Connectivity issues on the V10 when using the LTE Cellspot after the 6.0 update. - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just wanted to put this out there if any of you guys like me relies on the T-mobile LTE Cellspot to get a good signal and data in your house. On 5.1.1 it worked like a dream, with speeds up to 60 mps download. As soon as I installed the update I'd no-longer get LTE using the cellspot. The LTE light stopped blinking (it should always blink when your getting LTE on your phone), and the 3G/4G light started blinking and all I could get was 4G with 10-12 mps download and I'd loose signal all together a lot. Witch never ever happened before the update. So I did all the usual things. I did a factory reset on my phone . I did a reset on my cellspot. I called Tmobile the first time and the guy basically said 6.0 is buggy and you'll just have to wait until LG issues another update to fix this bug. He offered me LG's phone number I said forget it and hung up. I thought about it a bit then called back. This guy just immediately issued me a replacement device, witch they sent overnight. I got it in the mail yesterday and when I set it up it was still on Android 5.1.1 and works perfectly again. I'm scared to update it again. I was just wondering if anyone else on here has a V10 and uses an LTE Cellspot and has updated to 6.0 and had any of these issues? If so please let me know. If your still on 5.1.1 and rely on a cellspot then beware of updating to 6.0.
thanks.

My wife's G4 on MM 6.0 works fine and gets 4G LTE on our cell spot when she takes her phone down in the basement. I haven't had a chance tl update my V10 cause I have been on the road.

I am in the same situation. I traded in my TMO wifi router for the LTE Cell tower. Great addition since we had 4 phones and 2 tablets that were all on wifi prior to. Once I updated my V10 (via LG Bridge) I immediately noticed a difference in signal strength. Prior to, I had full bars of LTE coverage anywhere in the house. After the update, I regularly see the spinning circle (searching for signal) above my signal bars, and even out in public, my signal strength has dropped. I was going to be patient and see if another update followed soon. If not, I might root and start testing other roms and kernels.

Unfortunately if you took the mm update there is no root yet... You're stuck waiting.
Here's hoping for a root breakthrough!

Thanks for the info guys. I got lucky and Tmobile sent me a new V10 with Lollipop still on it so it's working great again. I noticed that that MM update isn't available anymore, the few times I checked anyhow, I called Tmobile, and I don't know if the guy was full of it or not but he said they pulled the 6.0 update and are working on putting out a 6.01 update that works better. But if you hurry and call Tmobile they may send you a new phone that's still on Lolipop like they did for me. Let me know if an new update comes out that works with CELLSPOT otherwise I'll wait for root. Thanks for the feedback though I really appreciate it.

According to the Marshmallow update page for T-Mobile devices as well as the support page for the V10, they have not pulled the update nor is there any mention of them doing pulling it so the dude who told you they did us full of, well you know what. Never believe anything the customer service person on the phone says because 9 times out of 10, you will know more then them, and they are clueless most of the time.

yea your right buddy.. they just sent me another OTA to update for MM. I figured out a way so it would stop bugging me about it. I'm not upgrading again until a new update comes out that I'm sure works with my cellspot. the only thing I miss about MM is the new Google Now... that is really slick. I wish there was a way to get that without updating from lolipop

Ok, T-Mobile is aware of this issue and are currently working on 6.0.1 to fix the problem, I don't know how long, but I was lucky enough to get a replacement phone with Lolipop, and I'm not updating it until the 6.0.1 is out and somebody successfully did it and it works, until then I'll stay on lollipop, all I really miss is Google now on tap.

Ok, I just got off the phone, with both Tmobile and LG, I can confirm they are working hard on a 6.0.1 update for the V10, they claim all bugs will be fixed with this update, thank goodness I got back to Lolipop. But they are working on this update to come out in a month maybe 2, both people at LG and Tmobile said. So good news.

Care to share how you got rid of the annoying update notification?! It's basically telling me to update to a buggy unrooted MM when I like my v4a too much! I haven't figured out what app to freeze or hide the notification yet..
Thanks in advance!

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I believe that freezing the update center Will Stop the MM upgrade because I tried that & it seems to have have been the cause of the notification disappearing. I had to restart my phone after freezing it to make the notification go away, but it did go away without my hiding the notification for Google play services. I hope this is able to help you

Saw that they finally have root for MM but I do rely on the T-Mobile cellspot at work. Also you guys mentioned that you random signal lost while out and about. I'm not gonna take the chance to update my phone. Will wait and see what v6.0.1 brings. Otherwise, I'm content with lollipop, does all I need it to. I used Siraltus's methods to disable the OTA notification.

Sorry I haven't looked at this thread in awhile. I got rid of the notification by going to. Settings >General >apps>all> then scroll down to the update center and just hit disable. That stopped it for me. Let me know if that worked for you as well.

Any News on this?
I went into my local tmobile store, they claimed that LG has notified them on the mistake on the 6.0 update and that they are working on a fix. My wife and I have the V10's and are tired of the network drops.... getting old. worked fine on lollipop. I guess it's a waiting game now, since there are no publications on this issue. every time I call customer support, they have no idea that this is a problem.

I was told the same thing and I was sent a replacement phone with Lolipop still on it and I haven't upgraded again. I don't know if that's still an option or if they're shipping the V10s already with the 6.0 update. It might be worth looking into. If you raise a big enough stink they'll send you new phones. I couldn't live with this phone on 6.0, it was horrible. All I really miss about the update is Google now on tap and that's not really a huge deal because this phone is so awesome running on 5.1.1 on the cellspot.

i did see that turning off GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto and switch GSM/WCDMA,seems to be holding a signal and staying connected to LtE cellspot...so just the people getting a G5 and reading this..1st thing i would try do!

I wonder if that would work on the V10 6.0 update.. Hmmm, I'm scared to try, if anyone already has the V10 on 6.0 and you try that let me know.

LTE Connectivity now working
Came home today and LTE connection from cellspot working. I don't think T-Mobile updated phone, as there were no updates. I think they may have updated the LTE cellspot via internet connection. Did a hard reset of cellspot yesterdat. LTE connects with 35 mbs speed (same as internet connection). Greensboro,

HTC One LTE issues

Has anyone seen any issues with the one not receiving phone calls or text messages or stops receiving while on LTE? Also sending duplicate texts. Already cleared cache...factory reset the device and finally T-Mo deemed the set had a hardware issue and sent a replacement one. Same issues. When I turn the LTE radio off all my issues seem to disappear. Its crazy....noticed it started about 3-4 weeks ago. I didn't start tracking it until then. Its possible that the ROM is jacked but on two different handsets? Has anyone seen this issue in the Oklahoma area?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Honestly, ive been having the same issue lately. And it happened occasionally with 4.2, but now with 4.3, it has gotten worse, occurring almost daily. I haven't received a replacement device though, because I'm just going to switch to a nexus 5 soon. Tired of the stupid purple camera tint with HTC doing nothing about it except a bogus software update that would "fix" it.
I live in Southern California, btw.

I live in Galveston and happened to me today. Receiving Messages and phone calls wouldn't go through, and I had to restart the phone and then everything came through... I am rooted and running Mike 31. Something. I want to blame it but I guess is doing it on stock phones too? I might go back to the store and see what they do for me. And can't blame tmobile itself because my sisters iPhone 5 its just fine. So must be the device.

Actually since tmobile doesnt have voice over lte it's going to drop down to 4g whenever you take a phone call. It has always been this way with lte. If you're in a bad 4g area then I assume voice isn't going to work.
However the issue I've been having since 4.3 update is when I'm on wifi my phone won't receive text messages until I get off wifi.
Has something to do withWiFi calling?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
At least I am not going crazy. Has anyone called Tmo and complained about it? I have been for almost a month now and am getting no where
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Have you considered that it may be an issue with your APN settings?
Try the settings mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481533
I have the exact same issue on my european HTC One (Vodafone).
As soon as I disable LTE, all phone functionalities are fine.
The signal bar also raises from 2 to 3/4.
This issue is affecting calls as well as SMS. Interesting enough:
When LTE is active and I am "not reachable", I can go into settings -> call -> call forwarding.
As soon as the device is checking the network, I get 4 bars and all missed calls and SMS come through.
I did find the following thread, which helped me to identify the issue:
andromods(dot)com/fix-troubleshoot/fixing-htc-one-x-plus-cant-receive-calls-voicemail-problem.html
So this seems to be not only related to the HTC One, but the One X also. (Same LTE Radio??)
I will check with Vodafone, if there will be a replacement, as I am almost unable to use the phone..
Hope this helps!?
---------- Post added at 12:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:17 PM ----------
In addition: I never had this issue with Android 4.2.2 (stock ROM), but since 4.3 (stock, version 3.63.161.6, HTC sense 5.5, SDK 5.65, baseband 4a.21.3263.04_10.38m.1157.04l, kernel 3.4.10-g6ac477c) I seem to have this problem..
---------- Post added at 12:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:25 PM ----------
I'm just off the phone with HTC support.
They did raise a ticket, however, it is unlikely that this issue will be resolved in 4.3.
They did ask me to wait for 4.4, which is due by the end of January 2014 (rough estimate, as per the service agent).
Guess we all have to wait then, or to use a different ROM..
I've also been having this problem. But I believe my wife has as well with her S4, and it's become more frequent since she got 4.3 about a week ago. I wonder what's going on?
In a related issue T-mobile is starting to use the Metro PCS spectrum to improve our service
http://allthingsd.com/20131206/t-mo...-lte-network-speeds/?reflink=ATD_yahoo_ticker
Has anyone heard anything else regarding these issues? Seems to be getting worse for me. I'm in the South Florida area.
Have you called T-Mobile and reported your issues? Most times it's a problem on there end
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yea I did. They're looking into it. We'll see where it goes.
It's bad 4g reception from carrier, Samsung s4,iPhone 5,5s has same issue with some of carriers in some country's. I'm using iPhone 5 s and htc one and i have same issue on both phones. So just turn of 4g and enjoy your phone. you do not need that kind speed on mobile phone yet.
updates?
i have the same issue on my htc one and im on att. it sounds like and issue with the firmware/os. im running 4.3 and when i bought it it was running 4.2 and i didnt experience the lte issues. im currently putting the phone in gsm mode to get it to work. but does upgrading to 4.4 fix the issue?

I'm having the same problem as well, I'm through virgin and currently running 4.4.2, seems like the update didn't work.
some updates: I've done the update to 4.4 and it didnt fix anything. from what ive found on the net people are saying that they have issues with the sim card being bad or that the phone is unlocked and att is blocking it access to the 3g/4g networks. i havent been able to verify either of these two but thats what ibe found out.

New update today PJ4

Turned my phone on this morning to a new update. Still 6.0.1 with a build number of PJ4. Not sure what it "fixes" yet but noticed a new bloat app called Fullscreen.
I received this update as well. Just to be clear, this is bootloader 4, correct? I'm not sure how to verify. I am about to flash you're U version you posted, and hopefully get wifi calling and texting working on it. You said you flashed back to at&t version, may I ask why ?
Yes, everything's 4 now.
I flashed back to stock att too get wifi calling and volte back that wasn't available on the U

I am about to do that as well
I like the U firmware, but that damn WIFI calling is too important for me ( My house and work have no cell service). Damn AT&T and not having a streamlined WIFI calling system. Do you use the samsung disabler app at all? i use it to pretty much remove everything.
Even though for me wifi calling seems to not work as well after the update.
I do the same with PDP, I disable all I can!
Here what's new
Opps, I rooted the other day and then this update hit, thought I could ignore it but it applied it anyways. I tried to flash the "unroot" files, API2 seems the latest available, but I can not flash those. Do I just have to wait for Pj4 files to be available to flash?
My WiFi calling seems to be working fine. I usually turn on airplane mode though then WiFi. Forces WiFi calling

At my work it used to kick on wifi calling as soon as I got there. Now it rarely does. I haven't ever needed to try the airplane mode trick but Ill give it a go.
I do it because I have the slightest hint of service. I forgot where I read it, but WiFi calling is for when there is zero service . The airplane mode works pretty great. Hope it helps!

It wasn't until this most recent update AND a cache wipe/factory reset that Wi-Fi activation finally went through. I have it enabled and it over rides my cell service regardless of signal strength and airplane mode state. It's been clear as a bell for me, however, I've only tried it over my home network. I'd imagine it wouldn't work too well over an open public or overloaded network but I could be wrong

no beta for us...

How does everyone feel about att getting left out of the galaxy beta program? I already feel our root method is basically crippled and with the bootloader locked I'm considering a pixel as my next phone, but curious about the s8. Thoughts and opinions? I for one was excited to see Samsung s beta program right up until the blocked att...
I want to get the new pixel phone because of the locked bootloader but do not know about how to go about it as I am still paying for this phone monthly. I'm just hoping that this bootloader gets unlocked for nougat, I don't even need custom roms all I want is root with normal battery life.
I was excited about the beta program as well when I first read about it, but then AT&T had to ruin it for us. I just hope that does not mean that we'll have to wait longer than everyone else to get it when the final build is ready.

Idk if that works. Someone was asking about how to flash back since that soft bricked their phone.
Att always denies users the good stuff and takes forever with updates because they have to load them up with bloat crap.

If I get the beta I will upload the ota zip. There shouldn't be any reason you guys couldn't use it. I'm on tmobile.

So it looks like a few people have done the verizon OTA to nougut, does anyone have any pro's or con's to using verizon vs tmobile with a 930a and att service? Also can anyone provide a step by step on changing the apn, I am concerned about what will and will not work since the fw is not designed for this carrier.
I am assuming that Volte and Wifi/Video Calling will NOT work, but obviously would be willing to be proven wrong.
Ive recently abandoned root and just applied a pixel launcher to the Nov. 1st update from ATT. If my phone wasnt company provided I would just get a Pixel already....
Thoughts?

I also got v10c today. Im in US with unlocked phone.

In Canada just got V10c-NOV-20-2019.
- Phone usability and functionality has been further improved.
Also got it. I have noticed my signal being absolutely terrible now. Idk if it's related or if there's issues with Bell near me but I am not overly happy about what's going on. I hope it's not related to the update. No way if really knowing right now. Trouble sending text messages and data issues even though it shows i have a good signal. It's driving me nuts right now
any of you guys know a site that actually has stock firmware? I gotta try and roll back from 10c. It's absolutely killing me using 10c. Gotta get off it!

I'm super not impressed with LG, I'm scared they're gonna keep my phone for months trying to fix it. This is my 3rd LG phone so I hope they don't disappoint with the repairs.

I have noticed that when I am at work my LTE connection works with no problem. When I get home (2km further) it stops working. Before the update it was working OK in both places.

I'm guessing you haven't seen my thread yet. I fixed this issue. Check out my thread here and you'll have LTE on your phone again working just fine.

Question Cellular signal drops after December OTA update

WTF. Going to flash previous factory image. Not impressed !!!
There is a bug opened here https://issuetracker.google.com/u/1/issues/210484323
I getting the same also it goes dead for like a few minutes every so often
3 times in like 45 minutes for me .. so is the best to roll back glad they have that website flash andriod web
Just spoke to Google chat agent and literally she had no clue. Asked if I contacted my sim provider to check if that's not them. Then suggested sending it under warranty oh dear.
Of course she has no clue.. she's the lowest person on the totem pole, trained to answer questions like "where does my SIM card go in?"
If people want to get Google's attention go to the link @pemz82 provided https://issuetracker.google.com/u/1/issues/210484323 and star the issue.
Has anyone figured out a common denominator? Build version, carrier, etc? Or is it just the luck of the draw?
iomma try flash back the old radio
Yeah something is major wrong here.. They need to fix this really fast.
For me this issue started 10 days before the update. all of a sudden I had drops and my screen off drain jumped from 0.4 to 1.5. this leads me to believe that the problem isn't on the update but rather on a play store package. I think this only happens to people with dual sim or maybe users that only use esim.
This issue is definately caused by the December update (or a part of it).
I received the update and instantly noticed that I no longer had signal while indoors at my home. My wife also had a Pixel 6 (on the same network both using a physical SIM) and has remained on the November build. Her signal has remained fine.
for me the same thing after the renovation in the buildings every now and then exclamation mark and no possibility of a phone call
For me it's noticeable better today. Had no signal at all at home and today is much better. At the moment in have 3/4bar
...
I just saw a potential fix posted on reddit (Credit: MissAnneThrowpe)
Power off phone
Remove SIM
Turn phone on
Settings > Apps
Under "Recently Opened Apps" > See all apps
Use search feature (upper right) to locate "SIM Toolkit".
Under "Storage & Cache", clear Cache, clear Storage
Power off phone
Reinsert SIM
Power on

Hmmm, I have an Esim. Wonder if it’ll delete the sim or not?

The OP suggested toggling the eSIM off. Try at your own risk.
Done. Signal strength not changed.

I'm not surprised. There is no reason for that to work seeing it's a Google network/radio issue not a sim manager app issue. I'm always leery trying those homemade fixes that someone tried out on a friends phone. Also I don't believe it's the December update since it was happening on the November update as well, at least for me. The Verizon update page doesn't even have the Dec patch listed. I wonder if any carrier has jumped on the bandwagon or they held off, which is why no one is getting an OTA on Vzw or Att from what I can tell.

i was just getting ready to post back here! i did this with my P6 and i'm happy to say my signal is now back to the same as it was on the november update. Worked like a charm and with no other problems created from it.

It's definitely the December update. I'm the OP of the https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/210484323
Both me and my wife have Pixel 6, same operator. I stupidly sideloaded the A1 OTA (well you know, I have the flashing fever ), and after reboot I don't have network connectivity in the house (or I have low signal near the window). Even outside, sometimes I have no signal, while my wife's P6 on November patch has full signal most of the time.
No to be full of sh##, I decided to took a picture of both phones, side by side. Left one is mine, on dec update.
