Camera sensor in the G5? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Will a willing G5 owner use AIDA64 and under devices identify what camera sensor LG employed in the G5? I want to buy this phone but want to know the camera is at least a small upgrade over the G4 like the S7 is over the S6

If the G5 sensor is an upgrade over the G4 like "the S7 is over the S6" then I will not consider the G5. From everything I can see of the S7 it is most definitely a downgrade next to the S6.
Interested in this topic though

I think it's a better device than the G4. I never really loved the G4 but love this G5

Phonearena has both as 16 megapixels, Aperture size F1.8, Camera sensor size 1/2.6", Pixel size 1.12 μm, laser auto focus.
I played with the GS7 and Nexus 6p, MUCH better for dark scenes and the only time 16MP looks better is bright light. And only at full resolution zoomed in, if you upload it to FB or anywhere for that matter you will loose any advantage the 16MP camera has other then using digital zoom.

[Q] Any hardware hacks for front-facing camera?

Just noticed that the Galaxy S is one phone that found a hack for a front facing camera. Of course it's a different device and everything, but I was wondering if there have been any tech-savvy members here to have looked into the possibility of a front facing camera for the HD2.

The HD2 doesn't have a front facing camera. How can software change that?
what are those two little circle lenses at the top of the phone... on the left of the ear / listening grid?
proximity sensor and light sensor
ah ok awesome!

hardware hacks Means modding equipment physically NOT via software.
With the huge screen and as thin as the HD2 is, I doubt you could find room for a front cam. From a software perspective, it wouldn't be a huge leap. But hardware-wise, it's like trying to jump the grand canyon on a ten speed

Wide Angle Camera Kit

Has anyone tried it or seen some friend using this ?
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Quick-Clip-W...S-wbr-5-/301347466272?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276
I believe this should also work for our G3 if it does for the S5.
It even supports macro mode if you rotate the lens.
Looks promising.
Also looking for a wide angle kit for rear camera something like ~120 deg. But not for macro rather for action video shots 5-10 meters (15-30 feet) from the subject. Can someone recommend a decent kit?
Is the laser AF affected by the external wide angle kit?
Does anybody know what angle is the rear camera, can't find this info anywhere?
Any chance for a sample shot with the wide angle lens from above kit.
This gets good reviews on Amazon and Blunty likes it.

Can anyone confirm whether or not these characteristics of my G5 are normal?

Hi, although my unit is not exactly a G5 (it's a G5 SE H845) I would like to know whether or not the following characteristics are normal/common:
1.

The lowest pa_therm0 temperature I saw in CPU-Z at idle (no apps opened) was 74*C. In the screenshot, there were about 5 apps (LINE, Whatsapp, Instagram, gmail, browser) opened and running in the background so the pa_therm0 temperature raised that high.
2. There is an uneven gap between the chin (the battery module) and the main body on my G5 SE with the one near the chin lock being the larger one that I can even see light coming through it. The other side is actually pretty tight that I can barely see light getting through it.
Please confirm whether or not those characteristics are normal.
Thanks in advance
I also have the G5 SE H840, the one that its being sold in latín America, but i dont have any of those issues you are mentioning, even the GPS its working as It should, i traveled like 1000km without movil data causr i had no network, but GPS worked very well, maybe your unit its an unlucky one , go to your móviles provider and ask for a change or get a refund

I can't say if this is normal or not, but my G5 also has this characteristic. The left side of the battery module sits slightly lower than the main component, making a noticeable bump. I've been wondering myself for quite some time if it was worth exchanging over.
Sorry guys I forgot to mention pa_therm0 which is a temperature parameter in CPU-Z application so I edited my first post.
Thank you anyway for confirming you earned my Thanks!

Selfie camera - any good?

Hi, Trying to upgrade to a very good selfie camera phone. I have seen very good photos of the rear camera but unable to find info or pics or reviews on the font camera. Will the Xperia X be a good buy just based on the front camera specs? Or anyother suggestions in a similar price band
i think it is good, sharp and bright images even indoors at night.
Got a lot of compliments about video quality when I was doing live video last time.

+1 I go with yeah too, the selfie camera is better than you would expect. Actually it's way better than what I personally need. Anyway, it's a very good front camera but if you really want the best sony selfie phone, go for the XA Ultra! It has the best as far as I know. Check out the X1,XA1 line of phones preferably, not the old line.
IF you want the best selfie on earth for 2017 - go for the XA Ultra. It uses the main Camera of the LG G4 - V10 on the front. Yes, you heard it right.
Exist better front cameras:

Xperia M4's rear cam is IMX214. Our front camera has the same IMX214)))
Also, it wasn't that bad. With some tweaks it was a good phone, sadly without custom ROMs

Based on Libraries and test between IMX214 (Xperia M4a) and IMX258 (Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x), our front CMOS could be the IMX258, ironically, this phone (Xperia X) use both libraries.

Lens flare problem

The flare appears while taking photos of bright objects in the dark, like candles. It can ruin a photo. I've never seen a flare like this in any smartphone camera. Does anyone have the same problem?
An example:

The candle in the upper left corner should not be exhibiting this purple flare. Really annoying.

J.J. Abrams secretly helped design the LG V30 camera.

Well, that's charming. Apple simply told it's users to point the camera at a different angle.
Still, it was in 2012. I've done a brief comparison with my girlfriend's Galaxy Note 4 and seen no flare there.
I would greatly appreciate any LG V30 user's opinion on this topic. I would like to know if it's the same in every V30, or is my unit especially faulty.
I think i found the answer.
The camera seems to be very susceptible to IR light. LG is using an IR lamp to assist autofocus, so naturally the camera has to detect it easily.
It just so happens, that a candle flame is quite hot. Because of that, it emits extensive amounts of IR light. I was able to get the same effect during the day, but it is best seen using an IR remote.
Well, nothig can be done with that as it seems. Every other phone I've used wasn't that susceptible to IR light. It certainly is a novelty to me.
