Had anyone tried this on their S7? How long does charging time take?

Since this charger only draws 2 A at 5 V, it must be substantially slower than a wired connection, since quickcharge supports up to 3 A. Does any company make a wireless charger that operates at a higher power level for faster charging?

Hi yes it is slower than the wired charger and unfortunately no company makes one that is faster than or even equal to the fast wired charger as the technology isn't there yet, hope this helps

I did some further digging. The Qi standard supports up to 15 W and supposedly the S7 is able to accept 15 W. A few companies have announced 15 W chargers and some are already shipping.

From what I can tell the way this works is there are two coils in the base and two in the phone, 5w each. I have seen a few 3 coil on Amazon and Ebay but I don't know if the phone can actually use it, seems like it would need 3 coils.

I am pretty sure the phone can't use 3 coils, more than one coil is used in chargers to gain a greater sweet spot to charge on.

Sadly, from what I noticed, it takes a while to fully charge. USB is for sure a whole lot faster than using this, but I like it because my phone is just flat on it, don't have to worry about dropping the phone and it bending the USB connection inside the phone.

I noticed again that the charger will draw either 2 A at 5 V or 1.67 A at 9 V. The latter is a quickcharge voltage. Did you try it using a 9 V charger? Maybe it does support 15 W wireless charging.

Want to charge fast? Use the included charger!

The charger looks identical to the one provided with the S4 and Note II, it's 2A after all.
However it isn't! Galaxy Charge Current Lite (in the play store) shows 1200mA when plugged into this charger.
However the charger included with the Note 3 will show 1800mA.
The difference is the output voltage. The Note 3 charger is 5.3V whereas all the others are 5.0. This slightly higher voltage can allow the phone to charge at the higher current even if your cable has a bit of voltage drop. I have not tried with other cables however.
The (Note 3) does seem a bit more sensitive to charger type and will drop down to a lower charge current faster, however.
My 10Ah Anker bank will charge at 1200mA, for example. The 2A car charger I have also charges at 1200mA.

I've noticed that the note 3 charges a whole lot slower than the note 2. It actually seems that this phone charges 1/3 slower than the note 2 which makes perfectly good sense to me considering it does charge at 1200 vs 1800. One time when i plugged my phone in while using galaxy charge current pro ( auto refresh checked ) it clearly read that it was charging at 1800. My phone charged really fast. It only happened once though. I've used other chargers with the oem cord and other chargers with other types of usb cords. It doesn't matter what combination I use I still get 1200. Maybe it's something limited at the kernel level....
I saw this strange behavior connected the phone to my pc with the original cable in usb3, 2 times it charged with 1800 but most times is going to 1200 and I haven't understand why this is happening yet.

OK not sure if galaxy charging current lite is reading correctly. I plugged in an old iphone "block" style charger, connected a non USB 3.0 cable and it said 1800mA! It dropped to 1200 when I refreshed it.
Plugged in the included USB 3.0 cable and 5.3V charger and it did the same. So not so sure about this.
However with 5.3V the phone should be less sensitive to cable length. Look out, 10 foot cable here I come!
Ehh not true because on my note 2 it said 1800 with the note 2 charger. It depends how much stuff is plugged into that socket. And to others who say their note 3 charges slower, mine charges faster. If it is plugged in by itself and not have several electronic devices plugged into the wall.

Indeed as what the title suggests. Mine charges from 0 to 100% within 2 hours and 15 minutes (compared to 3 hours on my S3).

Nah because downstairs in my house my note would charge at 1400 with several equipment attached. And upstairs in my room with nothing on a wall socket it was doing 1800.
Downstairs took 3 Hours to charge phone, upstairs took 2 hours and 30 to 45 minutes to charge from 0%.

I have innergie 3A shared USB charger and it charges Note 2 and Note 3 pretty quickly (usually within 2 hours), but I found the phone gets rather warm if I use this charger, so I'd stay same and use a bit lower current.
Kensington Absolute Power can charge Note 3 quickly with 2A out.
Indeed, shorter (with lower voltage drop) and thicker (allows more current) USB cable also helps.

The chargers are SMPS (switching mode power supply) and can provide +5.3V @ 2.0A continuously with an input source between 85V and 250V 50-60Hz. I would not be surprised if you could put 10 car batteries in series for 125VDC and that would work the charger as well. Many SMPS can use DC too. NEVER connect that directly to the phone, you will have explosive charging indeed.
If your line voltage from the wall is dropping below 85V you have a serious issue that should be checked by an electrician! (or have way too many phones charging)
Well it doesn't affect my daily life or other electronics. So I'm good and don't need hire an electrician lol.

Billiy is correct. As an electrical engineer, the only way you would have voltage loss is if your house wiring was incorrectly installed as series. In that case, you have bigger issues than how fast the phone charges. Wired parallel there will be no voltage drop. So there definitely was an outside factor in your results with upstairs vs downstairs.
I used same charger and cable. Look all I'm saying the only benefit of USB 3.0 is if you're using to charge through a laptop or PC through a usb 3.0 port. Because through the charger it's only delivering 2 amps regardless of usb 2 or 3.

This is true, no matter if I use my s2 cable or my n3 cable charge is same. Only reason for usb3 is faster file transfers.
Guys I noticed something, we all see sometimes phone charges at 1200 and sometimes at 1800, I saw finally that if the screen is off it goes to 1800 and with screen on it lowers to 1200.

I saw your video and afterwards I'm still not convinced. Neither is my co-worker who also had a note 2 and now has a note 3. I was using my friends charger from the s4 ( the 2 amp samsung one that looks identical to the note 2 ) and it was charging my note 2 slower than normal. So I pulled out the galaxy charge current and his charger was only charging at half the rate and would fluctuate big time if I moved the cable. So Without you running that app or proving somehow that this phone is charging at a certain current vs another one at a certain rate then this test could be counted invalid...
My phone only shows 1800 if i first unlock it.
Else, it shows 1200 sometimes 1250. Does that mean it cant charge at 1800 when the screen is on?
CHarging is good but the battery is not good
the note 2 have 3100 mAH and NOte 3 had 3200.. i wish samsung will upgrade the battery more than 3200 mAH..

Wireless charger question.

I am new to the nexus 6 and I have a wireless charger I bought for me G2. It came with a wireless pad and cable. It says to use the charger your phone came with.
Well our Nexus 6's come with the super chargers...
Is it OK to use the wireless charger pad with our power chargers? Or should I purchase a 2 amp (or something different) charger to use with the wireless pad?
Just looking for advice. Thank you.

You can use the g2 charger as-is. It will just be slow. Won't damage the phone..
Well I sold the g2 with the charger. So I have the charger the nexus 6 came with. I am fine with slow charging as I put it on the pad then sleep at night. I just don't want to burn something up because we have the new style chargers. Maybe I'm wrong but I wanted to ask. Better safe than sorry.

This is probably the best one to use for QI Chargers.
I have about 5 of them I use for the 2 QI Chargers I have and for traveling.
I contacted the manufacturer of my qi charger and they said that I needed a 1.8 amp minimum charger to work the 3 coil system. They actually sell a 2 amp add on one. They had the answer all along.. I appreciate all the responses and help.

The standard turbo charger of the N6 has a capacity of 1,6 A. When the device connected is suitable for turbo (like the N6) it switches to turbo mode 1 or to mode 2 by setting the Volt to 9 or 12 V, but only when the battery is charged below 78%.
The wireless QI charging pads from China are connected to chargers with a capacity of 1 A. at 5 V.
This way of wireless charging works for my Nexus devices..
Has anyone tried the Unicorn Beetle case with the VÜ wireless charging car mount?
I ordered it, really hope it fits... Really nervous!

You can use an QC 2.0 charger on any phone without issues. The phones/devices PCU (power control unit) controls the output and pulls what it can from be charger. I have 5 or 6 QC 2.0 chargers including 3 Motorola 'turbo' ones and some others. I use these to power my qi pads, charge external batteries, charge my Huawei Watch (formerly charged my LG Urbane) and I've never had any issues at all.

Wireless chargers

So it seems that the wireless charger Samsung offers is "fast". How fast is it compared to 3rd party wireless chargers? Anyone know of any 3rd party ones that are peppy?
Did you read/find the specs for the official Wireless charger ? (I've not)
The only thing I've read was the S7 is quicker to charge than the S6, supposing with the same charger.
I've never clearly read that the S7 is Qi compatible, and I hope so, because I've a lot of Qi charger here
But I've seen that some processors have an impact about wireless chargers, I hope that the quicker charge is compatible with standard Qi charger (maybe it's one of the last question I have before pre-ordering ! )

That's more like the input voltage because 10W is 5V @ 2A which most QI chargers run at, but the wireless chargers lose a lot in the transfer.
Now maybe some chargers out there output higher but the specs on the Samsung chargers all seem to output at 5W.
Its the output, there's even 15w wireless chargers out there.

If you guys are looking for a wireless charger for the car (I highly recommend one, makes life so much easier) I got the iOttie onetouch Qi charger. I love the thing, Super secure, 1 touch insert and removal (1 hand, some require two hands to place). There are other competing ones to check out, but definitely look for one with one handed operation.

Anyone know how the Pixel will do with third party but high quality chargers such as Anker or Choetech?
I don't think anyone will have concrete evidence until we get to try it out. I would assume if it works with the 5x/6p it should be the same.

USB power delivery. It's the standard that the pixel uses for quick charging.
http://www.usb.org/developers/powerdelivery/
If you don't have the right cable and charger, the phone could draw too much power and kill the usb port or burn out the charger. If you use a quality cable, you should be fine even for old chargers, just won't charge as fast

I believe QC3 chargers will work on this device. I can rapid charge my Pixel C with a QC3 charger, at 5v3a. QC3 also supports the 9v2a charge that these phones need.
Of course I will test and update when I receive it, but if its anything like the Pixel C tablet, it will work.
As for the cables, anything on amazon with 4-5 stars will probably be up to spec. You are looking to make sure it has a 56k Ohm Resistor
There was a bunch of drama last year. Even cables with the right resistor wound up potentially being incompatible

Any information on the new wireless chargers? Seeing as it's $90 vs last years model with can be had for much less, is there that much of a difference?
Buy one of these, I had these on my S7 Edge and Note 7 and they all charged wirelessly "fast".

I say buy one first try it out, then if you are happy then buy more. They are shipping from California so it should be quick.

How can these be so cheap?? Are they safe?
With the Nexus 6P, the charging cables are USB C on both ends. Are the samsung cables the same way? Are these wireless chargers USB C or micro usb?
Here are a few recommended on reddit.

I have 3... Great so far. One at work, one at home, one with my gf. I think they have to compete with the samsung chargers that are flooding eBay.
This is the one I use myself on the S7 Edge, it does fast charging and uses a USB-C cable:

Its best advantage of galaxy s6 , s7 and and galaxy edge model have a wireless charger .
I was looking for a Qi "Docking Station" and found the Samsung Qi charging stand "open box" deal on Amazon and could not pass it up at $25 shipped. Only had it 24 hours and seems pretty decent on an S6 Edge Plus. Uses a standard micro-USB not the USB-C.

When I got it the seal on the factory box was opened, but the unit appeared brand new, came with everything else sealed and even had all the protective wrap on it.
2 brand new white ones for $43 from samsung.com
How much slower do the 'fast' wireless chargers charge it vs the stock usb c cable charger? Last time i tried it was on my S5 and its so much slower than charging with a cable that it just wasnt worth the minor reduction in hassle of not having to plug in the cable, but if it was charging almost as fast then it might be worth it.

Probably wasnt. But I havent seen any data on how fast the fast wireless charging is vs fast cable charging. I suspect the wireless is still much slower but if not then I will probably look to pick up a good charger for it.

Its pretty fast I tested it with my S6 and Note 5 last year. I dont have the exact numbers but its much faster than regular wireless charging. I don't recall if it was as fast as plugging it in but it's pretty close.

Ok I found something on the S7 Edge saying 9% to 100% took just over 2 hours on fast wireless and 90 mins with cable. Not too bad but cable still over 33% faster. I think they said the s8 had slightly faster wireless charging than the s7 but didnt say by how much or provide any data on it.
In this review of the new wireless charger it shows that its plug is rated for both 5V at 2A or 9V at 1.67A, so it should support 15 watt charging, for QC 3.0 speeds. Wish they weren't $90, I need two of them...

This is in one of the FCC test reports:
b) Output power from each primary coil is less than 10 watts in DC 5 V condition and 15 watts in DC 9 V condition.
- Output power from each primary coil : 15 watts.
