Galaxy Theme (on S7/EDGE) Trial Marker - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys!
I searched for this topic and couldn't find it, but I also apologize as I might just be incapable of locating it if there already is one...
I've installed some themes lately from this forum, but they all display as Trial themes ONLY on my system - I don't seem to be able to apply them permanently... am I missing something?

To post a theme, or app, on XDA, a free version for members must be posted as well. So if you encounter trials that expire, or free versions of anything that are basically useless, please report them and moderators will handle it. :good:
Edit: If you mean completely free themes show up on your device as trials, all free themes, then disregard the above. That's another story.

[ROM] ShadowRom v0.2.0

since the mods have decided to remove our links to our neutral centralized blog, we have decided to no longer support XDA as a medium for spreading out our Rom. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused any of you users
Well, here it is kiddos! The second final public release of ShadowRom! Hope you enjoy this as much as we do!
What is ShadowROM?-
it is a rom based off of CyanogenMod Source code. this rom combines the best parts of Insanely Clean v1.3, pl3x v3.0.0, and CM6. you will notice that this ROM has a whole different feel from Cyanogen. we simply wanted to provide the best parts of CM like the On the fly theming, init scripts, a solid base and organized Source Code mangement. we wanted to make this rom the best it can be and this is only the start. this is a small taste of what is to come. I hope everyone enjoys this ROM as much as my self and billy have enjoyed making if for you.
Why is this stock theme?-
we wanted to create the freshest cleanest base for themers. when working of a stock base there are many advantages.. such as-no work to work off of, easy to see issues when your theme is simular, etc. i know all of you might not like stock themes but when themers have it easier to make themes for everyone, that makes it better and faster.
Why are we posting this on our site?-
Because we want to expand to many forums not just droid-forums. thats a lot of threads. we dont want to have to update each one constantly. so if we keep this post updated then we wont have to keep every thread up to date without problems.

Please understand that giving a link to another website has no interest... you want feedback for your rom and i understand that, but do what all dev does : share your work here and not a link to go to another forum...

The rom seems to be very fast, I would give it a try if a keyboard was included

Just for the record. The moderators have removed 50% of the information that has been centrally placed on a neutral blog site. We set things up a certain way so we can post to multiple forums and sites without cross linking the users.
Our blog does NOT require registration, nor does it allow comments. Support will be given in the thread from the forum the user was linked from (aka, here...)
Rest assured I will no longer be posting to XDA because of this idiocracy.
I like your ROM and all, but wouldn't the idiocracy come from the person who can't follow a simple rule then points the finger at the community here because we're asking you to post by the rules?
Your not going to get pulled over by a cop for speeding and say "your an idiot, I was simply trying to get to my destination faster" are you?
Why not host your ROM, post the link, and share with the XDA community just like every other developer does? I think we'd all appreciate it.
I'm sure you're Rom is a good one but you know leeching is an offense on any forum. I can understand XDA's position especially when you are linking things like pics of screenshots and themes to droidforums. Rules are rules

We never linked to DroidForums. Thats the whole reason we made our blog site. To stop cross linking between competing sites...

http://www.shadowrom.com/shadowrom/froyo/final/v0.2.0/passion-gapps-v0.2.0.zip
When I booted into the Rom, I noticed it said v0.0.1. I assume it is because I didn't get options to move any of the default apps. Can you please upload the right version for the Nexus One, thanks.
Be nice if the rom had a keyboard. Little useless without a default one.
Boo, that's lame, lol. Oh well, sticking with Geo's ROM I guess.
Edit - attached the Froyo Keyboard, since it seems Jlevy isn't the only one with the problem. Just flash it via recovery.
Edit 2 - Seemed to not work, lol. I may have another one somewhere, I'll try to locate and test before upload
Ok, lol. Confirmed, this keyboard works. Just flash it via recovery!!
We haved fixed the keyboard, and the version number output in v0.2.1
Just google us up to find our site for downloads, or just use Rom Manager
* Fixed ModVersion output in About Settings page to read correct version (lots of paranoid complaints about this)
* Fixed updater-script output during the installation to read correct version (lots of paranoid complaints about this)
While I understand you're doing this for free, you seriously need an attitude check with how you treat people who are supporting you. People are concerned, and you just flick it back in their face, calling them paranoid? Wow, you aren't even a douche, that title isn't deserving on you.
Hats off for getting a fix out for all those other PARANOID people complaining about a KEYBOARDLESS ROM. Thumbs up to you Captain

Not to offend you mate, but can you please sum up all your app shares in a single thread and update the same when you add new ones?
I know sharing is good thing but it all makes a mess in this section.
Everytime making a thread for each app is not going to help either. You can even request a sticky thread from mods if your thread becomes popular. That helps everyone including me and you as I wouldn't have to look at all threads everytime I have to use/check some app. Looking in single thread is lot easier.
A Hero Can Be Anyone

[Q] Genymotion [Ubuntu; Unfortunately app has stopped]

Hello,
First let me start off by saying: I was directed here by several "tech" friends of mine concerning this issue, and directly to this sub-forum when I asked where I should post the question. So if I have erred and this question/thread does not belong in this sub-forum, I apologize. There are so many forums and sub-forums it is a bit confusing.
Secondly:
Is it possible to customize the installed Android version? Like themes, icons etc? I know you can change the wallpaper but what can a user change? Is there someplace I can go to read about it?
Thirdly and lastly:
edit
Nevermind, I have solved my "third" issue. Should I include what I did for references to others? Is that allowed?
If any other information is required, I will happily provide it!
Thank you for looking, and for any and all help.

How to get rid of Playstore requirement for some apps?

Some of us do not install G**gle apps (incl Play). We use instead F-Droid and APKPure.
But some apps insist that they require Play... it's not a technical requirement, just one they throw in there, but it's a real problem as I am not going to install Play just for that.
Does anyone know of a Play 'placeholder' or 'simulator' which will satisfy this specious requirement? Or has anyone decompiled an app to remove this requirement?
Recommendations?

This is not related specifically to Havoc.
Shouldn't you make a thread in another place?

Apparently you haven't actually tried this. There is very little depth of knowledge about things Android, in general. We are fortunate here to have a competent dev and some competent users. This is rare.
It is unusual to not be at all dependent on G**gle, and I am happy to help with what I know about freeing yourself completely. But there are some catches, and the question I'm asking is the last one for me.
I can probably figure it out for myself, but when forced to do that I am not as inclined to share if sharing (or even trying) is not part of the ethos..
So can we can, or can we can't? :cyclops:

Try MicroG. Your purpose will be solved without installing any GAPPS.

Always share helpful info.
I believe the response the person made was a legit argument basically being made to help direct you to find a better place with much higher odds of getting an answer (looks like you got it tho).
But that doesn't mean you can't ask or can't share. It's all up to you. Sharing knowledge is the foundation this forum has thrived in. Personally I hope nothing defers anyone to question that regardless of any responses made or not made.
And yes, this is an excellent dev. But he's here to help primarily with his area of expertise, which according to the thread title is with Havoc issues. He can't be relied upon to answer non ROM questions (yet he probably would if he knew).
@Quantumstate,
I had to move your question and the corresponding answers to a specific thread (your thread now) to "Android Development and Hacking Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" because the thread where you posted initially was not the best place to ask.
I have named the thread "How to get rid of Playstore requirement for some apps?" because I had to fill a subject (is mandatory) but feel free to edit the title yourself if it's not OK for you.
Also, I suggest you to read THIS THREAD by @Oswald Boelcke, you could eventually find some clues there. If not maybe Oswald Boelcke or any other members (developers or not) here should be able to help you in this new Q&A thread
Thanks for understanding

@Quantumstate I just realised that @Wood Man pinged me and pointed you to my thread. Feel free to ask me in my thread or certainly here whatever you want to know. But I assume you first have a lot of reading ahead.
Additionally to my thread, I'd like to drag your attention to some more XDA threads in this context. In these threads are also links to Github/Gitlab including excellent tutorials. If you want you'll be able to leave Google services or requirements in many although not all cases behind; however, it also depends of the ROM(s) you use. This means if you commence a discussion please also provide insight into details of your device, system and configuration.

Last remark: On none of our devices, any Google service or application is installed. But all of our application run fine without and by the use of µG instead. The very few application, from which I expect push notifications, do receive them on time via GCM/FCM.
The one and only Google application, which I've installed, is the Google Play Store modified by Setalphia, the developer of above linked NanoDroid. It allows me easy access and updates of my applications purchased on Google PS respectively to conduct in-app purchases that I mainly do in order to support a good development and developer unless the developer offers different means of donation.
I knew we could count on you Oswald :highfive:

APK extracted cannot run properly

Hi Everyone,
Am new here, nice to meet you.
I got a weird / silly question that dont have any clue everywhere.
I downloaded a game (with Unity 3d engine) from Play, extracted it to APK, removed the game and reinstalled using that APK. The game loaded up at the beginning but then froze.
I tried different APK extractors, my device was rooted, the game size in the app setting was 400MB when it was running good the first time, but reduced to 140MB after installed with the 90MB APK.
I suspect something was missing in the APK extraction but just cannot figure out what was causing that.
I can find the same app in a APK website and the 4XXMB XAPK downloaded from there worked without issue. Hence I believe it was sth about the reduced size.
Appreciate if anyone could shed some light. Once I can get rid of that, I will start my modding practice soon as I have already knew some approaches and practical steps.
Thanks
When modding you need to have the data for the app you installed prior also and the modded data has to be put in the same name file etc before opening modded apk
Don't really think you know what you are doing since it's been this was since android 5

Hi toolhas4degrees, tks for your reply. My problem is I can't even get the exported apk working properly just by installing it right after exported, despite of modding anything...The game does start but then hung after passing the google game play service. The game data is also apparently smaller than the actual one installed from Play directly.
I googled a lot but could not see similar cases reported, would that be some sort of "protection" implemented by Unity to restrict the app being extracted completely?

You have to pull the data from the stock install to your sd then mod then replace the data back into the phone.......

@jame507
Welcome to XDA. I hope you'll always get the support you require.
However, prior to your next posting please read the guidances that are stuck on top of every forum like
Note: Questions go in Q&A Forum
If you are posting a Question Thread post it in the Q&A forum. Technical discussion of Android development and hacking. No noobs, please. Device-specific releases should go under the appropriate device forum...
forum.xda-developers.com
and the others. I've moved the thread to Android Q&A as it didn't qualify for development.
Thanks for your cooperation.
