Any chance to get HD Netflix on unsupported devices? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody.
I recently bought an Android TV box for about 35$ called MXQ Pro. It's a good piece, everything works fine but.. Netflix doesn't support HD for this device or any other TV box as I understood. Is there any way to get HD enabled on this TV box or I'll be stuck at 480p until Netflix changes his policy regarding this matter? It's really a shame for Netflix, didn't expect that at all (it may sound strange for some of you but I'm italian and Netflix has been here only from few months)

Android tv box

Hello
I have been looking around on the net, for a android tv setup. There are some tempting devices from China. I found a couple on Dealextreme and amazon uk, with cortex a9 processor. Does anyone have any experience with these devices.
I want to use it for video playback (replacing ac ryan) and running emulators. I would also like to know if i would be able to use it with a bluetooth dongle, since none of them have bluetooth build in.
Thanks
Hi,
Got the same idea. I've just bought a nice 1080 LED TV and would like to find a nice TV box to reproduce my media.
I was thinking to buy the HTC media link DG H100, which is now at a nice price of 49 Euros, but found a few Android 2.3/4.0 TV boxes at Ebay (50 to 100 Euros) and was thinking if they would actually work.
I would like to know if they actually reproduce internet videos at a decent speed.
I may try and see...

4K TV Arriving Today

I have a JVC 65" 4K TV arriving today and am wondering what the best Android mini pc or stick would be to play 4K content on it. The TV itself unfortunately doesn't have any of the smart apps so I can't stream Netflix or Amazon 4K (the fact that I got the TV for $1,299 makes up for that) and I know their Android apps don't currently allow it either, but I figured I could install Ultraflix or YouTube on a 4K capable box and am wondering which is the best. Right now my research is leaning me towards a box with a Amlogic S812 chip. Any other suggestions?

Bought a chromecast last week.... And must say I'm impressed . screen mirroring works exactly like mhl did with my m7 if not better. (And it still only in beta status)
1080p looks amazing used it throgh popcorntime app on phone and thought laptop.
I do not have a 4k TV so wouldn't be able to tell you about how well this works.
My sister was so impressed to she bought one the next day to go with her s6.
Hope this helps

Prime video and android TV box

Hi all,
I've tried to search in this forum and around internet getting different information
I'm android mobile user and my smart tv doesn't have prime video app, I'm looking to find a way to enjoy prime video on my TV
I'm oriented to buy a cheap android box cbut I still didn't catch if prime video is supported or not example x96 mini or mxq and similar (less than 20 euro as target)
a comment I've found on xda:
"Amazon Prime ATV will not work on any Android TV device except Nvidia Shield TV and maybe a few Android TV like Sony. Most, not all, subscription services apps like Amazon Prime and Netflix require Widevine L1. The KII Pro only has Widevine L3"
other comments from the web: "prime video will run but only in 480P"
Have you any experience?
Thanks!

There is a guide on adding Widevine L3 for netflix, it should be somewhat similiar.
Do you think it's only a matter of wideline certification?
Is there any suggestion which product is ready or can be hacked for the purpose?

Fire TV Apk for Hulu?

I was at a friends house and noticed that their Fire Tv has a vastly updated version of Hulu vs our barebones version on the shield tv. Has anyone attempted to port the Fire Tv version of Hulu to the shield tv? I love the device(read hardware) but I wish the app support was a bit better.
Apologies if this topic has been beaten to death I tried searching but came up short.
I know on a normal Android box not one that's actually Android TV you can run their version of the apk you just have to have Amazon app store installed. Try installing their store on the shield and installing from them? Maybe that'll work?
