The Verizon XT1528 and the AT&T/GoPhone/Cricket XT1527 have locked bootloaders that do not qualify for the Moto Bootloader Unlock program.

[Q] Will flashing a custom ROM undo my carrier unlock?

I have a Telus HOX+. It is carrier unlocked. Will I, in any way, undo that if I flash another ROM (say, MagioROM, for example)?

Thank you, that's good news for me.

Anyone unlocked their bootloader yet?

I am wondering whether unlocking the boot loader through the moto tool works. Anyone tried?

I saw in the general section that someone successfully unlocked there bootloader through the official Motorola website tool. However for future reference questions should always be posted in the Q&A Section, not in the Original Development section :good:.

Tried to unlock but the moto site said "your device can not be unlocked". And when I checked back in the eligible devices to unlock, moto E India wasn't there on the list.. Any Indian moto E owner unlocked?

Give it another try. Make sure you copy the unlock data/device id correctly.
BTW, You do know it'll void your warranty. Just saying.
Also, since Moto doesn't have an official support page for India, they probably didn't list it. However, I know a friend who did unlock it without any issues. So that makes at least 2.
Thanks.. I would give another try soon..

Doesn't matter what variant you have. Just follow the guides (Stickies) in the general section.
Only the carrier locked devices are not eligible for BL unlock. Rest can be unlocked officially by Moto.

Thanks, butIts the same guide, but when i sign in to moto's site it says my BL can't be unlocked. Any alternative to that ??

There's a slim chance that once the Lollipop tft is released it can be rooted.

What is the model of the device? Be more specific how are we supposed to help when all you've said is that you need to root a device...
use Kingroot latest version. I just did it on my GF4. Then if you want to switch to custom recovery, just create it yourself by MTK Droid Toos.

Moto E Lte XT1538

Alright. What about root? Custom rom via safestrap or bootstrap? Anything? Lol

Temp root via Kingroot, but you don't get /system write access. No perm root, no full root, no ROMs, no bootloader unlock, etc
Thanks guys

I noticed something under Developer Options, *OEM Unlocking* Does that mean in the future Motorola will allow it?? I wish because with stock rom, it doesn't have much ram available. Well either way my sister will be happy, lol. Again thanx for your replies.

Motorola does allow it. VZW and ATT are the reason their versions are locked down. Sprint/TMo/USCellular/international are all unlockable via moto.
