Remix 2.0.202 version out? - Remix OS for PC

Hi, is the remix os for pc 2.0.202 release out? there's a release note on http://support.jide.com/hc/en-us website. but OTA update doesn't say so and download page isn't updated either.

Enable test builds in settings.

Its not out yet, probably getting it ready for release soon i hope, and hopefully we have audio this time around!

enable latest update in setting/about page and tap 5 time "Remix OS version" to show aditional update call "unstable update"(well its stable enough for me"
and the new update has new feauture, it has pre-rooted native apps in it ( no need to install superuser or any other root apps anymore)
just do install remix os beta update to latest 2.0.202 and replace init.img file with one that have R/W in system, cause original init.img file still only has R/O system
note : backup ur original init file for next update, cause OTA update without original init file will fail..

Ok, I was able to download the update this morning! Not sure what was added or fixed but i was sad to see audio is still not working

this remix os never worked on my computer, the installation never finish successfully . I wonder if it's a matter of driver, like my asus essence stx sound card.

Go to Setting then "About" and tap "Remix OS version" 5 times to show (unstable update). Then go back to Settings click on "Update", click on the 3 little dots (options), click "System update version options", then select "Unstable version", and go back to "Update" and it will be there.

I downloaded and placed the initrd.img into the Remix OS folder, but when any app asks for root it fails with message "libc.so is 32 bit"
Anyone know what's going on? I installed 64 bit version.

My init.img file was by default R/W... Tried a few apps that said i do not have root access and or missing superuser... Downloaded a build.prop editor to fix opengl settings and they wont stick...
Any help would be appreciated, im trying to get gameloft games to stop force closing on startup per https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/remix-os-for-pc/-UZXopMPj6o
*note my opengl settings were by default already set to "131072" but this is not working for gameloft games.

What actually opengl es version is supported by ur GPU driver in remix os , u can find it in setting/about page at the bottom, try change the value with proper version reported

Code:

You can use that to mount system.img or data.img under windows to a virtual drive

The 202 update shows in the update box as being downloaded. I am then given the option to reboot and install, but when I do, nothing changes. Does my installation have to be rooted first? I have Remix installed on the hard drive (SSD) of my Acer Timeline 1810TZ.

I have a similar problem. I'm running 2.0.102 as the only OS on an Acer touch-screen laptop that is booting from a 64GB SSD. Everything is working fine.
However, the Update window shows that Remix OS 2.0.202 B2016040501 has been downloaded.
When I click the "Reboot and Install button", the machine verifies the OTA package and reboots.
Problem is: the OS hasn't been updated at all and I'm still in 2.0.102, even though "Options / Automatically install updates" is turned on.
A step-by-step guide on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Its an error in the script. I get the same eroor, but it's because I installed as ext4 to it's own partition using the Android x86 installer.
The update package is looking for system.img, and if it doesn't find it, it will throw a status 7 error. My system is installed as writeable to sda3, along with /data.
I'd love to figure this out, not only for me but others as well.

Are you by chance rooted? If you are the update will fail. The script gives an error message do you remember what it was? Also what kind of set up do you have USB, hard disk, etc.
well the ota's have sha1 checks and cannot be used if /system is installed R/W
That really doesn't make much sense since the update doesn't work on either my hdd installed version (ext4) OR the version I have on the USB flash drive (FAT32 system.img).
Error is similar to what you would get from an open installer script (Status 7).
Hello I just updated my system to 202 version using the ota update and after the actual update I had a reboot then I'm stuck in the [email protected]_x86_64 line...

Not a bad idea, I need to hit the hay at the moment because I am leaving for a work trip early am. So go for it bud! Just make sure to be super detailed[emoji14]
Also please note, I tried using the ota to update to a test release a few days ago... Same issue then. I chalked that up to it being a test release... But if I recall build dates and version numbers correctly, this stable release is the same release as my failed "test" build.

I had the same issue. I got it booting by adding nouveau.modeset=0 i915.modeset=1 to the menu.lst file in remixos installation folder. However the laptop seems to run hotter than the older version. Also I notice chrome cannot be resized to be less than half screen horizontally and the amazon appstore your apps>cloud does not work properly so I can't download apps i had previously gotten from them.
I have exactly the same problem. Is there a way to update or to prepare the system from the Terminal ?
Because i have only the remix OS on my Laptop
Update of Remix OS which has been installed using the Android x86 installer
If you have a Remix OS system which was set up with the Android x86 installer in an ext4 file system looking like this:
http://postimage.org/index.php?lang=german,
an OTA update is not possible (creating the message "update failed").
There is a workaround, if you create an USB flash drive containing the current version: The android directory must have the name of the current version, and all system files (i.e. all directories and files other than data) have to be deleted. A new Android x86 installation without formatting the ext4 partition will create updated system files and preserve the data directory (just updating it).

NEWS! Keymapping for Games is coming to RemixOs..

Yeah,you heard it right!
The long awaited feature, ability to map keys for games that are originally developed for touchscreen enabled devices are coming to RemixOs.
The chinese version of RemixOs has a new version (2.0.401) dated 27th June 2016,which claims to support keymapping.
You can check the changelog at https://bbs.jide.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=7351
I wanted to give it a try.but the download was stucked due to the low bandwith offered by server, unfortunately.
If you are brave enough to take a early look,or can't wait for the global release. here are the download links.

Code: gbku
2) https://yunpan.cn/OcRUtwhPNKenuX

There're few bugs that stop Android-x86 6.0 from daily use. For example,Google play services always crash on Intel Gen8+ GPUs,which is not fixed yet.
But the devs at Jide are actively contributing to Android-x86 6.0 and you'll be able to see the results in near future. For instance, the issue of Time being reset in Windows is fixed
in the latest commit, Check the marshmallow-x86 branch at https://github.com/android-x86-mirror
Hmm...seems like a solid release. I will wait for the official announcement and update though. If it fixes my nvidia/wifi/sound issues I might actually start using this

I think there is no remix os 3.0 for PC(x86) :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
I downloaded and installed it. My impression :
1 Locked DOWN, no more root command line
2 No Play Store option
3 Does include keymapping
4 Stock file manager can no longer read the partition on which Remix OS is installed
5 Maybe a little more quick because of changes to disk partition access
This may be because it is currently for Chinese users, hopefully there will be more flexibility with the release
EDIT 2016/07/01: After solving problems of getting into root command line, was able to deactivate jide app policy and then went on to install nova launcher, etc. Then using help from @HypoTurtle I was able to do systemless root. Everything now operating well. I will continue testing this 2.0.401 over the next few days for stability.
Summary:
1 No longer locked down
2 Play Store is activated
3 keymapping confirmed
4 Solid Explorer can read all disk partitions by using Stickmount
5 So far seems quicker than 2.0.205

The OTA update looks for file images that are created by the Jide installer, if u , like in my case having remixOS on an ext4, with system and data as folders, rather than data.img and system.sfs, ur system wont updateOTA, and anyway the ramdisk.img is located in different place if installed with jide installer from windows than installed to ext4 partition using other methods as "INSTALL=1" at the command!
i updated by pulling the intire image from jide website!

The official installer doesn't install into an Android folder; so I don't think you installed correctly.
However if you find your grub.cfg [or menu.lst] and change it to --set--root /Android/kernel you should be fine.
If you can't find the grub/menu.lst then add a file called system.img to the Android folder [copying and renaming the initrd.img is probably the simplest way to do it]
@percynguyen92 are you sure u used the official installer? Did you install Remix OS before with unofficial methods?

I downloaded from jide.com. i have checked md5sum. I searched many files with "Android" word including grub.cfg and menu.lst. Coundn't find any. My remix os use system.sfs, not system.img, what can i do?
@Vioner i have installed alpha version before with easybcd

Ah with legacy/bios it's menu.lst - not sure how to get to that. I do think you are loading the grub you used previously with easybcd rather than the one instaaled with the jide tool. So ideally boot to your bios and see is there a different boot entry you can launch. Alternatively as said before add a blank/garbage file called system.img into that folder - grub just wants to find it; it will actually use the system.sfs to run Remix [or you can press e on every boot and change system.img to system.sfs]
@percynguyen92 like HypoTurtle said - your PC instead of trying to start current Remix, starts alpha because of the old bootloader files /boot entries. It's probably just the old menu.lst file.
I don't know much about legacy booting, but you should be able to fix this with EasyBCD or by accessing the bootloader files and wiping the alpha version files.

I also had this issue, once I tried to install Android x86 on my PC and I think it fu*ked something in boot...
Today I fixed it finally....
With this command:
Code:
bootsect /nt60 SYS /mbr
I'm not sure if it will work when Windows is booted, but I've used Windows install disc, booted it, and somewhere in repair PC is also command option....

I'm also not a IT pro, Google search is my friend
Here is a step by step guide
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/repair-master-boot-record-mbr-windows
But in step 4, do not type those 4 commands (bootrec ....). but type command from my previous post, wait until it is done, close command window and reboot....

You should also be able to restore the bcd [like what this does] with EasyBCD itself.
