas as long as have stock system and recovery wont be an issue recieving otas.

Agree. This gives you a lot more options, and no benefit to RELOCKED bootloader and S-on.
Used HTVDev to unlock boot-loader then Sunshine for s-off. Changed the CID to Developer edition and ran the HTC RUU for the unlocked/developer edition and haven't looked back. No at&t bloat to spoil the party. I'm probably going to miss out on the HD Voice but I don't care. Thank you guys for the advice.

To install a custom ROM, custom recovery is needed, there are no ATT only based ROM's besides the one I released, all others are euro based unless completely stock cannot get ota's at all from carriers or manufacturer(HTC)

I honestly don't know. Most times I have suggested it, it has worked. I was able to do it in any Verizon model I tried personally even when there is no SIM or service to the device. I would think it should work for other people if it worked without VZW service for me.

It's a little strange because we do not have that device, so likely none of us will have the files you need/want or are looking for.
Yet you have asked in just about every active thread in the Dna forums.
Looking in your devices forum, is going to provide you the best results, and asking over there as well.
None of us have Butterflies or files for them.
Try HERE: LINK
This is for Butterfly X920D
So be sure you are only flashing what's intended for your variant.
I have no idea if that's what you need or not, but it will certainly be closer then anything we have here.

Could you please guide me through a return to 100% stock of my August - HTC M9 version
I am hoping an amateur like me could get my phone fixed too through the help of the group here. I recently bought a swappa phone didnt realize the ATT HTC M9 phone was an unlocked international Custom ROM, it worked the first day smooth with my ATT SIM. But from day two I couldnt receive any incoming call. I was told that by the seller to switch back to stock ROM ... Thus I started this exploration, completed an S-OFF using the sunshine $25 apk, Enabled developer version and USB debugging, but am not very clear with the next steps.
Especially 1. Which ROM version to download ? Should I know the original stock firmware version, if so how to ?
2. By SD card is it meant Micro SD inserted in the phone ? Can it be done by USB cord with out SD card ?
3. The OS in the system info says 2.6.502.18 ROM HTC so should I use the same RUU ?
Sorry if the questions sound so amateurish can't help it.
With s-off then you should be able to flash any att ruu. As long as you haven't messed with your modelid (don't remember what it's called). I would recommend running any att m9 ruu to clean up your device then do a full conversion to the dev edition. That will give you a clean ROM to mess with and coming from my m8 I expierenced less issues while on a dev ruu while flashing roms. Also if you're running a ruu through your computer then you don't need a SD card .

Without S-off you can only flash RUUs that update your software or are the same version and you cannot flash RUUs meant for other devices like the DEV edition RUU.

No problem . I would highly recommend getting s-off and converting your device to dev edition.

So, I'm almost there - I'm unlocked (using HTCDEV site), TWRP Recovery installed, Rooted, and (FINALLY!!) S-OFF!! (not sure why, but that last one made me really nervous). Also changed CID to CWS_001 ........ so now I'm ready to flash the Developer ROM - but there are a bunch of them and I'm not sure which one I should use. My main goal is to get to Android 6.0 - can I use a RUU file to go directly to the Marshmallow firmware or is this something I have to do in steps? Will I lose OTA? Thanks again!

I am now officially a "convert" - i figured it out. I started with 1.32.502.31 and have been updating all afternoon. I'm finally on the last update - 3.35.617.2 and I'll have Marshmallow. Goodbye AT&T - I was really tired of waiting for them to get their act together.
