while keeping phone for long time in pocket... finger print does not unlock phone - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

while keeping phone for long time in pocket... finger print does not unlock phone

It is because your phone is pressed against your leg when it is in the pocket. The fingerprint reader keeps registering these presses as unlock attempts, and since it can't register a fingerprint after a few (i think 3) attempts, it disables unlocking by fingerprint and forces you to enter a password/PIN. Keep the phone with the screen pressed against your leg in your pocket to avoid this.

Unlock with fingerprint in one step ( immediatly avoiding display to turn on )

Hello guys, let's start saying that I own an LG G5 se, only because LG couldn't repair my N5x and gave me that...
Until "yesterday", I was used to unlock with my phone by just pulling the phone from my pocket while touching the fingerprint sensor, so by the time necessary to reach "my view/eyes" it was ready to go! And this habit is a die hard!
Now with the G5 se it's a pain: for my understanding the fingerprint sensor needs to have the screen powered on in order to work, so it result in waiting time or "double tap" the sensor as I'm used to touch it while pulling out from the pants!
So.... Is there a way to prevent the touch sensor from "sleeping" so I can unlock faster my phone like my old beloved N5x?
maybe some adb command, an app, but nothing that involves root as it's not available

On my H850 G5 I place finger on reader and it unlocks, even when off. Maybe it's an issue on SE or settting?

Are you saying that if you have the phone in your pocket and you touch ( not push ) the fingerprint you have the haptic feedback and the phone is unlocked and turned on?
I'm not having this (wanted) behavior, and I'm starting to think that it could be a feature/design, OR it could be something related to deep sleep that somehow disables fingerprint scanner.
I have no clue..

The unlock will not work in your pocket as the fingerprint reader is disabled due to the proximity sensor. If I pull the phone out and slide finger onto reader it unlocks. Having the unlock work in pocket would not make sense.

Ok, so it's a feature not a bug, it has 1-2 sec of delay until the proximity recognize that is pulled out... It is simply different from my N5X.
Thank you for helping me to "debug" this problem!

Lg G5 wake up and proximity sensor problems.

Hi all.
I received my g5 a week ago as a replacement for nexus 6p which had inFamous early shutdown fault.
For first 4 days i loved g5, but on 5th day i started having problems with unlocking device from sleep.
I don't use tap to wake but fingerprint scanner. no screen protectors or case either.
As mentioned first day gave me more or less 1sec response from placing finger to unlocked device. But later it took 5-6 seconds, sometimes pressing power button was helping, and sometimes not. Generally 'always on screen' have to pop up for fingerprint scanner to work properly, but sometimes even after always on screen shows up it take 5 sec for fingerprint scanner to unlock device.
If i lock device and right after i'l try to unlock it with fingerprint scanner it works flawless. but if phone is locked for a few minutes problem comes back.
In addition to that i have noticed that when i make a phone call; take it from ear and put phone in front of my eyes screen lights up after 5-6 seconds a few seconds slower that my wife's 4 year old nexus 5.
I did factory reset. No change. i checked proximity sensor and testing software showes that everything is fine.
Does any of you had something similar?

Fingerprint scanner not working when always on display is off

Did you guys notice that you cannot unlock the phone when the always on display is off ?
Eg. You're keeping the phone in the pocket, you reach for it and take it out. The display hasn't yet fired up (while the phone is in the pocket the AOD is inactive) and at the same time you put your finger on the scanner. This should wake and unlock the phone at the same time but instead only the AOD comes up and screen is not being unlocked.
You can simulate this by locking the phone, covering the front sensors with eg your finger until the AOD turns it self off. Then place your finger on the scanner. The phone should get woken up and unlocked but it stays locked and off.
Anybody knows how to fix it ?
I dont use AOD ..... and mine works fine.
Relax. This is by design to keep it from waking up in your pocket, bag or whatever when you reach in for something else. You'd be even madder if you took your phone out only to find it had been woken up in your pocket and took 106 photos and placed four phone calls and sent texts to your friends that made them call the police because they thought you had a stroke.
It's not that I'm worried about accidental wake ups...
There's a delay between the phone enabling the fingerprint sensor after uncovering the front light sensors etc. which makes the phone to not register the touch on it for unlocking.

And now you know why it does that. You might not be worried about accidental wake ups but most people would probably be highly annoyed to take their phone out and find it firing off 20 photos. of pocket lint.

Question Finger print sensor responsiveness

Has anyone else had issue with the finger print sensor responsiveness, in particular with unlocking the phone. Sometimes it is super sensitive and I unlock the screen on accident and then sometimes its completely unresponsive and I have to unlock via PIN.
Usually after unlocking with PIN, finger print sensor works fine for unlocking.
I can confirm this behavior. XQ-BC52 with 61.0.A23.20

I've had the same problem with with older xperia 1, XZ and pretty much all the phones with fingerprint sensor.
when my finger are cold, when in the summer i'm a little sweaty, after eating something i have difficulty in unlocking phones. it's. a limit of fingerprint sensor.
also if for work you ruin a little your finger sometimes you have to register again a new fingerprint

Same here, also on the same model and firmware. But as opposed to @Evil_Sephiroth , I never had such issues on my older phones (Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 9).
However, the fingerprint sensor seems to be a bit more consistent than how it was in September when I first got my Xperia 1 III. I hope they'll continue to improve it since it is still very inaccurate and frustrating.
Also, since the fingerprint sensor is always on, it would be nice if we could expand the status bar with a swipe on the fingerprint sensor. This was possible on my old Note 9 and it would be a nice feature on the Xperia 1 III since it's a really long phone.
