Review of the Amfilm Full edge to edge screen protector - Samsung Galaxy S7 Accessories

Ok so I got this today (surprised because it just mailed yesterday)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01CDVZAH6/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So as far as fitment goes, it fits perfect. It allows for the Spigen thin fit case to go on just fine. It covers all the areas of the screen. I am however not a fan that the camera does not have a cutout.
Secondly I am most definitely not a fan of the dot matrix on the display. It doesn't detract from the screen when on but it definitely is noticeable when off.
Third, touch sensitivity is definitely inhibited in the bottom right corner of the protector (hitting return or smilies). Also, it's hard to bring up Samsung Pay easy pay feature as well.
Fourth, when typing there is a slight sound of the protector hitting the screen (I don't think there is adhesive on the screen part and only on the black areas).
I really had high hopes for this protector but overall I'm a bit meh with it. I want just glassglass, clear no dot matrix and adheres. I might try a regular just part of the flat glass.
EDIT
After running the protector now for a couple of days I can honestly say I am going to get rid of this and based on other reviews out right now, go with a plastic protector.
I went out yesterday and it was a nice sunny day. I pulled my phone out and immediately saw the dot matrix display even with the phone on (and it actually made it a little more difficult to see things).
EDIT 4/4/16
I got the new updated version of the protector. They have done some things to try and improve it and it is marginally better than before but the deractors are still there.
Touch issues still present in the bottom right and along bottom edge of the screen, dot matrix still there (albeit a lot less pronounced than before). It definitely is thinner than before (but still thick enough to notice when touching the home key.
All that aside, it is definitely one that I can deal with for a while until something else comes along

The search for something that fits continues!

Just got mine.. Got it installed & then immediately ripped the piece of **** right back off.. I can echo all the same negatives & then add that it is thick enough that it was difficult to get the fingerprint scanner to work. The adhesive is a sticker that is indeed placed just around the black parts. Also of note is that this DOES NOT contour to the screen. It is just blackened where you would otherwise see the halo effect.

Bummer. I had high hopes here. Guess I'm glad I never got a reply when I emailed them as per their instructions.

lol I never saw that deal till afterwards. I paid full price for mine.. I have requested a return on this thing. So not worth the money. the ones that dont give full coverage would be better.

Since I didn't pay for it, I'm going to leave it on until I can find a partial coverage one that works.

Just received mine too. Similar thoughts.
What I like:
- The ports and cutouts line up very well with the device.
- Screen is very smooth and feels much like the actual screen itself
- Did not degrade touch sensitivity for me. Sounds like this might be hit or miss, but for me I didn't notice any difference, I specifically tested corners and borders. ** After more use, I have noticed degraded touch sensitivity along the corners and lower portion of the screen
- Fairly thick, I prefer this but this is subjective
What wasn't so great:
- Dot pattern can be seen and is very noticeable. Not nearly as noticeable when the screen is on however.
- Adhesive only on the edges and bezel areas. Again, for mine it does not make any noises when I tap the screen but I also would prefer a screen protector that adheres to the entire screen.
- ** Decreased touch sensitivity
Overall assessment: A few minor issues but I'll definitely be keeping it on. For those who use the fingerprint reader, it may not be the best choice it makes just enough of a thickness difference to make the home button actuation feel different. I like the thickness however, and it actually matches the Samsung clear case very well.

Updated my review with thoughts on outside usage. This is not that great when trying to view your phone in sunlight.

Let me know. I received one of the first "freebie" ones....ended up taking it off, as I couldn't deal with the dot matrix combined with the missed taps I was experiencing. Never got anything else about a new version, so I guess you're a lucky 2 time guinea-pig

Glad to hear it's better than it was. I've since moved to the S7 Edge. Unfortunately, seems nobody has been able to make a competent Tempered screen protector for that device lol.

[Q] Decreased screen response with official Malata Case

Hello all,
I purchased an M1 Official Malata Case for my Gtab. I ordered it from it2steve, received it yesterday and it looks and fits great.
One problem...
It now seems that my screen is less responsive. I specifically notice it around the corners and around the right edge (same edge as home keys). Its becoming a problem with ADW as it is difficult to hit the onscreen button to open the program launcher and difficult to hit the Home button located at the top taskbar.
When I take the tablet out of the case there does not seem to be a problem. I have tried recalibrating using the took by gojimi and it does not seem to make a difference. I also have a Skinomi screen protector on, which I do feel had reduced the response already slightly, but it is now much worse with the case. I am also running Vegan 5.11.
Let me know what you think.
Maybe,Magnet will affect the capacitive touch screen.
I have noticed that the right hand side of my screen is a bit less sensitive than the left, but I had not associated that with the use of the case. (I have an m1 case as well). I also remember this being mentioned in another forum by a frequent contributor here.. (the lack of sensitivity, not its associated with the case).
It is a bit annoying to have to hit a button twice (and sometimes messes me up in angry birds) but it is not that severe in my case.
Dan
I too have chimed in on a couple of these posts adn I origionally thought it was the case as well, as it just seemed to be in the upper right hand corner. However I still have that issue and noticed last week (when I actually started typing more) that I was having an issue with anothe spot, right around my 'A' key.
I know that this has nothing to do with magnets or the edges of the case as now I'm playing around in the CLIP. I use Gojimi's calibration app but I'm personally leaning more to 'it doesn't like to wake up properly' as it seems to go away when I reboot?
I am pretty sure this is because of the case (to be precise, it is the part that wrap around and infront of the tablet)case.
I have an apad case and had the same problem. My tab has no problem outside of the case.
To solve the problem, I had to cut out the leather part that wrap around the tab and use a piece of velcro to keep the tab inside the case. I had no prolem now.
I am with you steve, that A key gets messed up.. and it does appear to be software, because it appears (my subjective opinion) that you can improve the sensitivity by doing simple things like hiding and exposing the keyboard. It also seems to be different depending on what you are doing.. for example, you would think that if it were a dead spot on the touchscreen, it would interfere with typing when you held it vertically, but it does not seem to.
BTW, is the clip case any good? I am debating whether to buy a dock from you
Dan
Maybe its just me but since i've received my M1... which i love. My touch screen seems too sensitive... i'm click stuff when its suppose to be scrolling... I'm going to say its not the case... Because my is doing the exact opposite.
on a side note when i originally got my gtab sensitivity was awful... i switched to the gingerbread rom and it seemed to fix itself.
All the more reason for making the switch once it pops into Beta!
I have one of the M1 cases and the Skinomi screen protector and just did some tests with and without the case. I can not discern any difference at all when the case is on.
The main problem is that your fingertip is less compatible than your finger pad due to calluses, etc... With the case on you cannot get a clean shot at the extreme most corners. You can only hit it with your fingertip. This will vary by person. A construction worker will have a harder time than a surgeon. When you take it out of the case, you are hitting the area square with your whole pad.
Is anybody else still experiencing this with the M1 case? I'm trying to decide between the M1, P3 and the Clip and decreased screen response would be a huge deal breaker for me.

Yea, I did but not sure I totally follow what you're saying. Why would a person use only fingertips with a case as opposed to their whole finger pad without one?

The case is not flush against the device. On the edges where it covers the screen there is an ever-so-slight upward curve (just the nature of dealing with this material). So, when you try to press the edge of the screen where it meets the edge of the case your finger is partially blocked by the case. That means that sometimes only the tip of your finger makes contact and sometimes that is not enough to trigger the action you desire. So, I think people were experiencing this occasional malfunction and blaming it on the case. The case is sort-of to blame, but it does not reduce screen sensitivity.
Do that make more sense?

Maybe I'll opt for the Clip since it doesn't seem to cover any of the screen.

I am looking to do the same, eventually. However, even if I didn't buy the M1, I still can't justify $50 for a case. That is almost the price of 2 M1's.
Yea, the price is making me think twice about it.

Damnit, Scratch!

Long story short - get a screen guard.
3 days and definitely babying it I noticed a super-small (1-2mm), less than hairline width scratch in the top right corner. The area is usually dark within the area of the status bar and menu bars for applications but when those have been hidden the slight distortion is evident. Though, even on a white background (ie. web browsing) at 100% brightness its barely noticable.
But its still annoying as %&@^!
I decided to put on the Verizon screen guards as those were the first ones available locally. They're not bad for a bargain grab $12 for 3 - full screen protector with proper cutouts. They also feel and look very similiar to the Seidio branded one I used on my original DInc. It'll probably pick up scratches faster, but its better than the screen getting a new nick in a more irritating location.
I always put on a screen protector just for that reason. I got a Zagg on the same day I got the phone. You might have to look around for them but they are there.
how comparable is the screen compared to the incredible 2? i can find cheap zagg-like covers on ebay but wasnt sure if they would match up.
I bought the Verizon screen protectors on the day I bought it as well and I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the protector. I've seen Verizon screen protectors that make ridiculous screen noise and make it impossible to swipe your finger across the screen, but I am very pleased with these protectors. Unfortunately my case hasn't come yet, so I am still on high alert...

I used the inc2 for a while without scratch, very cautious not to put in same pocket as key and whatnot, I wasn't going to use a screen protector as I never do, but I talked my dad into trading two old icraps so he could get the inc4g adn become and Android lover.
he made me put one on, I'm sure I'll be thanking him later lol.
the quality actually is surprising decent, the cutouts are nice, and can't even tell it's there, (and this is coming form someone who does not like using them)
only gripe is, idk if its the phone sensor or the protector as i never had the phone without the screen protector on,
I noticed when on a call and going to grab the pull down notification down the sensor turn off the screen, it's actually quite annoying.
the inc2 there was like just one sensor u could know were it was and put ur finger in front of, but on this phone it seems the entire top is the sensor lol

I think that might be a Sense launcher setting, not sure if it can be changed. I've already switched to Apex as a launcher and it seems to let me swipe "anywhere" on the homescreen to bring down the notifications.

I've had this problem on many phones. I always put the screen protector as far up on the screen as I can without making it look funky. But the edge of that protector kinda screws with the touch sensor and makes the pulldown act weird at times.

I also just realized that the sensor is now on the right side, it was on the left on inc2, helps a bit, but still funky with pull down.

That's the nice thing about Zagg Invisible shield. It has cutouts for the sensor and the camera so it doesn't block but still covers the rest of the screen up to the top.

[REVIEW] TechMatte Edge to Edge TGSP

Overall does what it's supposed to do, but some annoyances with it! I wouldn't spend money on it at this present state.
DOES NOT work with most cases
Weird grid (dot matrix) on the screen.
Adhesive isn't very strong, very little pressure lifts it up.
Isn't "round" on edges
If you have any specific questions let me know, I'll post specific pictures if you'd like; but here's a few showing the annoyances
I'll upload images here

It's been overcast & gloomy, so I didn't notice it until today when the sun was out; only can see it at a certain angle; definitely wouldn't recommend this protector in this form.
I've owned TechMatte screen protectors on pretty much every device I've owned over the last 2 years and have yet to be disappointed until this protector.
I got this as part of the free promo on here. I've noticed some good and bad
PROs:
1) Does cover entire screen
2) No halo effect
3) Cutouts do fit correctly to FFC, sensor, earpiece and buttons
4) Comes with all the proper install materials
5) Fit fine with my case.
CONs:
1) Odd dot-matrix effect. Not sure if this has something to do with the fact that the screen doesn't seem to "attach" like most tempered glass protectors.
2) Fingerprint resistance is not as good as typical TechMatte items I've bought.
3) Cover for the home button does seem to cause a bit of disturbance with EASE of fingerprint sensor use. It still works, but it does seem to "miss" more
4) Biggest and most disappointingly: It interferes with the swipe down for notifications. I find I have to use WAY more pressure to pull down the notification section. Also am noticing an alarming number of "missed" letters when I am typing now.
It looks great and applies well, but I would have to agree with the OP that I wouldn't buy this in it's current state.
Worst thing for me is that I had to pitch the screen protector I had on it that while it wasn't edge to edge, it was responsive and didn't inhibit anything. Now I have to pay another $9 to get another one shipped to me, as I can't deal with retyping everything I input 3 times to correct for missed key strokes.
Take a look at this one. I just ordered it cuz someone posted this on one of the forums. It looks pretty decent.

PSA: Don't get the 3D tempered glass screen protector from OnePlus

the official oneplus 5 screen protector is about 2mm too small and doesn't fix the phone all the way around. It's supposed to be "3D" so it would hug the screen all the way around, but ends up pushing up on all sides because of the shape of it causing bubbles. I've attached several pictures showing that the application of it is perfectly centered in the pictures of the home and ear speakers. there's also a black border all around the screen protector on all the non-screen parts which ens up actually cutting off a few pixels around the entire screen..... you can see it completely cuts off a '0' in the recorder app, and the app drawer's scroll bar is almost completely cut off as well....
I've contacted OnePlus support and they declined my rma claim stating the below:

Thanks for the heads-up man! I was about to order it.
I installed mine yesterday. I also have the black parts cutting off the pixels on the sides..
I ordered a Nillkin today, hoping it will fit better.
Totally agree. Watched this video by @niijonodhg , saw it in his thread and it turned me off it totally! £18 for that crap? Bit disgraceful tbh. Purchased this Orzly one instead. Had it for my op3, and another video by the same guy said it was better then last year and he preferred it then the 3d glass one!
This was already known about and was shown in the video below...
It showed similar problems to their previous ones, namely when you're on the bootloader screen the protector cuts off some of the text because it's protruding onto the actual display area. He also showed the same problem as you @Nomelas, whereby the edges were not adhering properly.
I've got the Orzly protector (none of the cases I've ordered have arrived yet sadly) and it seems great (it does show fingerprints a little and there's a tiny bit of rainbowing), it's 2.5D rather than 3D, it also has a black border on it but it doesn't protrude onto the screen like the official one it also seems to be the favoured protector on the forums at the moment, here's a review of that one.
@niijonodhg (aka Absolutely Savage on YouTube) made these and is apparently doing a series of reviews, all very helpful
Here's the obligatory Orzly official application and test video:
They also show how well it works with a couple of the official cases.
I bought the original tgsp from OP.
I would not recommend that one.
Hard to apply without air on the sides/corners.(No dust)
And covers way too much of the screen!
Still trying to get my money back. As it is way too much for such a bad design.
If I keep the phone I will try to find a good replacement.
I honesly not sure why they are still selling them. Like most people in this thread already say. Orzly's TGSP does a much better job.
I have used same protector on OP3T and already installed to OP5 also.
Cutting couple pixels is said on product information. Im assuming you all readed it before ordering so you should know that. Also i dont have any bubbles, nice and clean installation without any issues so bubbles are user installation fault.
Comparing this to Orzly:
OP:
+ Adhesive on full screen part: its harder to install but really clear visiblity on screen, no gap between tgsp and screen and no oil slicks.
+ Really great oleophotic coating
+- Cutting off less than mm from both sides of screen. Its told on Oneplus website whem ordering (product information). Its so small that it dont bother me almost at all.
Orzly:
+ Dont cut as much as OP's own.
- Glue/adhesive only on edges which will cause small gap between screen and tgsp=not so clear visiblity as it would be if adhesive would been full screen. Also big possiblity for oil slicks. Also possiblity to pull of easier.
- Bad oleophotic coating

I got it in the bundle with the case, ear buds and 150mm extra dash cable (but no extra adapter....) and while it was basically free, I'm still pissed at the false advertising.... why would they sell a defective product? its a clear rip off. They probably made them all and by then it was too late so now they're trying to get rid of them, greasy imo.....
If it wasn't for this one (major) flaw, I'd say it would have been an amazing screen protector. I'll probably still use it until it scratches or breaks then get that orzly one.
EDIT: also, I'm pretty positive that disclaimer was NOT there when I ordered my phone on the 20th:
Disclaimer
To ensure the curved screen protector offers optimal protection while maintaining the sleek look of the OnePlus 5, the colored border extends over the edges of the display by approximately 0.9 mm.

yeah I guess I lack the Doctor Strange ability to bend reality... my bad.
On another note, it's funny how a 3rd party can make a better fitting screen protector. I'll definitely be getting the Orzly.
And for the price, you'd think OnePlus would put a bit more R&D into it, like using a ruler.

you can even see in this video that he has the EXACT same bubbles on the right side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HGNn5lhCy8
Also, the disclaimer is a cop out for the design flaw fyi.

I have seen all of videos but still dont see anything which would show about defective product. Maybe your piece was. Mine is just perfect without any bubbles.
It isnt design flaw, it was meaned to be like that because you wouldnt get full adhesive without it. It they would leave that area clear it would been look ugly because of halo and people would start cry. They choosed to not use "glue on sides" method as they even know that method is bad and screen wouldnt be as clear as without protector or with full adhesive screen protectors.

translation: design FLAW - who would willingly want something that limits the use of any parts of their screen? think about it for a second.

Well if i would need to choose between these:
1. Full adhesive: Drawback it will cut off your screen about 0,3mm per side but you have really clear view of your screen and no gap.
2. Side glues: No screen cut off, but gap between screen snd tgsp and because of that not that clear view either.
I would definetely choose option 1. They didnt have options if they wanted full adhesive.
Cut-off is so small that it wont even bother me and many other user as almost all apps has gapps on side before real content shows. Ofcourse i would like without cut-off but it dont bother me and i still prefer OP's official because of full adhesive and best oleophotic coating i have seen.
BTW, Orzly for OP3/3T had cut-off too. It was only like 0.1mm from both sides but it still was cut-off. And im almost sure they still have it, especially when OP5 is littlebit smaller than 3T was.

It's more like 0.9mm on EACH side which is very significant actually if you consider 401 ppi on the screen meaning you get almost 30 pixels cut off from each line from left to right. Factor in the height of 1920 pixels you lose 57,600 total pixels on your phone. Now, take into account there's a total of 2,073,600 pixels on the screen, you actually lose close to 3% of your total screen behind unnecessary screen protector bezels.
Hell, I'd gladly take 0.1mm over 0.9mm
Fought with oneplus and they now approved my claim for a replacement. Seems they at least acknowledge the issue but I doubt a replacement will solve anything. We'll see when I get it I guess.

good for you. I am in the process of fighting with them too because after my flawless installation, there began to accumulate dust under where the proximity sensor is. They told me its my fault because there was dust underneath before i installed it. wtf.
i have never dealt with such inept customer "support" I tweeted, chatted, emailed and called them today and supposedly a supervisor is reviewing my claim.
I have not taken it off yet, because despite its flaws, it adheres to (almost) the whole screen, and while i have orzly waiting, i cant stand the rainbow oil slick due to the lack of complete adhesive.

That also is happening to me. I'm going to hold onto the replacement and I bought the orzly to try out. We'll see which is better. Either way I'll have one extra of each after replacing this one.

Screen Protectors

Anyone recommend a screen protector which actually has the pin hole at top and cover full screen.
As the ones about i see, don't even cover all the screen, leaving gaps at both top and bottom
Well, I found one absolutely perfect on amazon after reading numerous reviews on numerous screen protectors.
You get 3 in a pack, comes with usual wipes and also some glue for the edges, which really is not required at all.
Not a bubble anywhere, simply wiped with wet wipe and then dry, lined up camera dead centre and gently placed it,the screen did the rest and see the air bubble disappear, few more light presses to make sure and its bang on.
I am ocd and can say this tempered glass screen protector is absolutely spot on, covers all screen and hole for camera.
I also for first time ever did fingerprint on lock screen, didn't back up neither as i ain't letting samsung have my private info.
Took approx a minute to setup so you get full print, and on every single test approx 30 test now, it unlocked straightaway, soon as i touched screen.

UPDATE:- the glue or liquid that comes with it, i decided to use also, as it got the better of me haha.
The edges there are a slight gap and I mean tiny, so have this liquid a go.
I poured it into a cap and used the little brush that comes in kit.
I did bottom first to test, brushed it on edge and it filled that gap.
Wipe with wet wipe and dry and pressed on glass to make sure it made contact and filled which it did.
I proceeded to do this on other 3 sides.
Dont worry about any going on the glass itself.
Simply use small sponge and soapy water to wipe of and then dry.
The glass can not be seen at all now, I forget I have one on, it is that good.

well on amazon it is CAD$500 tax included, pixel 4a is CAD$541 after tax, aside from the better camera processing on pixel which i personally dont care much, i dont see a reason why should i go for pixel instead of this amazing mid tier phone!
I really dig the large screen on here
Still love my A71
Really surprised that this phone is not more popular! The camera is good for being a mid-range phone and price is definitely fair.
Anyways I am using https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0852YB79R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It's extremely clear, doesn't attract fingerprints, and comes with a fitment frame to make it really easy to get it applied perfectly.
Fingerprint sensor works perfectly as well.
