There are a few people with exactly the same problem, read some more about it here - http://en.miui.com/thread-262458-1-1.html and possible solution here - http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=262734&highlight=network+error

I had the same problem and this worked for me:
If you're using Global rom, make sure OEM unlock is enabled in developer settings (it is enabled by default in Dev rom).
If that doesn't work wait for 5 - 8 days (yup, sorry) to make sure the account verification is synced. Xiaomi's unlocking process is still buggy.
Or just unlock using unofficial method.

Faceunlock password useless!

Gsm 3d here...
I noticed that the face unlock code if light too low or can't recognize can be bypassed by simply pressing the ok button. actually unlocked with wrong password too.
Anyone else?
Could have been a recent mod I flashed.
welcome to custom roms. Until an official build is released, there will be bugs.

Bat signal for fix!
Mine asks if I want a pattern or PIN code while setting up the face unlock. I chose pattern and if the phone is unable to detect my face it asks for the pattern.
Only tried this on a few sense 3.6 ROMs.
Ok, so it was a zip I flashed that caused this to malfunction.
I setup the passcode for Facelock, then when it didn't recognize me, pressed the ok, or entered passcode incorrectly and it bypassed the security I put in place.
I restored a backup and can say that it no longer accepts incorrect passcode or just clicking ok.
Welcome to the world of flashing zips blindly, lol.
I'm holding out for retina scan (had to edit that before posting, originally wrote rectal scan. Hmmm.... a new idea, maybe not).:silly:

Bootloader unlock for new Device on MIUI 8 Stable?

Hi all.
I recently bought a Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon, Kenzo variant) which has MIUI 8 Global Stable out of the box.
I was wondering if there's any way for me to use the unofficial bootloader unlock method in order to open up modification options for the device? I ask, as the tutorials I have read have all been for MIUI 7, and don't really want to attempt a downgrade if there's a high possibility of bricking the device.
Here's a screenshot of my "About phone" page, if it helps:

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Apply for permission to unlock bootloader at mi.com/unlock
After getting permission
Install Developer rom via EDL mode
Then login to with your mi ID I.mi.com and see if your Devce is online
Then download mi flash unlocker
Login with the same mi account of your phone
And click unlock
Hola your phone is unlocked

Thanks for that, but I specifically asked about the unofficial method. I'm aware that several users have experienced problems using the official method, you see.
I would always recommend doing the official first.
I only registered using email address and have unlocked several times (about 10) with zero issues as some ROM's lock the bootloader.
If doing it officially doesn't work, then I'd say you could look into the unofficial. May as well give official a try.

Couldn't check Finde device status

Hi everyone.
1 - After my xiaomi redmi 3 Note Pro was in bootloop I flashed it with MIUI Global 8.1/ Stable 8.1.1.0
2 - At the first boot, when I had to sign in to my Mi Account, the phone started saying "Checking Find device status...", without letting me even try to sign in.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3 - So i tried to flash the phone again but it doesn't work now: with every image version and every MiFlash version I try in MiFlash says [error:"Flash tz error"]. I've seen that this probably happens because my bootloader is still locked.
4 - So I tried to unlock it with the standard procedure with MiFlashUnlock, and after all the procedure I received the message, but when I try to unlock it says: "Couldn't verify device, current account is different from the account info on the device". So I've seen that this is because I can't login into my account in the phone (see section 2).
5 - I noticed that I'm able to access the apps and the settings of the phone even if I'm in the mi account login screen (see section 2) holding the center button and going to google now and searching for settings or app names. I tried from the settings to reset the phone but it doesn't allow me since I'm not logged, I also tried to update the phone with the update app, but it doesn't let me.
Pls help
i got the same problem, anyone can help to solve this?

Unlocking issues

So I have encountered an strange "issue". I was granted unlocking privileges 4 days ago. I flashed the latest Global Developer ROM and have been hitting the "Add account and device" button in developer options since. It always says "Couldn't verify, try in a few minutes". But the strangest thing is that when I go to Mi Account<Account Security<Devices, I see this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
That number isn't mine, I'm from Spain and that number is from Thailand. The thing is that in account information, my phone number is the correct one.
Has this anything to do with me being unable to unlock the phone? How can I change this?
Many thanks in advance
Edit: I canĀ“t load the image :/
Okay, you have several options :
> Delete the MI account after unbinding it with your device & create a new one. Now add your mail & phone number to the new account.
> Visit this link https://account.xiaomi.com/pass/ser...h%2Fsecurity%2Fhome&sid=passport&sid=passport , click forgot password & enter account details , then proceed for manual verification.
> Visit the above link again , login with your details , click change phone number , now call that person & ask for OTP Lmao , enter the OTP & add your number.
Wow, so many options. I have already contacted Xiaomi's customer service, but will surely try at least your first solution.
Thanks!

The last version of Android where you could remotely change the device password if you got locked out of your phone was Kit Kat.
The only time I've heard of an update making the device stop recognizing the correct password is when a custom recovery is being used that can't properly decrypt data in which case the owner could boot back into TWRP and reformat the device memory.
In this case it sounds much more like somebody with a stolen phone trying to bypass the security set up by the legitimate owner.
As far as I know helping somebody do that still gets you banned from XDA.
If the OP here is the legitimate owner then there is probably a hardware problem with that phone and he should get it serviced under the warranty.
It's probably a script that's poorly written. Not necessarily the update.
