I review the MXQ Pro Android box, and skewer it for misusing Kodi's name - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

A lot of this post has also appeared on the Kodi forums.
I was sent a "fully loaded Kodi box"/"free movies and TV" Android box for a product review, so I remembered the recent blog post from the XBMC Foundation, and made the problems with this kind of thing very clear in my video and text review, and asked the sellers to stop.
I do Amazon Product Reviews. I get sent a lot of products to review, and this particular one caught my eye. It was a "fully loaded" Android box with Kodi, that promised "free movies and TV". A month before I had read the post on Kodi.tv entitled The Piracy Box Sellers and Youtube Promoters Are Killing Kodi where the XBMC Foundation clearly ask for this practice to stop, and why. Take a look at the product links and titles to see why I firmly think this was exactly the sort of thing that post was asking stops:
Amazon.ca Title: MXQ PRO® T10 Quad Core 1080P Android TV Box Fully Loaded Streaming Media Player with many Free Moive and TV ,bulid-in Lastest KODI(XBMC),Android 4.4 Kitkt, CPU Amlogic S805, 1.5 GHz

So, deciding in no small part that Kodi has done more for me than this Android box ever will, I shot a video review that clearly shows the problems this box has right out of the packaging, and the broken addons, and that it's "free movies and TV" addons hardly seems legitimate...
I then uploaded the review to those three Amazon links:
Link to the Amazon.ca Review: https://www.amazon.ca/review/R1CBGFXM8ZEHZ1

... and onto YouTube:
And I added this text review:
Title: A TV Box with Android 4.4 and alright hardware, but violates the wishes of the makers of Kodi, and many addons broken as shipped
Well here we have an Android-running TV Box box that you can connect to your TV. It's got a wifi antenna on the back, Ethernet too, two USB ports, HDMI port, a 3.5mm port and optical out as well. The IR remote that comes with it seems like a simple clicky version, I quite like it, seems to have every button you could want, there is even a button for Kodi.
I loaded it up and after the ~15sec intro movie (that comes on every time you boot, even if you turned it off from the remote and restarted it from there) you get a "10ft interface" launcher. The largest button is for Kodi, but there are also a few other online video service apps preinstalled (e.g. Netflix). A look in the all apps list shows a lot of apps pre-installed, and the Play Store. A flick through the settings shows that you need to enable Ethernet manually, you can't just plug it in. Still, generally OK there.
If we look in the title of the product on Amazon, it mentions Kodi, so let's click on that biggest launcher button. When you start it for the first time, you're immediately asked if you want to enable add-ons by a short, simple question dialogue. Likely you'll and everyone else will chose Enable, even if you just want to see what add-ons they are. After enabling, Kodi loaded with the add-ons (took about 20 seconds), and then promptly started notifying me that several of them were marked as broken and should be disabled. I'll be honest, I was annoyed that my brand new TV Box is already telling me parts of it are broken. Still, thinking this was the "latest [version of] Kodi" as the title of the product stated on Amazon, I was even more bothered to see yet another prompt asking to update Kodi itself.
Heading over to the add-ons list in settings, I saw many, many add ons that appeared to help me get free TV and Movies, but those services didn't seem to be legal, above board services. It should be noted that there are a lot of legal services you can get that will work perfectly well on Android boxes like this and some of them have Kodi add-ons, but this particular product seemed to be giving it's favourite non-legitimate ones... and Kodi itself is telling me some of them are broken even when the device is straight out of the packaging.
This unit describes itself as "Fully Loaded Streaming Media Player with many Free Moive and TV" (sic). The developers of Kodi, the XBMC Foundation, made a blog post on 14th February 2016, titled "The Piracy Box Sellers and Youtube Promoters Are Killing Kodi". In the post, the developers clearly inform the public that boxes such as this, which sell themselves as having Kodi and providing "free movies and TV" or saying they are "fully loaded", have absolutely nothing to do with the XBMC Foundation are in fact hurting them and Kodi itself. For context, Kodi is a free and open source media centre, designed for playing your media files on various devices. It can be downloaded by anyone at no charge and has nothing to do with piracy. Products such as the MXQ Pro sell themselves with Kodi clearly in the product name (and in this case, even on the included remote control) along with their promises of free movies and TV. Those users then wonder why the addons that make this happen break or just don't work as intended or desired, and believe Kodi or the XBMC Foundation are somehow to blame (they are not). Kodi clearly asked for the practice of selling "fully loaded" Kodi boxes to stop, and suggested that they sell their box with unmodified Kodi (among other ideas). They did this before I was offered this device for review, and this post remains at the time of writing. From examining this TV box, I believe it to be exactly the kind of problem device the XBMC Foundation is concerned about.
I can't recommend this product, if I were to do so, I'd be harming Kodi itself, which has brought the field of media centres far forward in its time. Sure the hardware of this TV box seems fine, but it's misrepresenting the major software that makes it happen.
Pros:
* OK hardware
* I like the remote
Cons (severe):
* Directly goes against the express wishes of the XBMC Foundation regarding the use of Kodi in products which claim to offer "free Movies and TV".
* Many add-ons were broken when the device arrived, it should be noted that these add-ons work with, but are separate to Kodi, and Kodi does not make them or come with them normally.
To the sellers of this device, who are selling it as offering Kodi with "free movies and TV" and "fully loaded", please stop.
I was given a sample for an honest review. The above is my honest opinion.

As I said earlier, I posted it up on the Kodi forums where at least one of the devs has thanked me, along with others. I feel it's the least I could do for all the value Kodi has given me over the years. If they don't want their name used this way, that's up to them.

All4, ITVHub, My5, RTÉ Player, 3Player, and TG4

There is a BBC iPlayer Android TV app available for the Nvidia Shield TV, but I have not been able to locate native versions of the following:
All4, ITVHub, Demand 5, RTÉ Player, 3Player, and TG4.
Versions of these apps for *regular* Android exist, and they can be sideloaded, but using a mouse or game controller stick to navigate these does not appeal.
- Do versions of these apps exist that would work properly on the shield, perhaps sideloading Sony Android versions, if that is even possible?
- Is there a complete list of Android TV apps available for all regions somewhere? Browsing to the Google Play Store link for same does not provide this.
- Anyway to check if native versions of these apps are in development, or to request them?
*Just to add, Kodi is one of the main reasons I use the Shield, there is a well working ITV addon for it, two BBC iPlayer addons, and a half working Irish TV addon. Unfortunately, even the ones that work properly cannot compare to the experience provided by the GUI of a full featured regular Android or Smart TV app.
These apps are available for the Android Amazon Fire TV, but until someone is kind enough to extract these apps and share I think we're stuck without them
Perhaps contacting nVidia to see what they can do?

I have never owned a Fire, but I have just read Fire OS is based on Android, and it is possible to sideload apks onto the fire. Would the Fire apps actually work on Android TV, and do you know if it is possible to extract them in the first place?
I will see if I can find the best way to contact Nvidia on this, be via email or their forums. In the meantime I have emailed the developers of the existing regular Android apps, asking if they could consider developing a native version for Android TV. If anyone wants to email expressing their interest in same it may help, here are the email addresses:

You could perhaps send them something similar to:
Hi
Could you please consider developing a version of the <insert app name> app native to Android TV? There seems to be a native app for every other platform, but the regular Android version of the app does not work on Android TV, which runs on for instance the Nvidia Shield TV, because it is aimed at touchscreen devices, rather than allowing the user navigate using a remote control.
Thanks
It seems this is possible, and I have requested this here:
Extract Fire TV APKs?
That said, someone else made a similar request and there is no indication on the thread this was fulfilled.
Perhaps an owner of a Fire TV would be willing to help us? Instructions on how to do this are in the linked thread!
I live in Scotland, and the STV Player app works fine on the nVidia Shield. But I'd also like these apps.
My5 works, too. however the app thinks it is a phone and it won't rotate out of vertical mode.
You'd think these companies would make a better effort at pushing apps for use on native Android TV.
Apps from
Amazon Fire TV
Sony Android TV's
will work on the nVidia shield for sure, but no one is able to provide them
If you look on the forum of the thread I linked to, other Amazon Fire apk requests have been fulfilled. I would be surprised if no one will help us out.
I really should have made a new thread there requesting these but it seems on XDA I cannot delete my post, and I do not want to cross post.
I have asked the mods to remove my post on the old thread, and created a new thread requesting these apks from an Amazon Fire TV owner. Voicing your interest in that new thread may help encourage someone to help us!

Have you tried using rotate this? It forces phone apps to be displayed as landscape.
So are you saying if there's a version that works with the amazon fire tv that it'll work for nvidia shield too?
I've tried to sideload the apks from my mobile devices before but with no joy.
We now have virgin tv and this doesn't support the full all4 and itv apps, only the past 7 days. Our TV also isn't supported so it would be really good to able to use these apps with the shield.
Would someone be so kind and upload the new Nvidia Shield ITV Hub App.
Inhave all the uk catch up on my shield using vpn from Ireland but the one I cannot get is all4 or 4player.Cant get it ti work even on the mobile app.
Is there a shield apk for all4 in 2018 ?
Just so you know all4 detects rooted devices even with magiskhide

Same request, could someone post or pm that APK from the shield, I want to see if it works on my Philips android TV ?
Nvideas own shield webpages say its available on the play store, and so it got me wondering if there's now a version optimised for use with remotes but not in the android TV play store for my device ?
I've tried extracting from my fire TV, but they won't install on other devices because they are linked to fire os,/app store
Thanks
OK so after nearly 4 years "my5" has had an update today that now makes it unusable on shield - so my5 is out of the equation
And my5 is back lol, well I downloaded the my5 apk from fire TV and Installed on shield, purchased my5 on amazon website through the browser on my gf's s5, then installed appstore and logged in on shield. After this my5 opens and works perfect, is actually way better than side loaded version by far - just need all4 to be remote friendly and I'm set. All I can seem to find are apk wrappers for all4 fire TV apk
Can someone please upload the latest My5 apk version 3.0.0.88.

[Review] Beelink GT1 (Amlogic S912) Android TV box

Disclaimer: I received this box free as part of a beelink beta-test group. I am not a professional reviewer so please take this review as more from an average user perspective.
On tearing open the package, I have to say the premium feel of this box is outstanding and on a level above any other Android TV box I’ve received in this price range. The sleek black box with the silver lettering definitely screams classy premium.

For a complete listing of hardware and video output specs please see forum post linked here: http://www.bee-link.com/Beelink-274-1-1.html
Unboxing:
[see pics at end]
Initial Setup/Performance:
Included in the box is the main device itself, a “high speed” HDMI cable, power adapter and remote which carries 2xAAA batteries (batteries not included).
The top of the device carries a classy beelink logo with a glossy finish helping this box stand out. The right side of the device is blank and I wish there was an additional USB port here. The back houses the main ports: Power, 1xUSB, HDMI, GB Ethernet and SPDIF. On the left side of the box is a 1xUSB port and a microSD card slot. Beelink states the microSD slot supports up to 32GB cards but I was able to read/write to my 64GB PNY card with no problems. On the bottom there are four subtle feet to help stop the device from sliding around.
Powering up the device you will find 1 ‘soft’ white LED status indicator on the front. Thankfully it’s not super bright and shouldn’t keep you up at night.
Boot time - first boot 23.7 seconds
Reboot from home screen - 34.06 seconds
The beelink launcher is one of the best Android TVBox launchers out there. It’s simple, uncluttered with big bright unmistakable icons and most of all it works great with the remote or a mouse.
Bluetooth is also natively supported on the box (you won’t need an external dongle) and I successfully connected my bluetooth speakers and headset for use.
There is no bloatware on this box. None at all. Kudos to beelink for this as some manufacturers preload too much unnecessary software on these boxes. Of the 16GB storage about 10GB is available to the user to install apps or store your media files. Here’s a list of what’s installed by default: App4TV, AppInstaller, Browser, FileBrowser, Fishing Joy, Gallery, Kodi, KodiMate, Media Center, MoviePlayer, Music, Play Store, PPOE, Settings, Update&Backup.
Additional apps I’ve installed:
MXPlayer - plays pretty much everything you can throw at it.
CrossyRoad - game response is better than expected even with the slow remote
Riptide GP - gameplay was good even with the slow remote
Youtube for AndroidTV.
Antutu Benchmark - direct through Play Store
Geekbench 4 - direct through Play Store
Youtube installed via play store does not have the native Android TV resolution or controls and is extremely hard to navigate without a mouse. You will have a better experience if you manually install Youtube for Android TV. Max resolution available 1080p60.
Download Youtube for Android TV (current version 1.3.11) from APKMirror here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube-for-android-tv/
The included remote is very basic, is lighter than their previous controls and does not match the premium feel of the box. It’s functional but somewhat slow.
Wifi Connectivity:
The S912 device successfully found and connected to both my 2.4 and 5GHz networks. Also picked up a few of my neighbors
The following results are from the SpeedTest.net app from the Play Store:
My home internet speed 250 Mbps Down / 50 Mbps Up
Router 3 feet away
2.4GHz - 30.91 Mbps Down / 38.18 Mbps Up
5GHz - 107.88 Mbps Down / 48.86 Mbps Up
Router 13 feet away with 1 wall between
2.4GHz - 2.94 Mbps Down / 26.50 Mbps Up
5 GHz - 16.58 Mbps Down / 15.52 Mbps Up
The 5GHz band is clearly superior so I’d recommend using this if you can.
Benchmarks:
I’m not a big fan of software benchmarks so I won’t go into any details here as there are plenty of other reviews listing them. However here are the scores:
Antutu scored - 41407
Geekbench 4 score - 585 Single-Core / 2418 Multi-Core
Video Playback:
Majority of videos play smooth with no issues including 4K. Streaming via Kodi was smooth and error free on those add-ons we all love to use that I won’t mention. Playback was fast from both attached USB drives and the microSD card. Pausing and seeking (forward and back) provided no challenges.
I have experienced some video stutters and audio is out of sync with some 4K files but this will need further testing. Not sure if this is user error or a limitation of this particular chip as has been mentioned of boxes from other manufacturers carrying the S912 chip. However, this shouldn’t be a problem for the average user whose main goal is to stream general content via Kodi, Hulu, Netflix and 1080p Youtube.
Video Test Files:
BigBuck Bunny
4K Samples from: http://4ksamples.com/
Linaro Sample Media: http://samplemedia.linaro.org/
Google Widevine - Supported
Apps like Netflix need Widevine Level 1 DRM to be able to stream in a resolution above SD.
Missing Features / Issues:
Button on remote to open multitasking like on the Zidoo boxes.
Remote not as responsive as the MiniMX III remote. Clicks sometimes don’t register or register as double. Hopefully this can be fixed in a software update.
Does not come pre-rooted. Hopefully root can come as part of an OTA update.
HDMI CEC - starts the box when you turn on your TV. Would be a nice feature to have.
Overall:
From my limited time with this device I am highly satisfied with this box specs vs performance. If you enjoyed the beelink MiniMX III then you will enjoy the upgrade this box provides. This is another great offering from beelink and I doubt you will find another Android TV box with this spec/performance for this price. I would definitely recommend this to my customers.

Can you check if its possible to send picture to a miracast enabled TV?
i have 3 issues with this GT1 box.
1) Plugging 1TB hard drive while the box is on will cause the screen goes blank. Nothing can be done except turn off and on the power plug to reboot it.
2) Random green screen flickering. Change to other HDMI cable and change display setting still not solve the issue.
3) Picture quality a little bit darker compare to my other android box. Can notice when I watch movie with a lot dark scene.
How to send picture with the Miracast?

I want to know if it has the option. I think it would be more settings, display, cast screen then enable "enable wireless display" option
I have same issues. Green screen flickering, maybe caused by automatic brightness option or by Rendering Section, maybe option "Turn off hardware overlays" hardware overlays", will force the device to always use GPU for screen compositing.
I read this somewhere....

Hello,
I'd like to use it to share my external harddisk with Samba, have you tested the speed transfert between a computer and an external device connected?
Got a RPI2+ but the transfert is maximum 11MB/S due to 100mbits chip.

Hevc 10-bit
My problem is with hevc 10-bit videos. While in some video reviews I watched over the Internet everything worked perfectly, when I tried it didn't go very well. While with h264 and h265 video files everything is ok in kodi, there is no way to play h265 10bit videos(with kodi). Green flickering all over the screen, absolutely unwatchable. Also tried to play h265 10bit video files with mx player and default media player and everything was working smooth with hw decoding. Absolutely no idea why kodi can't play h265 10bit files. Any idea?
Plex app for android same result when using direct play. Green flickering. Interesting that when I use external player for plex (mx player, default video player) no flickering at all
If you're planning on using any live tv/live channels or streaming on kodi with this box, it will NOT work.
A lot of us are having issues with anything live on Kodi. Meanwhile, 1080p Youtube, 4k media files, kodi with pre-recorded programs all play fine, very smooth and without issue, and so it isn't a network problem.
But load up Kodi and open any addon with any live tv/channel streaming (Exodus, cCloudTV, Phoenix) and all you get is working audio with very choppy/lagging video that changes one frame every 3-5 seconds. Other standalone streaming apps work without problem. The problem is just Kodi but Kodi is far too important and I might have to return this drive if there's no fix.
Many people are complaining on the company site and Beelink is just ignoring them. Avoid this box if you are planning on using Kodi streaming.

It is terrible. Everyone buys this box for kodi and it does not even work properly. They not only ignore the problem in their website forum but they have intentionally deleted posts about this problem.
I managed to get it fixed today after many factory resets and using the pre-installed kodi. So it looks like Kodi doesn't work on the Beelink GT1 box if you remove/uninstall the one that comes already included with the Beelink and attempt to use a brand new Kodi from the Play Store or Kodi website. I do not like this as I prefer a clean fresh kodi install and you can never know what they might have put in the already installed kodi.

Yes, that is what appears to happen.
You said you already ordered it, right?
When the box comes, before you do anything, try using the preinstalled kodi and see if it streams properly and good. If it works, that is great. Then try erasing Kodi and installing a fresh new one from the Play Store and try streaming with that one. If you see any problems, just do a quick system factory reset and use the preinstalled kodi.
This is what I ended up doing now

Which video files are you trying? Any chance you can give me the names or provide a download link and I'll test. Also have you tried SPMC instead of Kodi? The guy behind SPMC was the main Android Dev for Kodi but he left the group a few months back.

Honestly since Koying stopped developing the main Kodi app I've been using his fork SPMC, With SPMC I don't have any issue with Live TV/Channel streaming. cCloud, Clu IPTV, UKTurks all work ok. Phoenix has always been hit or miss for me so I hardly ever use it. I expect this is a problem with Kodi which the Android devs have yet to fix since it works OK in SPMC which is a fork of Kodi.

Like I mentioned above, this could be a problem for the Kodi devs to fix not Beelink. I could be wrong, however the fact that SPMC (the Kodi fork) works great for live streaming, is still actively developed by the guy that was the main Android dev for the Kodi team, speaks volumes.
Also the Kodi that comes pre-installed on the box is the same from the PlayStore, check the signature on the apk.

Is there any way to see Prime Video on mx9 pro?

Welcome to the whole forum, I'm new here and I hope to find a way to solve a problem I have with my android tv box MX9 pro. The first thing I did to whatch Prime Video was to install it from the play store. The application works, allows me to log in and gives me all the movies, tv series available. But when I want to watch a video content, whatever it is, the movie starts for about a second then closes (crashes) and returns to the home page of the chosen content.
Then i tried to install the version for Android TV, obviously not through the play store, and even in this case I log in regularly. When I want to see a video content, the video does not start but constantly remaining the buffering circle.
Finally I tried to see if I could bypass the application by going through KODI and I installed the Sandmann79 add-on for prime video and, although with a different procedure, I regularly access my Prime account. When I want to start watching a video content, after setting the standard kodi player, this seems to start regularly, the time bar advances but the screen remains blank and nothing is heard.
At this point I have exhausted all the options available to me and I am forced to ask for help in this forum.
Is it really impossible to play the videos of the first videos with this device?

I don't have this device but, I'm just wondering if the following will also be helpful for what you are looking for. Don't be afraid to ask for some member guidance within it too.

UNLESS asked to do so, PLEASE don't PM me regarding support. Sent using The ClaRetoX Forum App on my SM-G900T device.
Thank you, i had already Read that post and i tried the last apk 4.10.3 of [email protected] but using that apk, i got an error of internet connection when i tried to watch a video. What i am trying now is to set VLC as external default player in kodi to make sure that all the videos launched by kodi are opened with vlc that always reads everything. There is an xml file to be integrated into a specific folder of kodi but then, when I want to open the video, it gives me a message that there is an external player but I do not open it then, yet, I can not say if this additional method it works or not.
Anyway the procedure suggested in the post you conseiled me doesn't work, at least for me.
Thanks Anyway.
Rockchip, the chipset company already fixed the problem of Amazon Prime Video not working over a year ago on similar devices.
The manufacturer of your tv box must have really outdated firmware and zero support since they didn't fix it.
But Amazon also blocks the tablet app from working on devices with traces of AndroidTV as in your case and the AndroidTV app only works on full AndroidTV devices having Playready 3 DRM, which your device doesn't have, thus the error with the AndroidTV app.
You can use the Kodi addon, it works correctly, check if your are using the latest version and login from the addon's settings and wait, also make sure the InputStream addon is enabled and changed to InputStream and not Kodi or something else.
Thank you. I don't think My Android Device is out dated because received Android 8. Anyway if the problem is with drm 3 no way. Not even with kodi works, i tried all i could try. I installed addon prime video of sandmann79 and enabled inputstream but i only get The movie starting with no image neither sound, only White screen and time bar going on. Therefore i wanted to try an external player as vlc.....
I think i can't go on anymore, the Device doesn't send anymore video Signal to my tv so i can't anymore display it on the tv..... Definitively broken.
At the end of all i got a conclusión that only a tv box is worthy of bringing this name, ie nvidia shield tv, albeit with all its flaws. I had one and despite very few apps were on the play store (Chrome on all), did not have an on / off button, did not display all the shortcuts in the app section, had absolutely no such problems. I gave it back because I did not like these things but I did not think that these Chinese boxes were such a crap. I tried h96 max +, mx9 pro and both of them stopped after two days of work. I think to back to buy a shield tv, the only box worked fine with prime video, Netflix, without lags thanks to his powerful hardware.

Mecool KM9 Pro media box prime video help

I recently ordered one on aliexpress and it was delivered in around 10 days (unfortunately customs charged me extra for it).
The box worked out of the box and appears to be VERY VERY quick, I had to fiddle a bit with the resolution since it was conflicting with my HDMI splitter and not working but I finally managed to make it run at 1080p60hz which is the maximum my tv supports.
Everything works nicely, however quite a few apk are not suited for android tv so they install in the sideloading menu (i did install blockada and a few others).
My biggest concern is amazon prime video, I am an amazon subscriber so i'd like to retain that functionality
There is no APK for prime video available on the market, so I installed aptoide and started to try apk from there
Some of them do not work at all, some have no sound, other have no overlay capability (no subs) and others crash..
No way.
I downloaded the apk available in the nvidia shield forum.
The latest release work, it supports overlay, but its somewhat stuttering..I mean every now and then it freezes for a fraction of second then goes on..
It is not unwatchable, but its a bit annoying..
I was wondering if anybody else has this device and has found a solution for this issue.
I am quite satisfied of the buy, it is incredibly fast when compared to my old firestick and it doesn't ever freeze..
thanks
Try searching "prime video android tv" and check the first link. I hope this is the official app and should work.
i have the mecool km3, and i use an older version of the app, because the latest release just wouldn't play sound
get apptoide and install an older version of prime video
Which version of prime video works best with these boxes?

Mi Box - Prime Video HD Downloads

I have slow DSL with buffer issues so I prefer to download shows for offline viewing. I sideloaded the phone/tablet prime video apk and aside from graphical glitches (no rewind/forward/subs controls) downloads are only in SD - even after selecting "Best" download quality which downloads HD on my other android devices.
Is there a workaround? Or another android tv box which Amazon officially supports for HD downloads?
I installed DRM Info and it all checks out. The device is Widevine L1 certified & connected via HDCP 2.2.
It seems Amazon simply does not acknowledge TV boxes! (when it comes to offline viewing)
To answer my own question, Android TV as an OS is not & never will be suitable for any kind of show downloads!
From experimenting with the non-HD download support in sideloaded TV apps, Android TV is very susceptible to data corruption as it lacks a shutdown procedure.
It is designed to be abruptly turned off at the mains along with the TV (for example, it is an integrated into many Sony TVs).
Thus it is nothing more than a streaming OS and offers nothing extra when connected to already smart TVs.
I feel "Android TV" is false advertising. It is far more minimal and less capable than Android phones & tablets with many features, app permissions, settings screens missing. Also it has no notification area at all.
Thus many sideloaded apps are uninstallable or unusable.
They should go back to calling it Google TV to remove the associations & expectations of an Android device!
