Unlocking bootloader official way - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

If I want to unlock the official way, is it only the Chinese Dev ROM that works? How do I install this ROM without bricking my device if my bootloader is locked?

With Updater App and Recovery Rom. After that unlock bootloader and your RN3Pro is free

The Updater App always gave Rom not verified error for me but I managed to flash China developer Rom with Miphone20151028 Tool and then the Miunlock finally worked.

Question about unlocking bootloader

I'm curious about how to unlock bootloader using official way on rn3p in case I've already unlocked it the unofficial way. I'm waiting for xiaomi to allow me to unlock my bootloader for 3 weeks now and nothing...so i want to unlock it using unofficial way, but I'm curious is it possible to unlock it officially after that?

I have done it the official way.
1. You get the SMS saying you can unlock.
2. Download the miunlock app.
3. Start the program and follow the instructions.
4. If you get stuck at 50% while unlocking try with China stable ROM.
Not everyone is successful in unlocking on global stable.
I couldn't and had to flash China ROM.
If you still have problems wait 2 days and then it should work.
No idea why but for most it works this way when all else fails.
It's easy enough just annoying that the process is not automated with getting the approval etc.

Got my SMS and did unlock, phone said unlocked but it is not, will not let me try again, says words to the effect that it does not need unlocking already done, what a stupid idea this was from xiaomi
I succesfully unlocked my bootloader lastweek via the unoffical way. I flashed a Xiaomi.eu Multi rom with my own language. I removed the emmc file.
Today I received a SMS from Xiaomi that my unlock request has been approved. Now I want to use the offical way to unlock the bootloader, does anyone know if I need to relock the bootloader?

Just reflash China/Global stable rom via miflash. It will relocked automatically. Then proceed to unlocking using China Developer ROM.

Are you sure about this? Won't flashing stock ROM on an unofficially unlocked bootloader brick the device? Or the brick happens only if you flash MIUI ROMs through TWRP?

Brick only happens when you flash miui rom with twrp.
If you flash it using miflash with proper procedure, it will work as I have tested and done it before.

Lets say I unlock it the official way,and later I flash Miui using miflash does it lock bootloader again or no( which would be very weird to me if it does). It's all to confusing, I'm android user 4 years now but first time Xiaomi user and this is all weird to me. Thanks

I'm not sure about that. But i think it won't relocked back as you need to use some fastboot commands to relock the bootloader again. I might be wrong though.
But i suggest you to flash miui rom using the newly modified twrp(which will not require you to modify/flash boot.img) If AND ONLY If you unlock your bootloader OFFICIALLY.

Unlock bootloader Santhosh CM13?

I ordered my phone through gearbest and it already had the bootloader unlocked so all i did was flash twrp and install custom rom. Now i want to go back to Miui but Santhosh CM13 locked my bootloader. How do i go about unlocking it? The unofficial unlocking steps assume you're on Miui already. Any help would be appreciated.
U can use the fastboot edl method ... Use official unlock to unlock bootloader once in fastboot mode and it will work.. if u have permission .. then just download fastboot miui rom n flash using mi flash

Run MiFlash with Stable or Dev fastboot rom, your choice. It doesn't require unlocking bootloader.

If you are flashing custom Rom and upgrading from Lollipop to Marshmallow than your bootloader will get locked again, but some custom Rom might not relock the bootloader. official OTA update will not lock Bootloader, but don't worry if your bootloader gets locked you can easily unlock it using unlocker tool within few minutes. I've flashed many Rom which locked my bootloader but everytime I've unlocked it using unlocker tool. we don't have to get permission for unlocking and all other stuffs again its quite easy after first unlock. Hope it helps you.

You have to check it manually by booting to fastboot mode and typing following command
Fastboot devices
Fastboot oem device-info
If your bootloader is unlocked than it will show unlocked status true & if it is locked than the status will be false.

Can't it be checked by Mi Unlock Status in developer options (if I am running stock rom)?
You can do that only in developer ROM not in stable.

LG G5 VS98730a custom rom

I just upgraded my LG G5 to Oreo and want to root using a custom rom. Does anyone know if there has been an official custom Oreo rom released for the LG G5 Verizon model and if not when one might be available. I would like to mention that I am a new to rooting.
If you want to root your phone or install a custom rom, you need to unlock the bootloader first.
Look at this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/official-european-lg-g5-h850-bootloader-t3363040
if the LG website doesn't give you the unlock.bin file, you can't root and not even install a custom rom.

How do I unlock the bootloader and where can I find the unlock.bin file on LG's website?
Verizon locks the bootloader and you can't unlock it so no twrp or root or custom rom
