Buy this or the dual sim variant - H962 - Verizon LG V10

Going to get a V10. Should I get this or the H962. I am looking for the one with a bigger community support and the one with faster updates and less bloat. I will be using it with H2O. Is there an advantage to get the verizon variant than the H962.

Development difference International vs North American variants?

I just want to know how different the development will be for the international version compared to either the Canadian/US version (which presumably will be the same with S4 & 2GB RAM). People are posting that Samsung will give the international version updates earlier but is it that much sooner than other variants (or do the NA variants not get updates at all)?
I'm not sure which to order since I'm from the US (I have no use for LTE but price and ease of warranty are factors).
This is my problem too, which to get?. I'd love to have more development options, but at the same time I want faster speeds.
At a glance it appears that the internation one is going to be HSPA+ 21Mbit/s connections. But the LTE North American models will have LTE support and if LTE isn't avalible in your area then it defaults down to DC-HSPA 42Mbit/s not to mention the 2GBs of ram.
This is a hard choice :/
Both will have great development. Look at the intl note and the north america note for example

I also don't know which version to choose... Less pricy 2gb dual core with LTE or international with more support quadcore better GPU but less ram and no LTE...
I wanna know which one is better for multitasking, also if the battery life is better on the dual core or not and if 2gb vs 1gb really matters...
Id choose the usa version but i just hate that awful carrier logo on the front of the phone, it ruins all the beauty!

Thankfully my carrier doesn't brand there model number on the phone itself. I think they do this because they sell there phones in an unbranded/unlock versions to other non-major tel companys in Canada (don't know if this holds true for the SGS3 when it comes out though)
I've made my decision I want more ram and faster connection speeds through LTE and DC-HSPA. So now I'm just waiting for the thing to release lol. Also waiting to hear back from them if i can get it cheaper as an upgrade, otherwise their full price will be $599

Don't mean to drag this back up, but I was going to create a new post until I found this one.
I am in the same predicament. I'm wondering if I should get the Intl or US model.
I'm on T-Mobile, and they will be refarming their PCS band for HSPA+. I wonder if it's a safe bet to get the Intl model and rely only on a single 1900 MHz band for data, or go with the carrier's model and enjoy the potential of 2 HSPA+ bands (1700/1900)...
Plus, there's the development support issue as well. I've enjoyed my Intl SGS2 when I was on AT&T because of all the developer support - love the mods and the ROMs. Then I moved to a GNex when I went to TMobile.
My ideal ROM situation: CM9 ROM, stock Android Experience ROM, and modified Samsung ROM (themed to look/feel like ICS so I can keep the camera app while enjoying the stability and the highly optimized framework). I love using Titanium Backup and ROM Manager to basically change ROMs without loosing much data whenever I'm in a different mood.
I'd like to eventually have 1 SGS3, 1 iPhone (the next model, esp when TMobile's PCS band gets refarmed), and I'll keep my GNex for shiz and giggles.
Just not sure which to get - both seem to have their pros and cons.

[Q] Switching from VZW to TMo?

Hello,
First and foremost I'd like to say .... Man, it feels good to be back. I left Android for a few years due to battery issues. I just left VZW and switched from a iPhone 5 to a Note 3 on T-Mobile. My wife has a VZW HTC One (M7) and I was told it would work on TMo, so far we are having no luck getting anything besides Edge. Sorry if already posted but I did look around to try to find an answer. I have spent time talking to VZW, TMo and HTC and no luck. Will rooting give me the ability to fix this?

Verizon phones rarely work on other carriers. Besides the fact that they usually lock the SIM (meaning only VZW SIM cards will work unless you leave the US - ie: "global phone"), different cellular frequency bands are used. Specs on the M7 that I found on phonearena state that the VZW M7 uses 700MHz (band 13), which T-Mobile doesn't use (PA's specs aren't always 100%% though). So even if you could unlock the SIM somehow, you wouldn't get data; not at LTE speeds anyway. LTE radios in phones are actually fairly expensive components, so carriers will often order specific versions from the manufacturers that only support their own bands to keep costs down (and/or profits high).
I think your best bet would be to sell or trade the M7 for a T-Mobile or unlocked one.

Which LG G5 to go for?

After previously having a SGS4 GT-i9505(intl) as my daily driver, I'm keen to go for whichever is the most popular phone for rooting and developing for (e.g. CM, etc).... and after having a fair old headache with my S5 Prime (Korean) in Europe, where LTE Band 20 is essential...
I'm in the UK, definitely want one of the Snapdragon 820 variants and not bothered about dual SIM.
So I'm guessing my choices are: H820, H830, H850, H860?
Based on Techwalls, I'm guessing not H840/H848 (lower spec and restricted to Chinese frequencies) and probably not 860N as it sacrifices WiFi performance for a SIM slot I'll never use.
It looks like the H850 is a safe bet based on this?
Any preferences / opinions?
No rush, - I'm not buying until I'm confident of being able to root it at least
Worryingly: there's no Mokee/CM builds yet.... might and use one of those as the indicator which will have the best following.
I don't understand why you are considering any other variants than the 850? Very good chance.. if not total chance.. it will be available to unlock the bootloader officially through the LG website. Then just install TWRP and root.
So far only the 850 has the official bootloader unlock option.
Well. The H830 has unlockable bootloader too. And root and TWRP has been achieved. I think that you should choose between H850 and H830. Both of them are getting almost the same amount of development. They still have few, but give them some time and it will improve, probably alot!
H850... More bands, sim unlocked out of the box, root, twrp, fewer reports of build quality issues, receive more value for your money with LG's included headphones and many sites are still selling H850 paired with b&o headphones too, oh yeah and don't forget about the two year warranty the H850 gets from LG that none of the US variants have!
Here is the only link u need, cloveUK, read their reviews they are great:

That is true but if asking about a UK purchase then the native D850 would be the obvious choice.

H830 has more 3g frequencies than h850. H850 has more 4g frequencies than h830. H830 and h850 have band 20 both. H830 is cheaper but with less of the extra accesories. Depending from where you buy it you can get the 360 camera. H850 is more expensive despite they both have almost same specs. But that also includes the accesories that dont usually come with the g5 in USA, and also a specific warranty. Soooo. I think everything dependa of how much he have saved. Also, whether he would actually want the extra accesories or not.
H850 even... typo, oops.
Thanks guys - admittedly I'd only looked at the headline specs and decided that something that could stand shoulder to shoulder with a Galaxy S7 in most respects, with the bonuses of IR and no TouchWiz would be a really interesting phone.
I don't intend travelling so much that I'd have to scramble around for every last 3G frequency - most likely only around Europe (France/Spain) and South Africa, so it sounds like the H850 would be the top choice: as according to Wikipedia, these are the frequencies used on the Vodafone UK network:
900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G1800 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE. LTE 2G/4G900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+ 3G2100 MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+. LTE 3G/4G800 MHz LTE 4G2600 MHz LTE Advanced 4G
I'll fish around for a little longer before taking the plunge, but really looking forward to it!!
One more question: Before I buy one of these only to find out that my perfect phone is around the corner: is there any sign of a "compact" version on the LG roadmap (like Sony do with their Xperia Z-phones) - I'm after the most compact phone possible without sacrificing power/RAM/storage/features - I really don't mind sacrificing a bit of screen res if the phone still has the rest of the features the same AND fits into a smaller package...

Which LG V10 model number should I get?

Which model is best supported? I'm a bit confused about the variants.
Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.
It will depend somewhat on what carrier you plan to use as not all bands are active on each variant
Having said that I believe the h901 may have the most support although non are supported anywhere near the degree of a nexus
Smaller community, but a great device

H960A seems to cover the Americas pretty well, although you'll have to live with 32GB vs 64GB on other variants. No big deal since Micro SD slot is still there.
https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/AdJZ4/lg-h960a-v10-lte-a-lg-hpf
I've been using it on AT&T and get LTE with no issues. If you're using it it Panama looks like you need Band 2 and 28? H960A covers both but H901 does not.

dual SIM question

Dual SIM question.
Looking for a dual SIM phone that meets spec needs and unlocked bootloader.
Will the lgv30 dual sim work on Verizon and cricket?

No, it won't. You're talking about the H930DS.
These are the H930DS LTE bands below. Missing 2, 4, 12, 13 for what you need.... And you can't "Frankenstein" the H939DS to convert to North American variants, with their frequencies. H930DS is for other parts of the world.
LTE2100 (B1), LTE1800 (B3), LTE850 (B5), LTE2600 (B7), LTE900 (B8), LTE800 (B20), LTE700 (B28)
TD-LTE2600 (B38), TD-LTE1900 (B39), TD-LTE2300 (B40), TD-LTE2500 (B41)
Had a feeling you'd help me out. Thanks.
I'll just forward the number and use Verizon messages plus then if I go with this device. Just really don't like to have to do that....
I'm not completely sure how Verizon call forwarding works but if it still allows for me to use lte on the Verizon phone while forwarded I can have it ring my Google number and allow both phones to ring. if that is the case I really don't need the dual SIM as much as would prefer to have Verizon and cricket coverage especially since Verizon has better coverage. Unfortunately the cricket number will be my primary carry.
I'm looking for a device that will be equal to or better than the pixel 2 (my current work phone).
The mi mix 2 or mi mix 3 is looking very tempting.
My wife has an htc u11.
But this is the other device I looked hard at before buying the u11 for her.

As you know, lots of Verizon users on here from the Droid Turbo (Moto Quark) XDA forums. @schwinn8, @gimpy1, @nnjimmy59 and many others.
For hardware features, this is better than the Pixel 2: has
headset jack,
Quad DAC,
DTS 3D Surround sound (with root; on recent firmware updates LG has the framework -- the libs -- but you need root to enable for some reason),
microSD card slot, and
Qi wireless charging.
Mint US998 V30+ (128GB) is now $185 on eBay. You'll need your already-activated Verizon SIM card. After bootloader unlock and TWRP installation, then you can flash to Verizon TWRP flashable zip (ROM) made from latest stock KDZ firmware, and have all Verizon features. You're basically converting to VS996 -- BUT with 128GB internal memory, plus microSD card.
Or you can buy Verizon-branded VS996 (64GB), if you wish, but I've not priced those recently.
Be aware that almost all "new" V30 at this point in time are really refurbished, which is why I'm more willing to look at "mint" used. I've bought from that seller several times.
Be sure to buy a good case like this one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spigen-LG-V30-Rugged-Armor-Shockproof-Case-Slim-TPU-Cover-/253142676754
They can be very slippery with the glass front and back.
Actually I'd be running on cricket (att) but the price is indeed right.
I don't miss my headphone jack, I've moved to Bluetooth.
The rest would be nice.
The specs are very close. With lg having a slightly faster processor and bigger battery.
I wish it were a physically smaller phone. I already feel the p2 is too large but it is good for games.
Any suggestion as to the exact model to get for cricket (att)
Mind you I'd want it to be unlockable

All V30 variants can be bootloader unlocked and rooted. U.S. T-mobile H932 uses a more difficult method, while all the others use the "WTF" bootloader unlock exploit.
US998 V30/V30+/V30S are all carrier unlocked, if you are also talking about that. In fact, the default method to carrier unlock the AT&T H931 and the Sprint LS998 are to "Frankenstein" convert them to US998 firmware. It instantly carrier unlocks them -- very useful for people in other countries buying these phones off eBay...
My wife, me, my mother, my sister, her husband, two other friends all use the US998 on AT&T. The US998 is the "official" North America carrier unlocked variant, with compatibility for all carriers. (Yes, I use AT&T but have never used AT&T-branded phones. For the Quark, I had the Moto XT1225 I imported from other countries.)
You probably want the V30+ for the extra internal memory.

4G LTE Bands: 1/2/3/4/5/7/12(17)/13/20/25/66
Thanks, I may buy it here in a few months then.
I just wish it wasn't glass glued together.
