Android Wear 1.4 OTA (Marshmallow) is rolling out - LG G Watch

It's official:
Confirmed new navigation gestures, new voice commands, and call support (not our G Watch, obviously...).

How are we going to be able to restart our watches on the go if Marshmallow is going to removed the Restart button?

Where did it mention the restart button will be removed?

Look at the part in bold
Hi everyone!
We are happy to announce a new update for Android Wear, rolling out starting today which will include the following features:
New ways to get your information: Android Wear is launching even more wrist gestures so you can navigate your watch by just moving your arm. In addition to scrolling through your cards, you can now expand a card, bring up your apps, or return back to the watch face by just moving your arm.
New ways to communicate: Your Android Wear watch already saves you time by letting you see who’s calling. Starting today, with speaker support for Android Wear, you can take calls and make calls too. Just make sure your watch and phone are within Bluetooth range. This will be available on Android Wear watches with speakers, starting with the Huawei Watch and ASUS ZenWatch 2 (49mm - large). Also, for those using Google Messenger for SMS, its new watch app allows you to see your full message threads right on your wrist.
New supported languages: Android Wear is now available in six new languages: Dutch, Polish, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Indonesian and Thai. Set up the language on your phone under settings. .
New apps experiences: With the new Google Now app experience on your watch, never miss important notification cards, such as reminders or flight delays. Launch the Google app from your apps list to see all of your notifications. The new Reminders app allows you to create, view, and archive reminders. Also, now send instant messages with just your voice from the following 3rd party apps like Google Hangouts, Nextplus, Telegram, Viber, WeChat, and WhatsApp
Settings update: With the new Date and time setting, you can now choose to sync your watch’s time and date automatically or change it manually. For watches with integrated speakers, control Sound including media, alarm and ring volumes, as well as ringtone! Finally, we’ve made some other changes to keep in mind. Restart has been dropped in the latest update. If you do power down be sure to use your power button on to restart your watch. And if you need to reset your watch, now select Unpair with phone.
Conserve power - When your watch is not worn for a long period of time it will go into a mode to conserve battery by restricting what your apps are accessing and running. To exit this mode just move your watch, turn on the screen or connect it to a charger. To also help conserve battery, individual apps that have been unused will go into a standby mode until you start using the app again.
In preparation to receive this update on your watch, please make sure you have the latest version of the Android Wear app on your phone, by opening the Play Store, searching for “Android Wear”, and opening the app’s Play Store page. If an [Update] button is visible, make sure to update the app.
To successfully receive the update on your watch, please make sure your watch is on its charger overnight and connected to your nearby phone by either bluetooth or Wi-Fi (Android phones only).
The release will roll out gradually in the coming days and weeks. As always, feel free to ask questions on this forum or share feedback and let us know if you encounter any issues!
For more information, you can read our blog announcement.
Cheers!

Any OTA?

Has someone just received the OTA?

weeks and soon... thats the problem!

Seriously? No reboot option on 1.4? Who came up with that stupid idea? Hopefully we'll get some kind of ROM with that option restored or at the very least they will add it back in officially because the last time I checked we don't have a proper power button on the G Watch it's a small thing on the back that you need a small toothpick or something to use.
Stupid dumb idea Google.

Yeah and you need something small like a toothpick to use it. Again terrible idea to take away what should be a basic function in the software itself. I will refuse to upgrade to 1.4 based on principal of this alone.

Can't you start your watch with the watch button?!
They removed the restart function, but as they say you just have to shutdown then restart your watch. Not a huge change.

Have you tried to physically turn on the G Watch without the charging dock on hand? You need something small and pointy like a toothpick.
And to me it's the principal of the matter. Taking away a basic function for no good reason. Why is it okay for us to just shrug our shoulder and be like "okay that's fine." No it's not.

Still doesn't make taking away software reboot any more okay. Not that your idea is bad or anything that is a good idea. It's still the principal of the matter to me.

[Q] Problems with jelly bean update. Talk back in particular.

I updated to jelly bean last week. It came with talk back. trying everything I can think of, I have come to the conclusion that if anything else in accessibility is on, talk back come on too. I have a pebble watch, an love it. But when either it, or pebble notifier, it light wave is on, then the blasted voice tells me everything I am doing. It's very annoying. I tried stopping talkback with system tuner, which led to even worse problems. (like no touch screen function except with the s-pen.) Does anyone know how to get rid of talk back? Thanks in advance.

You can find how to root your phone in the development forums. Make sure you do it for the correct version of andriod ie:4.1.2

Disable it in settings/application manager/all applications. Find talkback and select uninstall updates. After updates are uninstalled go back into talkback from application manager, select force stop, then disable.
Right! Never delete a system app until you have disabled it or froze it with TiBU, then tested your phone fir a day or so. You never know how or what those apps are connected to.

True. Thats why I tried to disable it. And google text to speech. And Samsung text to speech. Each one stops it for a while. Then it comes back on even though it shows it is disabled. Its enough to make you start pulling out your hair.
If it says it is off then you are experiencing something else. What speech are you getting?

Whenever I turn a page. Which page of apps or widgets I am on.ect. I disabled all three. Then powered down the pbone. When it came back up, it has the talkback hand up I the top bar. Says it is on. Yet it doesn't even show up in settings/accasabilities menu. I'm stumped.

For me the issue was being caused by that fact that I have NoLED turned on in Accessibility. And it's a known issue with the developer of NoLED because he has a FAQ item about it. The best I've been able to do is get the talkback completely silent by disabling Talkback, Google Text to Speech and Samsung TTS. NoLED still works, and the nagging voice is gone, the only unwanted artifact is the HAND icon of Talkback that continues to show up in the Notification bar even though it's not running. I can live with that way easier than hearing that silly voice telling me everything I was doing.
For what it's worth I think the guides provided concerning rooting and rom upgrades for this phone are not as explicit or clearly written as they could be. Kudos to those who took time to do and provide what's there, and I realize that they've most likely moved on to newer devices, but even though I've rooted most of my devices in the past and am not a complete noob I did not feel comfortable using the provided instructions on this device. I haven't bricked a device yet, and don't want to start with this one.
Well, I'm not running no led. Whenever any of the services I use are active (pebble, or pepple notifier) are activated, talkback is activated. Like you, I have rpoted every device up to this one. Not really scared of bricking it. Just not sure a new rom would help. Contacted samsung, and was told it was a hardware problem. Like I'm an idiot. Obviously its in the software. Just not sure if it is samsung specific. Guess I'll just keep bumbling along with this work around.

FYI. You can get rid of the Talkback icon after each reboot by opening the notification bar, touch and hold Talkback, pick App Info, this will open into Settings App Info (for some reason), pick force stop and then the icon is gone until the next reboot.

Thanks. However, every time I have force stoped it, my touch screen will only work with the stylus. Touch input goes dead. And sometimes the touch alignment goes so that when you touch in one place, it refesters somewhere else. Guess I'll just live with the hand.

This whole Talkback feature appears to be filled with issues. I think I'll live with the hand (and not talk to it, lol), rather than risk more complications and further issue. So far I like Jellybean, but I hope that the next version of Android on Samsung devices fixes these issues.
As an aside, another thing that took me by surprise was the use of a new mountpoint for the external SD card. It took me a bit to figure out why /sdcard/external_sd was empty of files, but Music and other apps were able to see the data I had on the card. It's been awhile since my days as a UNIX SA and it dawned on me, literally in the middle of the night that perhaps the OS was using a different mountpoint. I was very relieved to find it under /storage/extSdCard and that my data was both there and able to be used.

Did you uninstall TalkBack (using something like Titanium BackUp) and not just disable it? If so, when you pick App Info from the Talkback notification does it open up the "Settings Version 4.1.2-I717UCMD3" app? If not It might be that we have different apps installed causing a different app to come up. If this is the case, would you mind trying going into Settings, Application Manager, All, Settings (the one with "Version 4.1.2-I717UCMD3", I have 2 Settings apps) and force stop that and see if that works.
I never uninstalled talkback. Since i haven't bothered rooting. forced stop defiantly gave me headaches, so I settled for stopping the text to speech of google and samsung. Running android 4.1.2. Ive seen on other posts where this is a samsung issue, and hopefully they are working on it. Looks like we have the same versions. Baseband i717ucmd3 with android version 4.1.2 \. Build # JZO54k.i717ucmd3. Force stopping just screws up my touchscreen, so I'll leave it enabled for now. Maybe Samsung will fix it, but I won't be holding my breath....

I too have a Pebble, and have had the issue with talkback showing up on every reboot. I had seen that it was a Samsung issue, so all I do is get rid of it on reboots. Just turn your Pebble Notifier, or I think any other accessibility app, off then back on. This will get rid of the hand, and thus far I have not had it talk to me at all. But I am running Padawan currently, so YMMV. To turn things off and on, just select the talkback notification from the bar to get into accessibility settings.
I ended up rooting for a couple of reasons. I had already frozen Google Text to Speech, Samsung Text to Speech, or whatever it's called, and the Talkback app but still had the hand. After rooting I was able to tap on Talkback in the pull down notification screen and turn off notifications of it. Strange that is was still there, but it worked and the hand hasn't been back.

Help Me Setup My Omate!!!

Im usually pretty good at figuring tthe smartwatches out. but how do you get to the different screens on the watch? whe i turn it on i get on screen with instagram .calculater etc. when i swipe i get to blank pages. ive accidenttly stumbled across other screens with other things on them but i have no idea what i did to get there! is there a manual for how to use this watch? or can someone give me some basic instructions please???
I suggest you hold the bottom button down till the task list comes up, then swipe left to kill OUI2.0 launcher. When you do that, you will get a screen where you can select from available launchers...pick the little house with the android in it. Things will be more familiar then.

[INFO] Everything Umeox x201 (TrueSmart, AW-414/420, AX-3, XTouch, etc..) sticky. Both methods are listed in "Kernels, Patches, MOD packs, ROMs" section of the sticky.
Sorry but have to be blunt. Using any x201 unpatched is extremely dumb. Unpatched, a hacker, malware and even malicious websites can remotely steal your info off the device an then brick it.

It doesn't get any simpler than this.
Most of the guides here for the x201 are done in such a way that you do exactly what the instructions say. Except for some rare cases, 99% of the time there are issues is because somebody skipped a step or did the steps out of order. The other part of the problem is people think "OMG new tech! It must be scary and complicated" when in fact the core concepts are the exact same as a computer. Install software, click button(s), wait, done.

OK Well i got my yahoo mail set up. also got google play store on by emailing it to myself and then installing it. also found some apk's that i had from my zwatch that work on the omate: Aquamail, Easy uninstaller, Battery meter.
Two BIG questions: why does the watch have 2 sets of screens? the main screen set(which seems to be the default) with the blue background and the other set you get to by swiping down thats got a dark grey background with similar apps but has folders and more apps. i'd like to make that my default) but everytime you push the bottom button, it goes to the original blue default screen. same when you turn off and on the watch, it defaults to the blue set. how do you get rid of that blue default screen set. also is there a gmail app or do ii have to DL from play store? and is there a call log app? i cant find it if there is. THANKS!!
So you didn't install any patch. Not good. Almost every bit of info you just put on your watch (passwords, usernames, contacts, etc.) is now accessible by hackers, malware and malicious websites. Your watch can also be bricked remotely as well.

plus i cant get my computer to see the watch as a drive. i tried it with windows 7 and 8.1 and no luck. so i cant patch it unless i can get the computer to see the watch.
You don't need your computer to see it as a drive to patch it. Where did you read that you did?
Windows does not have to see any phone as a drive to recognize that it's there.
Getting your watch to be seen as a drive on your computer
Connect watch to PC
On the watch either a screen will pop up with a button saying "Turn on USB Storage" or "USB Connected" shows up in notifications
If you do not get the popup tap on "USB Connected" in notifications, the popup should now appear.
If none of these things happens the most likely cause it that the dock is defective.

There has been less than 5 reports of somebody actually bricking their watch and it wasn't from running either patch. The worst that happens is that you have to flash factory firmware to the watch. In the instances of people bricking their watch it has been because of flashing untested firmware that they got from somewhere other than myself.
The two sets of "screens" are launchers. You can either clear the defaults for the primary launcher or factory reset your watch.

[Q] How to show full notification text

Nope. Because they don't natively support android wear, the watch just takes the text from the notification. And as you can see on your phone the text is also cut off. Your watch doesn't do anything else than display the text in the notification and not the full message. That only works with supported apps like gmail, hangouts, etc..

Okay, I see. I'm a bit spoiled by my Pebble cause it can show the full text with a 3rd party notification app.
EDIT: Just checked again. When I have two Whatsapp-Messages, the watch shows the first three words of each. The expanded notification on the phone shows the full text. I think, Google needs to fix this.

You are absolutely right. And knowing both ... how long do you think, this will take? I hope that some capable developer comes up with an idea to show every notification with full text. The Pebble can do it via a 3rd party notification app, so I think it should be possible for Android Wear too.

Google reminders auto-dismissing themselves

Hi folks,
I've got a weird issue for some time back now. It regards the reminders in the Google app, you know "remind me to do this and that at 2pm". They show up in many apps now like Inbox, calendar and so forth. Very useful, but I have a severe issue: they automatically dismiss themselves a second after they are going off. I hear the sound, and look down at my watch or the phone and I see the notification pop up and then immediately disappear again automatically. When I go into reminders I see them being checked off, marked done, without me doing anything. The problem only arise with timed reminders "at 2pm, in 2 hours" etc. When I set a location reminder "remind me to buy milk at coop", the resulting reminder stay in place as expected.
Any suggestion on what to do? I've got the latest Google app, from the beta channel but as I said this problem has been there a long time now, months likely. I'm on a S7 Edge.

Hi folks,
I've got a weird issue for some time back now.

It's been a known issue for a while, Google is seemingly just now addressing it. They promised a fix soon™ on the Android Wear Help Forums.

Oh, so no point in trying to find a problem in my own device then. Incredible they aren't getting to it until NOW. It's been there for months now.
I am having this issue too and I use it all the time.
I ended up coding a notification replacement in Tasker using autonotification. It works but I lack the feature to postpone (since the real reminder is already dismissed).

Phone calls from S10E to Verge

Hi there,
I don't seem to be able to use the phone function on my Verge. I have the latest software update but I didn't find any way of making the watch get notification from the calls coming into my S10E. is this a Samsung issue?
Thanks to anyone who will respond.

Be sure you have latest update of:
Watch app (3.2.0-Play) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.huami.watch.hmwatchmanager&hl=en
Watch Verge (ROM) (3.2.5.0)
Then go to Amazfit watch app:
1. Open app
2. Profile
3. Amazfit Verge
4. Scroll to down
5. Notifications settings
6. Must be market/checked these: a) Push notification (must be red dot) b) in Push notifications must be added app which in yours phone is responsible of incoming calls. Also keep in my must be all permissions enabled, after update sometime need to enable it again. If still will not helps, do factory reset of watch Verge, with re-install app Amazfit in yours phones (I doing like this often, helping me), but without restore of data in Amazfit app. It's important !!!
IMPORTANT: After factory reset in watch you will lose that day activities information. But don't worry it must be show in Amazfit watch app anyway, you just couldn't to see it in that day when you will do factory reset in watch, past days must be showed. For me working everything like this
Thanks for the reply but it doesn't work

Sad Did you tried to connect/pair with other smartphone? Factory reset of watch Verge for me most time working, re-install of Amazfit watch app asking all the time to give permissions from new, so you ca be sure that you will gives it 100% right, but if you after all these steps still have this problem, you just can try to connect/pair with others smartphone, even with the same account, if working on others smartphone, that's mean with your S10 something wrong, if no and problem persist maybe you using AmazMode app or something like this? Then developers will help you better
My smartphone is not rooted, in watch is official ROM and I using it without any 3rd parties apps software and ect.
yes, with Pocophone it works very well. THe issue with Samsung is double sim. If I turn off one of the two sims the calls arrive to the Verge about once in every 10 tries. The other 9 the Verge vibrates a bit then stops and the call is not shown. I only get the notification of missed call. If I turn on both sim cards the Verge doesn't receive the call. Is there a way to inform AMAZFIT developers of this?
Are you using the stock Samsung ROM? Did you try installing a third party app for calls, like Contacts+?
You can send feedback from the app's help section (probably it will arrive in the Chinese support) or use this link if you have an International model:

I mean this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.edotassi.amazmod&hl=en_US. I think it not just for call If you using everything stock then strange and I advise you to talk with Amazfit Support in https://en.amazfit.com/support.html (Global, via mail) or https://support.amazfit.com/hc/en-us/categories/360001563933-Verge-Smartwatch. But I don't know why, but I have feelings that you doing something wrong, it can be that you did not gave permission for call notifications. As I mentioned try to factory reset (sometime it helping after several times), app to delete and re-install after reboot of smartphone, I don't have smartphone with PIE, but in these steps I don't think is something big differences as is in Marshmallow Good luck :highfive:
