I always run with my phone on my arm, since Im using Sports-Tracker with the bluetooth heart rate monitor and bluetooth headset. Dont know what I will do if there are no way to carry the phone during workout...

IMO, phones your arm looks ridiculous. Its cumbersome, backward to look at if need to. I've seen some people at my gym with a Note 2 and 3 and it looked like it kept falling down and getting in the way during a dudes work out. I would say a Note 2 or 3 arm band will fit this G3.
I myself use a fanney pack. Its called Nathan 5k Runners waist pack. It fits my Note 3 with case. Its slim, no bulge, doesn't shift and hidden. I use a heart rate monitor and LG Bluetooth head set. No problems

I've seen a guy at my gym with a galaxy mega on his arm. Massive looking. Couldn't imagine having that on my arm while working out.
I use a mw600 and leave my phone in my bag.
Longest week ever waiting for this watch lol. But anyone heard anything on when we can buy the different watch band options? I plan to buy the slim version of the black strap but do kind of life the look of the wide version too. I looked on samsung.com and it doesn't even have a page for the watch anymore. Anyone heard anything?

are the wide straps the "bangle" ones? those are not as long as the narrow strap (men vs women?) but i like the looks of the wider band. most of the first look pics seemed to be with the wider band.
i need a band that is a 1/4 inch longer to fit how i like it. that or i am going to have to lose weight

I am having some problems with my Huawei Watch, so I am thinking of exchanging it for a Moto 360 2nd gen. So I thought it would be good to hear from you, what made you choose the 360 over the Huawei watch when you picked yours up?
For me, I went first with the Huawei mostly because of the full circle. But after all the problems people (including me) are having with the screen, maybe the flat tyre is a small price to pay.
I'd like to hear your opinion on this. Why the moto 360?

I have both. Since bestbuy didn't have them on display, I ordered a Huawei from Amazon and grabbed a moto from best buy locally. I've had the moto since Sunday and just received the Huawei today. I have the original moto too.
Some quick initial thoughts :
I have the black versions with black link bands for both. Even though they are the same height on paper, the moto looks and feels like it's thinner due to the case design. The lugs on the moto allow it to sit flatter on my arm. And I have the 46mm moto for reference. Also with the glass being above the bezel the moto is easier to swipe, IMO.
Screen is noticeably larger on the moto. But doesn't feel too big. I never considered the original big either but this one does look and feel more proportional; that is the band and body seem to match up better. The side button on the moto is less squishy and feels better.
I immediately noticed the Huawei's red screen issue during boot up in a dark room and on other black screens. Aside from that, the screen is great. More crisp given the higher dpi.
The light sensor on the moto is great. Down in my man cave watching tv in the dark the moto works wonders. The Huawei, even on 3, is still stupidly bright in a dark room especially if there is a white notification card or your watch face is white.
The low res pixelated ambient screen on the moto is my only significant complaint so far. Some faces look horrid. Sky master for example, looks great on the Huawei, but on the moto the tick marks are very messy in low res. I really hope a future update can address that or at least make it an option to change.
So far, I've been less impressed with the Huawei that I thought I would be. All the reviews made it sound like a killer watch but so far im leaning toward keeping the moto.

Let me ask you something since you have them both: I know that the HW has greater ppi, but did you notice that it's got a pentile matrix like AMOLED phones (the subpixel matrix is not a grid)? Therefore every pixel is missing a subpixel. I don't know how sensitive you are for this, but for me it's very annoying. So even though the 360 has a theoretically lower res screen, it may look better because of the subpixel arrangement (in LCD displays usually the matrix is a grid, and every pixel has indeed 3 subpixels, there is no sharing subpixels).
Any thoughts on that?

This has been exactly the impressions I have had - even though I have never seen either of these 'in the flesh'. From all the reviews and videos, it seems clear that the Moto 360 sits much more neatly on the wrist even though most people seem to say the Huawei is marginally thinner (on specs, not visual perception). I have been wrestling with which one to get, but I'm slowly getting to 75%+ in favour of the Moto 360 42mm (small wrists here).
These have been my thoughts on the pros and cons of each - just my perceptions of what I've seen and read online, obviously I may be totally wrong about some of these!
Moto 360 Pros:
- Wireless charging, any Qi charger will work
- Apparent Size
- Leather strap seems to have more holes for different sized wrists
- Ambient light sensor
- Mic placement and sensitivity
- Price
- Stock faces seem nicer, more customisable
- Standard straps (20mm or 22mm)
- Vibration stronger?
- Angled lugs
- No obstructions to finger swiping (screen flush with bezel)
Moto Cons:
- The so called 'flat tire' (doesn't really bother me)
- LCD screen (not sure if this is a pro or con - seems better for bright sunlight?)
- Edge bevel on the glass? (Annoys some people, some think it adds to the look)

Huawei Pros:
- AMOLED screen
- Full circle screen

Huawei Cons:

- Straight lugs, rather than angled to fit around the wrist - makes them appear to 'wing' over small wrists

no, the pentile doesnt bother me and honestly its never been something ive been bothered by. i can see it in blownup screen shots and if i stick my eye super close to a device but in normal use, i cant tell. the sharpness (not counting the ambient low-res junk on the moto) is in favor of the huawei, though only slightly so. in normal usage at arms length its a non-issue. and i would bet if you had the smaller 42mm moto, you would be hard pressed to notice any difference.
to re-touch on the awesomeness of moto's light sensor, last night the huawei was bothering the wife while we watched TV because it was too damn bright whenever it lit up due to notification or arm movement. i ended up just putting it in theater mode all night.

Could you comment on the mic sensitivity for each of these watches. How close you have to hold them to your mouth, how reliably they pick you up etc? How do they compare to using 'OK Google' on a phone? For example, my Note 4 seems to pick me up and understand exactly what I say almost without fail. Thanks.
I don't own the Huawei but I did own a first gen Moto that got broken a few weeks ago. I was deciding on a replacement and finally got the second gen Moto in Black 46mm. Why? Firstly the Huawei is a lot more expensive. It doesn't have inductive charging and I don't like the shape. The Moto is the only truly round smartwatch out there. The LG and the Huawei are strangely shaped watches with round displays. The 8 bit ambient mode on the Moto serioulsy annoyed me at first and showed my favourite watch face as a blurry blocky mess. So I made my own and I think it's quite nice. It shows just enough information and is sufficiently discreet. I don't watch my watch glowing like a light house during meetings. Here's some pics. Sorry about the crappy quality of my phone camera.

just tested some, and the moto is WAY more sensitive to picking up "ok google". with both sitting on the desk in front of me, the moto registered every time when talking at a normal level. i almost had to yell at the huawei. same experience on my arm. the moto picked me up way better. had to talk louder to the huawei. i can see the mic hole on the moto on the left side. not sure where it is on the huawei, i dont see any visible mic holes

Thanks SO much Brian - you're really helping me make my mind up! The speech recognition is pretty important for me, so it looks like I'll definitely be going for the Moto 360 42mm. You mention the mic placement on the Moto - I had noticed this too. It is placed on the left side which, for most people, will mean it is pointing directly at their mouth. However, as far as I'm aware, the Huawei mic is on the back of the watch under the top lug. Strange placement, if that's true. This, the ambient light sensor, and the weak vibration on the Huawei seal the deal for me.
Thanks for the comparison photo too - I think it's the sloped bezel on the Moto that makes it look thinner, even though it is supposedly the same thickness.
EDIT: Always interested in any other insights you have about these two - and, of course, which you ultimately go for.

ah yes, theres the mic, actually mics. looks to be 2 holes. the location aims them away from you, no wonder it has a harder time picking me up.
other thoughts, i posted this in another thread, but the moto has a stronger vibrator. hehe. :silly: if you wear your watch loose, i could see the huawei being more difficult to notice. both sound about the same though

Love that watchface. Would you be able to share a link for that one? My 2nd Gen is being delivered tomorrow to replace my 1st Gen one. I assume you have other downloaded watchfaces for Faceer/Watchmaker for the 1st Gen. How do those ones look on the 2nd Gen since the screen is slightly higher resolution?

I don't really notice much difference in the quality of my watch faces (I use WatchMaker the most) in bright mode. In dim mode all of the third party watch faces I use in dim mode are unfortunately horrible with the colours being terribly distorted. Hopefully this will be sorted out with a future update. In the meantime I adapt my favourite faces to show a decent 8 bit dim mode.

From my perspective (I am using the Huawei watch for about 5 days now) I don't mind the weaker mic (actually I prefer that the watch just listens to me when I am deliberately talking to it) and the vibration on my HW is strong enough for me (I don't have anything to compare to and this is my first smartwatch, but it's very noticeable IMO, so it's fine for me).
As for the other points raised, I do think that the ambient mode is to bright. I use the simplest stock watch face (I think it's called Elegant) in which the only diference between the ambient mode and the full active watch face is the seconds hand and the date. Some times I have the impression that the ambient mode is brighter than the full watch face when the brightness is set to one... But, on the other hand, the watch face I use looks really good on always on.
And, as some users have reported, I find the accelerometer not very sensitive and, on top of that, the waking up time is kinda slow. So, if you are planing to leave ambient mode off, this is annoying. You have to really raise your wrist up high and then wait a second for the display to come to life. Bothersome...
Now, about that red tint issue, it's horrible on mine. It's really, really red. It glows like crazy for something that's supposed to be pure black. But realistically speaking, I don't see Huawei doing anything about it. It's to subtle to bother (or to be noticed for that matter) most people. And despite being really bad on mine, if someone could guarantee me that this is not going to cause any problems in the future, I could overlook it easily.
I am still struggling to decide if I am gonna ask for a replacement or a refund and go for the 360. I don't know if I can handle that flat tyre...

As an owner of the new Moto 360, I totally agree with all of you, especially the case design of the HW and the vibration made my decision clear. I am happy with the 360 except the ambient mode screen.
On a side note, very nice watch face! did you made, is it possible to share it?

I only made the 8 bit ambient mode part of the face. The original face I found on FaceRepo I believe. The concensus on the usual forums is that it is Ok to modify and distribute other people's work as long as you explicitly state who did the original work. In my case the beautiful watch face work was done by John Feaster. He and he alone deserves the credit for this beautiful watch face. I just adapted it to suit the new Moto.
I currently have the Huawei watch. Yes it is beautiful and really a nice watch. And of course no flat tire. But one thing that bothers me is its almost too good looking. Its like you would wear it with a suit and not casual wear. The Moto 360 2 seems much more casual looking. I paid $400 for the Huawei I can get the Moto 3360 2 with the cognac leather for $300. Am I nuts here should I just keep the Huawei or go for the moto? The other thing is the silver on the hauawei is so shinny it just glares silver. Where it looks like the Moto silver is much more toned down.
That's one of the reasons why I skipped the Huawei Watch. I don't like that shiny look of the lugs. As much as I want to keep an OLED display (former LG G Watch R user) as much I want an ambient light sensor back. The QI charging cradle is also a lot more convenient than this pogo pin crap. I also like that the Moto 360 has no raised bezel around the screen. It's just much more convenient for swiping
Oh yeah that was the other thing. The charging thing for the Huawei really sucks. I did have a Moto 360 gen 1 and I really liked how the wireless charging cradle also acted as a clock at night. Plus I have a charging pad at work so I could always charge at work if need be. I know the screen on the Huawei is much better then the 360 2nd gen, and I really hate that flat tire, but the over all package on the Moto 360 I like better.

Been a week with my Moto 360 2nd and haven't looked back!
Idk if 42mm watches didn't look ridiculously small on my wrist I would've went with the Huawei. It's a little dressy but I would be comfortable wearing it to the gym or on a run with a silicone band. It's just too tiny.

I just received my first ever "Smart Watch". The Fossil Q Founder. I purchased the leather band version. I am not really a watch person but I prefer a leather band over metal in general. I was actually due for a new watch as well being I lost my Seiko about two months ago. Other than my Q Founder the only other watch I have is my Rolex that belonged to my Grandfather. It is far to nice to wear daily though.
So, being I was in the market for a watch, I figured I may as well get a smart watch for the added functionality. It took me a while to make up my mind. It came down to the Huawei Watch and the Fossil Q Founder. The main reason I ended up going with the Q is the specs. I figured it may be a better investment with the Intel processor and 1GB of ram. I guess I was thinking it is " more future proof". I honestly preferred the design of the Q over the Huawei personally as well. The $275 price tag was just an added bonus. If only the Q had the Huawei display....
Aesthetics:
The overall build quality is very good in my opinion. The stainless steel case looks great, polished in some areas and flat in others. The finish is well executed. The leather band looks very nice as well. It appears to be made of high quality leather and the stitching should hold up for a long time. The charger even looks nice. It mimics the soft pillows found in watch boxes. The charging "disc" is slightly magnitized and lights up red while charging / blue when charged.
Performance:
The Q is very snappy. The Intel atom processor paired with 1GB of ram was clearly a good choice on Fossils part. I have yet to experience any lag. The display at 240ppi looks great. The Whites are truely White and the colors look really nice as well. I was wondering about the 240ppi. Obviously if you have the watch 4 inches from your face you can kinda see the pixels, but at a distance > 12 inches it appears very sharp. The 400mah battery should hold up well in the Q. It hasn't lasted me all day yet, but I have "Always on Display" turned on and being I have only had the Q for two days, I have been messing with it nonstop. lol. So I will update more on battery life later when it has a few more charge cycles and I am using it more normally.
Connectivity: The Q has Bluetooth 4.1 LE and WiFi. I believe the WiFi adapter in the Q only supports 2.4ghz, being it did not recognize my 5ghz network. I could be wrong though. I currently have the WiFi off because I am not sure why it is really needed. I just use it via Bluetooth with my Nexus 6. I have had zero issues with connectivity though. Once I had it paired with my Nexus 6, that was it. It always stays connected and connects instantly when powered on. I have yet to experience any type of connection issue.
Overall I feel the Q is an awesome smart watch and it is well worth the $275 for the leather or the $295 for the steel. This is all I have for now but I will update more later.

PS: I VERY carefully opened up the Q. I really wanted to know which Intel atom it is actually running. I couldn't find out though being the chip is covered with a metal shield. All I could see on the board was a Hynix chip, the vibration motor. It is actually very easy to get inside though. There are 4 tiny screws on the back side of the watch. Once removed, the circular housing slides right out of the watch housing. (The part with the lugs / where the band attaches) I will say that the battery is truely 400mah. The WH and V is printed on the battery. I did the math and it is exactly 400mah. Not 399, not 401, 400.
UPDATE:
I read an early article on the Q Founder from Android Police that stated it did have a speaker. This proved to be false. This was one of the deciding factors on my purchase of the Fossil. I was at Best Buy a couple weeks ago and was able to try on the Huawei Watch. I really liked it, and much more than my Fossil. It just seemed to fit me much better being it is not nearly as "huge" and I really liked the higher resolution AMOLED display with no "flat tire". I ended up ordering one from BH Photo being it was on sale for $300, no sales tax, and free overnight shipping. This is pretty much the same price I paid for the Fossil after tax, which I returned for a refund.
I did like the Fossil Q Founder, I really did. I just liked the Huawei Watch even more. Having owned both, I have no regrets going to the Huawei. If someone were to ask me today which to get, I would have to say the Huawei due to the display, speaker and battery life.
I got the metal band one, and the charger is the same as the leather band one, it's kind of a pain, you can't just lay it on there, but I got a Moto 360 charger, and it works perfect. I still need to try the 5GHz network.
From a traditional watch owner's perspective I really like the Founder. Its size and fit are similar to my traditional Fossil watches and I found the price to be reasonable considering the watch's specs.
What kind of battery life are you getting and if this is not your first Android Wear watch how does it compare? My first full day with the watch was about 14 hours before it powered off. I'm already looking at ways to extend my battery.
I've seen some people claiming the Moto360 charger works with the Founder and others that say it doesn't. The chargers are Qi (same as Fossil), cheep, and widely available on Amazon and Ebay so if anyone has tried it out I would love to know.

i got the leather version for Christmas and i'm pretty happy with this watch.
My batterie life is good enough for one day. After a 16h day there is round about 20% left.
I charge my watch with the fossil charger but it should work with every QI-charger.
I tried it out with the original QI-station of my LGG4 and it work.
I limited my notifications, adjusted my brightness to 1, and installed Wear Battery Stats. I am seeing a full day and then some now.
One oddity, I use the Fossil digital face and the temperature is off constantly. I can't seem to find any settings for refresh or location. Anyone else see this problem?

Anyone with the Q Founder have AIDA64 installed?
Go to 'System Files' and tap 'Build Properties' to view the build.prop.
Look for ro.board.platform .. This should help identify which Intel CPU is in the watch.

I am seeing the same thing with that watch face. But the Fossil app watch settings shows it correctly.

I noticed when Fossil published the Fossil Q app update a week or two ago the temperature is now accurate for me. I'm now getting full days out of the battery with anywhere from 20% to 50% battery left depending on usage and length of my day. I am happy with my purchase.

Yeah, I noticed the temperature issues as well and it is annoying as hell. I live in europe, so I want to see celsius degrees and the digital watch face
is either completely off or shows fahrenheit. On the classic watch face the scale is USELESS. If you set the temperature to celsius the scale goes from +40 to -20.
An information in digital is here way better. An analog scale looks good - i give you that - but if you want a quick information, you are looking in the wrong place.
And it goes on: The classic watch face changes often by itself from celsius to fahrenheit and when you want to change it back in the settings you have to do it
several times or juggle around with the other indicators. I contacted fossil via twitter and email and got ZERO answer to my feedback and my wish for a obviously needed
software update.
I like the looks of the watch, it does its job. The battery life is worse than on the huawei, the g watch r and the moto 360 2nd but the most annoying issues are the ones emntioned above.

My temperature was good for quite a while after Fossil updated the Fossil Q app but it is now stuck again.
I would like to see an option for the classic watch face to show the weather digital. I would also like to see options to show more info in ambient mode (like temp).
Regarding the battery life, it is decent but I am hoping that an Android Wear update is released with optimizations for the Intel chip set.
I will forward this thread to Fossil. Hopefully this will speed up the process.

With any luck they will read it but I'm not going to hold my breath. It would be great to see one of their software engineers get on XDA to discuss features and improvements.
They answered right away that they will forward this thread to their android development division. I hope that a software update will change some of the points discussed here to the better. It would be quite brash to throw a product on the market with quite a number of teething troubles and just leaving it at that.

I have noted that each time my weather temperature gets stuck my battery also drains rapidly. I believe there is a bug there needed to be squashed.
My observation is that the battery runs a lot longer after I turned the watch off for some time. I don't do this normally but I noticed it right away. Maybe there is some overflow issue
Amazon app on fossil q
Had mine since Christmas, anybody have a problem with amazon app? Mine always says needs update, then it says updating but nothing ever happens. I contacted fossil but they say to contact amazon and they haven't had much advice. Tried the usual uninstall and reinstall on phone, restart everything yada yada yada. If no fix, anyone know how I can just remove app from with and not phone?
