XIAOMI REDMI 3 English rom vs Multi-lingual rom? - Xiaomi Redmi 3 Questions & Answers

Ok, so just bought one of these little smart phones, apparently the seller didnt have a chance to flash the rom to the 'multi-lingual rom' and install google play store due to it being chinese new year and their engineer was already on holiday, so they sent it out in the default English rom, but they said they would send me the instructions on how to flash it to the multi-lingual rom, but im a little confused, why would i want to install the multi lingual rom? Im from England, speak English, the phone comes in default english rom, so why change it?
Does the Multi lingual rom come with English settings that do away with any of the sub chinese menus? Anyone know anything about these different roms?

What you'll have is the Chinese rom. I believe, though not certain, the multi lingual rom with have languages not supported in the Chinese rom.
It may also do away with Chinese apps / settings etc but not sure. Someone with it may be better to confirm that.
I'm waiting for a global rom, which they normally release for other phones. This would remove things like the Chinese app store, replacing it with Google services by default.

The unofficial multilanguage ROM has less chinese apps, google apps, and more languages. I would keep the original stable ROM, flashing any other ROM or rooting it can cause various issues.

I have the Vietnamese multilanguage rom and it's ok for now, but i would like to get rid of MIUI soon.

No Polish language? Also, does it give you any problems with GPS, or anything else? Is SuperSU preinstalled?

Unfortunately Polish is missing. But I've installed Google keyboard and at least i can type with diacratics. ROM is prerooted and theme is dowloaded via provided miui theme store. Didnt test the GPS.

ROM with Full Chinese Language Support

Hi, I'm looking for a ROM that has full Chinese language support. It doesn't matter whether it's traditional Chinese or simplified Chinese, although traditional is preferred. I'm planning to install it on a CDMA EVO 3D phone for a family member. I already tried MIUI v4 2.8.31 For HTC 3VO, but was disappointed that it only does a partial Chinese translation and no Chinese keyboard installed (see attachments below). Yes, I know about the Google Pinyin IME keyboard. Also, the Settings menu was mostly in English. Shouldn't a ROM that is translated from Chinese to English have full Chinese language support?
I also did a search with the keywords "miui not fully translated to chinese" and found TeamGenesisROM3D. I'm going to give that a try, but I want to know if there are others.

I actually had a good laugh at those pictures..
I would think you'd need to download the official MIUI. I know that I downloaded it a bit back by accident, installed it then realized it's all in Chinese. Literally, everything. I managed to find my way to the Settings>Language section, and there were no choices for anything other than Chinese.
Maybe try that?
If not, your best bet would be getting a ROM with Chinese support and requesting a flashable stock Chinese keyboard.

Yeah, I did consider the official MIUI, but I'm on a CDMA version of HTC EVO 3D so it's locked to the Sprint network. I remember translating the MIUI website to English and it said something about brush stroke not working on the CDMA version - whatever that means. Needless to say, I can't read Chinese and barely speak it. If only the family member was not on a Sprint account, we would have bought the GSM version of HTC EVO 3D and then I could flash the Taiwan version of the HTC official ROM.
PS, it's a no go on the TeamGenesisROM3D. After reading the post more thoroughly, I realized it was for the GSM version. :crying:

Hi but what's about Gapps? Is it ready inside the rom? Or if not it possible to install it? Cheers!
For Gapps, if I remember correctly you need to flash them (Android 5.1.1)

Can anyone help me PLEASE
I've looked and searched everywhere on how to either factory reset my Smartisan U3 or bypass lockscreen pattern. In Smartisan recovery mode ,by holding power+vol up at start up, their is no factory reset/erase data option! And adb can't get it to work on windows... { Just to give you piece of mind; it's not blacklisted etc so it's not stolen. Won it w/ 4 other phones as a lot, from a online police/govt auction site so it hasn't even been used in over a yr atleast }
.....anyone have a solution please please please help? I greatly appreciate any help at all. Someone must know how.
In Smartisan recovery mode(Pwr+Vol up) it lists:
Reboot system now
Reboot to bootloader( Selecting this just resets the phone to lockscreen)
Apply update from adb
Apply update from SD card( I tried loading files to add card and than putting back in the U3 but I can't find the file. When you select this option it opens up a long list of files. Even if no SD card is inserted)
Wipe cache partition

Very very nice. I hope someone is brave enough to test it, as I always need someone to go first
But you did a very nice Job!
Quick question: if I make a full Backup in twrp, then clean and Flash a New rom and the phone gets halfbricked or the rom is not really working good for me, can I just wipe in twrp and apply my Backup, to have the rom I had before + all my apps and settings?

For German language it isn´t necessary OTA file, only for advanced spanish translate :good:
Thanks for the rom! So far so good, smooth and responsive and for some reason the fingerprint scanner is better for me than stock.
I do get a few stutters iN animation - the menu in YouTube, with 3 dots opens very jerky every time. In Chrome its ok. In greenify it also stutters.
New OTA into my blog with more spanish apk translations.

[GUIDE][A2017U]Add More Languages to your Device

First of all, I'm not responsible for anything. Please backup your software via TWRP before to start.
I tested it on my device and it is working well. I will add a recovery zip to install original files in case if there is a problem.
You should have TWRP to make these steps.
1. Backup your software.
2. Install ZTE_AXON7_A2017U_AddMoreLanguage_ByWesTD
3. Reboot your device and set language what you want.
Download: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298962100
To remove:
Install ZTE_Axon7_A2017U_RecoverLanguage.zip and reboot.
It will stay same language but your original files. If you change it one time, you have to install zip again to get languages again.

Has anyone try this on B32 ? Want to be sure it works before going through rooting and everything.
I just got this phone for my mother without realizing the US version has so little support for different languages.
It seems both European and Chinese version have tons of languages, but very limited for the US version for some weird reason.

Wow! Thanks. I tried few locale setting apps and none worked, but this works great!
However, there is one issue. Configurations reverts back to English when reboot. It is set on whatever the language I set on MoreLocale 2 while rebooting, but once it has completed, reverts back to English.
Any idea how to make it stick? Perhaps run a script on boot up?
Another strange issue is weather program (both built in accuweather widget and weather channel). They are unable to find location (even when I manually search) with language set to any language other than built in languages.
Does this have Finnish?

I keep thinking that if someone can find the variant identifiers in the roms we can change it to the Chinese variable and make the phone think the International or UK rom is the Chinese one and spoof it into allowing it to use it as it's recovery install.

No, the rom itself needs to be signed. You can't do that without Oppo. Oppo is the ONLY option for you.
