How to mirror calls and sms over wireless or bluetooth to another phone - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there guys sorry of this question is not in the correct forum ,
So my problem is now i have to carry two phones for two sims
One is my old sim for calls and sms , the other i recently got for the internet 4g
So i put the 3g sim on my s6 , and stuck with the old call sim on the old s7262 wich sadly does not support 3g or this would have been easier
The thing is the sms cards are for different countries so i cant call forword
My plan is to find an app that can mirror calls and text over bluetooth /wirless like in cars just to be able to handle one phone at anytime while the other is nearby
Remember the old sim have no internet connection so any app that requires connection cant be used , needless to say i tried mysms app and it needs internet
I need help guys until i can buy a better backup phone
Thank you

At least calls , i can live without sms , today i missed a job offer over this phone chaos
Any ideas ?

Looking for the same thing

[Q] Verizon 10.1 and phones calls and sms capability?

I was wondering if anyone has tried phone calls and sms on their tab? I have taken my extra phone lines sim, cut it and used it in the tab. Data runs fine, just wondering if like other gsm tabs, if we can get phone and sms running. Any thoughts ?
I dont think you can do call, I read in one of the threads that honeycomb doesn't have a dialer yet
I use groove ip and i sideloaded the google voice app onto my tab. texts and calls for free =D

Moving to Q&A
i know you can side load google voice but since my numbe is on my sim and ha unlimited sms just wondeing if i could use it. I mean after a month maybe i get a big bill or a notice because they def. Know what device im using just a matter if they do anything. I have read a fw threads on howard forums of people getting away with this and with a mifi as far a lte sim swaps. Dont really need to make calls and sms but it woukd be nice. This spare line was usualky used fordata tetheingand data use primarily anyway just much less hassle to have built in then to fire up wifi tether
To send SMS (text) just open the message app. It's included. At least here on the 10.1 3G bought in sweden. No phone calls though, just sms
Though there is supposed to be per the manual, there is no Message app on my Verizon 10.1 LTE tab. Strange.
Edit: I just read that Messaging will be included with the new update... whenever they decide to release it. The wait continues...

[Q] answers to stupid questions, please

hi:
i waited for samsung nexus.. i spose i wont get it. i ll get sgs2.
tmo says that wifi calling for free will be available starting nov 13..
they have attractive over of 100min and 5gb data for 30$
i get conflicting info whether prepay plans will even support that feature..
i dont really understand what apps i can use to make calls for free over wifi..
google voice, skype.. whateever..
i dont know why i cant use phone as hotspot and make calls through its own network..
i will root, i have no idea whats current .. i have done nothing like that since my att tilt..
any guidance is greatly appreciated..
Hello,
THis question is stupid for several reaons.
#1 Subject - No intel about what youre asking
#2 Not a specific S2 Question / its a common Android / App Question
Too your question - use whatever you want - you can use a SIp provider (for real VOIip phoning over wifi) you can use skype / fring and so on ...
jsut try it - works well
i dont know why i cant use phone as hotspot and make calls through its own network..

what the hell do you mean there - i know im not a native speaker but im pretty shure this sentence isnt either sane or english xD
i guess you mean you want to make your phone a hotspot then connect with the same phone onto it and then phone with sky from your phone over wifi to your phone over the net ? you really mean that ?
thats nonsense -
first phones got only one RX/TX unit for wifi so you can be either hotspot or client not both same time
Second no need for that - skype can use it own network like all other apps can do too
make no difference if you use wifi or 3g
however some network provider try to prevent VOI/IP - and skype communication by paket delay and or filtering - then you cant do much about it
sometimes it helps phone trough a vpn connection sometimes it dont (depent on tpye of the filterting they do)
however sometimes its just a bad APN setting - some netwokrprovider use an evil compression within their apn (while they charge you for the uncrompessed size) even flash/ajax/jscript/java apps can get broken because of that
also vpn can get scrambelnd and killed by that..
in that case ask for an uncompressed apn (most of em have it)
at last one thing to say - youre poor bastards in us
i pay 30 euro a month (including vat) for 6 gb data and 9000 min speech in every net wihtin my country - including a free sgs2 with a 2 year contract
hehe - nice to have 4 major carriers for an 8 million country lol
- btw tmobile is here too and they are frkn evil
i suggest you to use for wifi calling
you may use talkbox its not really calling but its really fun thing to contact with your friends
just be aware it consumes battery a lot
for free calls you got viber awesome app free from market
thanx for your replies..
much to digest..
Sgsii has built in voip and small root tweak to res-framework.apk using AOL manager can enable via 3g..
Warning it murders your battery if you have it always on to receive calls.

[Q] Nexus 9 phone replacement?

Hey guys,
As with the rest of you I too probably spend a bit too much time on my phone haha so when i saw the announcement of the Nexus 9 i had me start to think about the idea of using it to replace my phone and maybe since the tablet is so big ill spend more time doing other things than carrying it around. I use my phone for almost entirely internet related stuff ( social media, Stocks, news, whatsapp) and occasional texting and phone calls..
So right now I am on bell Mobility in Canada and would like to continue using my current phone plan and number so Google voice or text plus are not very useful to me. I am also not worried that there are not microphone or in-call speaker built into the tablet as i use Bluetooth headsets.
Anyways to get to my questions.... Will I be able to text using hangouts just like I do on my phone now? If not is there a solution?
Am I able to install a dialer to make phone calls through my carrier? If not what can i do? is root needed?
Thanks in advance guys!
I would think the LTE version will do all of this for you, and no don't think you need to be rooted.
Here's where I see the problem with your plan of fulfilling your phone needs with a LTE Nexus 9:
Many carriers treat SIM cards for phones differently than SIM cards for tablets. Even though they're physically identical, the IMEI associated to each SIM allows them to define what each SIM is allowed to do, and those that are classified to be used on a tablet are set to only be able to use DATA services but not VOICE services, which means that if you choose to keep your number associated to that SIM in particular, it would be converted as data-only and won't be able to receive phone calls. I'm not certain this is the case for every carrier, so I suggest you find out with your specific carrier by talking to one of their tech representatives.
As for SMS messaging, I'm not 100% sure but I think data-only SIMs allow for receiving texts but don't let you send out texts, HOWEVER, now that Android has merged google voice with hangouts which allows for your phone messages to be sent through google hangous, I can't tell for sure if this would allow you to override that restriction and be able to send through the tablet (you'd need to find out, again, talk to your carrier).
Good luck!
Unless there is something I am missing here, with hangouts, hangouts dialer and a data sim you should be able to do it all. Texts and calls. I set up a mate 2 with just a data sim and hangouts - works like a charm on att/mvno.
T-Mobile USA has a family plan, where you can add a phone line for $20 with 10GB data. If you add a tablet instead then its $20 with 2GB data. i.e. T-mobile is penalizing tablets. This is really very odd as the tablet can do LESS than the phone (i.e. can't talk). Many phones have as many pixels as tablets. So not as if the tablet will somehow consume more than a phone. Anyhow...
If you were to take a phone SIM, Tablet fastboot modify your IMEI to a phone IMEI (e.g. a broke's phone IMEI) , would it then work on the network and be treated as a phone?

[Q] question about gear s using my phone sim?

im looking to purchase a gear s unlocked brand new but everywhere i go to finda a demo or more info i cannot find one where i live even the staff are clueless even the ones working in the samsung store.
my questions are
1. if i put my phone sim into my gear s what functions can it do similarly on my phone if say i go for a walk without my phone? will whatsapp work?
2. does the gear s need to have your phone connected to the internet at home if you leave it there and go out for the day for full functionality? i read in order for gear manager to function the phone needs to be on and connected to a working connection (obviously the gear s will have my sim in it o i assume calls etc i'll receive via the watch)
3. is the watch truly stand alone for calls texts whatsapp etc if i just put my phone sim in it and go out for the night?
my ideal scenario is if i want to go out for the night and dont want to bring my phone wih me im hoping i can receive calls texts and whatsapp only by just having my phone sim in the watch. is this doable? or does my phone need to be connected in some way?
thanks
Yes. If you put your sim in the watch you will get phone calls and txt. You can txt back just like normal. Not sure about whatsapp because I don't use it. You do have to have a Samsung phone to get emails and other notification type stuff and the phone has to be connected to wifi for that to work. It makes a remote connection using network via wifi with phone and cell network with the watch.

So can i leave my phone at home connected to wifi and receive calls and texts from that number pushed to the gear s and also receive calls and texts on the separate sim i have in the watch?
If i put my phone sim in my gear s can i literally get everything i need pushed?
Sorry your post answered my question above. But in regards to whatsapp calling or viber on the gear s can i do that from the watch? How loud is the loud speaker? Like if im outside and it is noisey with traffic can i still hear without needing to put the watch close to my ear?
Lastly is it possible to sideload android wear fitness apps to it even though it runs tizen?
I like i can put a sim in unlike the s 2

I'm testing it now with two different carriers. I've never used two sim cards before so I'm not experienced at this but it does work I get calls while I'm in a call and I do have internet from the other sim while on a volte call.
When calling you get two call buttons one for each sim so it's easy to pick one to call with. For data you can use both for dual 4g or set one preffered. I can't find a way to assign that I want to use my work sim for work calls and when I have a lost call I can't see what number they called. This last part is annoying because I don't want to call back outside office hours on the calls made to my work number.
It does eat battery with two sim cards. Could be an coincident but I had 93% this morning and after work with 3-4 hours in the phone I was left at 35% or so. A few hours later it was down at 20. Usually I have two days of battery on this phone and the same on my iPhone xs that I normally use on my work sim.
Hi! We can clone only 4 apps that is Whatsapp, FB, Messenger, Wechat.
