BAD N.O.V.A. 3 Graphics on Nexus 9 compared to REDMI 1s or other similar phones! - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just started playing NOVA 3 Freedom Edition on my Nexus 9 and I noticed a huge difference in graphics quality from the Redmi 1s or even other phones version of the game! I think technically Graphics in a Tegra tablet should be far better than a normal Snapdragon Phone! BUT this is just the opposite! Although I don't get any fps drops or stuttering in the Nexus against the Redmi 1s's low fps and frequent stutters, it still is disappointing looking at that quality of graphics. Is there any way to fix this?
P.S.: Have tried downloading the OBB from in-game as well as from Play store. Same problem. Also I have screenshots from both devices but can't post because of 10-post threshold.

i think maybe it is because of screen resolution..the developer should provide hd for tablet instead of play same resolution for large screen..

The game was specifically tailored for phones and 16:9 aspect ratio. The nexus 9 is 4:3 which makes games look graphically weird (like Real Racing 3) even though the tablet is capable of providing a crisp resolution. It's just poor optimization from the developers, or just lazy, I guess.

Real Racing 3: Nexus 10 vs iPad 3 video focus

Hi all,
Real Racing 3 it's a racing game just released by EA with gorgeous graphics for a mobile device platform.
If you want to know how does the Nexus 10 performs running this game with its beautiful 2560x1600 10 inches display, just give a look at this video:
http://youtu.be/8gy7XA0ZsAU
I made even a quick comparison with an iPad 3.
Ciaoooooooooo
Would be nice to see if the N10 can win against the iPad 4 though.

Mmmhh...if Real Racing 3 it's already a little bit better on the iPad 3 than on the Nexus 10, how can it wins against the iPad 4?!?!
I do really hope EA will release an update to catch up with the effects missing on the Nexus 10. :/

The iPad doesn't exactly "win" the iPad 3 runs graphic intensive games at a much lower resolution, for example, NFSMW has a lot more effects on the iPad 3 but you can also see the jaggy edges on all surfaces (it's most likely running at 1024x768 or 1440 by some number I forgot) My dad has one so yeah...
The iPad 4 on the other hand has one beast of a GPU and a lower resolution, for gaming, our nexus would be no match for it.

I wasn't talking in general, I was talking about Real Racing 3. If the game runs better on iPad 3 than on N10, the iPad4 cannot be worst.
Moreover, not every games run on the ipad 3 runs at lower resolution in respect to its display res (I own one...)
Given that, I don't think the N10 is less poweful of the iPad3, but for many reasons (one of those is hardware fragmentation of course) it's not that easy/worthwhile to write games able to use the whole "horsepower" of an Android device.
Anyway, yes, the iPad4 has actually one the the best GPU solution on any mobile devices, I guess the N10 just cannot catch up.
We will see if a new N10 with quad core cortexA15 and the Mali T658 could compete with it.

[Q] hoping to upgrade to a fullsized tablet soon..

I own a galaxy s3 and i recently sold my nexus 7. I primarily used my nexus 7 for games and comics and when i had some unexpected financial crap pop up the tablet was the first thing to go. I kinda wish i didnt sell it. Now ive gotten to looking around for different tablets and found the nexus 10 to be a sexy device, looks and feeling wise, but ive read that it has a ridiculous resolution that has very few optimized apps for it. i wondering if any of you might have any of the games ive collected off humble bundle on your nexus 10s and how well they work.
anomaly korea
avadon the black fortress
beat hazard ultra
bladeslinger
canabalt
cogs
contre jour
crayon physics deluxe
dungeon defenders
dynamite jack
eufloria
machinarium
metal slug 3
nightsky
plants vs zombies
solar 2
splice
super hexagon
sword and sworcery
swords and soldiers
the room
waking mars
zen bound 2
The only one I've had problems with it Machinarium, it had a very very bad framerate when I tried it on my n10. No problem with any other though.

i cant honestly say ive played or will play all of these games but im most concerned with machinarium, sword&sworcery, waking mars, and plants vs zombies.
One thing to remember is the Nexus 10 is primarily a media consumption device. Whereas the Nexus 7 is a gaming tablet. The Nexus 7 plays games for better then the Nexus 10 does.

The I/O speed is terrible on the Nexus 7, and and I personally think the Tegra chips such for anything but gaming. I have a Nexus 7 as well and there is a big browsing difference

ahhh.. has anybody put streetfighter 4 on their nexus 10?

Asphalt 8 Airborne high graphics quality

Hello,
I have received my first Tablet, the Nexus 9, yesterday and I love it so far.
But I experienced a problem with Asphalt 8 Airborne : I can't enable the high quality mode with the motion blur effect.

I'm having the same problem. Very annoying to not have the graphics all my other devices deliver with this new tablet.
I would say that there is a good chance the game will be updated for support and then it will be available
With the newest update, high quality is possible, and it looks and runs perfectly on the nexus 9, finally you can see what the K1 really can do.
Trust me asphalt 8 isn't pushing the K1, not when it also caters to peasant snapdragon devices. The other issue with compatibility is Google gimping the drivers which causes irregular behaviour for a tegra device

Horn game, bad graphics on Nexus 9

I'm not sure if this is the correct section..
I'm trying to play the game Horn on my Nexus 9 but the graphics look worse than on my old Nexus 7 with Tegra 3...
The textures are way more blurry and less detailed, but the framerate is fine, getting full 60fps.
anyone know how to change the graphics quality in this game? I haven't found ANYTHING in the main menu to change settings like texture quality..
its kind of a bummer that this great game looks like crap on a high performance tablet like the Nexus 9 ..
I don't think it is properly optimized for our chipset since it was last time updated long time ago.
well I don't understand why it works well on the Shield Tablet since it has the same GPU.

The Nexus 6P is a piece of cr*** for games, any games...

After owning that thing for more than 3 years(yes it still works and in use by my mother) and using a oneplus 6 for the last year I have decided that as much as I loved that the device it is a piece of garbage... The only things that makes it any good are the great cameras!
in the two years of using it as my main I loved the camera and the UI but gaming (anything, even 2d) was out of the question.
Simple 2D games that my friend's Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 ran at 60FPS I could barely play at 30.
Now after Years of being a Unity developer and creating complex games as much as simple games, No matter what I do I can't get the thing to run at 60FPS.
Then it hit me, The 6P can't run games even though it is more than capable and I have no Idea why...
In the attached image below, You can see the OnePlus 6 running the game in about 2.68 ms per frame and waiting for the the rest of the time to hit 16ms per frame.
below that you see the darn nexus 6p... it takes less than 4 ms to calculate the frames, it takes less than 1ms to calculate the logic yet the game spikes all over the place with waiting times of up to 50 ms making the game unplayable at 10-60 fps.
it is a very simple game: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Awesometon.ColorStomp&hl=en
This game runs easily on all other phones that I've tried(including my friend's Redmi Note 4).
I want to understand once and for all, Why does the 6P suck at performance so much to the point of being slower than a low-mid range phone?
It can clearly calculate the frames fast enough yet it fails to present them.
Devs?
Because its 3 years difference between them?
If you do not not have the intention to play Pupb or what's it called on a stable and well developed rom and perhaps in addition a good custom kernel with the right settings, have I difficulties to get a understanding of your expectations.
I am not that keen to game anymore, but some stuff like Implosion and some of the newer jump'n'run's with more attention on pastel/contrast richness, have I no noteworthy issues.

The mido has his issues as well, even with the often used Snapdragon 625 and such android plattform like MIUI.
They each have their own merits.

The problem is not gaming on PUBG and heavy 3D games, It's even on the most simple 2D games.
Simply moving a square on screen (or even an empty scene in unity) works slowly on this device.
Yes I know the redmi is newer however it is also weaker processing power wise...

That can very much be the case.. Therefore the comparison is a not that pointed out, hm.
I just tried a new port CS and the real time multi-player runs basically without lags.
The same goes for Implosion.
But I am not running for office.
Nevertheless remains the actual point of opening such a thread with this tone, beside the whining, just as quizzing; to be clear.
So next time, no Angler.
Please leave me not here with such essential questions hanging.
Many heaps
I think the main culprit is the 1440p screen. As far as I remember all the SD810 phones came with the 1080p display.
I trid GFX+ app for pubg. It will allow you to play PUBG at 1080p. I am able to play with slight lag. Much better than stick 1440p default.
If you can find an app that play all the games in 1080P resolution then you may achieve 60 FPS.
