[App][4.0+][NoRoot] ReverseTethering NoRoot - The Best Apps You've Never Heard of

Hi,
I was constantly annoyed by the poor wifi signal when I had my devices connected to the computer, so I wondered why I could not use my computer's Internet connection on the Android devices when they were already connected via a USB cable. Extensive Google searches only showed solutions that would not work at all or required the Android device to be rooted. That's when I decided to develop my own solution:
ReverseTethering NoRoot allows you to share your computer's Internet connection with your Android device via a USB cable.
Use Android apps that require Internet in places where you don't have or are not allowed to have a wireless Internet connection!
Your Android device's Internet connection is slow and unstable? You've your Android device already connected to your computer for charging, file syncing or app debugging? Why not use your computer's fast, stable Internet connection on your Android device?.
Features:
Use your computer's Internet connection on your Android device
Works with Mac, Windows and Linux
Works on all Android versions starting from 4.0
NO root needed
Easy set-up, no messing around with tons of command lines
The only way to have wired Internet on devices that do not support Ethernet
There is also a pro version with these additional features:
Connections longer than 10 minutes per 30 minutes
Get rid of the ads

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floriandraschbacher.reversetethering.free
PRO Version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.floriandraschbacher.reversetethering.pro
Please keep in mind that this is the very first version of the application. There will be issues. Please report them below and I'll give my best to fix them as soon as possible. The app was tested on Android 4.1, 4.2 and 6.0, but it should work on all devices running Android versions 4.0 and above.:fingers-crossed:
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions! Any feedback is highly appreciated !

I just released version 1.0.1 with these changes:
Improved speed on older devices
Bug fixes

Great

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback
As I've mentioned in the app description, some apps do not recognize ReverseTethering's connection because they only look for a Wifi or 3G connection. This is not an issue of ReverseTethering, but of those third-party apps. If you want to use ReverseTethering with such a third-party app, please contact the respective author of the third-party app.
As a side note: This incompatibility of some third-party app is nothing specific to ReverseTethering NoRoot, but applies to all reverse tethering solutions.

Thanks for the app.I will give it a try and send you my feedback.

Hi!
Is the server program running? Does it say it detected the device?

This app works fine on Android ICS. I am able to access full internet. I managed to download apps from google play . There is an Xposed module (HackserviceConnectivity) which fools the apps that they are connected to wifi or mobile network. Device needs to be rooted though. But I cant tether the tethered internet. I need to tether he tethered internet via WiFi tether but it is not working. unable to access the internet. Any idea?

please give me a link to download reverse tethering server application,as the program needs this running in windows.

On my Galaxy Note 8 (JB 4.1) and Galaxy S4 (JB 4.3), sharing the reverse tethered connection via wifi tethering worked. Please note I switched the device to offline mode, then connected reverse tethering, then started wifi tethering. For starting wifi tethering, I used my app FastFileTransfer (link in my signature), because the System UI does not allow enabling wifi tethering when in offline mode. Being in offline mode might have been essential, so just try if it helps.

The windows program is available here: http://fdmobileinventions.blogspot.com/p/reversetethering-server.html. Let me know if you need further help setting it up.

OP, add a copy of the free app at the end of the thread. People would find that interesting. Good job!

Use Android phone as a USB webcam?

Hey
Whats a (perfer free) application/mobile application for using my Android phone as a USB webcam? Id understand that I would have to install something on my PC as well.
If it can be Bluetooth and/or WiFi even better
Thanks
I have used something like that before, and it sucks over usb
Wifi would be preferred
Google "camera over wifi android" or search for "camera over wifi" in market

But can this be used in things such as messenger and Skype?
Check out Remote Web Desktop from the market, it has an option to connect via wifi and view your phones camera with your browser.
The best USB webcam app for android is DroidCam.
But if you have Wifi, go for IpWebcam. The WiFi option is more easier and flexible. To use with USB, you need to install adb on your computer as well. Wifi just needs an app on your phone and a client driver on your PC. See this for details on configuring both -
Android as webcam using IP Webcam and DroidCam.
Yes Droidcam works very well

I was looking for something that a program that uses a webcam (such as Skype) be able to detect and choose my phone as a webcam and use it as such.
Not Wifi, I need usb and driver installed on Windows System. Please stop proposing wifi and ip camera apps. Do you know any good USB
and not WIFI solution? But not via any client app on PC, I just want to be my camera visible as device in Windows Device Manager and be able to connec to it from any application.

[Q] Applications not getting installed from PC to device.

Hi all,
I have recently bought my Galaxy S2 and I am trying to install apps from android market. I log in to my Gmail account on PC internet and connect my S2 with PC. Then I chose the free app like Angry birds to be installed. Now on the webpage it shows below the app this message: "This app is compatible with your AirTel Samsung GT-I9100.", which means my phone is connected and compatible.
Then I clicked on the install button and a pop up appeared saying that the application will be installed [or downloaded] to your device shortly. But after that nothing happened. I waited for a long time and there is nothing on my S2. I checked the Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications, and it doesn't show anything there.
I am NOT connected to internet on my mobile, because I want to utilize my PC internet which is broadband. I have not enabled any other setting on S2 before doing this. I have only enabled the Settings -> Applications -> Unknown Sources option for convenience. Even the USB debugging is also disabled.
Can someone please let me know what I am missing? Or if there are any other additional settings that I need to do? Please help guys, I am pretty new with this android stuff...
Thanks in advance...!!!
It cannot download to your phone without it having a running internet connection I'm afraid.

Yes you need internet connection on your phone also, you cannot install it via the pc's broadband connection. Do one thing download connectify and make your pc as a wifi hotspot and then connect to the hotspot and then begin downloading.

Or you could enable data connection on your device like edge or 3g.
Now that you have a smartphone you should probably get it activated.
Airtel has plans like Rs 98 for 2gb Edge.
Thanks a lot guys for the replies.

Is there an app for android like connectify?

I need to do the same thing i do with connectify but in my phone, i connect to the web with my wifi and share internet with the same wifi adapter.
i been looking into it for a while and people keep on say that i need 2 widi adapter for it but is SO no true coz i have and use only 1... I don't wanna use bluetooth at all or connect it with usb.
If anybody knows of an app that does this magic please let me know.
Thanks.
Have you tried wifi tether?

Thanks for the reply.
I havent find a tethering app that let me share my wifi connection over the same wifi adapter.
I am not looking to share my data plan by the way, Connectify work as a wifi repeater, so you log in to a wifi and the software let you share that same connection any way you like even simultaneously over the same wifi adapter.
I'm sure you have good reasoning, but why don't you connect the other device directly to the same wifi your phone is connecting to? are you trying to use your phone as a range extender?
If that is all you are doing, seems to me to be a waste of a good device.
You could go to dd-wrt.com, find the list of supported routers, then buy a cheap router that is supported and then flash that firmware. Then set up as needed.
I have been using that for years, except in wireless bridge mode.

I know this thread is super old...
one reason i have is open routers that need a login after connection. I have yet to get a repeater to work with one of these networks but connectify works as you connect your computer say yes i accept and then start sharing it.

You mentioned that the WIFI Repeaters donot work with Open Networks. Are you talking about "Wireless Repeaters and Range Extenders"? such as this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SQvaGEKOxc
fqrouter2 is the solution
Use fqrouter2 for rooted Android devices and you have a perfectly working WiFi Repeater (available free in Google Play Store)

Hello npg500, I installed the app you suggested but i am not satisfoed with it.
fqrouter doesnot "externds the range" of the WIFI. it just routes the internet connection though the Android phone it runs on (possibly by the MITM), keeping the routed device on the same network as it was before. i installed fqrouter to increase the signal strength from my Basement wifi. but no success. it shows my PC in the Scan area. but as mentioned it doesn't extends the Range.
Anynody having any idea what App can serve that functionality? Or Am I doing something wrong somewhere?
Anyone can suggest how to work this wifi repeater or extender mode on S5?
fqrouter is saying wifi is not supported on S5 but it does have MITM
Hi guys i see you know sometging about this...basically my neighbours gave my wifi password i typed it on android and i taught to share the connection from phne to laptop..is that possible?

You can simply view the password from your phone and input it in your laptop. Or, except you are experimenting something.

Why there's no other app like FQrouter2 app?

I don't know about this feature of turning our android device into Wi-Fi repeater until I come across this app Fqrouter2 and the sad part is, it's not working currently I don't know the reason, it's even pulled down from the Play Store. Is there anyone in development interested in making such app or already trying? I searched the internet and couldn't find a similar app like this, it has other features as well but Wi-Fi repeater/extender caught my eye. If anyone can come up with only Wi-Fi repeater/extender feature app, that would be great. Thanks.

AFAIK most devices/wifi chips can use either AP mode (WiFi Hotspot) or connect to an existing WiFi. I guess it just works with some devices/WiFi chipsets.

Even I was under this impression for long time. I got to know with this App you can use Wi-Fi and Extender(Hotspot) simultaneously.
Edit: It works only on rooted devices, I can install the app but unable to execute it on both Marshmallow and Kitkat.
I wish there is one. Wifi extender/repeater is a catching feature

Try netshare-no-root-tethering on Google Play, tested and works on my Marshmallow device. You connect to a wi-fi, turn on the netshare app, and it creates another wifi network like mobile hotspot that other devices can connect to.
So does FQrouter2 still work on Android 4.2.2? Or did it require ancient versions of Android to work?

As far as I can tell, this is the only working app. Tested on AOSP Marshmallow Galaxy S4 - I took my sim card out to make sure it wasn't using mobile data, and it works! Shares your WiFi as another network. Unfortunately the app is ugly as all hell and doesn't let you change the name or password of the hotspot. Plus it requires you to use some dodgy proxy thing so it's not quite as good as fqrouter used to be. Anyone know of any other apps?
EDIT: also doesn't seem to play well with HTTPS

Hey mate! Do you have apk of the pro version of this app? Thanks.
Alternative
By the way, i found this similar app in Playstore which is completely free. ) See attached.
It still requires a proxy to be able to connect the devices.
Unfortunately, I need an app that will repeat wifi without the need for a proxy, as the device I want to use it on has no options to enter proxy.

I don't think that will work. When you tether your 4G connection, Chromecast will connect to the Wi-Fi hot-spot that is created by the phone, while your Mate 10 pro is still connected in 4G.
So they are not connected on the same network as it's required for the Chromecast to work.

I have an old Chromecast here, so i will try, but i don't think it will work.
Maybe it would work with this configuration :
1) Mate 10 pro used for tethering, creating a Wi-Fi hot-spot
2) Chromecast connected to the Wi-Fi hot-spot
3) Laptop (or other device) connected to the same Wi-Fi Hot-spot
But honestly, i never tested this kind of configuration.
