How can I enable LTE bands on rooted V10? - Verizon LG V10

I read somewhere in another thread that someone was able to get in and edit some settings on the phone to enable the bands needed for LTE and calling to work with carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile. I'm trying to sell my V10 so it would be helpful if I could get that to work properly. Does anyone know how to do so on the VS990?

I would love to know how to do this also. T-Mobile at my house is wicked fast. But Verizon is like 3 megabytes per second download and 1 Megabyte per second upload if I could force it to the T-Mobile towers that would be excellent.

Forcing to a tmobile tower is completely different then trying to get other bands working. i think you would have to modify the prl

[Q] Can the AT&T Note used in Japan (if the phone is unlocked?)

As the subject stated: I am planning to unlock my AT&T Galaxy Note to use it in Japan, but not sure if the Note will work there. I just want to be able to make calls and do light browsing at 3G speed (not 4G LTE)
Japan have 3G GSM network, so it should be, But want to confirm before I spent the $$$ unlocking my AT&T Note.
it has the proper frequencies for cellular use on 3g idont know about hspa+ so prbly dataspeeds around 2-5 mbps

Thank you for the information!
What kind of prepaid SIM are you going to use in Japan? I couldn't find any SIM that has prepaid voice and data together. So I'm planning to use b-mobile 1GB data plan with fusion IP phone SMART. That way, I can send/receive phone call and use data.
Did you have any luck? I can't get the bmobile sim to work with this phone. Urgent help needed. I suspect it takes some special config or different radio but I don't know. The bmobile instructions alone don't work.
Look up APN for bmobile. Just my 2 cents.

I had all the correct settings. I suspect the card did not work with Android 4.12. I have seen references online to rolling back to 4.11 for possibly unrelated or possibly related issues. They would not refund, so I had to do a charge-back on the card. Never trust a company who fails to stand behind a product when it completely fails to work. I ended up paying the higher price for AT&T which worked well except don't trust their wifi app - it tries to connect to partners who aren't partners, which disrupts the otherwise working mobile data connection.
Well, that really sucks, man. I guess your best shot would be to try and find another carrier that is GSM if the roll back to 4.1.1 doesnt work. Best of luck.

T-Mobile HTC One on AT&T

So I found someone I might trade my S4 for an HTC One, Its not unlocked but I know several places to unlock it, as I have AT&T.
How well does the T-Mobile HTC One work on AT&T are the correct 3G/HSPA+ bands there? Would LTE work?
100% fine.
Yes, T-Mobiles HTC has the bands for ATT so it will work great
I love my HTC One. I've seen my friend's S3's and this is by far a better device. And to me, the S4 is an overhyped S3 . Just saying

I'm leary of that. We all said the same about the Note2 but I can't get my Note 2 to get LTE service on ATT. Before I grab a TMo One, I'd like to see posts confirming it works out of the box.
Thanks.

I have my Tmobile HTC One on At&t LTE right now and I have done a speed test reaching 35mbps. You do have to make sure your account has had a prior LTE device on the account or the device might only get 3G speeds. I told the phone rep to put my wife's unused HTC One X on my line and gave them the IMEI of that phone. The reason for this is because At&t does not have the Tmobile models in their database, so the only thing they can do is link your One to your line as a generic 3G device.

Ah, that's good advice, and may explain my inability to get LTE on my Note 2. I've never owned an AT&T LTE phone, and never will. I guess picking up a TMo One with intention to unlock and use on AT&T is not going to work for me.

Your tip worked on my Note 2. Once I got ahold of an LTE devices IMEI to give the AT&T rep, they were able to provision my account for LTE and now no issues.
I just picked up a T-Mobile HT One to do the same thing with (I have accounts on TMo and ATT), but the sim unlocking service I usually use is having troubles giving me an unlock code. Weird.

You're gonna need the correct ATT LTE Apn...this is the one I used to use on ATT when I was with them. Data and MMS working.
Same situation here: I bought a T-Mobile HTC one, unlocked it, took it to AT&T, and after a lot of wrestling with them got AT&T LTE and HSPA+ both working (you will need to make sure: your AT&T account is provisioned so your data plan is LTE-capable; you have an LTE-capable SIM card; you have endless patience to push AT&T to give you a 'dummy' IMEI in their database of an LTE-capable phone).
Here's my issue, though: it runs hot whenever the wifi OR the data are on. I'm wondering if it's because I'm running the T-Mobile radio (4A.14.3250.15_10.34.1150.02L) on AT&T's network.
I've been told Android phones "just run hot," or that heat is a product of a rogue application (so far, nothing seems to be running when it shouldn't). I am new to the forums so I can't post over in the development area yet.
Anyone have any thoughts on whether trying a different radio would address the heat issues? Any other heat-diagnosing tips?
Thanks in advance!

I can tell you why I am looking to go to ATT its because T-Mobiles coverage sucks. I have constant issues with their network.
Also when you think about it why would you offer a connection over wifi, shouldn't their phone work.
I bought a prepaid card just to test but I didn't connect to their LTE but I think its because they haven't provisioned it properly.
Time to go back again. I think I want to keep the HTC one because its a good phone can't see getting the S4.
Now att has next but still has the rate plans up there. I like t-mobiles pricing but ATT service is much better.
Find a nice AT&T Salesperson
I used to work at AT&T and i've just used a generic IMEI to provision LTE on a non AT&T phone. If you find a nice salesperson to help you they'll be able to look up a generic IMEI in the systaem for you. Its an internal tool they have to look up an IMEI for you. Hope this helps.

[Q]OOC Verizon S4 on Tmobile?

I've done some research on the topic but am having a hard time finding a definative answer on the topic.
I bought my phone thru Verizon (paid in full) intially to ensure I would keep my unlimited data plan. Since this purchase I've discovered that T-Mobile has s $30/mo plan that fits my lifestyle just fine. My intent is to sell my plan (craigslist/ebay/etc) to get out of our contract and make some $$$ on the side.
When I bought this phone 1 of the major draws I saw was that, even though it's a Verizon phone, it wasGSM compatible. I've read plenty of posts about users throwing in a ATT sim card and being good to go. On the tmobile side of things, the results aren't as clear.
So.... Long story short, I'm looking for a definative answer if the Verizon GS4 will fully work on T-Mobile's GSM network and if so, where might one find some guidance on what I need to do if there are any necessary steps involved.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Plain and simple... No, the Verizon GS4 will not work on Tmobile. Verizon is cdma and tmobile is gsm. It will not work

These questions are tricky. Work!? You have to define that word before you get your answer. Voice works and so as data IF you add APN manually (or if it comes automatically from T-Mo). Now by data you mean 2G(EDGE)? 3G(HSPA)? 4G(LTE)? It also depends on whether you are in an area where T-Mo has re-farmed 1900 HSPA. If you are in one of these areas then you got 3G for data. If not, 2G for you. No 4G anywhere for this phone on T-Mo.

Yes, it is %100 possible. It's involved...to the extent that it might not be for those who aren't willing to turn their phone into a PDA.
In this post I explain (condescendingly, because some guy was so sure it wasn't possible) that phones nowadays are capable of multiband...because it's just not cost effective for manufacturers to produce one phone for CDMA, then one for GSM, one for LTE, one for AWS bands, etc etc...you get the picture. If you look up the specs of the chips in the S4 (probably the same across the carriers) you'll see that it's a pentaband phone.
Short story long...I come from a time where there wasn't a "It's not possible"...my job bought me a VZ S4 which I plan on using with my Tmobile simcard...because I don't feel like carrying a Nexus 4 AND an S4...I'll post my progress in the forums for all to benefit from. Until then...
I only tested it for a few minutes.... but I did get lte on it but not sure about aws... on T-Mobile. Sorry I couldn't do a more extensive experiment.

Yes it is possible. And it is actually not that much work.
#1 be rooted
#2 put in tmobile sim and restart phone (cant change apn with vzw sim)
#3 change the apn settings for voice and data to t mobile (google it)
I have been using a verizon i545 S4 on tmobile for 3 weeks now. I have voice text and 4g h+ data.
The S4 is global, even if verizon tries to lock it down.

how are you getting 4g? I'm only getting 2g ;-; i'v ebeen asking everywhere but everybody seems to think it cant be done i guess? I just get ignored by the usually helpful community.
I am also on hyperdrive, have you looked at their coverage map? And what apn are you using tmobile has 3. Standard phones, smart phones, and I believe one for hipsters aka apple? The proper apn starts with fast. (Its 645 in the morning google it yourself)
Another thing to consider, you might be getting 4g or h what ever, t mobile is half as fast as verizon. I had to use xposed framework to turn on the proper icons.
The steps I posted are all I did, other than being on hyperdrivre rom. Try setting to gsm as your preffered network?
Im sorry people have ignored this and claim its impossible, the tmobile guy in store actually got his manager to come use my phone after I got it working in front of him in store. The store manager told the employee I must be some super hacker and this isnt possible for normal people. All i did was imout the apn and the sim nothing crazy.

CONS for T-Mobile users! And these are Deal Breakers for me.
* 4G LTE is ultra SLOW! While the symbol shows 4G LTE, the speed is just good 3G speeds. My max was 5 to 6 Mbps down and about the same up. Compared to my S2 and S3 on the exact same spot on my desk, get 15-20 Mbps on the S2 and 25-30+ Mbps on my S3!
* Hotspot feature will NOT work on T-Mobile. This has been confirmed by me calling AT&T, T-Mobile, and Samsung support lines. If you need your T-Mobile hotspot service, then this phone is a no go. (NOTE: the XDA forum and other sites have a hack that requires you to root the phone and then do multiple steps each time you want to enable the hotspot, this is a deal breaker for me

I put my T-mobile nano sim in. The phone call work. At first my data (saw 4G LTE) work. Now it doesnt work anymore. I try to access webpage and it say no data service. I have it on data roaming and it say T-mobile. What other settings to modify and verify?
Thanks!
Edit - Got it working after following a APN setting from my real Tmo phone and just type everything in this phone and now I get data. I am getting 4G LTE icon.

Question AT&T phone calls

I have At&t and just got the Oppo Find N, chinese version. When i got to make a phone call, it pauses and sometimes doesnt seem to even connect before the call goes through. Data and texts seem to work fine with no hesitation. Anyone else having this problem or any advice? Thanks!
I had the same thin happen while in the office at home is working well.. not sure will test again tomorrow.. are you still having the issue ?
Sorry lads, i was on the same boat as you just a few days ago. My Find N also stopped making and receiving phone calls. Turns out AT&T shut down its 3G services hence you're unable to make phone calls. You'll need to switch to Tmobile if you want to continue using the phone. Tmobile is retiring 3G in July but I believe it handles phones differently than AT&T so we'll still be able to use it after July.
Not sure if that is the case I am on ATT and my Oppo N is on 4G able to make calls…
and might have spoken to soon.. unable to make calls any more.. The weird part is that SMS and 4G internet works..

It is pretty much the case. If youre able to make phone calls currently, it means ATT hasn't shut down the 3G towers in your area. They have plans to complete shutdown by Feb

Right..... You didn't speak too soon. The towers in your area were just shut down. You'll have to switch to Tmobile now.
Since folks here are talking about T-mobile, I have a question.
Does 5G work with it on T-mobile (I'm in the US)?
I saw that it supports n41 which is one of the band supported by T-mobile. But just wanna double-check.

I'm on T-Mobile, and have not had working 5G.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work somewhere... But not here in LA.

I guess 4G LTE speed wasn't too bad?
I've been on both and honestly my 5G UC indicator shows up but the speed difference is not perceivable.
Suggest trying to manually change the band preference using a utility such as '5G LTE' by Rudra Green on the play store. This allows lots of different LTE and 5g options to be selected. The only problem is that the setting is lost after the phone is restarted. I have been using this to enable 5g in the UK.
