Redmi Note 2 can't connect to Optus network (Australia) after update - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got a Redmi Note 2 from an overseas supplier. It had the location locked to China in settings and I had read in forums that resellers often load rouge ROMS before shipping them to Australia.
There was a newer version official ROM on the MIUI website as follows:
Author: MIUI Official TeamVersion: V7.1.3.0.LHMMICK (MIUI7) Size: 935M
I downloaded this ROM and installed it using the Recovery mode method detailed on the website (in the hope that this would ensure that Official ROM would not be compromised by the old ROM.
It installed OK, but now the phone can't access the Australian Optus Mobile network. Pressing the dial button just comes up "Access Denied".
Can someone please tell me what I have to do get the phone working properly again?

Redmi Note 2 can no longer access Optus mobile network
I did some further digging and it turns out the phone was actually connecting to the network. The phone dialler app on the home screen was not working for some reason and saying 'access denied'. I deleted it and re-added back and it worked. The network name comes up on he lock screen but not not the home screen for some reason. So it only looked like it is not connecting.

I bought a refurb n9005 but think it is an n900p - can you help?

Hallo xda note 3 sprint people.
I live in the UK and bought a phone here via ebay.
Initially the info within the phone on the about phone part of the system said N9005.
antutu checker said that I had N9005
I rooted the phone using towelroot, flashed twrp and flashed 4.4.2 x-note rom v18
This installed the phone info app and checking this saw that it had conflicting information.
Hardware revision n900p.12
Bootloader N900PVPUCNC5
PDA N9005XXUFNF4
(see attached pics)
Underneath the battery the phone says SM-N9005. (see attached pic)
It has the same imei as when I dial the code.
I put this imei into
http://www.samsungwarrantycheck.com/
and it said I have SM-N900PZKESPR
which again conflicts with what is said beneath the battery.
Considering the evidence, which phone do you think I have?
Is there any other way of confirming this.
I want to upgrade the phone but don't want to flash an incompatible bootloader.
Many thanks.
Same problem
Hi!
I live in Russia.
I have almost the same problem (e-Bay, fake model №...).
In addition, a few days ago, Wi-Fi stopped working.
When I try to turn on Wi-Fi it endlessly displays the status "Turning On ..."
Please let me know if you find a solution to your problem.
Go to download mode and see model there.. But i think your variant is n900p... I
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I have same phone 9005 but modem version is N900P, your phone is sprint , you can verify it by restarting on downloading mode, you will see your real model
This phone come from china, its original but for sprint (USA). You can install only sprint Stock rom, and 4G LTE will not work, because sprint use Band 25, 26 and 41. Only 3G will work.
Becarful when installing stock rom, because its possible to lock your sim (i have same case and i unlock it by SSU.apk)
The goood solution is :
1- Install TWRP 2.8.7
2- backup your current rom
3- Install custom rom like this :

[Resolved] Redmi note 3 pro used with Europe SIM card blocked in emergency mode

My phone's SIM card is not working as expected:
- it is recognized (The phone asks me for the password when he detects the SIM card and code is accepted)
- it says "No service" and of course, I do not get any services (no phone calls, SMS or data)
My history on this device so far (in case it matters):
- This SIM card worked when I received the phone from gearbest (and I upgraded to latest MIUI 8.0.5) and I could make a test call and send/receive SMS.
- Then I wanted to install CM13, I had to go to the unlocking procedure that didn't work as expected and required me to install Global Dev Roms (and this didn't work as expected) so I finished by flashing nearly all of the ROMs (Global, Global dev, China, china dev) using EDL mode. Quite quickly I notice that I lost functionalities upon the simcard : on some ROMs it would not even been seen (no sim card displayed, nor Wifi).
- I had to resort to a bootloader hack to reach unlocked state because official way did not work at all (blocked at 50%). And got on my way to install CM13... most ROMs would have the exact same problem than the official images: no sim card detected (and no Wifi neither BTW).
- It is only on the very latest ROMs for kenzo CM13, (> 2016-10) that I got back Wifi and sim card detection. Unfortunately, the sim card is still in Emergency mode and states "No Service"
- I flashed many NON-HLOS.bin with TWRP without seeing any changes (7.1.7 and 7.1.8 for the latest), but would be happy to get a link to the latest ones to continue trying.
- flashing the radio.zip mentionned in many comments breaks back to the "no Wifi and no SIM card detected" state, hopefully re-flashing NON-HLOS.bin 7.1.8 has re-enable previous better but incomplete state.
More raw info:
- the sim card is valid: it works in another phone straight away
- the antenna cable seems securely fastened (I opened the phone just to check this)
- I still have an IMEI when dialing *#06#, and it matches the number written on the sticker inside the phone.
- it behaves strangely when using the test interface *#*#4636#*#* : no network is displayed, has network type of "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)" that I can't change despite the many other choices listed in the menu. I can't also turn on radio signal.
Any help/suggestions to get back my 3G/4G SIM card services ?
==== THE ANSWER ===
Thanks to @corkiejp:
I don't have Kenzo (Standard Chinese Redmi Note 3 Pro) architecture but Kate (International Redmi Note 3 Special Edition).
How to check your version.
I needed only to flash the correct KATE radio firmware to sort it out.
Flash correct fastboot rom for your device again
@vaab69 Are you sure you have the "Kenzo" version? Maybe you got the "Kate" model and are flashing the wrong roms for your device.
Telling the Redmi Note 3 Pro (Kenzo) and Special Edition (Kate) apart!

Can you be more precise ? What is "correct" fastboot rom ? I have many of them, and already flashed all of the official ones (stables and dev, global and chinese, MIUI) and that didn't bring my SIM services back.

Wow, thanks, this was it ! I spent a lot of time on this skimming through many places. Dunno how I have not came across this !
I just applied the kate radios, and Tada ! it worked.
More info BTW for any other guy stumbling on this thread and wanting to get straight with KATE:

Is there any special things to do on the thread to mark it resolved, or to thank you ?
@vaab69 You could edit your original post in advance mode and Include "[Resolved]" in the title.

Unroot/flash Galaxy S 7 (SM-G930V/F?) to Stock Firmware or G930VVRS4BQC9

Hey Guys,
I've come across my limit of knowledge during the past days.
I purchased this new phone, "Samsung Galaxy S 7".
When I look up the "About phone" option in "Settings", it says, that it's a SM-G930F with android verison 6.0.1.
I couldnt find ANYTHING according to my Build number, which says: MMB29M.G930FXXU1BPIA or that my Smart Switch says, that the software version would be PIA(VZW).
But when I go into Download/Odin-Mode there are the following text lines:
ODIN MODE (HIGH-SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G930V
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: OFFICIAL
FAP LOCK: OFF
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
RP SWREV: B4(2,1,1,1,1) K1 S3
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
So, both informations are dividing from each other, because the first says it's a SM-G930F and the second says it's a SM-G930V, except that both have in common, that they say system status is official.
But, my problem is, as you can see, it's still marshmallow that is installed on my Galaxy S 7 and in my settings there is absolutely no possibility to update my phone to nougat.
I've tried several things via Odin like installing: Stock firmware for ADB, Nougat firmware for ADB, Stock firmware for VZW, Nougat firmware for VZW
But just nothing worked out.
Most common issues I had with Odin were: "sboot.bin FAIL!, recovery.img FAIL!, Complete(Write) operation failed.", depending on what kind of files I tried to apply, like pit file, AP-File, Home_CSC-File, etc...
Even if i tried to solve it with the most common troubleshoting methods i could find on google, there would be another issue, like a never ending story.
I also tried applying a firmware with recovery mode but there it says: E: "footer is wrong” ,followed by “E: signature verification failed", even if my SD-Card has never been encrypted.
I dont have any idea what to do anymore,
so i would extremely appreciate some help of a pro, who can tell me, what to do exactly.
Thank you!
*EDIT*
I managed to unroot the phone with the verzon nougat firmware but now it won't let me use the phone with a diferent SIM-card than a Verizon's and I'm going to return the phone.
Hi,
I'm facing the exact same problem.
Which Verizon firmware did you use to unroot your phone?
Thanks!

I managed to flash the latest Verizon ROM (SM-G930V_1_20170330100826_87cd9631jd_fac). Now it is obviously branded and I always get a message (after reboot/after ending airplane mode, so everytime the phone connects to a cellular network) that I'm using a non-verizon sim card. Nevertheless, after manually adding the APN, everything works fine, no SIM lock.
Edit: it works even better with this stock ROM w/o branding: updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=EF06A1ED34EB11E7963AFA163EE8F90B
Same Problem
Its showing 930f in my phone information
but when i go into download mode it shows 930v
cant update my phone it's still stuck in ****ty marshmallow
i would highly appreciate any sort of help.. TIA

you have the exact same issue as me. I suggest you review this thread, it would be helpful.
In summation, you have a converted phone. you can flash Verizon's rom if you want nougat. But that didn't help with my network issues.
Same problem
is this phone is not official what's the matter please explain
I'm also having the OP's exact same problem? I thought the phone I had just bought off gumtree was fake. I'm in Australia and noted that the model one the sticker on the back on my device is SM-G930F, the "about" page lists it as SM-G930F running 6.0.1, odin lists the as model SM-G930V, smart switch as PIA(VZW), CPU-Z as having it having a Snapdragon processor and finally the paper instruction manual is for a SM-9300 (China) - WTH!?
I cant seem to figure out which device it was or is ha! I believe it may be a chinese device that has been flashed to american standard. Is the the core point here, are these perhaps all flashed/refurbed chinese models?
Long story short, i'm not having any problems but i want a newer OS like oreo or nougat - if I flash to say SM-G930U standard with XAA (generic, samsung branding), will i begin having network issues in Australia?

IMEI trouble with redmi 5 plus

Hi guys, my uncle has given me his redmi 5 plus (Vince) for tinkering around or to fix, to say.
It was dead after minor ingress of water droplets. And person who my uncle gave phone to, recovered the mobile but it's IMEI numbers are lost.
So it's not getting any network.
So far I tried to flash lot many ROMs on it, developer global, global stable, China stable but condition is same.
Strange thing I observed is, in fastboot mode miflashtool gives error for all the ROMs...
Modem error.
And I can flash successfully only in edl model with testpoint method.
Btw mobile is stock, i.e bootloader is locked and it's not rooted. Has stock recovery as well.
And I can't unlock bootloader without Sims functioning based on requirements of xioami.
I could re instate imei numbers finally with one desktop app and opening diag port with ussd code but still mobile isn't getting any network (with back cover opened. I haven't installed it back yet since it's too hard to remove it if required. Don't know whether it has something to do with network reception.)
Don't know what's the reason as I am not aware of telecom technicalities like baseband etc.
So any inputs are welcome and appreciated.

Sim issue Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro

So I have a rooted Galaxy J7 pro with me (SM-J730f/DS)
This phone was rooted and it was blocked at boot showing "Custom Binary Blocked by OEM Lock"
I went into Odin mode and there wasn't anything that showed a country code. So I downloaded a stock rom according to my country and it's carrier was open (which I thought meant any carrier, I mean there ain't any career named "open" in my country) So I flashed it using odin, everything went smooth. The phone is performing well but after inserting sim cards, it detects the sim but doesn't work. Shows "unable to connect" and "error while connecting" when I tried to set network manually.
I probably should now flash the correct firmware but I don't know in which country this phone belongs. I dialed *#1234#* but I obviously got the information about the rom I installed.
In the back of the phone "UK" is written after the model number (SM-J730F/DD, Samsung, Yateley, GU46 6GG, UK) but I couldn't find a UK rom. I looked into Imei.info but couldn't find any info about region.
Is there anyway to fix the issue other than trying every J7 firmware there is
