Hi All,
Today, dropped my S2 and touch screen got shattered completely.. Phone powers on but no display at all.. I had set password to unlock screen..
I want to take backup before sending for repairs.. Googled a lot but no clear ans or procedure.. Pls help me as i need to backup precious data on my PC. Tried using Kies but reports "connection locked" error asking to unlock the device. Screen not working so cant unlock it :-(
M a newbie so detailed explanation will be helpful..

If you can't connect your mobile to the PC it will be so hard look for backup!
But... I am thinking that...
Maybe you can flash a new ROM...
if you can go in DOWLOAD MODE...
but i suppose that your settings, as the password, will remain active... maybe a modded ROM.

Can't you just see the internal sdcard when you plug in the USB cable to your PC as a disk?

Connect fone to Kies once connect you should be able to enter PW via computer. And so be able to back you your fone...

Thanks for your response. I tried but Kies (v2.1.0.11112_41) reports connection locked error and suggests to enter password on connected device. I cant since whole screen is broken and its completely blank :-(

Humm.. Phone is detected in device manager as Samsung USB composite and Modem device but Kies (2.1.0.11112_41) reports connection locked error. M wondering if there is another tool/driver that can allow to either unlock device from computer or get access to file system on phone. Kindly advise..

i also managed to break my gs2 screen today. ive taken it to vodafone however they claim that for data protection they have to wipe all data on the phone if you have found a solution i beg you to get in touch.
simple method:
1.put the phone in download mode
2.download the tar file of a custom kernel(like siyah) which can mount your storage from cwm.
3.flash the file via odin and enter cwm.(press the key combo to enter cwm)
4.now ask some other users who use the same kernel to tell you the number of key press needed(and in which direction) to mount your sd card.
5. now your internal sd will show up in pc.
6. backup all the data now.
you can also backup all your apps +data using step 4
replace it yourself, it is dead easy...google youtube for an instruction video (did replace my daughters SGS2 broken screen in under half an hour)
hello My Samsung Galaxy SII has a broken display and i need to connect it up to retrieve key data but it won`t connect to kies...is there any way that i can?

You should be able to pull your stuff with ADB. Google and/or XDA search should yield you plenty of tutorials/how-to's on using ADB.
Edit - Provided you had debugging turned on prior to the display being broken.

I'm kinda freakin' out here.
Here's the story:
I bought this amazing Redmi 3 Pro from China, and after waiting for 33 days, it arrived. I knew that it's important change the ROM that came with the device, so... I changed it. I'm from Brazil, so I needed a ROM with Portuguese-BR language and at least, stable. When I was going to change the ROM, my device just turn off and never turned on again.
OBS: The drivers are installed. It recognizes as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008", so I think that it's on EDL Mode.
OBS2: I tested flash on: Win7(x64) and Win10(x64). Neither worked.
OBS3: Every time, I get the error "Reached End of File.(0x80070026: Receiving Hello Packet.)
OBS4: I downloaded several ROMs, several versions of MiFlash (including the Beta version) and nothing passed from the error above.
OBS5: The device doesn't turn on, doesn't light on the LED, doesn't vibrate etc.
I believe that the problem resides on the missing two files: MPRG8936.mbn and 8936_msimage.mbn.. If anyone have those files, please, share here.

Well.. I believe that my phone's battery is dead.. How can I charge it externally? Cuz the charger isn't charging properly. Tried several chargers, but the light of low battery doesn't turn on in a couple days.

You need to plug the battery to other redmi 3 and charge it
or charge it directly with 1A 3.9V (risk of damage)

Well.. I live in Brazil, and I don't know anyone who have this device, so that's not an option. Any other sugestions to charge it?

you do not need to charge the phone before flashing. i had the same problem. connect your phone to computer and after some minutes (may be up to 20 minutes) in device manager you will the phone as..... qdloader.... 9008 and every thing is ready to flash according the instructions.

The computer recognizes the device exactly like this "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM20)"
When i'm going to flash, an error appears, "Reached End of File.(0x80070026: Receiving Hello Packet.)".
Using the MiFlash Beta, the error says "Coudn't communicate with port COM20"

If you're talking about the solution through the guide for Redmi 3, I just did it and nothing worked. On MiFlash 2015.10.28.0 appeared the error "0x800700aa" Something like "Current Resource current being used" and when I click on refresh and try it again, the same old error appears: "0x80070026: Receiving Hello Packet"
On MiFlash Beta, the error "Can not read from port COM4" still appears.

I would like to know ,if I could unbrick my hardly bricked Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus,with using of the deep flash cable?
I don't like to use the test point method, because I simply don't want to open up my phone!
I would also like to know, if the save user data option in the MiFlashTool saves the user data (files,apps) really while flashing of a stock ROM but for a phone with a locked bootloader like mine has?
And also is there a need of an additional command for the save user data option to do its job?
Please answer to my questions!

May I´m wrong but I don´t think that this method actualy works in this device. I used in the past for an older device Mi Max and it worked but this feature (I guess) was removed from newer devices.
DFC does the same that pressing the three buttons at same time to connect to pc but with this device I couldn´t connect it in the same way. If this feature (three buttons) works in this device you won´t need DFC, I mean that trying a lot of times (you have to connect at the exact time to work) then will do the same.
I opened back cover easily many times so is my second device that I do it and no problem at all, is more easy that you think it but a DFC don´t cost more than 2$ so you can try it too.
I read different report about this but in my own experience I flashed many roms with the option "save user data" and ever deleted all my files and apps maybe due to bootloader locked and probably cause flashing through EDL method is flashing in download mode but with unlocked bootloader you can flash it using fastboot mode that is other level.

A short story to understand better. I bricked my Mi Max (released 2016) due to a file uploaded by error for an user so I tried to unbrick it in various ways, my last option was EDL method through test point: I knew four ways to send it to download mode;
- Using adb command -adb reboot edl- (didn´t work)
- Using three buttons, this is the method; connect USB cable first to pc and not to device yet, prepare your three fingers over both volume and pwr buttons and at the exact same time press all those and connect terminal of the USB cable to your device, you have to feel a short vibration and a sound on pc if the connection was fine. (but this method in the past didn´t work, at the end I´ll tell you why)
- Deep Flash Cable, some of then come with a switch so you connect device, cable and pc and when you want just switch on the tool. (it did work but I couldn´t unbrick it so I tried also the fourth method)
- Test Point largely mentioned over all the net.
I couldn´t recover my device cause simply motherboard was totally dead, now I bought a replacement and having problems to unlock bootloader I decided to flash it a custom recovery and some custom rom so at the first attemp with three buttons method it worked fine and flashed what I wanted.
Conclusion: this method worked for older devices with working motherboard but in R5+ didn´t work for me (maybe it work for you, I was not so persistent).
Conditon :
Can't boot up into anything (Fastboot, recovery)
No Mi Logo
No Vibration
*Phone goes into EDL WITHOUT having to touch the pins on the mobo*
So, my phone was working like 3 days ago, until today it just went to "Red Light Blinking and Nothing Else", So i searched around the internet and basically on YT i got videos like "Heating up the Power IC Fixes this" but i really didn't wanted to try it so i went again and thought maybe i need to flash the Phone so i downloaded the "Global Stock Rom" so i then took the back cover off of my phone and plugged it the USB Cable and i saw "QualComm HS-USB QLoader 9008" which is right i guess and tried to flash it via MiFlash Tool. And indeed i got error BUT in sequence.
1st one was "cannot recieve hello packet"
which i solved by reconnecting my phone
Then
2nd "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
I only got this ONCE, searched around again and found out that it's something with WRONG ROM type. So i redownloaded the ROM and got the third error.
3rd "init:storage fail" Which i again searched around and found this could be related to "EMMC Fail" which i have no idea how it went there.
So please if anyone have any info or can lend me some help then please let me know as soon as you can.

I have a 64 Bit Windows 10 with drivers installed, it just get stuck on "init Storage : Fail" after 7 seconds.

Try window driver signature disabled.
Try with diffrent usb ports.
Redownload fastboot rom. Extract it and try.
If still getting storage error then Emmc is dead. Repair it or buy new phone.

I've tried a different port and re-downloaded the ROM, but i haven't tried to "Disable Driver Enforcement" yet, But if the EMMC is dead then how do i deal with it? And how does it dies? I was using it like 3 days ago with no problem and suddenly it's just gone.

Its phone . not human body which comes with 80 yrs warranty.
If u r gamer then its faster. It has limited write cycles. Disk can go corrupt and dead. How old u r using phone?

Okay i understand nothing lasts forever but still there could've been some signs that it might be die some time ,i also have a Moto E (1st Gen) it even has gone through water submersion but still works just as fine but recently it's batter died to i decided to lay it in his grave, but alas it's gone, So i just needed to know if you could let me know What can i do to fix the EmmC? Like any tutorials or something? I also have a Note 4 with the same problem as this. Or maybe i'll just never buy a Mi phone again

Its not harddisk which will give u alert or noisy sound before it dies. Its Sd. Thats the demerits of solid drive.
Emmc means embedded multi media card or disk. Its cant be repaired. It can be replaced in service center. May be.
But better buy new phone.
Nothing wrong in buying xiaomi phone.
Most problems happen when u stay on miui and keep doing OTA update for entire life which creates lots of bugs and issues.
U must do factory reset once in a six months. Or flash fastboot rom clean all flash using computer is best to keep phone healthy. Its not true that stock rom is always best. Sometimes its bloated and hogs ur phone like hell like miui.
So installing Custom debloated roms are best here to keep rom smooth running and increasing phones health.
Only upgrading using OTA is not good. Userdata and internal sd must be wiped after few months to clear bugs.

My Redmi Note 5 is stucked n Mi-Recovery 3.0 screen with 3 options: Reboot - Wipe data - Connect with MiAssistant. and continue to go in loop until the battery will be zero.
I was try everything to get connected, and flash again the firmware but no result, first and I think main problem is that my PC cannot see the phone, then with all SW I'm sure I can try to re-install everything and recover back my phone. Data is not a problem since I have all backup in MI account and Google account. I hope some one expert can help me to solve this unpleasant situation.
Is already out of warranty and send to MI service cost 36 EURO just for checking and then more than 90 EURO for repairing, is not worthing the cost.
P.S. I downloaded and try with ADB; Flash; MI Tool, USB debug etc..
I'm desperate mother of two kids and I need this phone, now I'm using a very old one.

You try mi flash tool, but the phone can not recognized? Fastboot mode working? When yes, maybe Windows install the wrong driver. Look in the device manager and install it when it the wrong one manual

You can see the screenshot I just made it and I was trying to connect the phone, I installed any diver as possible but the PC is not recognize it.

And what's with the windows device manager? U look inside
I have an update, now I can flash the Rom using Xiaomi MI tool V2. Then after finish message say that installation was successfully, but when I restart the phone is going back again on same position with Mi-Recovery 3.0. I noted that if I use MI Phone Assistant in certain conditions I can see the phone as "HD" in my PC. There is anything I can do to revive my phone?
