About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days -- it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and gained contributors in the process. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew further with experience and learned a lot more along the way.
It has been an awesome learning experience and it's still not over! We are still learning, striving to grow each day, and continuing to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We do not believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going comes out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All that we do ask is that you have patience, search for answers prior to posting, read, and try to enjoy the process with us!!

I couldn't wait an official build.. I had to try it out, so I've compiled it and why not share the build?
The ROM needs better implementation for our device.. I'll work more on it when I'll have time.
So far those are the bugs that I've found:
Blootooth Share has stopped.
My external sd-card is recognized like corrupted (I didn't follow the suggestion from the ROM to fix it.. I can't loose all the staff that I've in it).
Trying to install a theme from the store or trying to apply a theme from theme manager will make the phone reboot.
For that you may want to try this:
I'm getting a FC from the theme chooser, what gives?
This is due to restoring data/apps from Google. Go ahead and clear data and cache for theme chooser and theme provider then reboot you should be good moving forward.

Fingerprint able?

Finally Dirty Unicorns is making its name in the Note 4 community!
Used to use DU on my Note 2 as my every day daily driver. Was the best ROM ever imo.
Please bring it back and make this the best ROM for the Note 4!
Best ROM ever, I honestly cannot wait for this. Flashing right now to try it out.
EDIT - SNAPCHAT CAMERA ISNT LAGGY?
All CM12-13 Cameras are laggy for me, this is amazing though!
Flashed with Pico GApps --- Incase that makes a difference.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BUGS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Video recordings dont work on snapchat OR normal camera. always crashes and restarts the camera. Will be running this for later, will follow updates. Neither front or back camera work in Video.
2. Trying to change any type of LOCKSCREEN in the settings, instantly crashes. (Even tried setting up Pattern or Pin in the setup, changes don't save.)
3. Setting up fingerprint crashes.
4. SD Card wants format before use. MAY be a big deal to some people.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Will Post more bugs as they come. Gonna try it as a daily driver.

Wow, never thought that one day I will see this one for our device

Yes , I think it's the best AOSP based ROM.
@_mone : I know you have several other ports but I think that this the port you should continue and stop all the others
Anyway , it's only my opinion my friend
Thank you again. Can't wait to try this one when I am home

I'm with you! Get this ROM to the top man I have about 4-6 friends that would be on this in a heartbeat if it was stable enough to use as a full Daily driver. For me its just the passcode lock and the Video at the moment.
SD Card is a huge issue if it doesnt work - Just backed it up and am going to format my 128GB to see if i can get it to work. Will edit and update if it works or not.
EDIT - SD Card does work once formatted. For me, once i formatted about 30 secs later it rebooted and then all was good. Checking to see if there are anymore problems with it now (Reading or Writing to the SD)

Yep I agree. This is favourite rom of many users here, and probably the best AOSP rom. I would focus in this project if I was you.

Downloaded DU and making a nandroid - will try this one on my N910F... nice to see DU for our Note4 - thx @_mone
Edit: Installed DU and my first impression is very good. Some bugs i found:
- in settings you can't change lockscreen-security (settings fc)
- SD-Card corrupt (like _mone said in op)
The rest of this rom is very good BIG thx @_mone

Can you take Videos on this ROM??
Commented earlier with some bugs if you can find them. Also got SD Card working (Needed to wipe it though, backup everything first then reload it)

i flashed, but it wouldnt go past the samsung logo on boot. any ideas?

for me it booted ok - i made full wipe with cache/art (dalvik) cache / system / data in TWRP, then installed this ROM and OpenGApps nano (for ARM) in one flash and rebooted system. At first it shoed up the Samsung Galaxy Note 4-Logo - here i waited a few mins and then it rebooted from self and booted right into the ROM.
Perhaps this could help you....

Dirty Unicorns is a custom ROM built with stability in mind and optional customization. The idea to start this ROM began out of pure boredom around 4.1.2 on the EVO 3D and later turned into a form of an addiction (a good one) to see where we could go from there. We have since expanded to more devices to include the HTC One, Nexus 5, SGS4 and many more. We quickly realize that users loved what we were doing as well as other developers because it was done the right way. We've always had fun doing it and take pride in knowing that we've done it without having to bug the end user for donations to pay for server costs and/or any of those sob stories you hear. This ROM is 100 percent free and will remain that way.
Those wanting to use our ROM as a base are more the welcomed to do so but please maintained the credits/thanks below, do not ask for donations as it wouldn't be fair to do so considering and let us know as we often like to contribute to other projects.
As stated above, we love to maintain authorship but we also like to publicly praise those that have helped us along the way with our wonderful project. With that said, this wouldn't be possible without the work and help of those listed below THANK YOU ALL!!
| OmniROM | AOKP | CM | ChaOS | Paranoid Android | Slim ROMs | Preludedrew | Team Black Out | Official Testers / Translators |
Please check our gerrit/github for full credits/thanks of individual contributorsBelieve it or not, we are human and we do forget things. If we have left someone out of the credit/thanks list, just PM us and we'll gladly add on to the list.

Sorry for asking and wasting your time but in the OP the screenshots were provided so inconspicously that I totally ignored them. Thanks for the link. I will surely give it a try when I will be in the flash mania again, and I am sure it will be pretty soon
Keep up the good work :good:

Hi Team,
Could you please let me know which gapps should i flash on this rom.
banks core - size 22.5 MB
pa_gapps - size 283.5 MB
or
ALT. GAPPS (Team Blackout) - size 155 MB
Hi @GIJS053 & @chasmodo,
Thank you so much guys for making this happen on the i9100 (S2).... Although I don't have this phone myself, I know a couple of mates who do... And I've been showing off the old / last build, back in Feb of this year, showing what it can do compared to stock rom. And showed them what the latest version does (thanks to Chasmodo) on the N7000 (Note).
So am well pleased to see its officially supported on this device now. Can downloaded the latest build, and show them what they are missing...
Thank you, Lister
I'm curious about this Rom so am downloading it. Do you guys have any tips for a noop as me to the Rom to make it run smoothly.
sorry for my bad English

Banks is recommended if you don't like/need the google apps like g+, hangouts etc.

So...
This will or won't work on a G900W canadian phone? Probably going to try it anyway just to see.
Just flashed my all time favorite ROM and it flies. Thanks dev and hope it will be maintained.

Thanks mate... Great stuff (gonna try flashing this soon).
Just one stoopid question though. You recommend Banks GAPPS, but no link (and he no longer maintains it).
Anyone tried PA GAPPS with this (or can recommend an alternate)?

FAQ
Q) No SD bug after flashing build?.
A)Run these commands in terminal emulator:
su
restorecon -FR /data/media/0
Q)cm12 themes fails to install.
A)Use those kernels having 'themes' added in service_contexts.
Or use a kernel that comes in 'Any-kernel' format. I use ZEN-KERNEL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...3-10-zen1-dollar-drink-night-bfs-msm-t3062814)

OK, you how have both the coolest avatar and set of rom offerings for this device.
I'm flummoxed.
But the anachronistic creation and last updated dates are icing on the cake (how'd you do that?)...looks like I'm posting whilst you're editing.

Thank you! Downloading now! Was saddened when they closed the other thread and stopped building for shamu.
you sir just made my night/day! i absolutely love this rom! thank you! you kick ass!
Just out of curiosity, will this eventually be RRO Layers or continue with CM Themes? Rom is pretty smooth so far. Thanks again
So happy to see this here. Will flash as soon as I get home. Exactly what I've been looking for.
@VECTUS
Hey,
I'm from the SAOSP dev team. We know it's open source and all, but at least as a courtesy we'd expect you to ask permission before opening a thread that's built over our work.
I also see no mention of the original contributors ( except Banks, who is not even a part of the team anymore ). I don't want to sound rude but I never expected this from a mod.

question. does this build not have nfc support?
EDIT:
Flashlight function is messed up.
Flashlight apparently doesnt like to be turned off and when trying to turn it off lags the phone for a while.
NFC doesnt turn on.
Happened to me, dont know if it happened to anyone else but the screen's color inverted for a bit until i turned the screen off and back on.
Havent tested bluetooth fully but apparently when starting the phone up or rebooting and turning bluetooth on, a message box came up saying bluetooth share has stopped but hasnt said anything else about that after 2 or 3 times.
EDIT2:
Apparently some issues with cellphone service for Virgin Mobile. Data works fine though, dont know about 4g...
EDIT3:
So yea, some issues but does run quite smoothly.
Apparently i cant restore some apps onto the phone via titanium backup, though i was trying to restore virgin mobile specific stuff...
Any plan for UL build? Thanks JMZ!

This was the same issue I had. Calls and texting would not work at first. Went into settings/cellular networks/preferred network type and if I select 1x then 3g or global cell service starts working. Eventually it stops working and so fiddling with the preferred network setting mostly gets it to turn back on.
Also even underclocked it runs pretty hot and a few random restarts. Other than this it runs nicely.
Is there anything we can do to assist you @jmz ?

Camera
How about the camera in new build?
I am having issues mounting my /system volume. I've tried clicking on "mount" and making sure System is mounted.
Mount: failed to mount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system at /system: No such file or directory
unmount of /system failed: no such volume
I am using TWRP v2.8.7.1
Edit: There is no "by-name" folder located in msm_sdcc.1. I only see "by-num".
--Created a /by-name/system
The new error is: Mount: failed to mount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system at /system: Block device required
failed to open /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system at /system: Is a directory
Hoping for a zara ul build..........
Camera
camera does not work :crying:
Camera
I install last weekly build, camera more stable bot not yet for daily driver, i use Dirty for my lg optimus g and its awesome, but for this freaky phone i think never will be stable rom.
Somebody tried last weeklies build?
I suppose to install DU TPO gapps after installing the rom but which du tpo, the du tpo or the du tpo clear? Tia
Forget it, this rom is for cl, I have the ul.
Well, if you find a CL variant, get the latest version of gapps. The difference between the normal and clear versions is indicated in the very description itself, albeit a little unclear...
The "clear" version is just the same, but instead of a color theme for the Google apps, the backgrounds are clear so that you can see whatever is running right underneath. Purely cosmetic.
I am trying to flash the gapps provided by the du website both of the tbo clear and just tbo gapps, and even the banks dynamic version that's there. I am using flyhalfs twrp recovery and I always end in error when flashing the gapps no matter which one I use. It always ends saying error in update script - wrong cpu architecture...? The rom will flash fine but the gapps never do its always error wrong cpu architecture..... Anybody have a idea why that would be happening? Thanks in advance for any input.

I'm getting a FC from the theme chooser, what gives?
This is due to restoring data/apps from Google. Go ahead and clear data and cache for theme chooser and theme provider then reboot you should be good moving forward.
I changed my LCD density and now the navbar looks weird, what gives?
This is currently an issue that we are aware of and are addressing. For now, after you've changed the density -- reset navbar layout or stay on the stock density.

Seems to be running great on my SM-T330NU! Thank you!
The only thing I noticed is that the rear facing camera is extremely dark, so you can only see an image when pointing at a bright light source, and switching to the front facing camera causes the camera to crash. Not a big deal for me though.
Would anyone know how to get version 3 of twrp on the galaxy tab 4 sm t330nu?
Downloading it right now

It worked! Got it all set up and loving it.
Only complaint is the resolution making everything a little small and hard to read. Not sure if its adjustable somewhere and I haven't found it yet.
Otherwise an awesome Rom. Very hard to find good roms for this tablet.
