Backup your data by system → backup/restore. Full wiped your phone then flashed dev rom by mi recovery. Restored back your data. Done.

You mean on data/app?

If your contacts been sync with google. When you done a miui local backup, don't backup your contacts. Else after google sync. Your contacts will be duplicated. After you intalled the dev rom and restored from your local miui system backup. All your intalled peograms will be back including the launcher pages layout.
further readup flashify thread, you can used it to flashed custom recovery like philz cwm or twrp. All you can find in the forum.

Also you can used windroid 2.5 to install twrp and root the stable rom: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=167882&extra=pag

[Q] TWRP or CWM

Hey guys,
So I am thinking about flashing an AOSP ROM. A lot of them seem to mention to flash in CWM. I currently have TWRP on my phone. Will it be necessary to switch? If yes, how do I go about doing that and will the backups that I made with TWRP work in CWM?
Unless the dev specifically says dont use twrp. Youll be fine. I use twrp, but I also havent flashed an asop rom yet. But youll be fine.

Switch by just using ROM manager to flash cwm and no your backups aren't interchangeable.

To get back to TWRP I just uninstall ROM manager and install via GooManager?
You wouldn't even need to uninstall ROM manager, just use goo to reflash TWRP

[Q] Restoring system apps

I am running on limited data usage plans and so I cannot upgrade the system apps(Google Maps, Google Search, YouTube etc.) everytime I flash a new ROM with full wipe. Tried to backup system apps using Titanium Backup Pro and restoring into the new ROM but failed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.:fingers-crossed:

Still not working.... When I restored YouTube v4.1.23 with the data of v4.5.17 it is not happening!!!:crying:
I use app extractor to add my apps after I've changed ROMs. So the apps you have now gets copyed in the form of apks. Install with package installer.

Why don't you download full gapps package once(for your android version), and then flash it over everytime you flash a new rom?

Gapps are usually integrated with Samsung based roms. After flashing a Samsung based rom you would just need to upgrade. I use app backup restore to backup the apk's. Try it and lemme know if it helps.
No.This is for cm base Roms. For Sammy ,you can extract the respective apk from the zip file and place it in system/app and changing permissions.
Edit: Don't Samsung Roms come with integrated gapps?at least the basic ones?

[Q] Which twrp i have to choose after unlock? [SD]

Hi,
I read many many Tutorials and Threads and it seems like there are a hundred ways to unlock and flash twrp. But one thing I miss: Which twrp version to flash first? Directly after unlock.
As far as I understand i have to flash a Recovery as img in fastboot mode if there is no twrp installed.
My Questions:
1. Can I flash stock twrp from official twrp site?
2. Should I flash a custom twrp (alka or coffa)? If yes, why?
Thanks!
Sent from my p8000 using XDA-Developers mobile app
1. Yes, you can.
2. I suggest to flash alka, because you can do a full phone backup in case something goes wrong. It cannot be done with stock TWRP.

Perfect thx
One more question: as I understand, one advantage of alka is no need to flash cracked boot.img for miui Roms. Is that right? And do I have to choose between read and write mode (for ota's)? As far as I have read, none of this is needed.
Is there anything i have to consider if I flash a new rom with alka?
Thanks!

Yes, alka does have that feature but I haven't tried. For safety you can flash modified boot.img first. You can make one with android kitchen or I can upload it to you, just tell which ROM.
After flashing TWRP mount system as read only as showed in this pic. You should get OTA updates. http://i.imgur.com/Q0rHzmg.jpg
If you decide later to flash CM, Mokee, AOKP or other custom ROM, make a full backup with alka and for safety copy to your PC too.

Thanks. No rom yet, my Note is still on the road I just want to be prepared.
One more question: whats the official Thread for alka release? This one: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=282773&extra=page=1&page=1 ?
