"Couldn't verify update" - How to fix this? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

So I downloaded V7.1.8.0.LHOMICL Global Version, placed into Internal Storage but when I update it via Updater it shows "Couldn't Verify Update".
Plugged it into laptop and went to Mi PC Suite and it says I'm on latest version "v7.1.9.0.0.LHOCNCL"(I think this is custom software used by the sellers).
How do i install Global Rom V7.1.8.0.LHOMICL?
Edit: I'm using SD650 variant

Try Mi Flash tool method, worked for me, when I was switching from China ROM to Global. First I switched to China developer ROM, then - to Global stable. For flashing via Mi Flash you'll need ROM with *.tgz extention if I remember correctly. And of course you need to put the phone to bootloader state (adb reboot edl), don't forget to install drivers - I presume, that you are using Windows?

Whats your rom build number?

Having the same issue on my rn3 SD version. Tried all steps but no use!

If the updater method won't work, then please strictly follow the method in post #4 in this thread.
You have to flash your phone under edl mode in windows 64bit environment.
Also, if you experience the error message "Not enough storage error in MiFlash Tool" during flashing, don't be panic. You should search MiFlash 2016 03 30 at miui.com. This version of Miflash will resolve the issue.

The Simple Way!!!

Well, after all options tried, I did this...
1. Go to the MI ROM download page en.miui.com/download-301.html
2. In the developer rom section, click on the previous versions tab and download the last available version...Version: 6.8.18
3. Now connect your phone to the PC and copy the file in to Root of the Internal memory
4. With the phone connected to the PC, open updater app and select the package and click update
5. The phone will start getting the info and the warning on ERASE DATA Will appear.... BINGO, the previous developer rom will get updated...
Now download the latest developer rom and update it in the same process!!!!!
For me it worked...others may please try and give your comments!!!!

And if the MiFlash tool doesn't properly install because Win 10 sucks? Then how are we to fix this issue? Any ideas?

Trouble with flashing official Xiaomi stable ROM on Redmi 3

Hi y'all!
I'm really having trouble flashing an official stable rom on my device. The rom archive is miui_HM3_V7.3.2.0.LHPCNDD_6a5e1bc33c_5.1.zip.
I downloaded it and copied it to a folder (downloaded_rom) on the internal storage of my redmi 3. After selecting it in the updater app I get asked whether it's OK to delete all data, because the rom I'm updating to is older than the one installed. My phone's miui version is MIUI 77. Stable 77.1.1.0 (LHPCNCK). The doble 7s seem odd to me and may be part of my problem (I bought the phone like that). Then, the device is rebooting and I can see some kind of progression bar for a couple of seconds on the botton of the screen but then it just reboots into android and nothing changed
I also tried to flish it via Mi PC suite. Here, after connecting the device in fastboot mode, I got the message that my device isn't supported.
I also believe that the bootloader is locked and I already got the "permission" from xiaomi to unlock it but I had no luck with this either. The Mi unlock tool is telling me, that the "current account is different from the account info on the device" which wasn't the case after I double checked.
Am I missing something here?
kind regards
lunatikk
yes.
because you are currently in modified rom (rom supplier or seller, etc, etc) you cannot update or do anything about it
flash the official rom using miflash method
after that you can update using updater program

I'll try that and report back. Thanks!
Okay, finally I managed to flash my phone with the newest miui.eu rom. What I did was:
- Flashing the official Xiaomi Rom (MiFlash package) via MiFlash (1st try in Win32 wasn't working. 2nd try on Win64 did the job)
- I had to update to the newest official stable OTA, because somehow, I wasn't able to unlock my bootloader with the older version.
- I unlocked the bootloader using the MiFlashUnlocker.
- Updated to the official MIUI 8 dev rom using updater app on my phone
- On dev rom I granted root acces to flashify and flashed the twrp recovery image on my device (which gets wiped from my device every time I reboot - anyone knows why??)
- Reboot into recovery and flash the MIUI.eu zip which is now running on my device.
Thanks for the help guys!
Hi.
I am having the same problem, with pre-installed rom: MIUI 77.1.1.0 Stable. The updater app obviously doesn't work (now i know why) and the MiFlash software doesn't seem to work either. It doesn't recognise the phone, browsing to the downloaded rom does nothing. Am i missing something?
Update, it now recognises the phone, but miflash is saying it can't find the file specified (0x80070002: Execute flash_all.bat)
Thanks for any assistance you can give.
Update 2. Just found out you need a different version of the Rom for fastboot. available from http://en.miui.com/a-234.html for anyone searching.
Okay so Miflash began the process when i had the Fastboot rom, but failed at about 2 percent as the device is locked.
Although i have permission the Mi unlock tool won't unlock my phone as it says the accounts don't match that on the phone, although i have quadruple checked them.
Research suggests it might be a problem with the custom rom on my phone, or that i need to be on the China Dev rom to unlock?
But i can't flash the China Dev Rom!!!
Is there any way to get my device to stock rom?
Sorted.
For the benefit of anyone searching, i followed the instructions here: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=redirect&goto=findpost&ptid=242867&pid=4510751

I don't think so, If you're already on dev - you need to perform the steps 5 to 7. If it didn't work, try to log into your account with your phone number(for account on your phone,i.mi.com and MIFlashUnlock tool) - also check your mi account info, the country you choose should be the same as you phone number, don't choose another country!

I understood that from your first reply,no,you don't need to downgrade. It's recommended to do this unlocking process on the latest rom. just follow my last comment, specially logging from your phone number not your email into your account...also perform factory reset just to be 100% sure.
for comprehensive information about the unlocking process, check the forum on en miui and look for the following threads :

INSTRUCTIONS: [redmi note 3]
1. Get into fastboot mode. Charge the phone first. Hold the power button and the volume down button simultaenously.
2. If you can open your current rom, open developer options by clicking on the build no several times in the about phone menu in settings. and select allow oem unlocking and usb debugging.
3. if not leave it... go on and connect your phone to the PC while in fastboot mode.
BUT, before that: open Command prompt on your PC. (search it on the search box). right click on it and open it in administrator mode.
type in: bcdedit /set testsigning on
hit enter and restart your pc
(this is imp.)
4. open the zip file and extract the contents. open the boot edl mode folder and click the edl.bat file. allow it to run.
5. now screen will turn black, do not disturb it. Now flash the twrp by running flash twrp.bat from the 'flash TWRP' folder.
6. Now go to Unlock folder and run the unlock bootloader.bat file.
your phone will boot into the TWRP recovery mode automatically.
if it opens in chineese you select every tab and find the globe icon.
if the globe icon is found on any of the tab select it and change the language to ENGLISH.

Now if you want to install any other ROM like cm13
Procedure for ROM installation
wipe your system from the wipe tab:
Now download the latest CM13 SNAPSHOT BUILD ROM FOR YOUR REDMI:
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/kenzo-snapshot.zip
and GAPPS:
http://opengapps.org/?api=6.0&variant=mini
do select the arm 64 version and mini one.
download from your pc and copy it to micro sd card. enter this card into you phone and go to mount in twrp.
mount the micro sd card storage.
select the zip file on the micro sd card from the install tab on twrp and flash it.
now go back and flash open gapps zip file.
now REBOOT to system. everything will work fine

Official method is worst. Its not like Motorola who gives unlock code within a min.
Try unofficial above method

Yes you need to flash a ROM. Whether it is official miui 8 or beta miui 8 or any custom ROM. Cm13 and RR v5.8.0 7.1-N is better.
Now if you need your ROM back with twrp and root access. Just install miui 8 official ROM through twrp and don't try to change the recovery its the safe twrp I provided with. And its important for unofficially unlocked bootloaders like you.
Since it is official miui 8 so it will block your bootloader but to prevent this just install universal boot image patcher after installing this ROM.
You can find it on net and after that reboot and install. Now to get root access download and install SuperSU zip from net via twrp and reboot.

[SOLVED] Tried restoring a original firmware to my Redmi note 9s but I'm unable to.

Hello, I'm having trouble restoring my Redmi note 9s to the stock firmware, basically I installed a custom rom but I want to revert back to stock since it has annoying problems and I'm fed up dealing with them.
I tried downloading a stock firmware and installing it with official Xiaomi tools but I just can't install them for my life, even got a bootloop, thought bricked the phone and that scared me lol. (it failed to install the stock firmware halfway)
My problem relies on the official tool not working and the drivers not working, the tool detected my phone after troubleshooting for like 4 hours searching a driver and trying all the Xiaomi flash tool versions I found, but it just won't install the official firmware, always giving some error.
If anyone here is kind enough to maybe direct me to a guide that works or just tell me what worked for them that would be appreciated, I just want to finally install Global firmware on my phone.
Thanks!

If it's showing timeout error you may try miflash 2018 version. If it bootloop after flashing try miui 14 stock rom.

Okay, just so you know, I installed a miui custom rom from here and have been running that since, so I will need to back up my phone, install miflash and try to finally get back into the stock rom.
When I'm done with that I'll try installing the stock firmware and post it to you

The last time I tried it was the miui 13 but it was not a timeout error, it was weird, I think it detected my phone and all that but when it started installing, it gave out an error when it was maybe half way and hung, luckily I have a custom recovery so I realized I didn't brick it and just installed a custom miui 13 rom from here
Btw I'm not sure if there's miui 14 for the redmi 9s (thats a official stock firmware), all the sites I get to are sketchy lmao

Try batch flashing via fastboot. Paste adb and fastboot.exe in image folder then click on flash_all.bat
MIUI 14 is out for global I'm using it. I also faced bootloop while flashing from cusrom to stock. Then i flashed all miui 11 versions it was still bootloop then flashed MIUI 14 it booted. Currently I'm on MIUI 14 SJWMIXM

Win 10, a few updates missing but basically up to date.
If my pc is the problem I have a laptop, which I never connect my phone to, that I can try on. It's on win 10 too but I haven't updated in a while since I don't use it often

This is what I have, I'm even using the original cable that my phone came with, which is brand new since I don't use it to charge it in everyday use.
One is unplugged, one is with it in fastboot mode
