Just got a new update G935AUCU2APD1 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discussion

A OTA update just pushed to my at&t galaxy s7e. build number G935AUCU2APD1. the touch screen sensitivity seems better. no distortion option in camera setting. No DPI setting as international version. not sure what Elsa has been improved. security patch lever is April 2 2016.

unless i never noticed before, under System there is a Memory menu now. I never noticed it before

Can anyone with this update on AT&T confirm if you have the 'Display Scaling' option int he display settings? I am getting reports that AT&T have not included this and would like to confirm.
Thank you,

Anybody's AOD display really dim after update like mine???
Looks like they increased the sensor polling rate to about 30 seconds and its dimmer in dark light than before. It was almost instant before now it takes 30 seconds to auto adjust brightness.....

No need to post the same question in multiple threads. There's so little activity in the AT&T S7 section, that most of us read all the threads. You've been answered in the Q&A thread...

[Q] Lockscreen brightness less compared to homescreen?

I have noticed that the lockscreen brightness on my SGS II is less compared to my homescreen. Is anyone else having this problem?
I have tried almost everything but haven't found any possible way to correct this.
Any help would would be highly appreciated
PS: My SGS II is on stock rom KE1 (Non - Rooted).
I think that's a feature. Which personally I didn't notice until you mentioned but am quite happy with anyways.

thanks for your reply. I am quite relieved so to speak. Was a little worried that my device is malfunctioning. Even I was assuming that it might be a feature of the device's UI. Just needed a confirmation
When you go to settings, you see an option about image analysing or something. (My phone is in Dutch, so I'm not sure if it's called like that.)
The phone adjusts brightness according to the displayed image. I notice it a lot when opening the keyboard on a page with a white background.
Edit: turning this off has no effect. I thought it had to do with this.

Samsung Galaxy Note BLACK CRUSH Demo

Mine was purchased a little over a week ago at a local AT&T store in the USA. It is the SGH-I717 and is mfg. in Korea.
When I play Netflix or You Tube (HQ streams) of B&W movies with dark scenes and/or fade ins/outs, the picture becomes pixelated and blocky. As if there was no gray scale, just blotchy blobs. My older Captivate plays these scenes perfectly.
I made a video showing this problem. It shows a comparison of my Samsung Captivate, and my new Galaxy Note. Here is the You Tube link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a8aIGeLERg
I have tried to post about this issue to the AT&T reviews forum several times, but they will not accept the post. I wonder why?..... [NOT!]
There is a test pattern in this forum in another thread. Here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559800
It has a 22 rectangular block grid of different gray scale gradations, from white to black. Does your Note reproduce this test correctly (a gradual darkening of all the blocks until the numbers from 7 to 0 are difficult to see), or does it look like mine (all the numbers from 21 to 1 are visible, and 0 is completely black?
I LOVE this phone but for this one irritating problem. I truly hope that a fix is forthcoming from Samsung.
There was a huge thread dedicated to this with sample patterns, pics, etc, that just got deleted. Seems some members are requesting mods revive it, so just wait and see if that comes back.
Nice try. New member?

No, this person already posted these videos and mentioned that their posts are getting revoked on the AT&T site. And in the old thread, so they knew it existed. Why the new account??

It's not a new account. I remember him having 9 posts in my black clipping thread. But since it got deleted, so did all of his posts. That's why he's showing 1 post.

Has the clipping problem improved on the Seraphim ROM? I haven't had time to flash yet, but someone posted a photo last night right before the thread got deleted, and it showed improvement.

Hmm, okay - thanks. schrochem posted a picture, supposedly from the Seraphim ROM last night that showed all numbers visible, but substantial improvement in terms of clipping. He posted another picture originally from April 3rd (before the ICS leak) that showed major clipping between 0 and 1.
It's weird that one user would show substantially improved clipping with 1 visible, while another still has major clipping between 6 and 7 on the same ROM. Clipping point is clearly a software setting, so I'm a bit confused. Same ROM = same software, right?

Well to be fair, if he posted last night, he had a pre-release of seraphim, whereas I flashed the official one this morning. Though it is hard to imagine there would be any difference. schrochem could tells us for sure though.
why was the original post deleted? was there even a fix yet before it got the boot?
Yep that was me.
It's taken even a more bizarre twist.
Left - stock GB
Middle - Seraphim ICS pre release
Right - Seraphim ICS official
Weird huh?
Holy crap this damn image thing is busted...
Well I can't get the third one to show up, even after trying four times...
Here is the official seraphim from this morning.

Ugh...so it looks like whatever they unintentionally fixed in the pre release got unfixed in the official release. Is the pre-release the ROM found on post 501 of the Unofficial ROM thread? If not, let me know where I can get it, because I want to try it to see if it makes a difference. Thanks!
It was on post 501 but they took it down because the server traffic was too much. You might contact them and see if they could put it back up.
That would be very interesting to see.

I think it was said that the 501 post was technically still gingerbread faked to look like ICS.. unless I misunderstood what they said.
Either way there's the same clipping in each of those photos.
There was a pre-release of Seraphim up for about 20 minutes yesterday in post 501. It was for sure an ICS build. Those guys are swamped, so I won't bug them now, but I would like to get a copy of this to see if it has any effect. It is very curious the variety of results.
OK the weirdness continues. Now my official release looks like the one in the middle. That's the one from the pre release.
I can say that flashing the pre release went without error and the other did have a hiccup. Yesterday I had cleared caches to see if that was the reason but the third pic stayed the same.
Today I cleared them again and also cleared Google play data cache. Now it looks like the pre release photo above. I can't think of anything else I altered today or last night.

My SPen Reset App

Hello. I wrote an app to deal with a problem with the SPen on my N7000 Samsung Note. Not sure if it will work on other Note models but would appreciate someone trying it out and telling me if it works on their device as well. Please see my original posting here. Thanks
Downloading, what problems have you been having?

The problem was mostly one of the accuracy of the Spen drifting over time. It was most evident in the position of the "floating" pointer that is optional on my Note N7000. So over time the floating pointer started to drift further and further from the SPen's actual tip. As this happened the accuracy of SPen touches would decline. Others have posted on the internet about this. I believe the posts I saw were about the N7000. So I am not sure if this occurs on the carrier-branded units as well. Thanks for letting me know if this works for you (although I hope you don't have the problem in the first place).
So this app is meant for non-stock roms I am assuming, since one could use the #combination to re-calibrate the s-pen from the dialer app?

Actually, I am on standard Touchwiz ICS 4.0.4 on my N7000 Note. I do have it rooted and am using the Hydracore Kernel to avoid the brick bug. I am not sure about the #combination to which you refer. I have run something from the dialer that allowed me to test the touchscreen by filling in some space around the screen and across the middle (up and down). But:
(a) that did not seem to do anything for my problem and
(b) it was a pain and time consuming since my spen starts drifting pretty quickly judging from the floating pointer
Cheers
I had the same floating problem with my stylus and this is what I did.

Thanks for this. But fortunately, from what I have read, this isn't the problem I have been having with my SPen. Thankfully, my SPen's condition is far less severe. And the reset that my app is performing seems to be all that is needed. However, it is needed on a regular basis. I am running my app on a regular schedule automatically now.
That's good to hear, when I first bought mine AT&T said it was supposed to do that and there is nothing wrong and maybe I didn't know how to use the Spen. LMAO
I also found this if anyone wants to play with the hardware of the Spen http://phandroid.com/2012/12/05/how-to-adjust-s-pen/
I just started having a problem with my s pen when I use gestures screen doesn't vibrate anymore will this work for that

Hello and sorry to hear of the problem you are having. I am not sure, but I doubt if my app will do anything regarding this problem. It certainly wasn't designed to address this. First, are you sure that vibrate preferences are set correctly? Have you tried powering off and restarting the phone? I can say that I recently had this or a similar problem on my Note N7000 phone when I updated the custom kernel I am using (HydraCore) from version 4.3b to the latest release. In this case, others had already reported the issue to the custom kernel's author. I think that HydraCore is specifically for the N7000 but it might be that you have a customs kernel that suffers from the same sort of thing. Good luck!
App Now On App Store
I have paid Google and have posted this app on the Play Store. I have also been at work on a new version that will incorporate a more complete UI (easy to be more complete that what is in this version), scheduled operations, and the ability to toggle auto-rotate as well as dominant hand (as some sources claim this helps with issues related to landscape versus portrait mode). Thanks to all for your feedback as this has encouraged me to go further!
Reset Spen Pro Now Available
A low priced version of this app is now available on the Play Market. It offers additional convenience and other features including scheduled background operation and suppression of success messages. If the free version works on your device, I hope you will consider the Pro version. Thanks!
Honestly do not do a thing to this app it is amazing does exactly what it needs to do and super simple just open the app and its do

Installed new ROM and updated the app and now the front camera is just way to dark in moderate light settings.

I've noticed it too sadly, but I haven't noticed any lag within the app itself. FWIW I didn't notice this before I rooted and ROMd though.

I think it might have to do with the ASOP vs TW camera.....
Not a ROM issue
My forward camera is also dark. Wasn't always, but I don't know when it went bad.
GSX 3 standard 4.1.2 factory update.
Went to standard camera program and selected front camera. It too dark, so I changed the exposure setting from middle to bright.
Tried Snapchat again, still no good. Back in standard camera software, the forward camera was still bright, but exposure setting was back in the middle.

Android Nougat on SM-G930P

I just recently came across numerous articles claiming it was possible to get Android Nougat on a U.S model Galaxy S7. And just yesterday, samsung rolled out the galaxy beta application to the Galaxy App Store. I immediately unrooted and went to the latest firmware, and I downloaded the app. Registered and waited, and 14 hours or so after registering, I received the update. I'm honestly shocked at how good this update is. It's 10x more snappy and quick than it used to be (even after being rooted and debloated), it comes with great features such as a built in blue light filter and being able to change your screen's resolution on the fly, and the battery life is much improved. I've barely scratched the surface on what this new update comes with and just wanted to let the people on this forum know. If you're interested in seeing what it looks like I've attached some screenshots of what it looks like below.
So I got unlocked fw on my wife's Sprint S7 and like how it's bloatfree and runs real smooth. How is the Nougat 7.0 beta update compare to unlocked fw? Is it way smoother then the PJ2 fw? Just wanna see if it's worth it to even go back to PJ2 on her phone and sign up to get the beta update.

I won't lie to you, I'm a heavy root user and not having root on Android N sucks. However, it's a lot snappier than the PJ2 firmware, and it just feels a lot quicker in general. The simple materialistic look it has is great, and apps install and uninstall very quickly. You can disable nearly all the bloat that it comes with, and I'd definitely recommend trying nougat. It's been very quick and snappy so far, so I would give it a shot. Boot times improved and lag isn't nearly as bad as Android 6.0.1.

I'd say it is, I used xposed for so many things (mainly adblocking), and it's annoying to get the ads back, but it's so much faster booting up and just snappier all around, that the speed makes up for the restrictions that come with a rooted device.
All right! The update wasn't showing this morning, but I checked again this afternoon, and there it was!
Came here to post about it and I see that I'm not alone. Still downloading..

So far, it's looks good. There are plenty touches that are pretty sweet, and some that I am still testing. I also own a Nexus 6, so I know what the raw Android N feels like.
One of my favorite upgrades would be the support for 3rd party apps in the Always-On Display. And for those who don't know, you can now double tap the notification icon while the screen is off (the Always-On Display screen), and it will turn the screen on and open the notification. That is a NICE addition!
I am fond of the fact that stock N groups the notifications by app, and also creates subgroups for each notification from EACH app. For example, 2 Emails and 2 text messages will be categorized into two main notification groups, and each can be expanded to display the individual notification, and can be dismissed separately, or as an "App Group." (my terminology...don't quote me on this) It seems like Samsung removed the ability to do this.
EDIT: Correction about the notification subgroups...it does handle them correctly most of the time, but there are times where it will not. For example, if you get multiple emails from the same person, it might not separate them. That much of the equation is not entirely consistent.
Still more testing....stay tuned.

I am unrooted, and will probably stay that way for this device (for the time being, at least). I can say that the phone is much faster than Marshmallow. I wouldn't go through the trouble of unrooting, as the Beta program is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Not sure how many people have jumped onto the Beta ship by now.
On the other hand...you could be getting the latest version while having the snappiness that you had before. Up to you....

I haven't had time to fully dive into Nougat yet, but I'm highly disappointed there's no way to modify the notification bar icon placement as icons just pile up on the right and it looks awful. Also I have no idea what they've changed but fingerprint scanning and unlocking the screen has become extremely quick and hardly ever screws up your fingerprint.
Hmmmm...that's interesting. I have to let my notifications pile up to see what you mean. I clear my notifications fairly quickly.
So here's a little more information about the update. For those who have not gotten the update as yet, install your desired themes while on Marshmallow. N Beta does not allow you to install new themes until the N build is officially released.... bummer. However, themes that are alresdy installed will work (as you.csn see, I'm using one as well).
Also, as seen in the screenshot, you can disable the default Samsung keyboard. That's new!
I will be back with more minor updates.
