Battery Drain in OxygenOS 2.2.1-x - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I started this topic because of battery drain in the OxygenOS rom. As you see in my post of 2804, 8:48 pm the phone drains the battery by 31 % a day when idling at one physical location. I'm trying to find out the root cause and solve this. When using the phone a lot i get a 4-5 hour SOT, but when idling .... nothing that impressive. At first i expected the mobile radio active bug to be the cause, but now that's solved (by upgrading to OOS2.2.1-x) i'm wondering again what's causing this.
Solved: Mobile Radio Active bug
Old post: I'm back from CM13.x using OOS 2.2.1 for a few days now. It's by no doubt a fine manufacturer rom. But I think it has the Mobile Radio Active bug, at least on my phone. When i reverted from CM13 i formatted all partitions for a real clean flash, than downloaded this rom from pc via twrp and installed it (not wiping cache or dalvik) and restarted. Below images show my battery menu. I used the screen a lot, otherwise it would have been still lower in the rank. Does anyone else have this on OOS 2.2.1?

yes, it will be on every 5.1.1 rom, as i know it was fixed in marshmallow

Try wipe cache and dalvik cache

It's not fixed in CM13.x. That's one of the reasons i came back to OOS 2.2.1

I did (wiped cache, the only option the stock recovery gave). It will take a day or some to verify it it's over. But, do you have this Mobile Radio Active?

After wiping cache in stock recovery I recharged the battery and confirmed it's not yet solved. (see attached images). The idle power consumption is still to high i believe.

I'll now do a factory reset and check.
Does anyone else have this? How is your idle power consumption compared to mine?

The factory reset doesn't resolve this. Isn't there really anyone else on OOS2.2.1 with this issue??

I can thankfully say I do not have this issue and I am also on OOS 2.2.1.

I've now factory resetted my OPX OOS 2.2.1 and installed a 2nd sim (oops 2 changes at once...). Now I have a lot shorter Mobile Radio Active times. However the battery drain in idle didn't decrease at all. Because it's so high I keep posting screenshots in the hope it grabs more attention. It's mostly the android system causing this, I've barely any app installed. :crying:

I am not sure. I think its not a bug. Its because your network is not very good so the mobile radio is searching for network which leads to battery drain.

Well, maybe you're right, but this is quite extreme (see pictures below). I see today OOS 2.2.1-x came out, and I'm installing it as soon as possible.

There is no solution for this. One thing which is consistent with this is that it happens over mobile data, does not happen over Wi-Fi. This is bug from google play services. I have used almost all ROMs and all have the same issue. And it's not only limited to our device. Search on Google and you will know. Fixes are just hit and trial nothing as permanent fix.

Solved: mobile radio active bug
I upgraded to OOS 2.2.1-x ... and the Mobile radio active bug is gone!
The battery drain not at all, however. Therefore I'm renaming this toppic, and keeping it alive.
I was expecting the mobile radio to cause the battery drain, but... see the attachements.
And in the second picture you see that the cellular network signal is not too good, however in all the attachments, right top you see the HSDPA connection is not that bad. The phone has always been at the same place, these two days.

I left only Bluetooth opened overnight (about 7 hours) and battery was done by 25%. I wanted to test xiaomi mi band during sleep. Is it normal? I am running 2.2.1 oos
Strangely enough the Bluetooth computation was shown as 1% while 15% was the GPS consumption. As I said I am pretty sure I left GPS off, as never need it.

I'm from the Netherlands, but when you go to downloads.oneplus.net the recommended Oneplus X rom is 2.2.1-x so i don't think it's specifically for these countries.

I made a support ticket for this at oneplus. link here: https://oneplustech.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/608917
At home i don't have 4G reception, but i do have 3G reception. So I set the prefered network type to 3G, but this didn't help.
I'll keep you informed.

"Google play services " drains happened on many occasions on many devices.
You could try to go to wipe data application of "google service framework" "google play store", Google play services"
On the last one, you can try to uninstall updates desactivate and reactivate.
For some, switching primary google account worked.
What is synchronized in your google account ? Did auto-back up is ON?
Some had to use a root app to stop this behaviour.
PS : 2.2.1-x don't change anything about that.

Thanks for the tips. I did the wipe data of the 3 apps, and next days will show if it worked. (Else I can try the uninstall re-install. )

FXP41+ Data Loss Bug Hunt (Bug Squashed)

Bug issue has been solved as if FXP45. Thanks to all who helped track this nasty critter down.
I've been asked to start up a thread specifically for tracking down the data loss bug in FXP41,42 and 43. I'm currently one of the very few that are not suffering from this problem.
Background
The data loss issue is when your wifi or 3g status indicators still show you as being connected to the internet and Google (green indicators) but no data is transferred. A reboot of the phone will restore data for a limited period of time before the same thing occurs again. After a fresh install, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours for data loss.
For those that have the problem nothing tried so far as been able to rectify the problem for any length of time and for those of us that don't have the problem we can't duplicate it.
What needs to be done
We need to find some common denominator between the devices / users that are having this problem that is also something that none of the working devices / users don't have. If you have anything to add that you've tried to do to duplicate the problem or fix the problem please post or PM me with the details and I'll keep this OP up to date.
What been tried to duplicate problem on working devices
1. Fresh install - Nope
2. Market update / downgrade - Nope
3. Forcing sync - Nope
4. Factory data reset and login with different account - Ongoing
What's been tried to fix the problem
1. Fresh install - Nope
2. No Gapps - Nope
3. Market downgrade - Nope
What still need to be tested (suggestions please)
1. Working device/user create a different Google account and test with that.
2. Who is using 2 step verification and do they have problem or not.
3. Compare results of a clean install using the same account on a working and not working phone. (I have account setup PM me for login if you want to help test)
This should get the ball rolling, I'll add some more is a couple of hours once I get my head in gear.
I've had the problem today. I didn't try to format the sdcard first, but maybe it helps. I can't try it until next week at least
Enviado desde mi X10i usando Tapatalk
I was on this rom (fxp041) for a while, it was at least two weeks before i got the data bug. I'll have another go tomorrow installing the latest version fresh. I'll experiment to see what causes it. Hopefully report back tomorrow with some report.
cheers, lunar.

I've just done a factory data reset and setup the phone using a different gmail account that I created for this test. If I loose data then maybe it's account related.
Well, I have tried two different google accounts, so either both of my accounts are screwed, or it isn't something tied to the Google account. However, it didn't happen to me UNTIL I installed the GApps addon package either time - first time I installed the ROM, had data no problem for about 3 hours, then was like "Whoops, wait a minute, need my Gmail / Market apps", so I installed the package and lost it. Second time, installed both, had net, did a Market download of a few apps, checked gmail, worked fine for about half an hour, then went kaput. Did the second time with a DIFFERENT google acct.
Hi,
The data bug began for me with the fxp30b release. I tested so many things to tackle that nasty bug.

FXP043 also have data bug. I will use stock or VMOD version later.
Hi GBD,,
I have tried everything you have in the op and nothing has worked for me too, also you can rule using a new account as i have tried that too even on a fresh install.
I thought that when market updated it was that causing the issue but yesterday i froze the marketupdater app with titanium, signed in, and the problem still occurred. In fact before signing into google the phone had worked fine for several hours with no data issues.
I wonder if Crowds has found the solution here..

Maybe we do have a fix so waiting now for good news.
I have gone back to fxp030 for now as i need my phone for work.

Can someone test this out. Do a fresh install and as soon as you boot up and connect to your google account, manually set your time to 11:59pm and allow it to roll over to the next day.
The market should update when the roll over occurs and if it's the cause, you'll loose data at that time.

Did fresh install of FXP043, after first boot up connected with account, selected some Gapps to install, at that time it automatically synced. Connected to wifi to download gapps faster, after that changed time to 11:59 pm (decided to stay on edge, no wifi). 2 minutes later there was new market, and everything worked just fine. Visited some websites, changed to wifi and back. Data still working. I can't reproduce data issue...
I came from FXP030b in which data was also working for me(had few issues at the beggining first but then data was working fine)

Maybe it's kernel related? Maybe you can try flashing fxp30's kernel over fxp43 and test?
I'm running FXP43 and just encountered data loss but found a solution (at least in my case, not sure if it's 100% effective for everyone).
What I did:
- Went into Dev Tools > Bad Behavior > Crash the system server
- Screen seemed to freeze but I let it sit for a good 30+seconds to see if it would become responsive
-After no response I pulled the battery and removed my sd & sim cards for 30+seconds then replaced them
-Booted my device and data is back
If anyone tries this method and it helps I'd appreciate the THANKS!

Dude, this isn´t neccesary and doesn´t solve the problem. After a reboot data is always back but disappears again after a while. There´s no need to crash the system server.
has anyone tried to flash new gapps (this) instead of the one provided in the post?

[Q] How to debug a MTK6573

Hello,
I'm experiencing a battery drain in a Dapeng A7. Sometimes the battery charge decreases even though it's plugged to the charger.
I can see that when it happens the wifi don't switch off, even though I have set it in the settings, and it fact some times it does.
I have get some logcat but the only thing I noticed was just several ACTION_BATTERY_CHANGED, but without timestamp.
I would need some extra information, combining top, with logcat, and some more command you will suggest for sure.
I have rooted the phone, so any command will be available.
Any suggestion? Meanwhile I'm testing some battery savers.
Thank you
Some more information would be useful are you using a custom recovery like Clockworkmod or stock recovery are you using the stock ROM or something like Cyanogenmod it could be hardware causing the issue like dying/dead charger or dying/dead battery or it could be software with Clockworkmod you can clear battery stats have you tried turning off everything from Wi-Fi (Already mentioned), 3G Mobile Data, Bluetooth, Network Location, GPS etc to see if it had any affect on the battery maybe you could try searching an App to do these things if Android is bugged as a temporary solution.

Thank you for the answer.
I have just rooted the device with its stock ROM, but I havent found any reference about installing Cyanogenmod or Clockworkmod.
Anyway, I have experienced this leakage after a factory reset, disabling wifi and 3G, ... I have tried to locate which app can be battery consuming, but without success. Well, one of them, I don't remember, always says that it was Google Calendar sync. Can be gapps?
Moreover, now I have been reading a French forum and I'm not alone
http://ciphone.fr/blog/blog1.php/dapeng-a7-5-en-test
However no one has a clear answer. Perhaps is the charger problem, but I have tested with diferent cables and chargers.
And the worst thing that sometime charging works fine.
Do you happen to know if there is any command like logcat but with a timestamp in each line?
Thank you

[Q] gpsd drain even while GPS off?

Hi!
I have been having an issue with my S III lately. For some time I have been trying to understand and configure my gps settings so that I could have gps always activated, without it draining the battery too heavily. I mainly tried manipulating my apps' location settings.
With no consistent results, I ultimately decided to try and turn gps off altogether in the pull down bar. Now, here's the issue; even with gps off, both the stock battery tool and GSam Battery Monitor report a 25% battery drain by "gpsd".
What am I doing wrong, and what can be done about it?
Thanks!
Stock S III, 4.1.2, unrooted.
Didn't wipe data when you upgraded?
Wipe the data of the service responsible.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Thanks! If you are referring to the Android update, I simply installed it without wiping anything.
What exactly would wiping data entail?

I am pretty sure I disabled everything connected with Google and location...
Sorry for posting in the wrong place, will do next time!
it seems there is a bug in gpsd. sometime it hangs at 100% cpu (25% -> 1 of 4 cores) you can check this in shell with "top" cmd
if it hangs only a reboot help.
you will notice a bit lag when you switch your phone on and it gets a bit warm when this happens
for me it happens once every 1-4 days and i have allready disabled all google location settings and samsung security settings
any idea ? i dont find anything else on google.
btw. it looks like this started happen with XELLA but cant say it for sure
/inteks
That sounds exactly like the issue I have been having, especially it happening only one in every few days.
I can confirm that it seems to have had a definitive starting point, but not sure what changes I made at that point. What do you mean by XELLA? And are any other ways of telling when this happens?

Android 6.0 shutting down data connection (Wifi and mobile data) in standby

I am not sure if this is a 6.0 problem or the problem of my new umi super so please excuse that try finding answers here first. Calls and Calender notifications are still comming throught but i recieve a billion whatsapp messages at once when turning on the screen. any ideas? i have never used clean 6.0 just sultan roms up to know, so i cant really say if this is a basic problem, an umi problem or just settings i screwed up.

With root you might be able to. It would depend on where it is in the code. Make sure to double check all data connections. Make sure they are not set to be disabled when screen is off.
I would contact them and see if they have the kernel source somewhere. Explain to them what is going on and maybe they will help fix it. (don't count on this option)

Update process...OK
Bugs: LAUNCHER error
I have no launcher error, I also installed apex launcher and it works perfect...only thing I see so far is rapid battery drain while on standby...
Android 6 Working OK
No Launcher error after upgrade, but in Lollipop i have Nova Launcher prime installed as default. After the upgrade, Nova Launcher still is the default Launcher.
NO battery problems too... in fact, the battery is working better now after the upgrade.
A minor issue, when connect the phone to the computer via USB cable, always connect like "Only Charge Battery", i have to switch manually to "Transfer data"... nothing to worry...

after i upgraded to android 6 the charging don't work well, the batery charges very slow!!! i already did hard reset and doesn't fix it. what i can do
That's the same problem I'm having ....charge your phone and put it down for a few hours, the battery will drain drastically! That didn't happen before! The charge time is incredibly slower!
How to recover update menu? I deleted OTA for not working. Any way to reinstall or I have to wipe and install Stock rom?
You gonna have to do a factory Reset...

Works fine. Only problem is Launcher error
The update has been a total disaster for me. The battery drains out amazingly fast. The sound suddenly dissapears while using it for a couple of hours (all the sounds: i.e. alarm, incoming calls, sms, mms, etc.) so I keep restarting it every 2 hours or so, to avoid this issue. Also, the charging time is extremely slow.

After updating to Marshmallow my Blu Vivo 5 is presenting battery drain (mainly by idle phone/stand by and Wi-Fi processes) and problems on frontal cam focus.
I tried hard reset twice, cleaning app cache and system cache, which solved temporarily the frontal cam problem (returned automatically after 2 days).
Battery drain continues dispite of the battery calibration and an app which controls Wi-Fi when the cellphone is idle. Battery before the update lasts 23 - 28 hours. Now, between 10 and 16 hours.
Total disaster.

Also notice that some apps that use to work perfectly are not. Have a profile scheduler app that does not change the profile in background anymore I need to actually open the app for it to change still trying to figure if it's good enough to open b4 the scheduled change

My battery draining issue solved....
You can solve this by using your cell phone until the battery is completely dead...use it until it is powered down completely (shuts off). Then connect your charger and get it to 100%...
That worked for me....hope it works for you as well ☺
