[KERNEL]Kernel with full support for XBox 360 / One controllers[v1.3] - Shield Android TV Android Development

Because of the annoying constantly blinking LEDs of the wireless Xbox 360 controller I decided to compile an updated kernel myself.
I was Inspired by this post.
This kernel is 100% Nvidia source. The only difference is the backported xpad driver.
It is intended for use with Nvidia Shield Marshmallow firmware including zulu99's StockRestyle and full Android Marshmallow firmwares.
I have only tested it with the Pro model. It has been reported that it works with the 16GB model also.
Xbox One controllers are working also but only wired.
You can test the kernel by booting the new kernel with fastboot boot boot_xpad.img before flashing it.
If you are using systemless SuperSU (v2.56+) keep in mind that you will lose root when you flash or boot a new kernel.
Installation:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot_xpad.img
Afterwards you can install SuperSU again by booting into recovery and installing the SuperSU.zip.

No, but pretty sure the XBOX ONE controller does not work. THough the 360 does.

Anyone confirm if this works on 16GB model?
I just got my 16GB shield TV and would like to use my 360 wireless controllers.

hello i have the 500GB Pro Model and the 1.1 Kernel is working great....my wireless 360 controller and a wired one are working perfect....only wished there were force feedback support in Android....i know some emus can enable rumble effect......
Thank you for sharing.....any other improvements you want to implement to the Kernel?

Any chance to have something similar with dualshoch ? Would be awsome.

The Dualshock 3/4 work just fine via USB, and if you're rooted you can try sideloading the Sixaxis app to pair via USB. It doesn't advertise as being compatible with Android TV though.
I'd try it myself, but I don't particularly want to root this device, as I've already had it replaced under warranty :S

works very well on StockRestyle, thanks!

1) Has anyone tried the kernel on 16 GB version yet?
2) Is the real stock kernel from 500 GB version 100% identical to the 16 GB kernel?
3) I've read somewhere that the stock kernel didn't change with 3.1, is this true?

I got no feedback yet if it works with the 16GB model also. I've extracted both kernels from the factory image and they look almost identical.
The firmware 3.0.0 kernel is definitely NOT identical with the firmware 3.1.0 kernel.
At the moment I'm compiling the kernel with the updated xpad driver and will upload it when it's finished.

Okay, thank you. I'll wait at least for the 3.1 version, but I don't know how great the risk is to boot or even install the kernel if it's not intended for the 16 GB version.

Do I need the xbox 360 pc dongle to get my 360 gamepad working with the Shield TV, or this Kernel. I had thought the 360 gamepad controller was bluetooth but it seems it is not. I have Zulu99 full 6.0 installed.

Yes, you need the dongle. You can pair multiple controllers with the dongle.

Is there any way to get the wireless Xbox 360 D-Pad to work on zulu99's full version of android marshmallow?

[Q] OTG Cable Compatability - Rookie Q.

Hello! I was redirected here from XDA Assist Forum for the following.
The device i am using is a Kindle Fire HDX 7 32GB running Thor-Gapps-13.3.2.4-v1 ROM.
I've been searching for an answer on how to get an OTG cable to work for my Kindle to play roms. I tried a much older method http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1652800 but with no result. If there is or isn't a method please let me know :highfive: Thank you for taking a look :fingers-crossed:
Huh?
USB OTG isn't enabled on this device. I believe it is at the kernel level and since we don't yet have a released bootloader unlock, all ROMs have to use the stock Fire OS kernel.

Thank you for letting me know
Still the case? Any idea from anyone of the developers if its ever going to be a possibility? I'm about to buy another one due to its perfect physical size for my mod need and I need OTG for an FM Radio.

RK292x + RT3188 based miracast HDMI stick firmware

I just bought this HDMI DLNA / Miracast receiver stick. The model seems to be a "Ugoos UG017" aka "Chromecast MD321" aka "MOCREO iPush M1" aka "HI762 HI763 (Chromecast)" aka "CX-V3" aka "PTV-2R" and possible more names. The hardware is:
- Rockchip RK2928-G @~1GHz
- 256MB DDR3
- 16 MB NAND
- RT3188 WLAN-Chip
- Push-switch to toggle DLNA / Miracast mode
There seems to be a UART available on some test points on the PCB. Any ideas on how to connect to that (settings)?
DLNA through BubbleUPnP is more or less working (skipping seems to lock the stick, playing playlists too), but Miracast is not, at least not on my Xperia L with CyanogenMod 11 / FXP 333.I tried the firmware for the "Pipo X5" and "MOCREO iPush M1" (both ~14MB) and both worked. Both state version "3.0.0-rc2". I would be thrilled if someone could link to a newer (and hopefully more bug-free) version than that...
EDIT: If found a link to a much better firmware (v5.0.0-rc2) for the CX-V3 here. DLNA is much better. Miracast still does not work, but I suppose that's just FXP 333...

What Android version do you have on your TAB S? Is it a 8.4 or 10.5 version?

Thank you so much, lucize! It worked! I was able to miracast with my Galaxy S5 using the built in screen mirroring function. My android version is 4.4.4.
I got a Tronsmart CX-V3 dongle and I was wondering how to update it, since Tronsmart has -of course- no updates. So tried to find some more clones who could have an update and maybe even the manufacturer.
The latest I managed to find is version 9.0.0, dated 21-4-2015, by Ergotech. Their MD3054 and MD3056 seem to be the same according to the doc file in MD3054's update (8.0.0 rc1) (*1), so I downloaded MD3056's (*2) and flashed it. Sunchip-Tech strongly advices to update the software(*3), so i didn't have any hesitations.
A PDF included in 3056's update as well in the *3 link, indicates that there is OTA update option via the manufacturer (Sunchip-Tech). This means that maybe all Miracast sticks of this manufacturer can be updated directly by Sunchip-Tech. Keep in mind that the menu language will be switched to Chinese after the update, but it can be very easily switched back to English in the settings menu.
Ergotech's download page can be found in link *4.
While searching, I noticed than some RK2928 based Miracast dongles were called Lollipop (not because of Android). I searched a bit more and found Rockchip's user guide for RK2928 wireless HDMI dongles(*5), which calls RK2928 dongles as Lollipop. Seems that the reference Rockchip design is followed by the manufacturers. In that user guide I noticed the settings screen is same as my dongle's, but the main screen picture is different though same to some other RK2928/Lollipop dongles I had seen while searching. So probably there is an other manufacturer who kept the original main screen and maybe has even newer software. I did some more searching and the latest I could find is CloudNet's 3.21.00 (dated 28-5-2015) for CR-M200S. This one has OTA settings too, unveiling its manufacturer is Hotack. I believe it is a newer version than Ergotech's/Sunchip-Tech's version 9.0.0 because it has boot version 1.41 instead of 1.40.
CR-M200S download page is at link *6 and in lucize's post too.
Relatively new firmwares are also available by these companies:

I can approve that the CR-M200S firmware you linked works quite well. Have you tried the OTA update too?
Latest firmware (MD3056PW 3/sept/15) is from ergotech. Version 10. However there is no dlna subtitle support yet. I am waiting for this firmware to appear soon. None of the firmwares support subtitles over dlna. There is a metadata code that can be used on the firmware to support subs. My nas network disk (twonky server) supports metadata as most do. I am using version 10 without any problems. The only other problem I have is my tablets resolution which is not supported, 1280x 800, which gives me black borders on the sides on the casting TV (when on landscape). I have tried all firmwares with the same result.
There is a metadata code in ezcast forum that they have used to display subtitles over dlna which I am not allowed to post.
Also I have managed to use kodi/xbmc to display videos over dlna but no subs support again. There is a YouTube video and files you need in order to accomplish this.

I tried this vs the CR-M200S firmware, and the CR-M200S firmware is still the best imo. With my iphone that is the only one where mirroring works, and it seems to be less buggy.
Still awaiting a new better update than the CR-M200S . Youtube doesnt work with any of them!

I also have the same problem. WiDi of windows 8.1 (with supported hardware) does not work with the Chinese miracast dongle RK2928. I get the message:
Your HD digital display device did not supply the required identification data (EDID)
I found this site from sunchip, they say its workin on win 8.1 http://www.sunchip-tech.com/prod_view.aspx?TypeId=12&Id=71&FId=t3:12:3
on the screen captures you can see the firmware versión is 6.0.0 rc3, Im looking for it now in order to test.

Thanks. I will try this too.
I was able to test ergotech v10 firmware. After extensive tests It only worked with WIDI 3.5.41.0 driver. None of the latest intel WIDI drivers worked.
I will try to install ugoos firnmware to see if it works with latest intel WiDi drivers.
Thanks.
Update
Ugos A3S does not work on my Lenovo T420 laptop and Widi Intel 4.3.4.0 (((( I get the same message as before.
Update:
No firmware works with latest WiDi driver.
The only WiDi driver which works with any rk2928 firmware (I tried 3 firmwares) is 3.5.41.0.
Hardware:
Intel i5-2520M VPro
Intel Processor Graphics 3000 HD
Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 WiFi
Drivers
Graphic 9.17.10.4229
Wireless: 15.18.0.1
Software
WiDi application 3.5.41.0 installed 4.3.4.0 recommended (by intel widi update tool but is not working)..
The rk2928 firmware is miracast dlna airplay compatible, without any subtitle support over dlna.
For summary if you want widi support under windows 8 (8.1) then for me only intel widi 3.5.41.0 driver is working.
Also if you want dlna support under windows 8.1 it is possible. Samsung did produce a allshare excellent application which they have now discontinued, and is working like charm under windows 8.1.
Search google and download the Samsung allshare with version: 2.1.0.12031.10 (also called 2.1.0.12031_10)
Last point. For me ergotech V10 is the best firmware on Rk2928 dongle (as I have tested. My dongle used to display a connection name: lollipop)
ios9 airplay
Since ios9 update on iphone Airplay does not work on these dongles any more! and none of the firmware.
The latest firmware located on the ergo-tech website (ergotech.com.tw/tw/Download_detail.aspx?key= firmware v.11.0.0 and 3.0.0 here) claims that it supports ios9, but i have tried ios9.0.2 and 9.1 on these with iphone and it does not work.
Does anyone know a way of getting ios9 airplay to work?
There is a RK2928 dongle which claims to have ios9 support, the Visonicom RealCast VMD-RK156 realcastptv.com/tag/WiFi-display-dongle-Rockchip-RK2928) but i cannot find a firmware download for it.

Firmware 11 has problem with the quality. Frames are skipping and video picture gets distorted.

OTT m8s amlogic s812

can i download rom and Flash of
m8s+ firmware for m8s
kindly suggest me
Sent from my XT1068 using XDA Forums
apparently you can, however you will have problems with your wifi (IIRC) - from what i've gathered so far these things can be temperamental and if you've got a clone unit you may run into trouble
I have one of the M8S S812 OTT boxes and want to replace Android with Openelec. I have found a few .zip file ports of Openelec but I am stuck at the first hurdle. My particular box is crippled by intent as it doesn't have ADB developer settings in its Android settings menu and additionally it doesn't seem to have an Android recovery Partition. I was hoping there might be a simple Android based tool to install a version of TWRP (which I have found two compatible versions). The surprising thing is it is ROOTED by default.
I confirmed this state of affairs by installing some boot to recovery apps which simply reboot the box. Is there a way to do this via SSH which I can probably get setup.
My motivation is two fold, the box is to be used purely as a TV client and MPG2 decoding is marginal so removing the CPU overheads of Android can only help.
Any help would be appreciated.

I grabbed that but didn't install it successfully. Its an OTA update which don't work with TWRP. I might have to work out how to restore the Android recovery partition so that I can try this with OTA firmware.
Cheers for the heads up, now how to get the recovery partition back without flashing a whole new firmware img file.
Shoog
Snabbletax, can you tell me which version of Android this ROM contains. Its only going to be worth updating if it is Lollipop.
Edit: I attempted to get this working on my box but it failed the signature test. I am going to have to reload TWRP and recover my last backup since it did pick up another ROM which took me way back to square one.
I suspect that the only upgrade path for me is to find a full ROM img file to burn - but there are none of those about.

N00b Question regarding Kernel/Custom Os

So i've installed this custom os [ROM] [N6F26Q] AOSP Nougat (12 Jan 2017) on my Galaxy s2 plus, and then my DSLR camera connection stopped working (OTG), but the os says it should be compatible with OTG, i'm not sure the DSLR has anything with OTG to do tho?. Now i have googled around and found files neccessary for it to work, installed them and USB Host Controller detected them, still not recognising the camera.
So is there a way to install what's "neccessary" from the original stock firmware into some kind of kernal or "added function" via Custom Recovery or perhaps Odin?
Thanks to anyone that can potentially help to solve this!
This is something you give up when you use aosp. The otg works only if they use the open source version which most do not.
With aosp only the very basic functions will work.
Any custom rom for s2 plus that it works on if you know?
If anyone else have the same issue, it was never a problem with the os, i've tried it on several custom Os aslong as your phone is OTG compatible it works, it seems.
Buy a new OTG Cable and it will work again, or rather say buy the adapter version of it, better then the ****ty cable version that i bought, that broke out of thin air.

S905x (Android 7.1.2 ) TV Box GamePad support

Hey all,
I just got a MXQ Pro+ 4K (Android 7.1.2) hx_s905x TV box with 3GB RAM / 32GB ROM. Tested SU root with a root testing app, says the device is rooted ok. I checked for software updates and it says that Android is up to date:
Android Version: 7.1.2
Security patch level: May 5 2017.
Kernel version: 3.14.29 (March 2018)
Build: hx_s905x-userdebug 7.1.2 NHG47L 20180316 test keys Rev B5
I can not get my Logitech Rumblepad 2 wireless gamepad to work with it. Trying to avoid flashing a new ROM or anything that could brick it so I'm only looking for drivers for it and instructions on how to install them.
Good news:
1. I see the device listed as plugged in through the "USB Device Info" app, it recognizes it as Logitech Rumblepad 2 and recognizes another generic gamepad as well.
2. Gamepad is not broken - my old Android Box with Android v.4.4.4 detects it just fine, I can play games and navigate through Android UI on it using the gamepad.
Bad news:
1. Neither the Logitech Rumblepad nor the generic gamepad work in games or in Android UI on the MXQ Pro+
2. Tried a bunch of gamepad testing apps from Play Store but no values come up, it is not detected at all.
What I need help with:
Drivers, modules... anything that will allow gamepad support on Android 7.1.2 and instructions how to install them. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
It is really weird that an older Android comes with support out of the box yet the latest one doesn't.
I know this is old, but after doing searching, it seems like no one replies to these threads with gamepad issues. Is this just something that's troublesome for devs to implement? Are the driver modules just not available? I am in the exact same boat as you, I'm hoping in the future I can turn my little android boxes into steam link + htpc devices.
