Extracted PIT File Download | SM-G530T | T-Mobile | 8GB Model - Galaxy Grand Prime General

Hello everyone, I have extracted the PIT file from my T-Mobile Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530T). Hopefully this will come in handy in case you ever brick your device.
SM-G530T PIT File Download: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995301324
5.1.1 SM-G530T Firmware (OF8) Base Download: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995301305
How to extract PIT from your device?Note: Root is required to extract your PIT.
1. Download Terminal from the play store
2. type su
3. type or paste in dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/out.pit bs=8 count=580 skip=2176
4. Pit is now located on your device.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
What are Samsung PIT Files?
PIT files contain the Partition Information Table (PIT) for Samsung Android phones. Different firmware versions may require different partition layouts so the necessary PIT file 'tells' Odin how to set up the phone partitions correctly for the specified firmware to be installed. Sometimes odin can't find the pit in results in odin saying "there's no pit partition" or something similar. That's why pits are important.
The PIT file contains all the relevant information for each required partition such as Partition Name, Flash File Name, Block Size, Block Count etc. and also contains some unknown properties that maybe identifiers or flags of some sort.
Note: Flashing Pits can totally brick your device! Most times it not needed! Be extra extra careful on what you do! I or no one else is responsible for damages. You are responsible for that!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO FLASH PIT FILE TO UNBRICK YOUR DEVICE
Take that PIT file and place it in the PIT slot in Odin along with the Firmware for your device in the PDA/AP slot.
Click Repartition and Auto Reboot. (Note if first attempt fails with a SET PARTITION error then run it again WITHOUT the repartition checked)

Now your data/partitions may not mount. Simply install twrp and reformat the partitions. In twrp, go to "Wipe" --> "Advanced Wipe" --> "Repair or Change File System" --> "Select Partition to Repair or Format" --> "Change File System" --> "EXT4". Hopefully that should fix your problems.
Thats it guys. Be very careful flashing PIT's as they may potentially brick your device.

Thanks for your post 'DUHAsianSKILLZ''... n Greetingz!
I'm going to try this again because I received an error that my PIT file was corrupted. I tried again (unpacking the d/led file) and same error. After feeling some hope deferred I just put the phone down for a minute. But now I see your post and I'm going to try it again. I've already followed the link and downloaded the file again.
Question though: Do I put the zip file or the actually image files in Odin? And what about the PIT file... does it go into Odin as a zip or a PIT file?
Another question (if you don't mind): Can you point me in the right direction to root this phone? It's got FRP and I've like downloaded EVERY box software/ watched just about every you-tube video for this issue/ and I just feel stuck. Is it because I have Linux OS? I use J(ava)Odin.v3.CASUAL and it seems to work --minus those corrupt error messages I got.
So yeah.... thank you for this post and your contributions. You guys are a real help!

Hello BadRx.
Im not too sure about Odin on Linux (I use Heimdall on a Debian-based distro and even then, my usage has been very limited).
But does the PIT youre using from the OP match the firmware youre using?
As i mentioned, i use Heimdall when im on Linux, so that might be a preferable option.

By Firmware do you mean the firmware for SM-G530T? If so, I don't really know. I have a "Factory Binary" ROM for the G530T but now sure if that would cause it to corrupt.
Firmware: LMY47X.FA51_G530TUVU2API1

Yup yup. Same device im using.
If ODIN does any sort of firmware or checksum checks, it might find the mismatch in firmware and error back with "corrupt."
Since your fw is (API1) and the op is based on (OF8) that might be the problem.

Yup... ok. I think I know what I have to do. Then again. I say that just about every time I "think I know what I have to do". Go figure. It's easy? ... Not that easy though. It gets confusing as hell. But I really want this skill set. From the time I was 8 or 9 (IDK, the year WarGames came out) I've always had a computer and always was magnetically attracted to them, still am! So it's a Labor of love --but a labor non the less. My brain is so fragmented. I've downloaded so many programs and tutorials but read little. I just don't have access to a computer 24/7 anymore.
Anyway.. thanks so much for your contribution and help.

[GUIDE] HOW TO FIX your unflashable or soft bricked GSII

Hello everyone!
I thought that this forum is more appropriate to post this, to avoid any new "lulz i r borked" threads. Plus, I had good feedback on the other flrum section
This is a guide dedicated to noobs, so if you're not one, I would advise to stop reading now! (altough feedback would be great! )
Yes, there have been quite a few threads about fixing a soft brick. But what I'm writting now is another solution to a different kind of problem : unflashable GSII (which also works with a soft brick of course ), which is a soft brick and a corrupted NAND rw (read/write) function.
Just in case you don't know, a soft brick occurs when you flash a ROM or Kernel, and it doesn't go your way, thus bricking the "soft part", aka Software, of your phone. Therefore, it is easy to recover from. Now, regarding NAND rw (NAND's read and write function being the corruption) it means that it is an issue deeper than a soft brick. It is obvious when you can flash a kernel, but you can't flash a ROM, because it can't properly read the NAND, but can flash a kernel. But you ask, why the kernel? Because flashing a kernel is a bit deeper than flashing a ROM. When you flash a kernel, you're changing/putting new instructions to the hardware, and when flashing a ROM, the instructions that are drewn are different and more "simple", so when flashing, ODIN wkll say "FAIL" instead of "PASS", or suddenly stopping the flash out of nowhere.
Let's start with the basic files, downloads and requirements
1) You have to know the basics of ODIN and flashing (duh )
2) Just to be safe, please uninstall Samsung KIES. It usually interferes when flashing with ODIN. You must have the USB drivers from your phone, so don't uninstall them. Only uninstall the program KIES.
3) Download ODIN, the tool that we'll use to flash all the things into our beloved Galaxy S II
4) Download the necessary files : the Kernel, the Recovery Package and the Bootloader (it's the old one, which you can easily use a USB JIG to reset the counter and remove the yellow triangle when having a custom kernel or OS)
5) You must have WinRAR to unRAR the Recovery Package and to unzip ODIN.
You can also use 7zip, as sugested by jermitano
And that is it! Let's get down to business
If your GSII has the folowing symptoms :
Bootloop
Stuck on GSII logo, but already removed the battery to try to fix it
Enters Download mode and Recovery mode
It means that you are soft bricked and is easy to solve.
But if your symptoms are the mentioned above, PLUS the symptoms below
Enters Download mode but does NOT enter recovery mode (usually means a NAND rw corruption)
Doesn't flash
Bad flash in odin (FAIL after flashing, or the flashing suddenly stops)
Then it means that you have a bigger issue, such as the aforementioned NAND rw corruption.
It's time to open up ODIN and start reviving your phone!
First of all, let's just have a quick glance of how ODIN looks like, and where we should put the files :
{

As the picture clearly shows, the green rectangle is where you can tick. Those 2 which are ticked must remain that way.
ONLY FLASH WITH RE-PARTITION TICKED AND A PIT FILE IF YOU ARE SURE
THAT THE FLASH WILL SUCCEED.
Which means that you CANNOT have a damaged USB, corrupted drivers and such.

When recovering from a soft brick, it is recommended, not mandatory, to have Re-partition ticked with a .PIT file. So you must be extra careful when you are using a .PIT and Re-Partition. And obviously, the red box is the one where you can't and don't want to mess with
But where are the files going, you say?
.PIT -> PIT
CODE -> PDA
MODEM -> PHONE
CSC -> CSC
There is only 1 way to recover a soft bricked phone. How to recover from a NAND corruption? We'll get on that later on
Recovering a soft bricked phone
1) Grab the Recovery Package, and you'll see a bunch of .tar files. Take a look at the names. You'll see CODE, MODEM, CSC and .PIT. Put each one in its place, and tick re-partition.
2) Turn off your phone. Enter Download mode by presing Vol. Up + Home + Power button.
3) Plug in your phone. It will show you, in a yellow box in ODIN, ID:COMx (x being the number displayed, sometimes displays 7, sometimes displays 9)
4) Once ready and done all your prayers, press Start. Wait patiently. It usually takes 5 minutes to flash.
Have you done everything correctly until now? Then...
Congratulations on recovering your phone!
You deserve some cake afterwards, and some rest
Now, if your problem is the NAND rw coruption, and wasn't fixed by the above fix, then follow these steps :
5) Download the Kernel. Flash it in PDA. Without ticking Re-Partitioning
6) Successful? Nice, hope is still present.
7) Flash the recovery package, following steps 1-4 This should fix your issue. If it does not, then :
WARNING : FLASHING A BOOTLOADER IS DANGEROUS. FLASH WITH EXTREME CAUTION.
8) Download the Bootloader. Flash it as PDA or Bootloader in ODIN. Without ticking Re-Partitioning
9) Flash the Kernel, as in step 5
10) Flash the recovery package, like in steps 1-4 And that will fix any of your issues
I hope that this guide was helpful, and if it was, hit the thanks button!
Credits mainly go to Intratech, for his amazing gallery of ROMS and files

Well in that thread, you said you flashed a .pit file. These .pit files control the partition sizes on the phone. So the .pit file you used there is responsible for reducing your USB storage to its current size. You will need to find a .pit file meant for the 16gb model of the i9100.
Look at this guide, and download the recovery package specifically for the i9100. (not the G/M/P or T) That package should contain the .pit file for the i9100 16gb model.
EDIT: hmm. I just checked - looks like the packages don't have the .pit file after all. Sorry.

[Q] S3 doesn't boot anymore

Hello guys,
I wanted to change my rom of my phone and so made a backup of everything and also saw that the internal partition was messed by custom rom.
I saw folders like: "0/" and 2 more.
My idea was to repartition with pit file, but I was messing with NAND Erase All, and now I stuck with flashing in Odin.
When I want to repartition it doesn't go further then: NAND Write Start!!
I did try to:
- Terminate the Samsung Kies Process
- Try Different USB ports
- Try Different versions of Odin

The 0 folder was probably from an install of 4.2.2, and you could (and should) have just deleted it manually, if you wanted to get rid of it. Using a pit file with the SIII is generally NOT recommended, and now you know why.
In the FAQ, you might be able to find a way to recover it, if you can boot at all, but if you are had bricked, which it sounds like you are from the description you gave, you will need JTAG or Samsung repair.
Using nand erase all is probably what killed your phone.

That's what I was suspecting, I tend to use these in trouble, and it seems that using a .pit might only work with these, just an ongoing observation that I may be wrong about, but I certainly would try if I ever needed to use a .pit

Yep, although I'd have to be fairly desperate before I ticked that repartition box!
So many people seem to panic, follow the first advise they find and make it worse in the process. This one was very lucky.
My phone did work without any problems and after flashing a couple of new custom roms, the phone shutdown random and sometimes it reboots random.
I did swap the battery with an other one, but this didn't solve the issue.
I'm now downloading the Rescue Firmware and I will try this and hoping that this will solve my phone's issue.
I am also going to buy the Samsung Galaxy S4 monday, so I want to solve this problem with my phone so I can have it as second smartphone.
The problem was the eMMC chip The samsung galsxy s3 have the issue that the eMMC chip(storage chip) can go insane so you need a repair by Samsung. You can test this with an app called eMMC test tool or something for S3

If your trying to change firmware on heimdall you need to first ....
1)Fire up Heimdall
2)Turn your phone off then put it into download mode with 3 button combo (Power, down, home)

4)Once device is connected go to Utilities and and hit Detect device
5)Go down to Download pit...Name and save your pit by hitting (Save As)Name & Save your pit to your Desktop then hit download. Your pit file is basically your phones map (Partitions) Where to install things like boot loader, modem, recovery etc... DO NOT USE SOMEONE ELSE'S PIT FILE OR DOWNLOAD ONE FROM THE WEB IT MAY HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE. Trust me i know
6)When that has downloaded then to to (Flash) and hit (Bowser Pit)
7) Pick the pit file you had saved on your desktop.
8) Once thats done go to Partition files and hit (Add) MDM is for Modem
Once you do that hit start and you should be all set .Let it do its thing and reset itself and BOOM! New firmware! Hope this helps its been awhile so if I've missed something someone please correct me.DO THIS AT YOUR QWN RISK!!!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PHONE DIES!!!!!

ok, thanks a lot!

How to make sure I have the latest modem and bootloader installed?

I am currently running:
Build: ALEXNDR.N960FXXU6FTJ5
Baseband version: N960FXXU6FTJ1
>MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LATEST MODEM AND BOOTLOADER INSTALLED!
Getting ready to flash a new rom, but I haven't done this for a while.
1) How do I check what modem version I have?
Based on the I *think* the modem is "FTJ1", but I'm not 100% sure.
2) How do I find out if there is a newer modem available?
3) What Bootloader version do I have? Is it "6" (the 5th character from the right in the Baseband version)?
Download the latest firmware from samfw.com. Since that website source builds official Samsung servers, the latest firmware there should be always the latest.

Yes, no problems. I have done this a few times before.
@Cyndaquissshhh what's the trick to downloading the firmware? I click it and it won't download...
Oh, there are three buttons (on some pages there will be four). You can either download it from Google Drive or "Download SamFW server". I don't recommend "download on browser" since the downloaded file would get stored as site data. As you can imagine that's not a good thing...
I find their site to be very confusing. Thank you for your help, @Cyndaquissshhh . I finally ended up download a file named "Samfw.com_SM-N960F_INS_N960FXXU9FUK1_fac.zip".

If there's 4 tars in it, choose what it says. Like if it says AP, then choose the AP in Odin (you'll have to use ODIN ofc)
I don't know how it goes for newer devices but I had to always choose only a single file and then flash..
@notnoelchannel the .zip file has 5 files that all match up as you said (AP, BL, CP, and CSC) but the 5th file starts off with "HOME_". Does that go in the "USERDATA" box in Odin?

Don't use the HOME_CSC (i guess)
You need only 4 files, try flashing the 4 files but don't put the "HOME_" one
But as I said I don't own a Note 9, so I recommend to ask someone else :/
But if you choose all the files, it will flash the whole stock rom back!!!so don't!!! only BL and CP as Painkiller-axel said
Thank you. I have other questions regarding the flashing process but I think I will start another thread so this one doesn't get too confusing for people to read.
