Bought a Unlocked tmobile v10 on swappa, anything I need to know to use on MetroPCS? - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys I bought a unlocked tmobile v10 on swappa that I wanna use on metropcs. I'm currently on verizon and will be moving to metropcs. I ordered my sim card yesterday. Will I have any trouble activating my sim in the v10? When I type in my phone on the list on metropcs it doesnt list it as compatible but I know it will be. Ive heard metropcs sims are linked to the imei on the phone and only that phone. So I have to reactivate any time I swap my sim in and out of different phones.
Also will I need to change any APN settings for metropcs or does it use all the same bands as tmobile does?
Thanks Guys Cheers!:highfive:

The APN settings will be locked when you get the phone, so you'll need to go into the dialer, dial 277634#*#, find "APN Unlock", click that then select the unlock option. Reboot your phone, then add your MetroPCS APN settings

Since MetroPCS is on T-Mobile's network, it's possible you won't even need to change your APN settings. If you do I imagine they'd have them on their website, but I've never used their service

[Q] Verizon APN Settings

How can I find the Verizon APN settings? The apps I have seen don't work under ICS and my phone is not rooted (yet). I am not sure, but I think if I install a global ROM to allow me to buy a local sim in another country, I will need to re-enter the Verizon APN settings before I can use my phone in the US again. If I have this wrong, comments will be appreciated.
The Verizon APN is non-removable if you aren't rooted. You can add a custom APN to use in another country, but disable it or remove it and the Verizon APN will come back.

[Q] LG L9 P769 APN unchangable

I cannot modify and /or delete the APN of my unlocked tmobile LG L9 P769 10G. Now I can only make phone calls and text messaging; I cannot access data from my carrier. Does anyone have the same issue? How to fix this?
PS, P769 10G is still hard to root...
On my phone I had a default APN that I was not able to modify. However, I could add a new APN. Have you tried that? Who is your carrier?

My carrier is Straight Talk (AT&T). I can add a new APN, but I cannot activate the new APN. As a matter of fact, after I put the Straight Talk sim card in, there are three APN by default: ATT Phone, ATT WAP and ATT Broadband, but only ATT Phone can be chosen and none of them can be modified.

I'm not sure what else to tell you. I assume you are using the instructions from the following: http://straighttalksim.com/support-data.php
Mine uses AT&T as well and does show the defaults that ATT wants to use. However, I was able to add a new APN and then set it by hitting the radio button.
Have you tried restarting the phone after adding the APN?
Are you root?
I wonder if he tried my tethering hack and forgot that he made /system/etc/apns-conf.xml immutable.
If so all you need to do is run this command as root:
`chattr -i /system/etc/apns-conf.xml`
Then reboot just to be safe.

That link shows an LS990 ZV4 unlocked on an international carrier. Sprint has always been willing to unlock the SIM for use with an international carrier. Even with Google Translate, none of the posts on that site make any sense. Were you saying this somehow meant domestic GSM unlocking was now possible?
GSM for LS990
I did not find the answer there.

because the user indicates that they are cell phones with bad ESN.
this will unlock for domestic use? I have internationally unlocked, but would love to unlock domestic
Someone said change SPR to OPEN setup SIM and APN then change OPEN to spr reboot recovery wipe cache and this will make good for Domestic APN..I will try later on today and report back
Yeah it works...4G US GSM carriers
Im stoked to hear it works. 4g and spark hardly exists here. Can you report which carriers you connected to successfully with 4g? I heard only 3g was possible on tmobile (which has my interest for sim)

So what sim unlock method did you use? You are the first to claim your Sprint LG G3 is working with tmo and att. BTW, can you post some screens?
Customer already had the phone back..just root pull off build.prop change SPR to OPEN but back in phone make sure u check permissions..place SIM in phone use APN manager to add APN and then u can post screen shots [emoji2]

which parameter did u change in build.pro,I change the ro.build.target_operato and ro.carrier to open, the signal will show in satart quickly then instead of com.andorid.phone wrong all system ui wrong,u should toggle airplane mode then no wrong info. so I wander what u done could make it work fine with no wrong message? I need to wipe? or other operate?thx:laugh:
change ro.build.target_operator to spr instead of SPR.
changing it to OPEN will make the g3 crash over and over.

You need to fix the permissions to the build.prop to stop fc errors after editing the build.prop on the G3.
Everytime you edit the build.prop you need to fix its permissions before restarting your phone.

Unlocked LS992 used on GSM Network bu can't access data

Hey guys I was hoping that someone on here could help me with an issue on my LG G5. It is originally a Sprint G5 and I recently got it unlocked to use on AT&T's GSM network. Call/text works on it now after days of unlock struggle, but the data still won't work.
I have the MSL code and I have tried ##3282# to see what I can do on that menu, but nothing works. My APN settings under mobile networks doesn't let me change/add any networks so I'm just stuck. What should I try next?

Sprint Hotspot Hack

Bad news, the LTE functionality test hack used to edit apns on S9 and older phones doesn't work anymore. But good news is, if you know your MSL (all 0's for unlocked), you can create new APNs. Just dial ##3282#, put in your MSL, click APN Settings, and create a new APN with the same settings as APN2 LTE ... internet, but add dun at end of APN type.
You cannot modify the APN once you save it, but if you make a mistake, go to general management, reset, reset network settings to remove the APN you added and fix any problems.
Enjoy
EDIT: Updating profile deletes the APN so you should get used to creating new APNs frequently.

I do not believe so but I have not been able to verify yet. I can verify that it does switch APN because mobile data cuts off for a min when you switch to the one you made, and a similar procedure on the S9 did not count on my tethering data. I get 50gb and it didn't count at all, just my normal data. I will test with this new one though.
How can i get my sprint MSL ? Can I even get it from them if I am leasing the phone?

Just call andtell them you want it if they ask for what tell them you're a developer
Add button is greyed out... I am not unlocked, I used 6, 0's but it let me hit Ok
Hope to find better solutions.
Thanks this worked for me hopefully it sticks without profile getting updated.
How did you edit this my phone will not allow me to edit this its grayed out. I try to add a d it dose nothing
works. :good:
how to get "enhanced LTE" working? so LTE stay connected while on voice call?
It seems that after the new update, I can not change it to my new added apn. Anyone could help?
I just called Sprint and they have me all 0's as my MSL. So means I'm unlocked and I didn't even know. Unless they lied. I'm about to find out when I try this hack.
Update: boo add option is grayed out. I didn't take this newest update and I thought that was the update that prevented adding APN.
If I reset will it reset to the original software version I had when I initially bought phone or the last update?

It will reset to your current update. You could flash older though, as long as the bootloader's haven't changed, which I believe hasn't but could be wrong.

Thanks. I'm going to look for the version I had when I bought my phone 3/12/19.
I think that Hotpot is included with my Sprint plan. Yip I think it's 50gb hotspot.
Disregard.
Following along... MSL 0's, cant "add" anything... I rarely use the hotspot, but at times I *need* it.
Any idea if anyone has broken this yet? I’m in the same boat where even with my MSL the edit functions are greed out.
is this still working?
esqueue said:
I'm on the most recent update, Got it only a few days ago. I purchased the phone outright from Bestbuy and my MSL seems to be all zeros. I was able to successfully enable wifi hotspot. This was one of the main reason I rooted my phones in the past. I know that this will be patched out eventually but it's awesome at the moment though.

would love to know if sprint folks still have the workaround for the wifi hotspot. I'm sitting on an unlocked S10 that I haven't shoved my SIM card in yet because I absolutely need the hotspot sometimes...
