LG G5 Battery drain. - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Have my G5 for a few days now and I absolutely love it. The only issue I have is with the battery drain overnight. I charge my phone to 100% then unplug it and leave it overnight, when I wake up in the morning, usually 7 hours later, the battery drops down to around 70%. Any ideas why this happens? Is anyone else experiencing these results? Anyhe help would be greatly appreciated.

I got mine yesterday, and noticed it drained faster after using quick charge, I charged it with a normal charger, and stayed at 100% for about an hour of use

Mine came with the standard LG charger, not the quick charge one.
What type of charger did yours come with?

The screen when I'm using the phone, but it shouldn't be draining it when the phone sits overnight. Right? Am I missing something here?

Maybe you have always on display enabled?

I do, but it is only supposed to use .08% of battery per hour.
Do you suppose that's the culprit? Perhaps I'll shut that display off tonight and check the results in the morning.

I believe it's .8%, so basically 1% an hour. 1% over 1 day is nearly 25% of your battery if you don't touch it - that is ONLY the screen - behind the scenes you also have the processor, radio, etc. The processor is also working harder to show the AOD. I see it as a plus, but I'd turn it off myself because I don't need it. I'd rather turn the screen on once an hour rather than having it always on.

My wife says she fully charges her G5 and I'm the morning it's 100%. She says if she gets numerous texts and phone calls (from me while I'm out working on cell sites), then it's 95%.
So I think maybe you may have a renegade app running.

I'm going to take a photo of my wife's screen after full charge (or mine since I will be activating my new G5 in a few minutes, once I finally decide whether or not to use Google cloud restore or the NFC feature to restore my old phone contents), and then another photo in the morning..

I have the UK International version and a big problem with the battery. I am on LF2. When I unplug the charger it takes about 30 secunds to go to 99% and from there rapidly down. I used juicedefender but this does not slow down the drain too much. Here are som ****s from Better Battry. Any help will be apprrciated!

It means the phone is 'bounce charging'. this means that when it is plugged in and reaches full charge it will stop and drain about 5% then start charging again. phones are designed to do this so you can leave it plugged in for as long as you like.
Here is a shot. I have the brightnest at around 75%.

Turn brightness down and don't have your screen on all the time and you'll be set.

The screen is the biggest battery drain and it is on all phones, so the higher the brightness the quicker the battery will drain. Looking at your stats you had the screen on for around an 40-60 minutes which will produce the battery use you are seeing. The S3 will give you about 3.5 hrs of screen on time tops at 75% brightness.
I use the S3 outdoors on 30-40% brightness in sunlight and it is visible so I'm not sure what you are getting at when you say you can't see it outdoors.
Who knows why the sgs2 was programmed to read 100%. In any case it was a false reading, once you unplug the charger it is physically impossible to have 100% charge, in reality it will be 99.9%...... . In my opinion the fact that the battery stats get rounded down more accurately reflects the actual charge remaining, my old sgs2 used to hang on 100% for anything upto an hour which was just plain inaccurate.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
3H26M later. I guess the bigger screen is taking much more battery juice. I was able to do a full day with S2.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Something is wrong if you can't go a day on one charge. You should easily be able to get 4-5 hours of screen on time with reasonable brightness.
Dropping to 99% once charger is disconnected is normal, was like that on the original SGS if I'm not mistaken.

Can someone explain this? (Updated)

Hi guys.
I turned off my phone to change my sim card, at that point my battery was 28%. After changing, I booted my phone up, my battery shows 18%. It's like drop 10% in 2 minutes.
*It only happens when I take off the battery and put in back on.
Normal power off and start - same battery percentage.
Power off, reinsert battery - percentage drop at least 3%.

Why is this happening?
*Additional question
My battery dropped unexpectedly during midnight what I was sleeping, I don't have any screenshot so I can just use words to explain.
2am ~ 4am - 39% to 36%
4am ~ 5am - 36% to 20%
5am ~ 9am - 20% to 14%
From 4am to 5am the number of awaken time is not high, not more than 10 times, which is normal, but it definitely dropped dramatically.
Why is this then?

"Wipe battery stats from recovery."
How do I do that?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
This is purely just an anomaly in the way the battery, and Android system interpret the information provided by the battery. If your battery level was higher, and you were able to leave your phone running for a while, you'd probably see the other anomaly related to this, which is your battery "magically" gaining charge. It is nothing to worry about really. Just charge your phone like normal and keep using the phone. The battery information gets a lot more reliable with time. As it relies on statistical information and analysis, it gets better with the more information available.
One more thing to add on.
It only happens when I take off the battery and put in back on.
Normal power off and start - same battery percentage.
Power off, reinsert battery - percentage drop at least 3%.

Normal. My S1, S2 and now S3 do this when removing the battery and at times when flashing.
In most cases when the drop was large, not using the phone for a while saw the battery % increase as if it was on charge.

how long have both you guys even owned your phone?
It doesn't look like it was up to 80%; more like 65%. Also, you seem to have had a spotty network connection over those few hours and that can really drain the battery as can playing all those games.
I have it 7 days and im charging from 0 to 100 everytime and thats not the mobile single the battrey goot eaten in 3 houers eaven with any feature off and data and wifi off brightness aaouto all animations offf and limited cpu to 3 prosses still eaten in 3 houers
Ok heres the thing. Your numbers are wrong first off. You cell signal is weak. You have at least two THD games that you probably never exited correctly and some crappy live wallpaper running. Quadrant used 2% of you battery? What did you do, run 20 times in a row? Same with Youtube. You main culprit is your Media Server which tells me you were listening to music while gaming or such. Probably this whole time you are running with full brightness as well. And yes your signal was running and searching or airplane mode would be visible. Also wifi uses wayyyyy less power than your 3G/LTE so use it when you can. The device while capable of playing high end games, is not a gaming platform/dedicated system so why are you complaining like it should be.
Your battery life surely sucks. Btw, don't wait until 0%, you should charge earlier than that.

OK guys so I see people getting 7-9hrs screentime on 4g and I don't nearly get that. In just 32minutes of use I lost 7%. I'm on 3g no WiFi gps or BT. Here are some screenshots. I tried clean ROM and jellybeanz with Perseus and stock kernels. Any idea? I'd like as much screen time as possible.

This may sound rediculous but I notice somedays my battery runs down a lot quicker than other days. Doesnt make sense but thats how it seems to me. Are you using the cable that came with the phone and plugging into a wall outlet?
3g eats a lot more battery from what I have seen...LTE and Wifi are the easiest on battery. That being said I still don't think 3g should be causing that much drain...I bet you have a rogue app since the app usage shows 50%

Download better battery stats and grant it super user rights. Let your phone sit for a couple hours (without touching it) and pay your read out from it here. It seems like you have an app going crazy, but just simply looking at your installed apps won't help.

OK just installed it. No idea how to use it though. What shouldbibscreenshot?

how many hours of screen usage on 4g do you get?
Thanks
Open it to grant super user. Then let your phone sit for at least an hour or two. It's best overnight. Then post your kernel wake lock, partial wake locks and alarms.

You had the phone on for 9hrs and only dropped to 93%? Why r u complaining.? 40 minutes screen time at 93% after 9hrs off charger isn't bad at all. If I'm seeing that right.
thats correct, but while using it for a straight 60mins, it drops over 15%

What setting do you recommend? My phone is slow after I enabled it.

How can I get it so app ends when back button out of it? I always have to force close them which apps like xda might hurt battery. Or only way is to go to settings and force close?

Between 38 and 65 %.
About the norm for me.
Verizon LG V10
Brightness at a solid 19%, 57% usage, for 4hrs 12min
sent on xda pro with Hugz from my new fully stock, non-rooted VZW LG V10 VS990 which an old faithful still working Rezound helped me to afford to get
I get a little under 4 hours with brightness max or near max. Never use low brightness much so don't know how much that number would go up if I did.
After using the debloater software mentioned in the att v10 forums and disabling 59 system apps I get over 6hrs screen on time every cycle. That's with Wifi connected almost 100% of the time too. Coming from the m8 with custom everything and xposed I thought for certain my heart would be aching for root..... Not the case at all! This phone is a BEAST! Haven't even fired up the m8 once since the v10 hit my hands!

My screen-on time is killing my battery hardcore. I need to wipe my phone and start over. I haven't wiped since I took the MM update, and its tanking big time. Screen on accounts for about 50% or more of my battery drain.
I wiped my phone a few weeks after installing M. It helps but I notice that I do have to charge or insert my second battery more than usual. No big. The V10 is still a great device.

First day on the V10. Not doing too bad. Been on it a lot. Notice I still have 51% left.

Wow, I'm lucky to get 3 hours. I couldn't last through the day on one battery, even with moderate use.
Got the phone in December. I have never had anything less than 3.5 to 4 hours (except when using Nav on long trips)
