Hello flashers!
I am proud to present you my latest work.
PhoeniX Kernel for Galaxy S5 G900F.

Users Pay Attention!
This kernel was built for:
- Galaxy S5 G900F
- Touchwiz 6.0.1
Do not use it on other devices because it might brick your device!
I take no responsibility for any damaged that might have been caused by using this kernel.

Overview:
PhoeniX Kernel was officialy introduced in PhoeniX ROM for Galaxy Note II.
Since then, PhoeniX Kernel was implemented in all PhoenIX ROMs.
Basically, I don't open a thread to my kernel. However, plenty of users are using the beta firmware of 6.0.1 with stock kernel.
Recently, Samsung released a stable kernel source for 6.0.1.
So, I've decided to rebase my kernel to this source and make it public, so all users can enjoy this kernel even on a beta rom.

Additional Notes:
This kernel was built to match PhoeniX ROM goals. Therefore, I am not going to include the following:
- Things I don't like.
- Things that can risk devices and are dangerous(Such as OC...).
- Experimental things.
- Gaming modules that are not included by Samsung(I am not a gamer, so I don't really care..)
- F2FS - causes compatibility issues and there is no need for that.
Flash at your own risk. I take no responsibility for any damaged that might have been caused by using this kernel.
I don't really care about benchmark results. Most stock kernels should have between 50K to 55K without OC. The most important thing is how you feel with this kernel. I can give you a patch that can get score of 120K but what is the point if the kernel has lags
Flash only on Touchwiz 6.0.1 ROMs.

I will write later a review.

hi there
This is the first time i use a custom kernel on this device, so am not aware about de settings i can change.
So far, after 24Hrs use with default settings on my daily rom i didn't notice any problem.
I got the feeling that the battery use is better but its a bit too early to confirm
Anyway thanks for the great job @tamirda

Bro this kernel is really battery friendly without any compromise of the phones performance..How did you do it? Cause most custom kernels I know are not battery friendly at all. Thanks a lot for the kernel Bro.

Hello.
Thank you for the kernel.
I found my device is a little more fast and smooth.
The battery I still testing.... but for now but I think is close to stock.
Respect....

No.
I work only with devices, which I have.
Very tempting to try a more recent TW 5.0.0 optimized Kernel since KTOONZES last TW Build is from February and I don't really need to have any OC / UV to begin with as well (sometimes less is more). And even more tempting when I read that it has great RAM Management and battery life (and that I'm flash addicted). Just sounds to good to skip - I think I'll flash it tomorrow to see for myself.
Whats the exact "latest" (as in Version Number) Samsung Kernel Source this is based on?

[KERNEL][v50030a][v50030b][5.0.2]Fishears Custom 1.2.3 & StockPlus 1.0.8

FISHEARS KERNELS FOR STOCK KOREAN V50030A AND HONG KONG V50030B ROMS **ONLY**
DO NOT FLASH WITH ANY OTHER ROM
This project consists of two kernels:
Fishears StockPlus Kernel:
Based on the Stock LG kernel from the Korean v50030a, Android 5.0.2 ROM. It will always stay as close as possible to the original kernel whilst being kept up to date with the Linux Stable 3.4.y branch and including other patches that can be considered as bug-fixes to the original LG source code. This is best for people who want an up to date Stock kernel experience.

Fishears Custom Kernel:
Also based on the Stock LG kernel from the Korean v50030a, Android 5.0.2 ROM. It will be kept up to date with the Linux Stable 3.4.y branch and will also include various enhancements and performance improvements for people who like to tweak their kernel setup.

An Important Note About MLT.apk:
One of the first things we noticed when testing my kernels was that something was causing unusually high CPU load and therefore battery drain. Investigations revealed that the cause was an app called MLT.apk which is included in the v50030a and v50030b ROMs under /system/priv-app/MLT/. This app has an unknown purpose - LG don't provide any details. The main point here is that to use a non-stock kernel you will have to disable this app. This is not negotiable. Something about the app does not play nice with anything but the official stock kernel. I am providing two flashable zips that will disable or enable this app (all they do is rename it).
Click to collapse
Installation Instructions:
Backup your device
Flash the MLTdisabler.zip in recovery
Flash whichever of my kernel zips you want from here (they are bumped already)
Reboot and profit
I recommend Trickster Mod or Kernel Adiutor for managing kernel settings but other kernel managers are available.
If you're wondering why the you only see "3.4.110" or whatever under About tablet, Software info - that's because LG have restricted the display of kernel information in the ROM. If you use xposed and G3 TweaksBox then you can enable extra info like in the screenshot below.
If at any time you decide you want to go back to the stock kernel then flash the MLTenabler.zip followed by this Stock Kernel zip (or just restore your backup).

There are four main branches to be aware of:
Master - this is the original LG source code for v50030a kernel
Rebase - this is Master plus the latest commits from Linux Stable 3.4.y
Custom - this is Rebase plus the Custom kernel code
StockPlus - this is Rebase plus the StockPlus code
I hope that the Rebase branch will act as a stable codebase for other Devs to build kernels for v50030a and v50030b. I will keep it up to date with Linux Stable 3.4.y - please fork yourselves dizzy :silly:

Bug Reports and Feature Requests:
Bugs can be reported in the thread or at the GitHub Issue Tracker
Please provide as much information as you can about your kernel settings and any modifications to your ROM - also provide logs. If you're new to bug reporting then its simplest to use an app. If you install Kernel Adiutor and go to Settings you'll see a Debugging section. There you can save your logcat, dmesg and last_kmsg to internal storage. Please do this after you experience an issue and then zip them up and post them with a complete description of the issue.
Feature requests will be considered but please don't expect to get everything you ask for, I'm not Santa

This is great! Just flashed/booted and working fine so far.

Thanks @fishears! Flashed custom version, no tweaking for now. First impression: feels a lot smoother than default kernel! Going to test battery tomorrow after charging. Great work so far! :highfive:

Yes, a gamma fix would be awesome. Dark scenes in videos tend to be almost all black.
This kernel thread supposedly had a fix for old kitkat kernels. And there seems to be github sources for the fix:

Good. I was going to ask if you d be up for continuing and testing betas for me. To test I guess we'd need a dark scene on YouTube, like from a Batman maybe. But I haven't even looked at the code yet. I'll send you a PM when I have something.
Alright, just flashed the custom kernel, will report about my build and battery life on the weekend. Seems smooth and stable so far!
Would you add Multirom's support?
Was there any Multirom support before? It is the first time I hear it for the G Pad 8.3. It has little internal storage anyway and using an SD card would mean that you can't remove it. This is also very hard to test, since it takes a lot of tinkering with internal memory and microSD partitioning. @Maraudeur, do you have a link to a git repo for th G Pad 8.3?

Don't worry, I've just ported @tassadar's kexec hardboot patch and @beroid has already done this
My Custom kernel should have kexec hardboot support in the next release but I won't be testing it...
Finally a custom kernel for stock Gpad 8.3 roms! thanks for the work and love for this awesome but under rated tablet, i'll be testing the kernel

Firstly, there is multirom by @beroid for long time yet. But he closed thread and doesn't support it anymore. Secondly, I have got HTC M8 with the same storage space - 16Gb and multirom runs very good on it. It's sufficient only two ROMs in most cases - stock and CM or AOSP.

Suddenly I started getting failed Safetynet .. Magisk Core Only or Magisk Hide both enabled but fails ... any clue ... i tried fresh install of Batstock Rom and new kernel version with Magisk, but no use ...
I know it has been a long ongoing issue but just wanted to check if anybody found a working solution on this combo

time keeping module shows wrong boot epoch time
Hi,
This issue was observed on V1.1.0, but stil exist in V1.2.2.
A sympthom of the problem can be seen in:
dreamlte:/ # cat /proc/stat
btime 1485100236
The kernel functions that suppose to return the boot epoch time (wall time since 1970), e.g. ktime_get_real_seconds, getboottime etc,
returns an erronouse value.
commit e1d7ba8 (time: Always make sure wall_to_monotonic isn't positive), which is included in kernel V4.3-rc1,
observe the same issue and proposed a fix, but still it is not working for the exynos platform.
Does anyone has noticed this, and maybe have an idea for a fix?
Thanks a lot,
Avri
Hey guys and girls
I'm back from holidays and should be able to answer the most questions from now on!
Just in case you want to have quicker support you should be thinking about registering yourself on our website, as there are most of the time other team members online and here on XDA it's just me supporting all of those threads.
BTW, there is already a test version available for AQG5 or higher roms, check it out here!
Have a nice day and see you in the forums

About the kernel and if it is for gaming, this kernel is mainly very close to stock and not heavily modded. So if you didn't had any issues with stock kernel this one will be good for you as well!
As said waiting for AQGB kernel source code!

That only happens if you are NOT on AQG5, reason: camera libs need to be updated otherwise the camera will constantly loop your device (some seconds after successfully boot process)

This kernel exists because of the great kernel developers that we've been blesses with here in the Note 4 forums. Since they have moved on for the most part and their kernels are no longer being updated I'm going to try my best to fill that void. Along with being completely upstreamed to the latest Linux version it includes, what I think, is the best parts of all the kernels that we've enjoyed from the last several years.
As with anything on XDA, FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK. While I do my best to test everything there just no way of knowing how a kernel might respond to your current setup. With that being said, PLEASE HAVE A BACKUP just in case

Wake Controls
To get the wake controls working: Turn on the control you want to use in Kernel Adiutor and then, using a root file explorer, go to /sys/android_touch2/ then find the corresponding file ie doubletap2wake and open the file with a text editor. If the file says 0 change it to 1, if it's already one just save and exit. After that it should work every time until you turn it back off in KA. If you want to turn it back on just repeat the above process.
I consider this to be as good as the wake controls are going to get. They've never really worked reliably but at least with this way it does and to be honest I probably won't put too much more work into getting it any better. Sorry.

Many Thanks!! Great work!! Success on the N910T with ApocalypseX_M rom.
One thing though I'm using the extended battery since I have a Kranich 9600mAH battery, in kernel Auditor it registers as 3200mAH. Not a huge deal to me, I'm fairly confident the kernel will eventually learn.

I've read that about the extended batteries in regards to kernel adiutor showing 3200 still. I think the app is reading something from the rom instead of the kernel. Race rom shows 3600 even with a stock kernel.
Like you said, it should even itself out after a bit. I think I read that it might take two battery cycles. Is that right?

When I was using RamKernel, it took about a week to adjust 100%. At first I'd run out and reboot & have 65%. Then 30, then 20, 10, 5 etc. So I think it's more than 2 battery cycles, but nevertheless it does eventually adjust.
Gonna go ahead and charge it overnight. I'll update with anything else. Other than that, great work my friend!

It depends on the ROM you use, the kernel has nothing to do with it. I've used this kernel with ROMs that support the camera fix, and yes, it works.
and what oreo rom have you used on s6 edge with camera working? i can t find nothing just roms without camera..

The ROM or my fix? My fix is private, Universal Oreo is public and you can find it on XDA.
