Why are there gaps in battery life history? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
Why is it that the history chart has huge gaps in it?
For example, the Android Authority review:
http://cdn02.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Screenshots-9.jpg
I thought it was maybe the phone restarting, but my uptime is about 120 hours and I still get it. What causes it?

The gap is when your phone is idle... Ideally it should not be there...

OK cool after flashing the dev ROM this has gone away

[Q] SGS2 getting very hot

I just received my SGS2 this afternoon and I've noticed it getting uncomfortably hot.
All I've done is root the phone, install a few apps and just general exploring/messing around.
The screen is getting very hot, the top half especially.
So is the back of the phone, again the top half mostly and especially the part just to the right of the camera lens.
Any hotter than this and I would be seriously concerned...
Anyone else?
No. Ten characters
HI there
I have the galaxy S2 for few days. Today this afternoon, I also experience the same thing. It get so hot (i can really feel it) and the battery is drained to around 20 % in just about 40 mins. The phone is charge twice.
During the hot time i did
- The battery was around 80%.
- Wifi is on
- facebook app is on.
- the phone was in a sleeve all time and i have not use it at all.
the phone become really got until i restart and close all apps.
I look at the battery usage... the graph was on peak for few hrs (not sure how)
media usage is 28% the rest are below 20%
anyone share words of wisdom? defected phone?
Mine has been pretty cool for the most part. It started to toast my fingers around the back where the camera lens is after dicking around on Angry Birds for 15 minutes but aside from that, no problems with heat.

battery drain faster (alot)?
can you guys post temperature numbers? can pull those from dmesg log, or OS monitor, or system panel, etc.
anything higher than 40C is not the best.

Or more likely, defective facebook lol.
Either way, the hardware has built in overheating protection as it will shut down automatically. Heat is generally no problem - electronics is used to being toasty. My 3Gs can get hot as hell after a surfing session or movie watching, still going strong (or warm), haha.

After being on standby for over an hour, OS Monitor reports (under the battery section, no other section reports temperature) that the phone was 36C, after a few mins of playing this jumped up to 41C then back to a stable 39C.
If the phone (do we still call these things phones?!) gets overly hot again, I will check the temperature and report it here...
Edit: Now that I've taken it off charge, its gone down to 25C
I would check your wifi network. That sounds like a typical scenario when the phone starts to lose wifi and kicks into 3G and back and forth repeatedly. It's trying to get and keep a connection.
I don't have my SGSII yet, but I do have a blind spot in my wifi network that ironically is also the area of the worst 3G coverage in the house. Every phone I've owned will do something similar on occasion.
I also have this issue.
I was playing Angry Birds for about 20 mins and the phone was getting so hot.
Is this safe or should I be concerned?

Finally did the OTA update... crazy good battery?

Hey guys... I finally updated my E3D with that update. My sister and dad both updated theirs when they first got it.
I'm getting really good battery life. Minimal usage yesterday, but after 16+ hours I still had more than 60%... I even played a little N64oid.
However, my sister and my dad both get pretty bad - decent battery life. My dad doesn't use the phone nearly as much as me.
I wish I knew what settings are doing it. We all have the same settings but my idle time loses me like 2-3%/hr but for them it can be up to 7-10%/hr.
Anyone in a household with more than a couple E3D's getting this varied battery life?
Settings are virtually the same, and location isn't a big factor either.
A lot of things impact battery. If the settings are the same across all phones perhaps the drain is app related. If you really want to test you should factory reset all phones and then check. This way all truly have same settings and apps. I would bet at that point they all drain the same.
I did the OTA and my battery life shot up instantly.
Before the OTA I would have around 15 hours of light to moderate use of text, calls, and browsing before it hit 50 percent. Now, I would basically do the same things but I can go a full day before it hits 70 percent.
I bet you they use the phone more...calls..facebook....etc..friend of mine gets couple hours...and he plays games non stop.

[Q] Extreme low battery usage / Battery drops/ SG2 suddenly shut down

Hi all,
I've got my sg2 since june and since the first moment I have got the same problems. I had the stock ROM & kernel with android 2.3.3. The problems I experienced were these:
1) extreme low battery life (6-10 hours, with normal usage)
2) when using heavy apps, my s2 just suddenly turns of. When rebooting it, it has a battery drop of like ~15%. (this only occurs when battery is already bellow 40% left).
3) Like 5-20 times a day (it really difference day-to-day), I got the notification that I have to put my sg2 on a charger. - So the battery bar drops from example 80% to 1%. After like 1 or 2 minutes it just fills up back again to the 80% before. Sometimes when this occurs, it also turns in a few % (like 80% before, and afterwards 75%).
So what did I already tried to fix this?:
- bought new 1600mah battery > didnt solve the problem, conclusion: no hardware malfunction
- I thought the problems could be occured by the tiny space between the battery and the frame of the phone. So it had a lack in connection... So I filled up the little space with i tiny piece of paper> nope didnt helped.
- downloaded mutiply apps for battery saving, task killers, etc etc.> didnt help!
It's really really frustrating, and I'm guessing more and more it's just a software problem. I do have warranty/insurance on it, but i don't want to send my phone to a repairservice because then I've no phone for like 3 or 4 weeks.
So my last option for me was to try a custom ROM and Kernel. So last week I installed the Lite'ning ROM. I also followed up the advice to calibrate my battery, so i did.
And the first day it was running really smoothed! At the end of the day my battery was still alive and I've used it for over 20hours, so I was really statisfied... But a small sidenote: I had a really busy day at work, so I didnt use my phone that much.
So next day, used it alot more. After 5 hours it had only 50% left.... And that's not all, my phone turned off suddenly. Not once, not twice, but 5 times that day.
Seems all these solutions didnt help. The only positive thing of installing Lite'ning ROM is that i now have about 4 or 5 hours more battery life a day.. But if I use it alot, it shut downs a lot more. Wich lead in more battery drops after reboot.
I'm really desperate, and I really don't know what to do now. Does someone have got these really frustrating problems, and do you guys have got some solutions?
And one more question: is my warranty/issurance voided after installing the Lite'ning 6.1 ROM? or can it by tresspassed by using a Jig?
Tnx for your time, and I really really hope you guys can help me cause i'm really getting sick of all this. It's killing me!!!
ps. sorry for my bad english
your warranty is voided by installing custom rom but u can unroot and use the jig to remove counts in counter.
now apart from that it seems if u use your phone for 5-6 hours continuous it will drain the battery because main source of battery drain is the screen display but for moderate use it should be a little over a day.
i am unclear about your usage but still if you have doubts you should really get it checked at a service center.
I would flash back to stock, use the jig to clear the flash counter and exchange that phone, seems it has some type of hardware issue that could be related to temperature as it only shuts down when you use it.
My 0.02 cents

My usage is definetly not THAT extreme, i guess moderate: I never watch movies or youtube, just some messages with WhatsApp, about 4 of 5 times a day checking Facebook, same for Twitter, always GPS off, some time of the day Wi-fi on, never play games, always closing apps on background.
i've got an example of my battery usage (this is one of the best battery usage days i got!!!):

Question about battery life

I recently bought an open box S3 from Rogers and the first few days it worked fine and the battery life seemed pretty awesome. Today however the battery seems to be discharging very very quickly even while on stand by. Unfortunately I do not have a screen shot because I jsut did a factory reset to see if it solves the problem and currently monitoring it. But prior to doing the reset it was on battery for about 3-3.5 hrs and dischaged 40% of the battery in that time frame. I made 2 brief (1min) phone calls, a few tex tmessages, roughly 10mins of facebook on my way to work in that time frame, and a few internet searches. My biggest concern is that even while on standby it seems to be discharging quit a bit (roughly 10%/hr). This wasn't the case when I frist recieved the phone as it discharged maybe 4-5% an hour on stand by. What should be looking at in terms of battery discharge on stand by an hour so I know what to look for this time after the reset?
You mention ROGERS .
That leads me to believe you are yet another in the wrong forum as per the sticky top of the page .

Vbus_wake_lock wakelock keeping the phone awake

Hello everyone,
I've been following these forums every now and then and was very helpful when I encounter some minor problems so far.
But lately I start having a very strange problem on my mom's phone which is a Samsung Galaxy Win (i8552- stock rom- android 4.1.2) and couldn't really find a decent solution or a good explanation so far. So I decided to ask you guys.
The problem is phone is having a bit poor bettery life overall, especially while in idle. I found out most of the times it is losing 2-3% battery per hour while idling (i.e overnight). Sometimes it's slightly more 1% per hour and sometimes between 0.5-1% (which sounds more normal).
While in idle usually Androis OS seems eating up the battery around 50-60%. I disabled most of the notifications, most of the sync options (especially google ones), all kinds of screen sounds, facebook update intervals, uninstalled Avast and also disabled the location access. But these changes didn't really give a noticable difference. Battery drain inconsistency was still there.
After I noticed this strange battery drain I decided to digging it up a bit more and installed GSM Battery and wakelock detector.
Firs that I noticed in GSM battery is that the phone is awake for like 1.5 hours out of 7-8 hours of overnight idling. And Android OS kernel seemed responsible for this. But couldn't really get more clues.
Then I found more clues on the culprit in Wakelock Detector under "kernel wakelocks" tab. Which is vbus_wake_lock wakelock.
WD shows vbus_wake_lock is awake for almost an hour after the last charge, which was 7 hours ago.
After I found this I googled around a bit but couldn't really found a useful explanation except it might be caused by an apple charger. But I know that mom's using the original samsung charger.
I tried rebooting to see if it helps. It's been almost 4 hours now, phone lost around 2% battery which seems ok-ish but the vbus_wake_lock is still there with 25 minutes of awake.
So any idea. What should I do to hunt this wakelock down?
I don't really want to make her worried about her phone though, she seems happy with it, since she is playing some games and charging it every day so not really having a battery issues. But I know that there's something wrong here and I want to fix it.
So I desperately need your helps guys.
Thanks a lot.
Sorry for my English btw, as it's not my native.
Best,
