Wipe Cache & Dalvik running SD-Card in "Internal Mode" - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I have a short question.
Is it still safe to wipe Cache & Dalvik within TWRP when the SD Card is running at "Internal Mode" on Marshmallow without losing any data?
I have used the "Internal Mode" the first time since about 2 Weeks now on my Oneplus X with the Exodus ROM. I than flashed a new Nightly last week (within TWRP from Blue Spark) and directly after this the blue spark kernel and Xposed Modul. Finally I wiped Cache & Dalvik. After booting to the OS it tells me the the SD Card was not found and I noticed that it was empty
I have flashed new nightlies before and never had a problem with something like that, but previously the SD Card always was used as External Card and I always stayed with the stock Kernel of the Exodus ROM. So I'm unsure where the data get lost..
Could the problem be the Wipe Cache & Dalvik or perhaps the change of the Kernel in combination with the Internal SD Card Mode?

hm.. nobody who has an idea what exactly was going wrong there?

Fine here, running Ressurection Remix

[Q] Clockwork not formatting even though I selected to WIPE data

Hello everyone,
I just started flashing roms today and successfully flashed AXURA (the latest version) on my Vibrant.
However, even though I selected to "wipe data and cache" in clockwork, I still see my music folders, non-existent app folders and etc...
Is there anyway to make it clean install?
Thanks

That data wipe option is referring to your system partition, not your internal sdcard (which I assume is what you're talking about). Flashing roms generally doesn't wipe what's on the sdcard, and manually wiping the internal/external sd isn't necessary for a "clean install." You're good.
Having said that, sometimes rom flashing can format/wipe your sdcard memory, so you should backup anything you don't want to lose...just in case.
If you're worried about ghosts, then odin is the best way to ensure nothing old survived the flash.

[Q] AOKP 3 Storage Problem & GApps

I flashed your AOKP build 3 on my international atrix. The ROM doesn't recognize internal and external storage for me. When my phone boots it says that is safe to remove sd card. I used the two options EMMC and SD with or without build.prop tweaks. Also i flash this with FULL wipe (system, etc) The other thing that i cannot find are GApps. Can I use CM10 GApps for this rom ?
Thanks in advance.

TF201 sd card is not being read, even though it is installed in the device

Hello , My sd card is not being recognized , I installed Black Bean Rom and everything was just fine. Then I decided to try Panandroid Rom , I liked Black Bean better , so I then tried to flash a restore/back up thru TWRP . I could not find the back up and also the it wasn't shown in the TWRP . So I ended up having to flash a new Black Bean Rom, even though it was in my file system. Now whenever I try to download a file or app from over the internet i'm getting message that says " No SD Card" even though the sd card is installed Can anyone please give me some advice on this thank you

I would suggest doing a full wipe in your recovery (data, cache, dalvik annnnd system). This is not the same as factory reset. In TWRP you have to go to advanced wipe to wipe system. If you did this already sorry. Also on my LG Optimus G when I go from stock to AOSP a "0" folder is created that emulates the internal storage. That could be a reason why your backups and stuff aren't being found. No idea though, I don't have my TF Prime yet.

Wiping system will mean you have to re-flash your blackbean rom. Are you using TWRP? If so:
You can specify where to look for your Rom.zip. There is a dropdown bar for external sd card or internal storage. When you wipe your system, your "internal storage" remains intact. Your movies and music will remain.
It's sounding to me like in the rom chaos your sd card became corrupt. To check if your SD card is defective
- Wipe everything like I said, install your Rom of choice (preferably one that your sd card worked on before) from "internal storage"
- Reboot and see if your SD card works, if it doesn't, it's probably the card itself and not the rom:
Format your sd card to fat32 with a pc or the prompt you got on your phone (you will lose everything on the card)
If your pc can use it just fine (copy some files on and off of it) then your phone should too. If it doesn't work on your pc, your card is probably dunzo. If it does work on the pc, but not your prime, then you still got a rom issue (unlikely if you wiped everything).
Probably told you some stuff you already knew but oh well.

Problems on I9300 after updating to CM SNAPSHOT M4

Hey guys,
I have been having problems with some CyanogenMod roms lately. My I9300 was working perfectly using one of the nightly CM 11 ROM's released in early March, until I installed the latest M Snapshot. From there on in my phone has gone insane.
From time to time, during the day the phone gets blocked without any apparent reason. My first thought was that has something to do with the RAM, maybe its getting low somehow, but no, that wasn't the case. Most of the time I have at least 160-180 free ram, usually more than that.
Anyway, then I thought maybe the problem was the installed ROM, so I did a re-install but still, with no effect. Then I downloaded 17th of march nightly ROM, wiped clean the cache and reset the phone. Still with no effect.
My next solution is: Download the newest nightly, currently 18th of March, install the latest Clockworkmod Recovery, which is 6.0.4.6., reset and wipe the phone again (backing of course) and install the latest ROM. What do you guys think?
Also, does anyone else has this problem after installing the latest M-Snapshot from the CM download page.
I would much appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.
Gent
Yes. You definitely should install the latest CWM. And when you wipe, make sure that you (from the CWM menu ofc):
wipe data/factory reset
mounts and storage -> fromat system
mounts and storage -> format /data and /data/media (/sdcard)
advanced -> wipe dalvik cache
then flash the rom etc
If you didn't do this in the first place when you tried flashing the ROMs the flashes were dirty and that may be the reason why they didn't work.
Doing the above will give you a real fresh start with your ROM and problems should not appear.
So, I don't think the problem is in any of the ROMs you tried.. I'm just guessing, so correct me if you did all the above
I have been doing just fine with CM 11 M3 and M4 builds and now I'm on the latest nightly and everything is working perfectly! :highfive:
Hey Man,
I did that, but now the problem is that I cannot install the rom because it has wiped all the data that were there. Now I cannot transfer the rom into the phone. I transfered it into the external sd card but it does not let me to install it, it shows an error.
What to do now???

You should always put roms on ext sd card before you are ready to flash not internal for situations like this! Flash back to stock with odin and start again.
Connect the phone via USB cable, go to recovery, Mounts and Storage, and then click Mount USB Storage. Then, transfer the ROM. Have you thought about having the Cm instaler?

Sorry I think my reply might have confused you..I was suggesting that he should have transferred his rom to ext sd card before he started to flash and wipe system..It looks like he wiped the system in recovery and could not transfer rom to internal sd so he managed to transfer the rom to external sd where it would not let him install please correct me if I am wrong ..
I know there are other options he can try but in this situation I recommend flash to stock to give him a clean system and minimize any errors he might have and then he can try again the correct way.

That was the exact situation I was in. I tried mounting the ext/sdcard and transferred the rom to it, but it didn't let me to install it, it said installation failed.

[Q] Problem installing UltimaAOSP v1.1.1 [Valhalla]

Hello!
For some reason I am having some major trouble when I'm trying to install UltimaAOSP v1.1.1 [Valhalla] on my i9300. I have been running UltimaRom v15 for a long time now, but it has been acting up lately (the photo sphere function in the camera crashes every time it's launched and the "system UI" crashes when i try to enable the GPS), so I decided to try out UltimaAOSP.
I have followed the install instructions exactly, wipe data/factory reset and unmount cache. I have tried with and without installing GApps.
PROBLEM: When i restart the phone I can barely get past the sim password screen before stuff starts crashing (contextprovider, phone and one more that i can't remember), and It just keeps crashing over and over so I can't really do anything. When It's left alone for 30 seconds or so it restarts the phone and everything starts crashing again.
"Extra" stuff i have tried:
- Wiping cache partition
- Clearing dalvik cache
- Moving the .zip-file to the internal sd card and external sd card
- Installing V1.1, got exactly the same error(s)
I am currently using CWM 6.0.4.6
Please help? This Is driving me nuts!

Try a full wipe format in mounts and storage format the following: format/system, format/cache, format /preload, format /data, warning this will leave you without any rom so make sure you have one ready to flash on your Ext SD.
Because you are not fully wiping it is leaving files behind which interferer with your new installation (short explanation)
Also I would recommend Philz recovery which does all this for you (it as a option to wipe to install a new rom) :good:
