Why cant we port a rom? - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been lurking here for a couple of months now waiting for cyanogen or a AOSP to be ported to the honor 7 but ive noticed that any one that try's it has problems. The honor 7 is my first android phone (I used to have a iPhone) so id really like to try and stay up to date with whats happening on the honor 7 so that i can understand the inner workings of android a little better. So my question is what is the biggest issue with the honor 7? Is it related to the kernel or just getting experienced dev's to port rom's to the honor 7? (Im not saying the people working on the H7 are not experienced im just saying there are not many)

To buy honor 9 or not ?

Hello, i would like to ask huawei users if they suggest me to buy honor 9 or better go to another phone?
- What i noticed from the forums that there are a lot of bugs and issues people are having with honor 9, and waiting for updates to fix them.
- Also, comparing it to other brands like samsung or lg, the forum doesn't have much support of devs, in terms of customs roms or fixes in case of issues ?
- Also so many people are reporting the customer support/service, is really bad compared to other brands? and hard to find how to repair a huawei phone ? is it true?
I m actually thinking of S8, so please, can you tell me about your experience and opinion?
Well i have a honor 9 and I'm happy with it. But the galaxy s8 is obviously way better in every single point

Tutoring how to port a device to a later version of Android?

Hi
I'm a programmer with around 10 years experience and wanna get into ROM/Kernel development. But its pretty hard since I've been doing very different stuff (mostly Java/Xamarin stuff)
More precisely I want to learn how to port Android 6/7 into the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - I own this device and there are only buggy (Kernel/driver bugs) opensource ROMs running Android 6 (note that this is an x86 device).
So I am looking for tutoring to learn how to do it - think of 2-3 hours weekly via Skype or something similar (for money of course) Anyone up to this? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

what about an android 10 port for nexus 9 wifi

hello iwas just wondering if ther e could be abring up ofan android 10 port for nexus 9. as hte are other port bring up for ohte older devices and tablets. Jus twondering if its possible ornot.
Vartom had commented that there are driver issues with the Nexus 9 as it is and making it work fully with Android 8.1 is difficult as it is. It's likely it would be even more difficult to get things working with later versions without Treble
It would actually be fairly easy to build a recent AOSP for N9. In particular, the master branch of AOSP has some really cool pieces in place -- recent version of mesa3d, drm_hwcomposer, gralloc_gbm.... the only parts of the N9 that likely would create trouble would be the cameras. But you can't really use the cameras on a tablet anyway because you look like a moron doing so.
Note that Treble is NOT a requirement for building AOSP for N9. Previous poster is confused because its a requirement for devices that FIRST SHIP WITH certain versions of Android, in order to qualify for inclusion of google blobs. This requirement does not apply at all to N9 for THREE reasons;
1) No need for certification because you aren't trying to sell it.
2) N9 first shipped with Android 5.
3) Nothing applies to custom firmware.
Or now Android 11 for Nexus 9 ???!!!!

MiUI 12

So, i've been using MiUI 11 on my A3 for a few weeks, and i have to say, it's flawless. Before that, on every phone i had i always used AOSP ROMs, and i'm impressed with this one.
The last MiUI i used was probably version 9 on my RN4 mido, and they have gone very far with the improvements.
Since the development has stopped from xiaomi, it would be great if we would get a MiUI 12 port from cc9.
So, my question is, is there a plan on porting the upcoming UI, and what are the chances that it will be based on android 10 ?
