Wi-fi calling not working. LG free battery promo gave my invalid date error. - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Well, for whatever reason, my wi-fi calling will not slide from off to on. The screen flashes briefly and calling remains off.
Also, when i went to submit my application with LG for the free battery promo and used the date of 4-1-2016, i got an "invalid date" error.

It may be that this is the server heavily loaded or are preparing for the same and that's why you get an error when I insert the code. Regarding your problem of wif-calling you try doing a reset factory???

Just did a factory data reset from recovery. I rebooted the phone and got an error message saying "the phone is corrupt and cannot be trusted."
So far, not too happy with my new G5.

Factory Reset did not resolve the wi-fi calling issue. It will still not turn on. Sprint tech support was no help. LG tech support said they would open up a ticket and escalate the issue, but that I wouldn't hear anything until Monday at the earliest due the the weekend.
Is anyone else having any issues with their wi-fi calling? I'm on Sprint, BTW.

WiFi calling is working fine for me, although I'm on Verizon.
If you were getting errors on submitting for your promo earlier, resubmit. I contacted LG this morning and they were having issues with their database which have since been resolved; my promo went through a couple hours ago.

Apparently this an issue with Sprint LG G5s. They started a forum and a thread with this very issue after I posted this.

Atrix 4G cannot detect network carriers

I got my 4G a week ago and was working fine. Until yesterday my friend called me and requested me to use the *#*#4636#*#* code to check the Radio Bank in the Phone Info. It shown USA and I just pressed once and then returned. Also clicked the "enable data connection" and the 4G lost connection with the network. I am using China Mobile which works perfectly fine. I did a factory reset hoping this wuld resolve the problem.
However after numerous trials including flash the ROM and still could not resume to normal. I went into the Phone Info and saw that there are exceptions in the Phone Info screen. (per attached).
I chatted online with Motorola service desk and the lady asked me to send back the phone for repair. If I have a solution, I don't want to do that.
Can anyone advise me what's happening to my 4G and how can I resolve this problem? Would it be a "soft brick"?
Thank you...Peter Chan

Hi Peter,
I got exact the same problem :-(
Spoke to a Level 2 specialist of Motorola, but even they couldn't do anything. The only option is sending in the phone, but then you need a US return address.
If you do find a solution could you please post it here?
PS
A SBF file has just been leaked: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=989577
This might solve the problem...

Error 16 Today ? Solved

Can anyone help with this with out calling sprint. I rooted my phone like 2 weeks and now My 2 Evo 3d are showing error 16.
I have a data but can't make calls I Read that is some kind of Sprint network security.
I live in the bay area does anyone have this problem this morning ?
Make a phone call and itll get fowarded to sprint, let them handle it. It takes like 5 minutes.
I think you still need to call them. Or chat with them online. Say that they need to reprovision your phone on their end.
I don't want to call because i think they know at this point the only rooted evo 3ds have the problem.

I don't think so. I think I remember some people having the issue before root was out.

Just call, or go to the online chat, they should fix it with no questions asked. I had to do this a week or two ago when it randomly happened to me.
Mine did this same exact thing last week. Didn't have the issue after rooting, but 2 weeks after I rooted I went on a business trip and got error 16 when trying to make any call.
Phone would not automatically transfer me to Sprint no matter how many calls I attempted to make.
I had to call them, and after about 2 hours and about 5 different Sprint reps they finally sorted it.

It's easy and they don't care. The only way to do it is by calling.
i just called and is Working back Thanks everybody

I've been rooted for 3 days and the same things happened to today. I was finishing a call and i hung up and tried to make another call and it told me "Thank You for calling Verizon etc etc." I had a triangle above my signal bars. Then i attempted another call and got the error 16 message and it shot me to customer service where they already knew i received the issue. Funny thing is i asked her what usually causes the error 16 and she told me "that happens when you pull out the battery and yea."
damn it I just found out after work I have the same issue. Didnt use my phone all day so I didnt know. I'm also in the bay area. On the phone with sprint now. What do they need to do exactly. The rep I'm talking to wants to run several test but cant since I'm calling them from my phone and I dont have any other phone to use.
EDIT: they had to reset my profils so when I restarted it auto provisioned. Fixed now

Nothing....If you get this it is a problem authenticating your phones security on their end. You must call to get this fixed.

[Q] Restricted Access Change

Sometimes after I reset the my phone I get the notification "restricted access change".
At first i thought it might be sim card since it is a new phone. So I switched it with my wifes and she put mine in hers. Her phone worked perfectly but when I turned mine on, It worked for a bit (sometimes does this also) then eventually stops working.
* no Texts can be sent or received and no calls can be received. If I try to call someone it stays on dialing and I can't cancel the call. (stays as if I am calling and have to reset phone)
Sometimes It doesn't show error, Just stops all of the above anyway.
Any suggestions or comments? anything would help.
Did you ever get to solve this issue? I am getting it on my T-mobile S3.
Tmobile could not solve the issue. Now sending the device to Samsung support to see any hardware issues...

I am getting this error too on my T-Mobile S3. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT:The reason I was getting this error was due to the guy I got my S3 from closed his t-mobile account without paying the ETF. Therefore my S3 now has been blocked on Tmobile network. The guy gave me a refund on the phone tho.

Invalid sim card

This message started popping up about two weeks ago. Was running the new viper for a few weeks when it started, but it does it on all the roms I've tried since it started. Ran the latest ruu hoping that might help but it didn't. Only found that one other person that this error with this device on whole internet, but never found if he fixed it. Tried a few ##codes#, but nothing has worked. The only way to get it to go away is to turn the phone off and turn it back on. But it always comes back, sometimes within minutes, sometimes several hours. The only I can think of I haven't tried is calling Sprint. I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions.
4g services are unavailable as the SIM/uicc is invalid. Please contact customer care.

Update. Downgraded my firmware and I no longer get the error. But the problem is not fixed. Now lte will just not work. I took some screen shots of what the phone identity says when its not working.

It just says uicc id - not available and imsi (uicc) - not available. And when 4g is working it shows some numbers.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S5 losing network connectivity

My wife and I both have brand new Galaxy S5s, and we both intermittently experience this problem. One of us will send a text message to the other, the text will show as being sent, but the other person doesn't receive it. If the person set to receive the message reboots their phone, the message comes through (as well as any other "pending" messages), and normal phone use continues for a few days until this issue returns. Rebooting seems to always fix the issue temporarily.
This of course is not limited to just communication between our phones, but I was using that as an example. Often times, I'll reboot my phone, and realize I have 3 new text messages, and 2 voicemails from yesterday. Very frustrating.
Phone calls are also affected. When these symptoms are present, phone calls cannot be placed or received until the phone is rebooted. Incoming calls go directly to voicemail.
The worst part of it is, there is no easy way to tell our phones are not connected to the network. The reception status shows good connectivity. Most of the time we're connected to wifi, so email and browsing the internet still work.
I'm just wondering if other people are experiencing this, or have any suggestions of some things we can try. Thanks for the help.

Samsung just rolled out a new update for T-Mobile S5 variant. This update should fix the issues you're having. Here is the link to it: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29848

Well, that was very timely. I'm glad they released a fix the same day I decided to ask for help. I appreciate the link, and I'll install it and see how it works out. Cheers.
The update killed a lot of people's data speeds. I made a ticket with t-mobile techs. I suggest anyone else with bad data speeds after the new update do the same.

From what I know T-Mobile doesn't care if your phone is rooted because you're not doing any warranty service. If that was the case they will probably tell you that its voided.. I have seen a few that root their own phones at their job so I doubt it'll be a problem. But I guess every T-Mobile store isn't the same..

Yes this is the exact problem I had with last GS5. Tmobile replaced it and I still have this problem with the new GS5. The tried to tell me it was just how the old GS5 settings were set. They had me do Factory reset many times, it never helped. Now with the replacement GS5 the exact same problem. Like you everything looks great on the display. I would just get calls on my home line wanting to know why I never answer my mobile phone. The only thing that helps me is a restart but it is only temporary. Do you know if they have released a fix for this problem?

The only thing it seems the tmobile employees know how to do is a factory reset .. That is their solution for about everything . Like the other guy said they dont handle warranty . That is for your samsung warranty when knox is tripped . If you have handset protection nothing voids it from what i have seen . I think tmobile would rather replace a rooted phone than one with a cracked screen .
