Overall a good phone with a lil laggy interface and volume of earpiece is too low for outdoor conditions
Also software development is too slow

Hopes Huawei gives the love to the Devs, and the Devs share the love to the KIWI masseS

Try CM13

Yep, in my opinion, this is the best budget phone money can buy (at the moment). Really happy with it.

for other issues i really don't care but till following issues are resolved i don't see myself switching to CM13 as it would be like switiching from one unpolished os to another.
1. camera hangs and sucks batttery like crazy if you do 2 hdr photos.
2. dt2wake doesn't use the proximity sensor to filter bogus d2twake triggers and therefore can turn on too easily in your pocket.
3. fingerprint sensor

CM13 makes the phone light years faster so far with very few bugs for me. The HDR thing is no big deal since the stock OS' HDR function itself is broken and makes photos look like garbage for whatever reason. The fingerprint sensor not being there isn't a HUGE loss for me with smart lock and such being there, certainly not enough to be a dealbreaker considering the improved performance. I haven't really had any issues with double tap to wake myself, but the stock OS implementation is useless anyway since the lock screen shows I think one or maybe two notifications at a time.
This phone went from frustrating side wifi device on EMUI to daily driver and fast, premium feeling phone on CM13 for me so I'd highly recommend for anyone putting up with EMUI to at least give CM13 a try on the device. I can actually multitask now, it's beautiful.

EMUI does suck...Do you guys thing the issues with cm13 will be worked out?
I do like the fingerprint sensor.

Does the honor 5x support Google cardboard
I know for fact the the phone doesn't have a gyroscope sensor..which breaks my heart because I really wanted to get a VR headset.. I heard a rumor saying that the gyroscope sensor is there but it needs and XML file to get activated. Can any one confirm that please? Thank you
The phone is just amazing hope it works with the Google cardboard

Phone is amazing, zero issues, awesome battery life, awesome hardware. <3 phone.

Working great with Nova Launcher. Zippy enough. Getting great battery life so far (>30% after 24 hours).
Edit:
2 weeks later, I'm still loving it. I'm now getting 50-60% battery left after 24 hours. Not bad at all
Having problems with Bluetooth audio connecting to car. Bluetooth phone works fine.

great phone, stupid shortcommings
Hello,
It's a great phone with great battery life.
But very annoying is the lack of USB OTG and that Wifi is not connecting automatically to a known Wifi (home) network.
I have to connect manually from 4G back to Wifi at home...
My firmware is now version KIW-L21 B140.
I hope that a Honor Android 6 update will solve these!
Do CyanogenMod 13 or other ROM's have these issues?
Rgds,
Ivy

Thanks for sharing the love!

Hello mohamedkhafaja,
You're correct the Honor 5X doesn't have a gyroscope sensor. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm that there is an XML file out there to get it activated since that would have to be through a third party.
In regards to your positive comment, we're happy to hear you're happy with the 5X. (ED)

Your very welcome, the hardware team deserves every ounce of appreciation because this device is first class and they were able to do it while keeping the price down. Simply amazing. I appreciate you Eric for being appreciative, very respectable for Huawei developers/reps to post on the forums with us peons. The software team on the other hand... I can only speak for the Lollipop implementation. They deserve some amount of appreciation for the device not having any visible errors. Very respectable for them to upgrade the OS to marshmellow. Much appreciated. There are some things I don't agree with.

The phone is non doubt the best, and when you have a product that is the best you want to put the best in it, which is good. We all appreciate the hard work that is put forth to bring that together. I appreciate you listening to the customer. Brining marshmellow to this device will be that much better.

Totally. The good thing is that a port will be a lot easier since all of the component's are the same, save for the camera. But it still has the OIS.
8mp, 2300 mah.... move along, nothing to see here
Hopefully it speeds up development... I was expecting a few ROMs to be out already, even at this stage.

Few roms would be nice IF they all had different features to add. Right now we have multiple roms that are very similar... I hope to see a lot of built in mods/xposed framework
Our big problem is the following:
The Nexus 5 will have normal volume/power keys (i.e at the side of the device). I'm pretty certain that because of this, it will have no Knock-ON feature.
Even if it will be easy to port the Nexus 5 Kitkat stock ROM to the LG G2, I don't think any G2 owner here will trade the Knock-ON feature for KitKat.

KnockON is great, but it isn't really anything revolutionary. I love the feature, especially with the back buttons, but I also had similar functionality back with my GNex. I believe the modification is in the kernel, so I don't really see a reason that we won't be able to have it on AOSP roms. Am I missing something?
Knock knock will not be a feature of Nexus 5 irrespective of the placement of volume keys.

Whoa whoa whoa. I wouldn't say trade people wouldn't want to trade the Knock-On feature for KitKat. We don't know what kind of features will be in KitKat. Who knows there could be something really cool.
I think what you were trying to say is does any G2 owner willing to trade their G2 for a Nexus 5 just to get KitKat early in November. I think the answer is NO but we all still want the KnockOn feature with KitKat ideally and it should come in early 2014.

Depends on what 4.4 has to offer, it may be minor update for all we know. Plus we can flash back and forth between the two roms all day long.... also how long will it take for another dev to make a similar feature? If not we will have to see what 4.4 has to offer

No matter what KitKat has to offer, Knock-ON is a necessity for many of us. For example, how will you turn the device ON when situated in the car holder, or while you run and it's in an arm-band, or even if it's just on the desk ?
The G2 without the Knock-ON feature becomes a severely crippled device.

First off it may bother some but I could live without... plus you can always use apps like:

to do the same just enable the "doubletap2wake"

My point was, that if you want KitKat ASAP with your G2, your best bet would be a Nexus 5 ported ROM. But, by going this route, I predict you'll lose Knock-On.

That's very interesting. If this solution is as battery efficient as Knock-ON (or better), then this is an excellent alternative.

I don't understand what the big deal is about knock on... I remember when I had my gnex someone here on the xda forums developed an app that could use gestures with the screen off to wake or to open certain apps... Just check out the "tap tap app" in the market... Surely one of our devs could incorporate this into a rom?

I just tried the "tap tap app" on an older phone and it doesn't work out as nice as Knock On. It doesn't seem to turn off or on the phone with two taps like I expect it would. I would strongly not recommend the "tap tap app" be baked into the ROM. It is not stable enough.
I am certain that the Knock-On feature is a *hardware* feature and not a simple software feature. Of course it can be implemented in software, but at the expense of significantly increased battery usage (the capacitive touchscreen must stay on). It's kind of like implementing active (on-screen) notifications in software, versus optimizing the hardware for it (like it is in the Moto X). Battery life would drop significantly in a software-only solution.

[Q] Phone Count

This thread is simply to count the people who have the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 so the dev's will realize how popular (or unpopular) the device is. I've had the HAM 2 since it came out and have been waiting for rooting methods to come out, but I can't find ANY info on it.
I came from the OnePlus forums, and just recently made my account here so don't hate if I did something wrong, just let me know.
Got one as well....i really like this phone but i'm waiting for that kit kat hopefully
Had mine about 4 weeks now
You can have my HAM2, when you pry it from my cold dead fingers!
I love this thing!
Mine 3 days old
Still on the first charge lol. My iPhone 5s has only -4hrs screen time, the HAM2 is a beast.
It is not all about processor as long as it has no lag one bit and not one app crashed on mine.
For $299 and get $30 T mobile unlimited all prepaid plan, I just wish I can cancel my grandfathered unlimited plan on at&t. Never turn my wifi ON and every month Minimum of 20gb data
I just don't know yet how to mirror my netflix on HAM2 to my chromecast?

To mirror the entire phone display I'm pretty sure you need to have a separate adapter just for that.
The only way to cast a chrome tab (from a phone) is to enable a setting only available in KitKat. Just another reason to find a Root+ROM.

Hello all,
I think we may need a bounty to get root! We've already started thinking about it in the old P6/Mate 1 thread. Anyone else in?!
Yessir
I registered just to voice my support for this phone. And I use the case that came with my preorder though I do have the black back.
Another owner here. I absolutely love my ham2. I'd put something down on a bounty if that happened.
Got one

Root plz. I really miss screencasting.
I have had this phone since it launched in the US. I love it, but I wish that it could be rooted.
It could be rooted, it just seems that we need to pitch in for a bounty so that a developer could do it for us.
There doesn't seem to be any developers on our phone, and none of the existing root methods for any other phone exists.
Got one when released in the US.

MT2L03 CyanogenMod Support

Well, on the heals of the announcement that our excellent device is now DOA due to lack of manufacturer support (ugh, AND I JUST BOUGHT THIS THING 3 WEEKS AGO!!!!!) I have decided to start a device request over with the CM team...
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/101462-huawei-ascend-mate-2-mt2l03-device-request/
We have the same SoC as the HTC Desire 816 - not apples to apples but atleast there should be some commonality for certain areas - so hoping we can get something started. Please light up the device request so we can try to get some buzz.

Where did you see that Huawei announced there will be no device support for our US model? If this is the case I will get rid of mine today.
They confirmed no KK, see thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-mate2/general/confirmed-kitkat-t2921399
And even their US offices aren't being given any info about any other updates, i.e. Lollipop. :crying:

I'm not against custom ROMs obviously, but I hope you realize they don't care about device requests. The only way we'll get one is if some random nice developer (like Modding) comes along and decides to help.
We'll just have to wait and see (...again) what those developers that got a free Bait2 at BABBQ are going to do. That is, if they're going to do anything.

We're on the list, so we should be up soon. I expect it will be next week before we hear anything ??? friggin Motorola.
I just went the nuclear route and unpaired and repaired; no update.

I'm not sure why they did it this way but... there are some issues and perhaps since we have the better watch they are making sure we are covered and have minimal issues.
And to add insult to injury another 2.0 thread has been started in the General area. Is there a way to roll back if we hate it?

What I assume happened is that they began working on the update (most likely building in hopes that it would need only slight tweaking for the sport), and towards the end of it's release, they realized that the sport has some different watch faces(I mean if they're gonna take this long to roll out anyway it's not as far fetched to assume the forgot something like this). So they are (most likely) currently building for the sports differences. Another theory I had was that perhaps it is a build for both devices, and the sport users ( perhaps bc we are the minority in the Moto 360 clan) that use this site simply have not received it yet; that's assuming it's a controlled rollout, of course.
Since the Sport has a GPS, probably needs more fine tunning than the 360 2nd gen, but I also think that's a matter of days to get it too, probably next week.

Dang. Well, they have today, tomorrow, and the next day to release it, or they be late. Not as if they care though ??
Oh yeah I forgot about the deadline. Well we shall see. I thought I was in a rush but after seeing some of the issues not so much anymore. But of course I'll install it immediately.

Same. I bought mine only about a month and a half ago, so I think the battery problems won't be as bad on me
Hey guys... any news? Moto_Support keep replying me the same when I ask...
"We don't provide release dates, but we're working to roll it out to all eligible devices globally as quickly as possible."
I was expecting to get it with 360 2nd. gen users, but still nothing

No release date has been set yet. Some are saying be careful what you wish for since there is no way to roll back. I think more people regret the upgrade than are thrilled at this point.

Well I know that im looking forward to this greatly; between being able to respond with voice(a feature I never could get to work well(??I think Motorola's speakers and microphones sick in general)) and Google assistant, there are a lot of features that I really want that Trump any complaints there might be. If batteries are such an issue, I have a 2nd charger I impulse bought; I don't mind charging it for about 45 minutes( heck that's a little over 50% from my experience). I think these features make Android Wear a decent competitor. Bc rn tizen is kicking AW's butt.

I know it's not everyone that is complaining, just that some of the things that were touted are not working correctly. For one, notifications are problematic and they can't figure out how to get them to show like they did on 1.5. I believe that GA is also not working correctly and if not running (huge battery drain) will not function. No time in dock mode, no double tap to enter theater mode, turning off at 45% or so.. But I think these things are not universal, however enough that they are being reported to the chagrin of users. But I'll probably install it if it ever comes after I see what you report.

I think that some of those issues probably originate from the age of their devices. There's probably were bought close to their release, and I bought mine close to 2 months ago. But I'm installing as soon as I can and I'll post my experiences
Guess Motorola doesn't really care about deadlines...

Edit.. I'm thinking now of refusing the update and selling this Sport with 1.5 for double what I bought it for since 2.0 is such a bust. Just kidding naturally but without a way to downgrade perhaps not so far off. On the Moto forum the mod removed a link to downgrade. He's a jerk though. Any links for a downgrade? I couldn't find it on first look.

Screen bleed?

Just setup my phone and it appears that there maybe screen bleed on either side of the display. It's really noticeable, especially on the home screen either side of the Google search bar and also any icons on the outer edge of the display.
If you grab an icon and drag it up and down the side of the display, you can see a small line of light from the icon on the outer edge of the display where it joins the aluminium frame.
Me and my bro both got the same model and same colour (S9+ coral blue, uk) and it's the same on both.
Just wondering whether it maybe the releftion from the frame as it protrudes more than the S8+ I'm using now. Also the finish of the fame is a different colour and finish.
Anybody else noticed this at all?
Well seen as how no body has replied thought I'd show a video.

Cheers for the info. In the process of getting it swapped out now. Hopefully the next one won't be the same.
I'll be on the lookout when mine arrives. I agree that it does not look normal.
Not gonna lie. That's about the worse video to show a problem lol if it's an issue just return it. Bound to be some bad ones out there.

Clearly showed the issue for me. I've had that same issue with other Galaxy phones. My note 7 was really bad! It's more than a case of, "just a few bad ones" I'm sure there would be many more complaints of this issue if people knew what to look for.

It's easy to see what the issue is. So regardless of the video not being a cinema experience, it clearly demonstrates the problem with the light bleed.
Having a look around seems that the issue has been seen on S8, S8+ and the note 8. There are other videos of the issue on YouTube just not with the S9+
Crap, I have the same problem.
Edit:
I did some digging and found out that this is not an issue. This is only reflection.
I installed Check My Pixels 2 and noticed that the "light leak" was reflecting the same color from the app.

Nothing is wrong with the video and this issue is more than just a few bad ones. It's been on all their phones work curved screens. I don't understand why you are putting down the OP'S video and post over a real concern. More people need to be aware of it. I bet it's more widespread than you realize. People just don't know what to look for or never notice it. You set a great example for being a senior member in xda

Sorry my bad, the reply wasn't aimed at you. I appreciate your comments.
I agree with your comments especially in regards to not knowing what to look for. My brother didn't even notice it until I shown him.
I've read about it being the way the light reflects with the curved display, I have my S8+ now an it doesn't have the same
Issue. It's really distracting once you notice it especially if your in a dim lit environment.

Most people just throw a case on and that'll block the screen bleed. So, there's your can't see it and will never notice it. Look at the pic I posted. That's acceptable for a $900 plus phone? You can be a so called funny guy all you want. I don't care any further to look at or respond to your ignorance. If the glass and frame have the slightest gap you can see the light bleed through the sides. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5zg1zqqkb0ry9cm/IMG_20160820_051305.jpg?dl=0

AMOLED can't have light bleed. Light bleed is the backlight of an LED or LCD screen shinning through. Normally thru the sides or corners. What your seeing is the same thing you would see if you take any phone and tilt it to the same angle as the edge displays. Your seeing the glass and reflection in that glass at a different wave length I find it funny that your calling me ignorant while trying to argue an issue that the phone can't have. A simple Google could have saved you that trouble.
