Heart Rate monitor WI502Q - Asus ZenWatch 2

hi all i created this thread bec i saw many videos how to monitor heart rate on WI502Q. but no success i dont understand why WI500Q supports the same as we have the latest watch.
This i found on play store
if anyone knw anything abt the issue
ZenWatch 1 (WI500Q) users can enjoy following functions:
- Record your exercise intensity and heart rate
- Examine your relaxation index and provide useful short tips to reduce stress
* ZenWatch 2 (WI501Q, WI502Q) users can enjoy following functions:
- Track your sleep at night to know how well you slept and provide sleep tips
- Start a workout as Running, Push-up, or Sit-up with goals

The key is we don't have a heartrate moniter build in. Thats why our watches are so cheap.

Thn why does zenwatch 1 supports

Because the first Zenwatch has build in.

One thing you have to learn - sometimes they reduce features to hit a lower price point.

Yes, ZW2 has speaker. It doesn't have a heart rate monitor sensor.

Thanks mate and it seems Android 6 update started to roll out for android wear whn can we expect the same for ZW2

app request - continous heart rate monitoring with warning vibrations.

One feature I would like the gear fit to have would be an exercise app that continuously reads your heart rate.
Also have vibrating warning as your heart rate go up and down.
Example:
If your heart rate is to high, vibrate continuously until it gets lower. And short vibrations if its too low.
That would be perfect for people who want to work out and stay in a specific heat rate zone.

Even if there was a development kit doubt it be possible with the way the watch gets the heart rate.
If it kept that light on all the time I expect the battery be dead in a few hours tops

It already does continuous heart rate monitoring in running mode. But I don't just run. That's what I'm using now for my work outs, as long as the gear fit is on tight it gets good readings. Just would be nice if could get vibration feedback instead of having to look at the watch.
I was hoping to track my heart rate over time, even when not working out. Can the Fit do this in any easy way?
I would be ok with 5/10 minute intervals. A little different that what you need but it could just be a difference in settings.
yeah I was also hoping something like that was possible.. maybe some devs will make it in the near future

Yeah. How else would you track calories burned from other forms of fitness? This is seriously a big hole in the capabilities of this device.
Hi,
it's possible to have an app like Jawbone UP for Samsung gear fit?
thanks a lot

Has anyone attempted to monitor HR all night using "Walk" mode? I'm thinking about attempting it tonight. I really think this watch could be a great exercise training tool to see how you are recovering. It's is completely useless for running "Distance" works fine as a stop watch.
would be amazing to see heart rate at 30 min intervals with no button pressing!!!
Hi. I'd join the topic paster with the request of app. I have Samsung Gear Fit and it would be very interesting to have such app. If it's possible. I'm even ready to donate (a fear price). My phone - Samsung Galaxy S4. If it's possible - please let me know. Thank you. BR

Sony SmartBand 2 (SWR12) with Z2

Tomorrow I'm getting my hands on the new SWR12 aka SmartBand 2. If you're preparing to buy one too, ask me anything regarding compatibility with the Z2.
After I had some time with it I'll try to write a review and compare the second generation with SWR10 aka SmartBand.
I'm quite curious about battery life. Wondering, if the new generation will last longer on battery without pulse monitoring.
First impressions:
Both the SWR12 core and band are made of different materials than SWR10. It feels more slippy.
Good news is that the SWR10 bands perfectly fit the new core. So you can use your old leather band with the new core.
The new band feels comfortable and the new lock is much better - no way this is going to fell of occasionally.
Great news is that the new SWR12 is compatible with SmartLock (Lollipop). So you can use it as a unlock device even though this is a BLE device. Yup, also works after a restart etc. I tested it very carefully, because I couldn't believe it Wondering if Sony is going to fix this for the first gen SmartBand....
The Heart Rate monitor is working better than expected, but I need to test this more to give a more reliable conclusion.
is it possbile to use heart rate measurements in 3rd party apps (Sports tracker in particular)? which new fuctions other than HR present in swr12 vs swr10?

The SmartBand 2 host app only mentions Google Fit (there is a switch to enable synchronizing pulse rate with it). However there is a note that the pulse data is synchronized only if you measure your pulse using manual control. So for example if you want to measure your pulse every 10 minutes (like the Livelog does), that's not possible. So basically there are two options avaliable: Realtime pulse tracking or No pulse tracking at all.

New strap
Colored notification LEDs
Smart Lock support for Lollipop
Standalone app (no need to use lifelog to measure steps etc.)
Google fit support
Quiet mode (Night mode replacement, probably you won't need to set when you sleep - it should track this without any interaction - for example during after-dinner sleep - still needs testing)

I actually made this thread, because I guess I'm one of the first to get this device. I had huge trouble finding it - even ebay doesn't sell it.
When suddenly I looked at the local auction website "Allegro" in Poland and noticed that the official Sony re-seller called "M-point" has them in stock.
Link to the auction: http://allegro.pl/sony-swr12-smartband-2-czarny-i5653196214.html

No idea, if the shop ships internationally.

Just tested and indeed you don't need to use night mode to track your sleep - all is done automatically. That's superb!
It takes about 25 seconds to measure the pulse rate - lets call this a "cold start". After this period it measures in real time.
So take this into account, if you want just to check manually for your PR from time to time you'll need to wait a few seconds for the test to complete. This also applies to SWR12 STAMINA-mode.
Battery
Could you make a test of how long the battery lasts when you permanently measure your heart rate. This would be interesting for me, because the main point I'm interested in is to have a 24h measurement of my heart rate - awake and asleep.
Thx

The heart rate is measured every 10 minutes by default. That way it should last for 2 days.
With Heart activity mode enabled (measures the heart rate more often than 10 minutes (every 5 minutes?) it should last for 10 hours.
Which mode would you like me to test? Also, I'm getting quite much notifications during the day, this could lessen the battery life.
EDIT: I was heavy testing the device yesterday, updating it's firmware, pairing with different devices, measuring heart rate in activity mode for some time etc and the battery lasted for about 28h. I did not use the STAMINA mode at all.

I would be interested in "heart rate in activity mode always on". I understand that in this mode the heart rate is measured permanently and not "only" every 10 minutes (which actually should be sufficent for most use cases).

It's definitely not a constant measure in "heart rate in activity mode always on", because if I peek under the smartband 2 during this mode - it's not always emitting the green light (required to measure the pulse). So it's more often, but still not always on. The heart rate monitoring is only always on (permanent), if you keep the SWR12 app open (and keep the smartphone screen on). That's from my observation.
Difference between normal mode (2 days battery life) and activity mode (10 h battery life)
This diagram was recorded during 16h of usage (14h normal mode - 2h activity mode).

I just fully charged my SWR12. You're right after all. I'm now peeking under the core every few minutes and the green light is always flashing. So yes, in activity mode the pulse is measured in real time. Sorry for my last reply, I made a mistake

Thx for your investigation. So with "always on" the smartband will not last for a whole day. But with "nomal mode" you are able to cover a whole day and maybe a second day.
So using "normal mode" and "always on" for sports and charging the smartband every day in the evening would be a way to go if you are really interested in your heart rate.

I just finished testing the always on mode and I got exactly 12 h and 35 minutes of battery life. It might get even better after a few charge/discharge cycles.
So if I would plan to do an Iron Man challenge, I would need to hurry up
Just kidding.
Thank you very much for your test and your answers. I just saw that the Smartband is now available on amazon.de and I'm going to buy one now :good:

I found something interesting: actually I didn't fully charge my band... Because the green LED indicates that the SWR12 is charged over 90%, so to fully charge I had to charge it for a qouple minutes longer... :sly:
Hi there. When you are using the continuous hr (always on), the only way to check your hr is checking the phone? I would like to use the band to practice sports but I would not be able to check the phone screen.
I know the band doesn't have a display (like fitbit charge hr). But if it was possible to check at least the zone you are (by the color of the led blinking for example) it would be OK to me.
Can tou test if it's possible to check your zone just looking to the band please?
Thanks very much!

Yes - I have installed the new version since yesterday. Steps are now counted immediately - the pedometer algorithm has been improved and a new function has been implemented: navigate back to the (stored) starting point. I could not test this, though. Italian and French are now supported.

I did install it too yesterday. Long story short my watch now lits up screen when i put my hand down (not up, like there is an option but like you normaly walk with your hands down).. draining all battery over one night shift. this wasn't a thing before an update.
Hello, I updated new ROM 2.3.6.0. and in last 13h I have left battery 56% (from 100%).
I have installed it when it appeared. No issues so far.

Seems that floor climbed is more precise. But heart-rate is more higher. I didn't know if it works precisely.

Update completely breaks HR monitoring - it's consistently showing unrealistic values like 220 bpm for a bike ride in the park?!?
Existing bug with excessive battery drain when using an external HR monitor NOT fixed.
Very disappointed with the software of the watch.

Yes, my walk exercice yesterday : Stratos HRM between 120-157 bmp and Garmin VA3 80-90 bpm....
So with this new ROM, daily steps are right now but it is the HRM wich is totally wrong... so what happen in the next ROM ? HRM OK and Time not working ?

I tested HR in GYM (GRIP) ... after all comments I was surprised that it was more close to reality then before. Average HR 130 and Max 171 on cardio. Similar data I had on Gear S3. Before my max HR was only 140 on cardio and average 110 - 115. As there is no GYM mode I am using Elliptical Trainer
So only problem I see is with continuous HR.
Updated to 2.3.6.0, three days ago. My initial findings:
- HRM seems to be high, at times. On a hike, while descending (HR low), it constantly showed above 150 bpm and up to 180 bpm for about 1/2 hour.
- While swimming, it adds steps. That's something I had noted with previous ROM versions, which was corrected in 2.3.5.0. Now, it's back again. For example, today, entering the pool, steps count was 2700. After a 1600 meter pool swim, the steps count had raised to 5120!!! That's amazing!
It remains to check other features...
i updated this new rom version 2.3.6.0 few days ago and the Heart Rate is more higher than the 2.3.5.0 version (210 bpm !!!!) my highest bpm was 168bpm
Is it possible to dowload the 2.3.5.0 version ?
Cannot measure the heart rate after the update
I just updated and the first bug I noticed is that I cannot measure the heart rate anymore. I always get this error:
"Couldn't measure
Wear the watch above the wrist."
But the watch it is one finger above the wrist, as it should be...

Continuous heart rate seems broken with new 2.3.7.0 Stratos firmware

Hi
There is an ongoing thread about the new 2.3.7.0 Stratos firmware and whether its OK to update.
Can I ask if anyone who has updated has found that Continuous heart rate monitoring is now broken - symptoms are that resting heart rate is reported as '--', there are gaps in the data, and when you look at the back of the watch the heart rate LEDs only work in brief burst of about 10 seconds, the go off for a minute or two (completely different to continuous previous 2.3.5.0 behaviour)
Hopefully the images from the Amazfit app show the issue better than I can say in writing..
Heart rate images from 10th December (2.3.5.0) and 13th December (after update to 2.3.7.0) are in the attachements below this post.
Hmm, as I explained you in another thread. I'm pretty sure that continuous HRM is not really continuous. Just checked again and the LED on my Stratos is off right now even continuous hrm is on.
However, your graphs clearly show that in the latest release, continuous HRM is even less continuous. Definitely has unusual gaps.
With the oldest FW, mine looks like the first one you've posted.

Just double checked. After zooming, my continuous HRM looks like second one you've posted! Also has gaps. However, watch and the app are showing resting, min, max, average HR. For resting takes some time to show up, at least a day. And you did factory reset...

1. Known bug: currently Pace/Stratos do not record reading bellow a minimum value (I think it's 47bpm), Huami is already aware of this;
2. Obviously, continuous doesn't mean it measures heartbeat every second, first it needs about 15s to get just one reading, and then keeping the sensor on all the time would kill battery. IRIIC it reads every 1 or 2 minutes;
3. No resting rate: first check that your profile is correctly filled, then you must use the watch at night, while sleeping. If both are OK then you need to factory reset: first try with restoring old data (it usually doesn't fix anything), then without restoring old data after pairing again.

You are incorrect about a 47 BPM bug, I see min 43 BPM on December 14th, Min 43 BPM on December 15th, and Min 42 BPM today as I write this post. I saw readings below 47 before with 2.3.5.0. Maybe this broke in 2.3.6.0 / 1 which I did not use?
Secondly, continuous HR with 2.3.5.0 meant LEDs flashing on all the time. Almost every video I have seen on Youtube with Stratos reviews show LEDs on back always flashing.
This is how things always worked since September with 2.3.5.0 and it did not kill battery, only 2% overnight, or 5% during the day if no GPS or Bluetooth battery. It was always VERY accurate too, resting always match my Wahoo Tickr within 1 or 2 beats as you can see from Wahoo Tickr screenshot vs December 10th screenshot in 1st post with 2.3.5.0
See this Youtube video - everytime he turns over the watch, LEDs are always flashing and I can see from this setting he used Continuous HR to on.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsxKihwRNV4
In my view always on LED the correct behavior and exactly as Fitbit Surge or Garmin Fenix 5 Plus which also have 24/7 LEDs in continuous mode. As a general point, Fitbit Surge and Garmin Fenix offer 5 to 7 day battery with proper continuous HR and Stratos with 2.3.5.0 also did this fine.
I've spent the last 3 days resetting / rebooting / repairing and this simply is not a fix - sorry! 2.3.7.0 is broken, at least on my watch and cannot be fixed my end. See HR track from yesterday (15th December)
As a very experienced user of this device with over 660 miles logged, I know how it worked since September 2018 with 2.3.5.0 and how it doesn't work now - this isn't something I am doing wrong.....

Sorry, but there is not much to be "very experienced" about. Regardless how many miles you have logged so far. With that logic I'm about double experienced than you
Anyway, I agree that they're messing up with FW, fixing one bug, making two more. Instead of wasting your energy here on xda forum to prove us something, turn to Amazfit instead. Open the ticket and prove to them. It's good for all of us. Actually, all of us should open the ticket for every bug, every problem we find.

The reason I put my usage is that it's a bit frustrating people saying reboot or repair - this is really like a IT support cliche telling you to turn it on and off again! I know how this works and its just wasting time with a firmware defect.
I have reported all the bugs I have found in Stratos since September, including uploading log reports from the phone directly from WIFI, filling reports with Amazfit and have had no response ever from them. Just an auto-reply - never any human follow up.

I think that link may be for people in the USA only - I am in England, and one of the questions they ask is about sales channels. I suspect non-US reponses to sales channel questions get filed in the bin too be honest
Well, try with US channel then
For me continues heart rate is working on 2.3.7.0. The lights should flash every minute for around 10s. It is measuring in one minute intervals except during activities. On Apple or Suunto continues means 10 minutes. On Garmin each second. What I recognized is that my resting HR is now relatively higher than before. But now it is winter and I am doing much less cardio training than in summer. So it could be true. Resting HR still recognizes resting days, hard workouts, illness or drinking alcohol correctly.

I may do that
Well I have another bug - I am about to go out for a run, my usual stretching exercises puts my HR at about 60-65 BPM. Stratos with 2.3.7.0 is going nuts with continuous readings - spiking at 105 BPM, drop back to 78 BPM is next read cycle, then back to 96 BPM on other cycle.
Wahoo Tickr and Fitbit Surge have me around 60-65 BPM which is correct.
I could report this, but I suspect this would go into the 'too hard to fix' bin...! But will try pretending I am in the USA today
I can't say much about the stratos continuous heartbeat, but my Pace (FW 2.8.1.0) regularly shows a rate of 180 - 200 when I easily can make a conversation....

So maybe 2.3.7.0 fixed the low HR minimum (I am not sure because I do not use this feature normally, but I know it existed for 2.3.6.0/1)... I have just enabled continuous HR for the last few hours, and I am sure the green leds aren't on always. I also got the graph showing the resting rate.
guys, throw all that stuff at me, i'll try to prioritize it again.

Hi
Can I ask if anyone who has updated has found that Continuous heart rate monitoring is now broken - symptoms are that resting heart rate is reported as '--', there are gaps in the data, and when you look at the back of the watch the heart rate LEDs only work in brief burst of about 10 seconds, the go off for a minute or two (completely different to continuous previous 2.3.5.0 behaviour).

The same crap has been going on with the Pace for the past year. I was in touch with support for months and got a constant reply that it'll be fixed on the next ROM. This reply was repeated for months, until the warranty ran out, with me supplying the developers with data, screenshots and uploads directly from the watch. I chucked mine and put it down to buying cheap ****, and useless support. A friend who still has patience tells me that they still haven't fixed the HR issue.
Have fun with support, I hope you have better luck with the Stratos.

Fossil sport uninstall system apps

Hello guys i bought the fossil sport 41mm just a day ago. I want to know is there any way to uninstall bloatware which is causing high battery consumption & low performence.
Thank You any help would be appreciated.
If it's the same as the gen 5 try the following to solve some battery issues. My gen 5 went from less than a day to 2 full days.
- Remove the fossil HR complication from your watchface.
- Turn OFF tilt to wake.
- Turn on Always On Display
- Uninstall Cardiogram App
I think there was a bug in the fossil HR complication as it would trigger the sensor a lot on mine!
A couple of friends have done this also and it's made a huge difference on their gen 4/5 so I would be keen to know how you get on too.

Wouldn't call HR sensor triggering a bug when you have it set on your watch face. That's what it's supposed to do - track your heart rate

You misunderstood me. Its meant to only trigger every 20 minutes and display the last HR reading till it next triggers, just like Google fit does it. On my watch it's triggering every time I wake the screen. Combine that with tilt to wake and you get the jist.
Just the removal of the fossil HR complication from watchface improved my battery life by at least double.

HR Complication
I have Fossil 5th Gen.
I was able to complete all these functions.
- Turn OFF tilt to wake.
- Turn on Always On Display
- Uninstall Cardiogram App
But I cannot find where to remove the "HR Complication". Can you provide steps please
Thank you
Chris
The complications are the little information discs on the watch face. Long press the watch face and it will shrink and show a configure icon below it. Press this. Then click on the one for HR and change it to anything other than the HR.
I have attached a screenshot from my watch with the ones I have (Watch battery, Weather and Fit (steps)). View attachment 5054955

I have had the watch off of the charger since 9:00 AM PST it is now 2:30 PM PST and I have only use 10%
I am at 90% right now. I am getting much improved life on the battery.
Thank you for your suggestions.
UPDATE:
It is now 10:42 PM PST and my watch is at 70%...
That is 30 percent over a 14 hour period...
I am using a watch face called Cronosurf Pro.
No, you can not run Android apps on a non-Android tool, there are 0 alternatives alas. But if you obtain Android on it, you'll be lacking out on the watch spinning dial, and with this kind of small display on the sport like shoes, I couldn't consider going touchscreen-best.
