Won't Recognize
I Have z3v D6708 on windows 10 and i can't get sony companion to recognize it either. PC keeps installing MTP USB Drivers and I also downloaded other drivers from XDA specifically for this phone and it still won't recognize. Tried unisntalling all drivers and seeing if the Sony Companion would find the phone and it wont. It always installs and recognizes the phone as an Xperia Z3v and shows up in the windows 10 phone companion but not with sony.
From that point I'm pretty much unable to get anything to flash or work. I'm stuck on Kitkat 4.4.4. I just got this phone and updates straight from verizon don't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Win 7
Just tried Xperia Companion on Windows 7 Enterprise with the same results. It will not recognize the phone.

Not working for me.
Mac OSX 10.11, Verizon SIM card, Giga's 5.1.1 rooted, tried both USB connection modes.

I have XP 32bit as well and no problems with PC Companion. First try uninstalling PC Companion. If it won't help, try different computer.

Maybe you have moved the firmware files to another location.
Try to delete pcc and all files and folders related then install again.

Tried and failed.
SEUS states my device has the latest firmware and won't even give me the option to reinstall.

Can you attempt a repair and see if it works?
I realize you don't want to reformat your device but I can't figure out why it works up until the point of flashing and then fails.
Er... Id rather not try. "don't try to fix what is not broken. Reinstall the pcc and make sure you have admin privileges and try again. Also make sure you try other usb ports because some ports may be legacy usb or broken. Your XP also needs to have service pack 2 minimum.

That is for native android tethering. PCC should work on Windows XP for Sony Ericsson dial up modem.

I can't find any function in PC Companion for that, according to me there is no option for Android phones in newest PCC anyway, as Android already includes that.

I used the PCC included with my X8 and use it with a remote PC wearing windows xp. I had to keep USB debugging on. Well, that's an old story now I have Windows 7 & 8.
To OP, try PDAnet or similar to work
Thanks all for your replies ... i believe the usb tethering is possible with win XP, as when i turn it on, windows xp detects a new hardware. however since the driver is not available the modem cannot be installed.
with win7 its just a breeze...!
That's the thing, there are no proper drivers for Windows XP.

[Q] X10 debug drivers for Windows 7

I have looked for debug drivers for my Xperia X10 on Windows 7 but can't find any.
Windows sees the phone and I can use the USB storage option.
However, I can't get it to connect to ADB for debug in Eclipse.
Have no problem on my (old) XP machine.
The drivers on the Sony-Ericsson site don't seem to support Windows 7.

I downloaded Bridge for Mac and used that to update.
It asked me about java since I have got that on my mac but it just didn't update. I had to use Windows to update my phone

I updated it through Bridge but after unlocking the bootloader, it is back to good old FlashTool for me.
I prefer FlashTool btw.
I did it with success only via Bridge...
I did it using Bridge for Mac as well

just a curiosity... why if we use it we don't need to set the device by using the Windows' procedure?

My Bridge for Mac didn't even detect the Xperia ZU. I tried reinstalling it but nothing changed. So I borrowed a friends' windows laptop to update the software, successfully.

[Q] Ubuntu not recognizing the Z2

The topic tells the story I guess. On Windows I have no problem with connection no matter USB debugging is on or off. However under Ubuntu, I can not connect the device. It just not recognized. I have never had such problems with any of my android devices in the past.
I Googled a little but nothing I found helped. Hope there are other people using their computer with Ubuntu 14.04.
Ps: I am not an expert on Linux but I was able to solve some problems.
Thanks

So, if understood correctly you can connect your Xperia Z2 device to your Ubuntu 14.10 PC without making any workarounds?

Exactly, I just plug it in and it always worked. Maybe it is because I have adb and fastboot installed, I think they come in an android pack (I don't remember the package name).
