How can I remove the 3 dot menu in every app in motion rom....I tried using apktool but it gave me bootloop.
So plz help me port that ...It is the last feature required to make s3 neo official(stock) lollipop rom baased on touchwiz like s4

Go to /System/build.prop with root explorer and edit it Search in the text file for :"qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" and delete it. Then just save the file and reboot

Yes that's the right way. You have to modify keylayout. Idk which number is for left HW key but you should be abke replace recent app to menu key and 3-dot menu will be hidden

I just finished cooking a ROM, but when I touch the messaging app shortcut it says the App isnt installed. Meanwhile if I go and open it up from applications menu it opens up without a problem.
I would like the rom to install without this problem. I think it could be that the shortcut is pointing somewhere else and not to the actual application location.
Any advice on this?

I mean in a Rom developing way. I know I can remake the shortcut and it will work.
I need to know if theres a way to edit the shortcuts targets inside the android config files.

if permanently den open .apk and rind maniefist. (or sumthing ) den goto 'label' tag change apk name of installing. if u wanna change link search like 'proccess.mms.xxx' replace all like 'process.phone.xxx'
Hey, I am having a different problem but still apk problem, I am Modding the stock keyboard ics apk, I just unzipped it changed the icons and then rezipped into a apk but it won't install the apk, during installation it says app not installed. Can anyone help me, thanks

i want to ask if any body tried already to remove menus from settings like i want to hide the about phone on stock settings.apk deodexed on jb 4.2 i want to get rid of some menus in my settings i ported dakele os to mtk6589 so i would like to ask if how to? since it is a ported rom some of the menus are not a feature of my stock rom and i want to hide or remove them just to prevent boot loop for example like this in the attachment below i want to get rid of the ad block or sensor_cali .. ..

uppdate: ive done some experement in settings_header.xml i tried to change the name of about phone to phone only and it works so my conclusion is settings_headers changes the appearance of the settings menu
I have not used ICS or JB much but it's possible.
I know exact process of how to do that on GB but not ICS. You'll have to decompile Settings.apk and look for the xml which controls the layout of app.

yes i think its the settings.header yet everytime i change something in that xml,recompile success, and push my mooded settings but the problem is it wont open systemUI stops everytime i try to open settings from the noti. bar and there's no icon for settings in the drawer ive check the permission its rw-r-r and its correct . ive also tried drag and drop signing still the same problem

Which tool are you using to compile apps? And System apps don't need to be signed. Maybe that's the problem.
If you want, you can check out Ultimate Guide in Android Development Section which shows how to correctly compile system apps. Its sticky(noun, not an adjective ) there

editing the xmls dose not change anything any suggestions but using apk multi tool works it didnt cause any systemui fc and the settings is properly installed but as i said as i edit xml it didnt change anything in the setting menus

since im using multi tool i dont know if that resource.asrc is original from my original apk for example i already compiled my modded settings.apk shud i keep the resource.asrc or shud i get the resource.asrc from the original and unmodded settings.apk?

ive read alot of tuts on how to add apps on settings menu yes it is possible since it is possible to add then maybe it is possible to delete ive tried to reverse the tuts on adding to delete the menus specially on the settings_header.xml and strings tried to edit those xmls after editing recompile i directly push it to my phone i tried to push unsigned and signed apks yet i get same results nothing change i got a feeling that resource.asrc has something to do with this

If you've read my guide, you would know that you'll have to add resources.arsc from new app to old app and then push old app to your phone

tnx im reading this but as i check my log something is weird in the res forlder of settings.apk since this is a ported rom there are some folders that multi tool cant read

its very easy..
1. download xplore.apk using link below

2. Open xplorer Locate ur apk..
3. long press on ur app and tap on open as zip
4. Replace or add png or any data using copy paste
5 . Then long press on opened apk and tap on zip back to apk

i can decompile it and recompiled it signed properly and i pushed SecSettings.apk to system and by setting permissions. all successfully done
problem is there is no settings apk
and when i clicked settings icon in statusbar it hangs and after few seconds it tells unfortunetly systemui had stooped
so i want to edit settings apk please help me in any way

but every time provide full info then phone owners can help you
if you have stock rom then extract the secsetting app from it
if you have stock rom then extract secsetting app from it
Root your phone using supersu
Then install ex file explorer or any root explorer
Then open the directory /device/system/priv-app and you will find setting apk usually named secsetting.apk, bellow it you will find another file name secsetting.odex
Since the setting app is odexed(apk lacking classes.dex) like most of the system apps you need to deodex it first
You can do this with apk tool or using smali or oat2dex converter (the guides of all of them is present in xda developers)
Then finally you can take the deodexed app and do what ever you want on it

Disable signature verification by lucky pather and use this ui but make sure you have backup of your old (original ui) in your sdcard best of luck

Your device must have to be rooted .... first open root explorer and push system ui to system/app/ ... and set the permissions to rw-r-r.... next reboot....!

This might be due to force closure of SystemUI in your device, this happens most probably when your rom is odexed . In order to fix it , delete SystemUI.odex from your /system/app folder and then reboot
