videos are ok in good light condition.
wereas its worst in low light condition

Good for the price

Could have been better, but considering the price its better

Video quality is good. Can be even improved using other 3rd party apps.

Pretty nice bit rate for a phone this much cheap. Although, it should have least come with software stabilizer.

Video quality is good. Up to par with most phones.

Not bad at all

Could someone post a picture with the camera zoomed in on something? I have the nexus 6p and would like to see what a zoomed in photo looks like.
Thanks

zoom focus is appalling in function. hardware probably all good enough and purely poor software !
Lack of updates addressing this is my biggest annoyance with Huawei. They happy ignore it and just spend the resources on pushing next device .
Low light photos are bad as well
I would cut them some slack on low level shots but good light and poor focus response is ridiculous, should of been resolved in updates but no .
rip their updates
13 mp shooter really does its job,
Love the front cam
Photo quality is really superb.
The quality is decent, all things considered. However I've been having a lot of problems with the focus. It regularly drifts completely out of focus and then slowly (over the next 30 seconds to a minute) drifts back. Tapping to focus does nothing in this case. It's really irritating when I'm shooting video. I don't know if it's a hardware or software problem, but I suspect the AF unit is on the fritz.
How can I improve a better quality on photos, I see that photo is really bad on ambiental light

Ambiental = lowlight? in low light scenes is big improvment to have fixed phone, put your hands on something stable, or leave phone recumbent on beer bottle

I had this problem with my Oneplus One a while back. All my low-light photos had terrible color and noise. However it was fixed when I flashed a rom with a custom camera hal (color os hal to be specific) and it was a night and day difference. Colors were spot-on, noise was almost completely gone in low-light. The camera app itself also seems to have a big role in picture quality. If it wasn't for the oneplus one having the same camera hardware as China's oppofind7 phone (which runs color os), the corporation wouldn't have made an effort to create the color os camera hal. So its kind of a unique situation I guess.

I did a few sample videos with the different quality settings and WOAH!!! Especially the videos at 60fps with adequate light from a lamp. When a lot of light it's even smoother when I figured it could not be smoother. Nothing like it. Heck, video of hands looks better than real life and you could see every piece of detail in the skin easily. But I am a photographer so am good with taking photos and have very still hands, so others experience might be a bit different from mine.
Looked great in a well-lit environment as stated above. Had a lot of noise in a darker environment, but not so much as to render it unusable. Someone that does a better job of holding the camera steady and framing the video might have a better result though.
Anyone tried the audio/video quality in loud environments such as discos, festivals , concerts ...?
Very interesting in this feature .
Thanks in advance

Here is a link to a song I recorded at a Ghost/Iron Maiden song. I forgot to put it on concert mode and left it on normal . Here is a link to a video I recorded later in the show as well, still processing so I don't think YouTube will have it in HAD for a while .

Here is the night video, I think I remembered to switch to 4k.
Very poor audio quality

good video
Is it just me or is the video quality really bad? Full HD videos are not sharp/crisp at all and there's a slight painted/blurry look to frames, even in moderately good sunny conditions.
This is more apparent with the wide angle lens but the normal lens has this too. I tried shooting with the GCam app and the normal lens video is worse than the stock app. Video Stabilisation is on. 4k videos are pretty sharp but Full HD is my preferred choice.
Anyone know any settings that could be changed to fix this?
Ok guys, this is my try. First and last part of video is recorded with LG G6, 1080p 60fps on DJI Osmo Mobile. It's not bad at all. Sharpness and crispness is better on 1080p 30fps but I needed slowmo. In manual mode you have much more control but it's OK even in auto mode. What do You think?

Fun Tip - Add motion blur to the parts where you increased the footage speed to sync up with the music. Will literally make it look 2x better.

Thanks for the tip Gagan. This is my first video in Premiere, after only 30min of tutorials. I'll try that in my next video. Cheers.
Reading posts i must ask, am i the only one who thinks that the quality of video taken with lg g6 camera is terrible and unacceptable, 1080p looks like upscale from 480p and is very overprocessed? i wrote about it to lg and they replied that everything is fine, can't believe it! 1080p video from my old lg g3 was great, g6 sucks more then anything that has ever suck before. is there any way to change it and turn current '1080p' on g6 into real 1080p?

Managed to review the video I took over the weekend. It's decent, but was a bit shaky. Then I realised, Stabilisation wasn't turned on by default. On video audio, I noticed the subject which was standing in front (giving a talk), audio captured was soft. I guess there is no mic point forward? But the sound from the sides... They were very loud.
The talk was at an open area in the park. I could hear dogs barking and crows... But the speaker's voice was very soft though.
Hi, i have Honor 8 pro since 2 weeks, i have one doubt, whether the 4K video recording has EIS or not? if not will the future update will get?

Is there someone that can show me the difference between the gcam and the stock video with the essential phone? I am interested in one and I am debating on whether or not I should get one
The video quality is good but not great compared to mainstream phones. Stabilization is terrible and not many camera or video features to play with. The only distinctive feature this phone have over all the other phone is the optional 360° degree camera which is super fun and it gets a lot of praises from my friends and family.
Stabilization isn't as bad as I expected. Builtin google edit stabilization is a necessity and much appreciated.
6 minutes of rain in 4K. Shot on Essential. Google Chrome will play the video in 4K.

Guys, could you please comment on audio quality on videos made with this device. On few video reviews people mentioned that sound is kind of choppy or glitchy. Looks like noise reduction isn't utilized, when Mi A1 shoots video. As workaround they mention that it can be solved by shooting video by a 3rd party app (FV-5).
I'm thinking to buy this device, but this bug is holding me from it.

Yes it is
Take a look here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8qgfwQwRbI
Then see this example too - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-ncyEPZIds
For me, video seems way more pixelated than it should be when zooming, even in 4K. 4x zoom should be 1080p and it doesn't look like it is, and I can't see an option to use the zoom lens either. And 4K isn't selected by default.
Considering the lack of EIS and OIS it's not good, but not really bad. Avoid shooting videos in low light - they will be awful and they will have a lot of frames dropped.
Without any kind of EIS or OIS, MiA1 is not ideal for video recording.

I tried using the GCam HDR+ with its EIS and to be honest.. I have to really hold the phone as steady as possible and also in walking slowly, the end result is a bit much better than using the camera app by xiaomi..
the quality overall improved a lot, but for usable footage I guess a dedicated gimbal is needed
Pixelation is algo a problem for me. I think that the video is a little bit dark too.
Even using the Google Camera, it's something better but it's not good for me. At least the EIS helps to stabilize the video but the quality is far from good.

Man, I think the same thing. It's very weird to see the video so pixelated even using Google Camera. Sometimes it really looks like a low resolution video upscaled to a more resolution.
