How to install it on my HDD ? - Remix OS for PC

Hi, So I've got a notebook that I don't use anymore and I would like to put Remix OS / Phoenix OS on it, but wherever I look I can't find any tutorial about how to get this OS on the internal HDD !
The point is that I don't want to us it on a USB drive, and I don't want a Dual Boot either, I just want to have Remix OS / Phoenix OS as the main and only operating system on that computer.
Anyone has a solution ? Already tried to take the HDD out and use USBMaker to burn the OS directly to the HDD, but USBMaker (and other software such as Unetbootin) won't even show my hdd in the USB list ...

Make usb
Yhan maje a partition on hhd than copy all files fro musb to yout partion. And than boot from partion. And i guess you di t oook either cuz there is plwnty of thread to install in on HDD
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk

Just copying the files from the USB Drive to the HDD doesn't work, I get a boot error when I try to boot from the HDD by doing so...

So I've tried everything I could, but I still can't get those OS to boot from the internal HDD ...

What error do you get... im guessing you dont have ufi system?. Try searching on youtube.. There is plenty of atep by step videos.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk

"Boot Error" That's what appears on my screen.
Every videos are showing how to dual boot... My goal is to install this OS on my laptop which has no OS installed yet, the only thing I managed to do is to boot on Phoenix OS with the USB Key, but that's too laggy as my USB ports suck.
Yes I'm on Legacy.
The strange part is that they don't provide a bootable image which actually INSTALL the OS, they only provide an IMAGE of the OS already usable...

You could try this installer.
For the distribution scroll all the way to bottom and select unknown.
Check the box for show all drives.
Edit...helps if I post the link.

partition tool questions, installing to the internal device...questions from the noob

Thanks everyone, i bought a 16bg nook tablet (for the 1gb ram) and booted from the SD successfully. but now have a couple more questions....
1) partitioning, i get, its easy in gparted or the windows manager, but for the life of me i do not see a quick guide on how to partition *correctly*. i see 5 partitions on the sd card, and the guide says to expand 4... but it wont let me. i have not tried gparted yet, but i assume if i cant expanded it now (in windows) that i am doing something wrong and will just bork it up in gparted. so.... any links to working partition guides ?
fyi, the partition tool in cm7 in the "cm7 settings" only gave me the option of "512 megs"... so not sure.. but i think the installer made the wrong partition sizes ? dunno... im new and assuming alot based on alot of windows crap and limited linux interactions...
2) installing TOO the device itself: in the one guide above it does not mention rooting, so i assume when you boot to cm7 off a sd, and then go to "install image" that it will root, lay down the new image and all is well... am i correct in that assumption?
3) recovery, i know i will kill the install eventually. im the kind of guy to tinkers and has to re-install windows and backtrack on a regular basis. what i have not seen is how to restore to factory. is it something like my htc glacier? like this link implies ? http://nooktalk.net/nook-faq/nookco...-how-do-i-do-a-hard-reset-system-restore.html
4) if i unplug the usb cable.... i no longer boot into cm7 on the stick... is there a way to not have this happen aside from writing over the image ?
thank you all for your patience!

Remix OS freeze on boot

When you boot up press "e" to edit the boot info, place DEBUG=2 into the script after 'androidboot.hardware=remix_x86_64' so it looks like 'androidboot.hardware=remix_x86_64 DEBUG=2' hit F10 (softly)
Debug boot should begin.
Type exit when prompted, ignore any warnings that might come up concerning hardware not being picked up, type "exit" when prompted to do so to move on. After a few times typing "exit", does an error like this continue to roll up your screen: "init: Couldn't probe module 'net-pf-16-proto-5' "? :fingers-crossed:
i make a video

A quick question. Are there any other drives connected?
You could try actually install it onto your SSD from the boot up.. Your SSD would need 2 partitions though.. One is FAT32 (around 3GB large) and the other can be FAT32 or NTFS, it wont make a difference. If you want to know how to do the install from boot then just send a reply asking.
I have just tried with a different machine and I'm getting a full SELinux error. I doubt that there is anything that we would do.. (I'm not pro enough to go reading through the actual OS files... ) Not all PC's are supported unfortunately. Mine is not, I have had better luck running Remix OS in Virtual Box, well... before the latest release at least. Now I'm getting errors that seem to have been around since Android_x86 project began.
Another option would be to try the Legacy version if your motherboard is able to boot legacy. (Sorry, have not tried looking at your MoBo)
My advice (which I am also following) would be to be patient and just hold out for a while. Until the next update comes along for us to try.
More support is intended on being added with every release.
all my files is in a fat32 partitions and work on my laptop is just my pc ... wont works
Are there any other drives connected?
yes i have 4 drive with my pc
If it is working on your laptop then settle with that for now.
No, not other drives would be recommended, just saw them in the debug at the beginning.
The error that seems to be coming up for you and I (this is as far as I understand) has to do with kernel security settings as to what to allow on boot. The issue can arise when certain files have not been given the policy labels that they require to run. So they effectively get denied constantly. This is likely where a lot of the added hardware support will sort things out... I'm also running an NVidia Card.. could be the drivers needed..(although that would not explain why VM's don't work)
Sorry that I cannot help you mate.. This is going too deep into the realm that I know little about when it comes to the actual stuff. I follow instructions when having to make a change to my Linux distro.
I do envy you having the latest version working on a device. My laptop wont boot for me either.
You could try the Andriod_x86 forums and see what the common threads are. Seeing as Jide is using android_x86 as a base.
If anyone else knows more and is able to shed light on the matter, please do so? I am also up to correction on my statements.
I asked the same question on other forums and on google group

Install on Hard Disk without create partition?

Until now I was testing Remix on a flash drive, most of the stuff is running great, so I think it's time to try it on the HD.
So here's the question, it's possible to install RemixOS on HD without create partition?
I want Remix to be installed in a regular folder in my HD, with an option to select it in the OS selector when PC starts, and I want it to use data.img instead of something else... Basically just like Phoenix OS.
Is this possible?
Thx..
Cheers...

dude, all you need to do is to look on jide's web
For Hard Disk Installation:
NOTE: Currently, installation tool only supports Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10, with a minimum capacity of 8GB. Users of other operating systems, please install on USB flash drive.
1. Download the Remix OS for PC package, which contains the Remix OS for PC ROM & Installation Tool.
2. Open the Remix OS Installation Tool and follow the instructions to install Remix OS for PC on your hard disk.
3. Reboot your PC.
NOTE for UEFI boot: press special key (F12 for Dell, F9 for HP, F12 for Lenovo, Option Key for MAC) while booting to enter boot menu and ensure that Secure Boot is disabled.
4. Select Remix OS in Windows Boot Menu.

Thanks, I already saw this...
But in this guide it's not clear what the installation tool will do, if it will create partitions, if it will format something etc... Take the USB installation as an example, I never thought it would create 3 partitions on it...
That's why I'm asking this... Besides, I saw many people unable to boot into Windows after some sort of HD installation of Remix.
Have you tried this method of installation?
If yes, how is the structure of the directory, what files are in there, is it using data.img?
Cheers...

The hard drive installation will create a folder called "RemixOS" and add a boot entry for it in the Windows boot loader. In that folder is the kernel, initrd.img, system.img, menu.lst and some other files. An 8 GB data.img will be created on first boot. Those who have problems with booting are typically using a third-party method to install it.

It appears that for the issue mentioned in the link you posted the solution is to simply disable Secure Boot. I don't have much experience with UEFI myself, but on a BIOS system the installer worked perfectly, it didn't break either Windows or Linux Mint.

Fortunately (I hope) I'm on BIOS as well, cause I heard somewhere that disabling secure boot prevents Windows to boot. I don't know if it's a Windows requirement on UEFI machines...
Now it's time to build courage to install it....

I expanded the data.img using this tutorial (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-tp2/138623-how-get-bigger-data-img.html). Don't mind the fact that it was originally made for Windows Mobile devices running Android on SD card, the concept is the same (add zeros to the end of data.img, then expand the partition table in the data.img to cover the extra space).

Where I can choose this, in the installation tool?
And does it take too long to boot? I'm asking this because I expanded the data.img of Phoenix OS, and since then it takes a lot more time to boot.

nope, as long as your data.img is much smaller than your actual harddisk, you will have no problems with speed.
yes, the instalation tool asks you what size you want to use, either 8, 16 or 32 GB can be chosen

Black Taskbar on Remix OS PC last version (2.0.205) 64 bit UEFI

Hi my friend,
I have just installed the last version of Remix OS PC 64 bit UEFI (build 2.0.205) on my desktop, but after the restart, the taskbar seems like a black rectangle, without any button on it, just all black. I can't use the system without the taskbar, I have just tried to insert the line ro.remixos.no_wallpaper=true in the build.prop file, but it doesn't work as I expected. The taskbar continues to remain black and unusefull.
Have you an idea as I can resolve this problem ?
My sistem specs is:
Motherboard: Asrock QC5000-ITX/WiFi
Disk Drives: Samsung SSD 120GB (dual-boot)
Graphics Card: AMD Radeno HD8300
CPU: AMD A8-4500M APU
BOOT: UEFI
OS: Remix OS Build 2.0.205 (64 bit UEFI)
Thank you in advance for any helps
Best
Francesco

How you resolved it would be very helpful, thanks.
I Just resolved in the following way:
I expanded the system.img file with RMXTool software, the inserted the line
ro.remixos.no_wallpaper=true
in the build.prop file located in \system_\
then rebuilded system.img and copy it in the place of the original system.img file.
After reboot, all the system was ok and taskbar appeared 100% functional.
Let me know if you need some extra help

Make external HDD bootable for RemixOS

Hi everyone,
When I use the RemixOS install tool under my Windows-PC to install RemixOS on the hard drive which will go into my Laptop-PC, the tool makes the hard drive bootable from my Windows-PC by adding the RemixOS bootloader with 2 options (Windows or RemixOS) as a dualboot but I don't want this. I just want to install RemixOS on a hard drive which will be the only OS on my Laptop-PC. How can I do this ? I want the hard drive to be bootable by itself because I won't use it on my Windows-PC but on my Laptop-PC. (PS : my Laptop-PC doesn't have any OS, I want it running RemixOS, alone).
Same issue.. someone knows how to fix this?
Someone, back in my days (when we fcked with remix 2 rooting), posted an alternative RemixOS HDD creator. It was a Simply installer, just like what is included and given by default. BUT it could do what you (we) want and you could give as much storage for your RemixOS as much you want. Ill try to fo find that stuff. Ill write here if I find any solution.
