A firend of mine got a problem with his Lenovo, so we thought about reflashing it.
Unfortunattely we are not sure if it is CN or Row version.
The rom flashed on it is VIBEUI_V1.5_1423_9_P780_baralajbiV7
However reading the forum I'm not only not able to choose between CN and Row, but what are CN+ and Row+ versions?

Hi. Your firmware is based on Chinese firmware.
CN+ or ROW+ are modified layout firmware so you can flash latest kernel and latest TWRP.
Partitions are modified to be bigger. TWRP has grown from 6.1 mb to 12 mb and dont fitt in original recovery partition. Kernel its allmost the same thing.

For me is MIUI from USNKREAL.
Stable. Still developed. OTA updates.Patched with latest Android Security Patches.Easy to use. Rooted with original MIUI Root manager.Developed specialy for this phone Lenovo P780.

I love MIUI (however moved to Resurrection Remix, coz their LP build made me love it more) and, between Roms available here on XDA, would probably choose it. But It's not my choice. I'm here to repair NVRAM, but cannot do it on this build, so first need to reflash it, but as it;'s my first time with this device, I wasn't sure about this CN, Row, CN+ and Row+, and preferred to ask than looking for ways to unbrick it later.

I have ROW version of the phone.
I am using CN based firmware.
Only i have to change was the modem software!
Works like charm!
MIUI is updated with latest Android Security Patches.
Your phone is ROW but have installed CN based firmware.
Sooo... you can use any of CN or ROW firmware. Modem software makes the diference.
You can try to get the phone in META MODE by powering down the phone, then power on with the buttons POWER and VOL - pressed together.
If the message: YOU HAVE BEEN IN META MODE TOO LONG.... appears you can flash ahain your IMEI, ofcorce respecting that tutorial.

So if I flash CN modem on Row phone, all the problem will be no signal, and than flashing right modem will make it OK? It won't brick the device?
But how do You recognized that it's Row mode? It was bought form Aliexpress so as well he could bought CN model. It doesn't have LTE modem to make so big difference.

Flashing modem software for this kind of phone wil not brick your phone or signal.
In china phones dont use 800 mhz frequency. It is forbidden. So in hardware they dont have seccond chipset on modem, row phones have the seccond chipset for 800 mhz frequency.
Flashing cn modem software will not afect the phone, only the gsm signal received. In some area where your gsm provider antenna works on 800 mhz your phone will not have signal.
That is it.
Thought that there is more risk
But got confirmation that it's Row, as it had Google Play OOTB and CN ones don't have it.

Hi.
If you FLASH Row based firmware, over CN based firmware, nothing will happen. FLASH mean, using SP Flash Tool. The phone will start normal with Chinese software. After this you can use CN zip file firmware, like MIUI.
If you INSTALL Row zip file over CN based firmware, you will softbrick the phone.
This applies only to P780. Maybe there are phones that use the same technology, and i do not know the precise brand.

Hi. Your layout is CN.
Look if you have custom recovery TWRP Installed.
If you have TWRP installed you can go to this post and install latest MIUI MINOVO.

All firmware that contains VIBEUI is CN based.

I have read a lot of articles in 3 days on XDA for my P780.
And the most of them are of you Stympy, but I'm a bit of mess.
I Bought my device from China "Minideal", I asked it rooted but now with serch on it I saw that its not. I don't know wich recovery mode it has. But for sure its not TWRP.
My ROM version is VIBEROM_V1.0_1347_3_ST_P780 so I must serch for CN or ROW to install on it. The diference on that 2 is from what I read the frequency only or the languish too. CN has only Chinise and English? ROW is multilanguish? This moment I have multilanguish on phone because I use Greek.
The phone had 3 years the same ROM and has launched not working properly.:cyclops:
As I have said above I have read enough articles and I'm confused about the upgrade process. Others are older versions, other files there are no longer on posts. The process is not written so clear. HELP PLEASE...

Hi.
Your firmware currently installed is Chinese for sure. Its old allright! All stock firmware is old because Lenovo builders gived up on this nice phone.
So... first thing first...
You must upgrade your system first in order to install one custom firmware. I think is what you want.
To upgrade your system you must work with SP FLASH TOOL. SP Flash tool is not a program to play with if you dont know what are you doing. 99% of people who used this tool and did not know how to... corupted NVRAM and lost their IMEI.
So... lets begin.
A. Tool to be downloaded:
1. SP Flash Tool V.5 and v.3. This 2 tools are made for Lenovo P780.
2. Divers like zip file and exe file.
3. Firmware multilanguage for your phone. This firmware is CN Based but dont wory to mutch, is custom made and compiled for multilanguage and is working well. I used very long time.
4. TWRP custom recovery.
B. Drivers installation procedure.
1. First drivers instalation. This small tutorial is for installing drivers if you never installed on your device:
1.1 First install the .exe file. Reboot PC.
1.2. After reboot plug the phone (powered on) to the PC and new hardware wizard will appear. Install driver if windows will wants too.
1.3. Now power off the phone. And open the Device Manager.
1.4. Again plug the phone to the PC or laptop this time powered off.
1.5. At this time in Device Manager appeared for a second or two not in PORTS area something with.. MTK65xx...
1.6. Click very fast on it because that will dessapear very fast.
1.7. After you clicked on it all you have to do is update driver. Browse for the driver unzipped. Install.... yes yes... next next... blah blah.... Finnish. . And voila you have drivers installed and now all you have to do is to flash you ROM.
C. Flashing procedure:
1. now... turn off your phone
2. plug your USB cable in your computer
3. do not plug your USB cable in your phone
4. open Flash Tool and unzip the firmware. Remember the adress of your folder where you unzipped the firmware. Load scatter file from that folder.
5. check DA,DL WITH CHECKSUM (NOT OPTIONAL)for v.3 not for v.5. Version 5 is allready checked. Look at those 2 pictures attached.
6. press Firmware Upgrade button (NOT DOWNLOAD BUTTON). For version 5 select FIRMWARE UPGRADE. Look at those 2 pictures attached.
7. now... just now plug usb cable to your phone.
8. firmware flash should start.(some red and other color lines should appear)
9. iff the firmware is not starting remove the back case of your phone and hold pressed the little red button from the right side, for about 20 seconds then release. All this must be done with cable pluged in to your phone.
9. after flash is done a green circle or some ok should appear
10. disconect your phone and power on your phone
11. lenovo logo should appear. then you should be pacient because it will took some time before android boots for the first time.
12. Reboot at least once, then your phone is ready to work HARD.
D. Installing TWRP. This custom recovery is good for custom firmware and full system backup.
Power Off your phone.
1. After power off your phone open Flash Tool and browse for the scatter file your folder where are the recovery.img and scatter file.
2. Now comes the tricky part . Creeate a new folder on your Desktop. In that new folder copy TWRP recovery and scatter file from your firmware folder.
3. Now load the scatter file and mark DA DL with check sum in SP Flash Tool v3. In SP Flash Tool v 5 dont need. They are allready selected. Recovery.img should appear checked. If not, checkit.
4. Press Download NOT FIRMWARE UPGRADE.
5. Now, just now plug the cabble on your phone. Download should start and a green circle should appear.
6. After this you should have custom recovery TWRP installed.
7. Then boot directly to recovery your phone by pressing power with vol + and vol - butons together. Not Optional because TWRP will overitten by some files and stock recovery will appear.
8. After you entered in TWRP look arrownd to see what is there and after your curiosity is satified reboot to system.
E. After all this steps are done your firmware and your phone is ready to install custom firmware, i mean CN based custom firmware.
This is it. You have a custom firmware ready phone.
------ SAGA CONTINUES -----
F. There is some new form of layout for this phone appeared recently in order to prepare the phone for more bigger custom firmware like MIUI.
This new form called "+" layout is developed by Andreya108 and is made specialy for this P780.
You can see Andreya108 work here.
Based on his work i have creeated this firmware.
Remember this firmware is creeated to support newer firmware released by this magic developers.
You can find this firmware here.
To install this firmware you must follow all the steps except D point steps. Those firmware are prepared allready with TWRP.

Dear all,
This is my 1st post in XDA developers. And this is the first time I use Android system on a smart phone named Huawei Honor U8860. I learnt from websites and I know how to install ClockWorkMod. After installed stock rom from Huawei China (China site). I found out that I can't install any rom after that (always Update Failed). So I decided to format all the thing on my phone by using ClockWorkMod (/boot, /sdcard, etc...) and now my phone starts on blue screen and I realized that there is no image folder on the folder (the folder that you put recovery-v8.img file to setup ClockWorkMod). Now what do I have to do to bring back the recovery or someone please send me the image folder and guide me how to install rom for the phone since there is nothing left in my phone!

Download orginal GB 2.3.6 from international Huawei site.
Make dload folder on root in memory card and put the UPDATE.APP (some ROMs also have UPDATE_CUST.APP, don't leave it out) inside the folder
Start up phone with volume up/down pressed while pressing power button.

I tried, and it seems while installing the package, the update failed, what's wrong with my phone? I did not have any problem when I upgraded my firmware before the time I use the stock rom from China

This rom is the exactly rom that make my phone stuck in this situation, so do I have to install it back on my phone? Install the rom back to the one that harm me then apply this update?

no, you have to install the file that i posted first, than install the rom! the file is the fix provided by the huawei for the failure updating of the original roms! flash the file first, and than, flash the rom!
edit: if not work, try this other : https://rapidshare.com/#!download|309p5|4238175827|UPDATE.rar|0 , unpack rar, make a dload folder in the sd card, put here the update app, and flash like a stock rom, later, install the official one
Thank you Paul! Now I find the solution for this, at first, if you installed the 2.3 Chinese rom that post on Huawei China (the first 2.3 rom posted on 2012-03-08)
It will prevent you from install ANY OTHER roms, so if you want to install another rom, there is an update patch for this one (the one that paul89... has posted above).
After that you can freely install any official/stock rom on Huawei Devices.
And for the users that format everything(/boot, /sdcard, /system, etc...) and your phone show up as a blue screen instead of pink screen when u press the power button (yeah there is no image folder in recovery partition).
Download the 2.3 stock rom from Huawei China (above)
Get your SD card out of the phone, using the USB/SD card converter tool to plug it to ur PC as an USB, copy the rom (dload folder in the zip) to the card.
After that, plugin your SD card to your phone, then press Volume + - and Power and the phone will go straight into upgrade firmware.
Then use the Paul89 patch that I've shown above, copy the dload folder to your SD, remember to delete the old one, use storage upgrade function of your Android to apply the patch. And now ... you can freely jailbreak the prison of stock Huawei China rom

Maybe a bit late, but in my experience, using SUTLR to flash ROMs (official/custom) works the best. It overwrites & updates everything (i.e. if you have CWM, it will be overwritten) and you will have the phone just like you got it from the dealer.

You can use it for any ROM that comes in .nb0 format. Since most custom ROMs are in .zip format you can use it mostly for official ROMs. However, there are other custom ROMs (such as on andro-id.net) which come in the .nb0 format.

1. SUTL is quite simple to use. You can download it from the net (latest version is v1.8.2). Install it (works only with Windows) and you are ready to use the application.
2. To use SUTL to flash your ROM, boot your phone in download mode (i.e. where you have the message - Incoming Download Mode polling) when you boot.
3. Connect your phone via USB cable to your PC. The device will get recognized and Windows will attempt to open the folder (similar to when you insert a pen drive). You can close this window
4. Start SUTLR. Click on next and using the Browse button, navigate to the .nb0 file. The file must be named firmware.nb0. Click on next and the screen shows the progress of ROM installation. DO NOT DISCONNECT TILL COMPLETION
5. Once the ROM is installed, you need to remove the battery to come out of download mode. Restart the phone and the new ROM will start up.
Note: Please take backup of data and/or ROM (including recovery.img). SUTLR will replace everything (i.e. it will even unroot the phone if you flash an official ROM)

i have upgraded my phone to 4.03 official chinese rom by mistake .. i tried both files but same msg appeare update failed

Hi, I have also encounted this problem. All you have to do is to download this Update.app, place it in your sdcard/dload and update it. then you can start flashing into an older Android www(dot)huaweidevice(dot)com/cn/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDE5Nzg= Sorry I am new and cannot post hyperlink

Step by step guide to Flash stock rom:
1.If your phone is not already soft bricked, back up whatever you want. External SD card is fine. If your phone is soft-brick then say goodbye to your data and skip this step.
2. Uncompress all the files you downloaded from this thread into a directory where you can remember. Including the ROMs.
3.Shutdown your phone if its not in a bootloop. If it is skip this step.
4.Open "Device Manager" on your Windows PC.
5.Plug in your phone through the micro USB cable. A device will show up for a few seconds in "Device Manager". After that, it will disappear again!
6.Recognize the device tree where it appeared, and wait for it as you unplug and plug in your phone again (if bootloop, its automatic!)
7.Catch it with a right click as it appears! Then choose "Update Drivers" and pick the directory where you uncompressed the drivers you downloaded above. Its ok if after catching it the device disconnects. You only need to install the drivers now.
8.Assuming the drivers are correctly installed, run the Smart Phone Flash Tool.
9.Click on scatter-loading and choose the scatter file "MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" of the ROM you want to flash.
10.Make sure the checkbox "DL DA All With Check Sum" is CHECKED
11.Click on "Firmware->Upgrade" button.
12.Plug in your powered down phone via the USB cable again. See it flash.
13.When a big green circle appears on the screen, your are done!

Additional information about the Lenovo P780 (some information might be duplicate),
This device is usually shipped in 2 software flavors
(In addition to the hardware flash being 4GB or 8GB):
1. Chinese based version - These ones are Lenovo software ROMs sXXX, sXXX, sXXX (to fill out)
2. Worldwide / English / ROW based version - These ones are Lenovo software ROMs, s119, s123.
I Saw a couple of posts online that identifies the different version of the device by the appearance of the battery markings (Though i'm not sure that these posts are right 100% of the time)
The partitioning of the EMMC is different between the 2, and as such, Images from one of the flavors cannot be flashed (using the FlashTool) onto the other(the images are just data, the structure that is incompatible is the scatter file). - You would probably get an error from the SP flash tool since your scatter file differs from the map that actually reside on the EMMC (Nothing would be flashed).
Please note that these problems only apply when flashing an image onto the device, and not using a script / existing file system (Recovery and .zip files are using the on-device file system to update roms, that should work regardless of the scatter/base)
Rebasing:
If you'd like, there might be an option to repartition the EMMC in order to cross-flash versions.
Note that there might be 'radio' issues accross different areas for as these roms might not designed to run in your region.
Preload mode - Flashing with SPFlashTool:
On the p780 There is no need to press any volume to access preload mode (I.E. Mode that is required for flashing using SPFlashTool) just hit 'download' and connect the usb to the device while powered off.
MTK VCOM Meta mode:
If u screwed up your Prealoder, Meta mode can be accessed and you can flash with SPFlashTool
Accessing meta mode is using VOL Down+power until u see on the PC "MTK VCOM Meta" or something similar.
SPFlashTool:
Both version 5.something and 3.something seem to work for me.
Dumping your own rom:
One thing I'v noticed is that if you dump your entire image (For example with MTKTools)
The preloader paratition outputted WHEN READING, differs from the input paratition file THAT IS AVALABLE ON DOWNLOADED ROMS.
Seems that when writing with the spFlashtool, address 0x0 is in fact 0x800 (ie, in the file you dump from your device there are extra 2048 bytes before the preloader paratition). If u'd like to flush a ROM you dump, be sure to check for this. It is very noticable that a downloaded rom prelaoder.bin differs from a dumped preloader.bin in the first 2048 bytes.

I was trying to install XVIBE_ROM_v03 rom from the forum here and resulted in softbricking my lenovo P780 ROW 4 GB version.
After opening the flash tool and selecting the check box DA DL with checkbox and after clicking the Firmware->Upgrade button, i tried plugging in my cell (which is not powering on)
the flash tool doesnt proceed with a Blue and Green circles but simply doesnt do anything.
My cell is also not able to power on, is is serious, how can i revive my P780.
Please help me..!!:crying::crying:
Remove back cover, remove memory card. Near memory card slot there is red button just press it once. Now try to switch on.

Ok, I answered my own question. Flashed to ROW S123 using the PC tool and then updated OTA to S124. All working fine, baseband changed from S820 V51 to P780 V23 during the flash. Don;t see much difference between the two ROM's other than a new Video app and a few new options.

@ashoknraj, thanks for the deatailed instructions in first post, hardest part is installing the damn drivers and there are some steps which were different for me to get it working:
- Download the drivers and install on the PC using the exe tool in the package. Once installed, ensure USB debug mode is enabled on your P780 and that it is powered on and then connect to your PC using the USB cable. The drivers should pick up the P780 and install the device.
- Next, power off the P780 and then connect it again using the USB. The PC should again pick up the P780 again and you will see it briefly appear as an unknown device in the Device Manager. However, no need to right click and update drivers as you have already installed them previously so just let it search automatically for the best driver to use and it will finish installing. Once done, disconnect the P780.
- Run the flash tool and only connect your P780 after clicking the "Firmware->Upgrade" button. You will see a message in the status bar of the flash tool that says "searching" and then COM once the P780 has been found. If it stays on "searching" then it means the USB drivers haven't been installed properly and you need to redo.
- The whole process to flash takes about 7-8 minutes and a sqaure with a big green circle will appear on the Flash tool once done. Disconnect your P780 and power on as normal. The first boot takes about 5 minutes so don't panic, it will just show the usual Lenovo boot screen.
- Before rooting or doing anything else, go to System Settings -> All Settings -> About Phone -> System Update to update OTA from 123 to 124.

I just bought the Lenovo P780. I'm really happy with it so far. Just one issue, the bootloader is in Chinese. I'm not very good at reading Chinese. Does anybody know if there is a translation of the bootloader anywhere? I've been google diving for two days with no success. Even just a translation of the pinyin would be very helpful. A custom bootloader would be better. Thanks friends.

After a frustrating few hours, I've decided to give in and ask for help.... I've read just about every thread on this and other forums and just cannot get what I want.
The basics:
I have a new 4GB model, which appears to be chinese (chinese battery markings) and post the change to preloader - date on battery is 140418
Rather strangely, the ROM it came with was listed as 'P780_ROW_8G_S223_140901', even though the free storage, etc. showed that it was a 4GB model....
Following one of the excellent guides on here I managed to install TWRP and root it, even after the OTA update to S224 came through.
All fine, except that I found the UI a bit laggy coming from a Samsung S4 Active, so I thought I'd go to AOSP or similar.
This is where I have run into a brick wall. I've got SLXrom on there and it runs nicely, but I really wanted some KitKat goodness, and all the AOSP KK roms I can find (on Needrom, etc) require flashing over a Chinese base ROM.
I've spent several hours trying every combination of ROM and flashing method, and have completely failed to get a CN rom booting on my phone....
What I've tried already:
1. SP Flash Tools v3.1304.0.119 (Other version won't even try)
2. The linked 'stock' roms from another thread on here - P780_S135_130917_rooted_twrp_gapps and VIBEUI_V1.5_1419_5_DEV_P780_rooted_twrp_gapps
3. Changing the preloader.bin file for the later one for the newer phones
4. Flashing SLXROM_v26-Lenovo_P780-KIT(CN) from TWRP (says successful but never boots - blank screen only)
I know the drivers, etc. are installed correctly because I was able to flash TWRP via SPFT - but any of the above give me a 'BROM ERROR: S_FT_READBACK_FAIL(4009)' error.
I did have to use an altered scatter file to flash the recovery, but I tried the same modification with the ROMS and no success.
From what I understand, the main difference between CN and ROW roms is the partitioning, so I'm assuming that this is somehow at the bottom of the issue. What I can't find is the solution.
Couple of things I noted while trying:
1. Any flashing of a CN ROM would cause TWRP to not see the data partition - reflashing the Aroma partitioning app someone from here provided (thanks!) corrected that...
2. After flashing failed, Windows would give me a 'usb device failed' message on next plug in - pressing the reset button on the phone solved that.
3. None of the flashes destroyed TWRP, so I am guessing that they did not successfully flash even the recovery image. (not sure what order they are done in)
Can anyone give me any pointers to try now? Should I be able to flash a CN ROM from TWRP (English)?
Would getting a Chinese version of the recovery on there be a way forward? I did try that but again flashing failed.....
None of this would be an issue if there was a AOSP KK ROW build, but perhaps there will be one soon and I should just wait for that?
Any thoughts welcome - I've given up for the night because I was in danger of throwing the damn phone across the room!

Okay, I finally managed it, with a lot of research, cursing and luck!
In case anyone else runs into the same issue, here are the steps I took - I'll try to upload the files I used to this post later.
FIRSTLY: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP, PARTICULARLY OF YOUR IMEI AND NVRAM - MTKDroidTools is the best way to go, there are other threads on it.
It may not be necessary, but if it is, don't complain when you cat explodes and you spiral into a world of gloom and doom - BACKUP FIRST!
The key was finding a CN ROM that could be flashed using SP_Flash_tools on to a phone that has a ROW ROM on it. For my device at least (post April 2014 bootloader Chinese 'speed' version), none of the ones linked on here would work....
However, I found one on 4pda.ru that does work - The page is in Russian, but Google Translate does a reasonable job.
The page is here, but the direct link to the file is here The ROM in question is 'VIBEUI_V2.0_1437_7.14.1_ST_by_sadist_v1.zip'
I also downloaded SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1352.01 from the same post, which worked for me, though other versions may work....
Pre Requisite Steps:
1. Make sure drivers are installed properly for the preload bootloader
2. Did I mention making a backup?
3. Extract the ROM zip to a suitable location
3. If your phone is one of the Chinese models after April 2014 (The date is on the battery on mine in the form: 140414), then replace the preloader.bin file in the ROM download with the 2014 version from here
4. Choose a suitable ROM for your device that can be flashed through recovery - There are several on NeedROM, personally I went with the AOSP-4.4.2-fix-PYRO_LS from here. Place this ROM on your SDcard so it will be accessible from the recovery.
5. Turn your phone off (do not plug it in yet)
6. Run SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1352.01 from the extracted file.
7. Click 'Scatter-loading' and browse to the ROM folder then load the MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt file
8. Choose 'firmware upgrade' from the drop down list and make sure that all the files are ticked and the location field is filled in
9. Click 'Download'
10. Without turning your phone on, plug it into to your USB port.
11. The files should start downloading (First a red completion bar, then through various colours)
12. Wait until you get a green circle to show the download has worked. If you don't, then check the above steps again very carefully.
13. IMPORTANT - unplug the phone, then start it, while holding both up and down volume keys together. This will force it into TWRP. If you don't do this and let it boot into the ROM, then the original recovery will be reinstalled and you will have to start again.
14. You should get the 'Teamwin' logo, and then be in TWRP. It is the chinese version, but should be in English so no changes or translation needed.
15. Do a wipe (Not sure if this is essential but I did it) - The standard wipe is enough
16. Go to install and choose the zip you put on the SDcard earlier
17. The install should complete successfully. You may find it best to do another wipe (only minimum) here though I didn't.
18. Reboot and you should boot into Stock Android 4.4.2, with a few additions (Superuser is already installed - Lenovo Power Manager is added, etc.)
19. Choose your language and set up as you wish
20. Bask in the glory of a job well done.....
Troubleshooting:
If your phone does not flash correctly in step 11, don't worry. Make sure you have the correct files selected in Flash tools, and replace the 2014 preloader.bin if you forgot.
Press Download in SP Flash Tools again
Leave your phone plugged in, then take off the back and press the red reset button once. your phone will turn off, and then when it starts up it should immediately be detected and start flashing again.
If you never get the RED bar, then the drivers are not properly installed, so make sure that is done first. If you are on Windows 8, you will likely need to reboot into Advanced startup mode and disable Signature verification. There is a post on installing drivers that explains...
Hope that helps someone else avoid the hassle I went through. So far everything seems to be working fine and I have KitKat goodness without the Lenovo bloat. It definitely seems snappier and I can add the tweaks I want with Xposed.
If you like some of the Lenovo Apps, they do seem to mostly install and work fine on Stock Android, including the widgets. Props to lenovo for not needing their own launcher to work them!

My friend gave me this phone to update the rom, but I'm facing a problem. Device was rooted, recovery is installed, but some really old one - it doesn't even say what kind of recovery it is. So I read that I need to update to TWRP 2.8.4.0 rev.2. Tried flashing it with TWRP apk, but after choosing it and hitting install, it reboots and goes into old recovery and I can't install new TWRP. Then I tried installing it with this guide: http://rootoreviews.com/root-Lenovo-P780-install-twrp-custom-recovery , but I'm getting error: partition 'recovery' not support flash.
Lastly I tried with SP Flash Tools, but I can't install drivers. After holding red button 2 seconds and plugging cable there is no device unknown to install drivers or any kind of device looking like this phone.
Can anyone help ?

First Tutorial.
I see that you have installed allready one custom recovery.
1. Download TWRP from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/rooting-tutorial-kitkat-t2835605
2. After download putt the zip file to your root of your internal memory
3. Reboot to your current recovery and install twrp
4. After install power down your phone.
5. Start your phone again with all buttons pressed: Power + Volume up and Volume down.
6. Go to TWRP and do a full backup of your current firmware.
7. After full backup you can install any custom firmware you want.
8. I reccomend latest MIUI from AndreyZO, Mirror 9.
9. Good luck. If you have other questions write here.

5. When you install the drivers in windows 8,10 you must disable driver signing. Look on youtube.
6. Now you must flash new system.
7. Unpack stock Kitkat firmware.
8. Unpack TWRP.
9. Go to firmware folder and delete recovery.img and replace with TWRP
10. Flash the firmware.
11. After flash boot at least once. If by any chance your phone is Lenovo P780 speed edition, after this flash will not start. This means that you need the latest preloader. Download it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/lenovo-p780-chineese-speed-version-t2874161
12. After flash reboot in recovery by powering off the phone and start with all buttons pressed: Power + Volume up and Volume down.
13. Now you have last stock firmware with custom recovery installed. Go to TWRP and do a full backup of your current firmware.
14. After full backup you can install any custom firmware you want.

After you flash and install TWRP, you can install any custom firmware.

Sorry for delay, wasn't at home during weekend. Im flashing right now, but I had to use "Format all + download", cause only download showed error: "PMT changed for the ROM it must be download". Now I can flash the ROW version of custom rom or CN ?
Hmm I have still stock recovery not TWRP, although I replaced it with TWRP. File size matches perfectly...
Ok, worked but I flashed it with ROW version of recovery, making backup at the moment.
Got an error installing minovo_NOTE_6.12.1_ROW.zip, couldn't boot into recovery after so I decided to flash via SP Flash Tools one more time. After that booted into recovery and once more I have stock recovery xD I'm in serious WTF mode right now
Hmm I think I screwed something. After booting Kit Kat it says "Invalid imei" :/ I guess I will have to restore with MTK droid tools ? Can you guide me through that ?

Sorry for annoying you once again. When I try to flash anything in TWRP I get error "unable to mount /system". I read that it could mean that system partition might have incorrect file system. What is the standard one for p780?
It happens when I flash the stock KK with TWRP recovery, then I want to flash Superuser. I need superuser to use MTKdroidtools to restore IMEI.
My biggest problem is when I boot the Stock KK after flashing and power OFF, I can't boot to TWRP recovery. Instead it's booting stock recovery. Only way to to boot to TWRP or any custom recovery (tried CWM) is only after fresh flashing with SPflashtools, but I can't flash superuser. If I format /system I can install superuser (no error unable to mount /system), but I have no system to boot to use MTKdroidtools.
This phone is driving me crazy....

Ok i managed to restore everything, thanks for help. Can't flash custorm rom still but im making different thread.

Because the new firmware cannot be installed very well on normal layout i have made for you + layout firmware.
ROW + firmware is based on Stock S228 firmware.
CN + firmware is based on latest Baralajbi firmware, cleaned allmost all CN apps. For my opinion is the best CN firmware for our phone.
Both firmware are made with Andreya108 tools and have latest TWRP.
I appologize to 8 GB phone owners because i could not test the firmware on this kind phone, because i do not have one . Please send us some feedback. Thanks.
The firmware for 4 GB phones is tested. Working well.

Update 05.03.2017.
For the phones who don't have TWRP installed after flash do this:
1. Flash the firmware.
2. Start the phone and boot at least once.
3. After boot power off the phone.
4. After powering off the phone flash ONLY the custom recovery TWRP.
5. That is it. The custom recovery TWRP should be working fine.
6. Good luck.

What? This cannot be.... I replace myself the files and recovery. The recovery must be TWRP 3.0.2-7.
The files are replaced like in Andreya108 tutorial...
Scatter file is + layout. Strange...
Look on recovery.img... Please tell me how many mb they have? If they have 6 mb is stock recovery. If they have 10 mb is custom recovery TWRP.
First i install row+ version and when try to entertwrp recovery, phone enter in normal recovery (try 2 times), but on cn is twrp, my bad, sry. Very good job, phone work very good. Can I install andreya script for participate internal memory for 8gb versions? Can u edit settings apk and framework (its only 2 files) to remove syncit application, i hate that reminders (backup contacts, backup sms,....) it cannot be turn off?. When uninstall syncit, aplication icon is still in setiings-accounts option, cant remove. on andreyas row + final version they remove syncit from settings.

I'll look in ROW version to see what is going on and why TWRP is not there.
As for the Syncit, i will try to remove it.
it happen to me too, on row twrp3027 not working.
the trick is use twrp3021 first then later update to 3027

Edited ROW+ firmware. Now it will come with TWRP 3.0.2-1. After install just update the TWRP. Works this way.
CN+ remains with TWRP 3.0.2-7.

Try to flash this one. Tell me if works!
Unzip and flash only this recovery. Use scatter file from your + firmware.
If this will work update your TWRP with the last one and that is it.
You can only install 3.0.2- 1 and 7 in row+ version only .
using flash player you can install

Nope.... You are wrong to this one. You can install TWRP 2.8.7.3, because this is for ROW+ too.
On my first + layout i have worked with this one.
Now its ok, 1st. flash firmware, 2nd. slash only twrp recovery 3.0.2-7 and everything is ok. I dont know why, but after flash firmware there is no recovery, u must flash only recovery image after flash rom and everything is ok.

Hi guys, I need some help, I can't see my display screen as in the attachment. Booting and touch is ok. But it freezes at the lock screen. Is it a system error or hardware. ? Can I try flashing it.? I'm at a blind spot on this one. Appreciate your helps.

Hi,
I just have P780 in hand. It is still on stock ROM (ROW). I have successfully installed TWRP 2.7 then rooted it. I would like to install ROW+ layout on it.
1. If I install this ROM, would it also changed the partition to ROW+?
2. Or, do I have to follow andreya108's tutorial to change to ROW+ first?
