Charging problems - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

Hi
Just received my P9000 and updated to the new OTA 20160419 right away.
My problem is that I can only charge the phone once, then I have to do a power off to be able to recharge it.
I have tried with both standard USB charger, a "real" USB-C charger and QI. The results are the same.
When the phone is power-off the charging works as expected, so the hardware seems OK.
Anyone else seen anything like this or am I just the lucky owner of a defect phone?
Regards
Jakob

Sounds like a defective unit to me. Perhaps try first with another USB-C cable (see other thread on the dodgy cable Elephone ship the phone with) before sending phone back.

I would advice the same. Seems like a faulty device. First try using a different charging cable, I am pretty convinced that should help.
If not, its a hardware related problem I guess

I have tried with both other cables and with 2 different QI chargers. Same result. I have send a question to the reseller.

I updated my phone ....(elephone p9000lite ) few days ago and that was the point charging problem wosen .....24hours of charging only to give 35 %...plz help

Same problem phone had updates now phone won't charge unless turned right off can any one help

New Charging Port - Still not charging!

Just replaced the charging port on my ATT SGII i777. Still not charging. Any ideas on what to try next?
The charge port I bought was for a i9100 but I was under the impression that they were interchangeable:
I've tried several chargers so I'm pretty sure it is not the charger,

Cable? Have you tried a different charging cable?I know it sounds ridiculous but I remember someone posting that fixed their issue.

Yes. Charger and cables. tried like 4 different one including two samsung ones.. I also plugged it into the computer and it is not detected at all.
After my original post, I noticed that my cellular service wasn't working either. Cleaned up the old port with a good dose of rubbing alcohol and a soft toothbrush and put it back in. Charger still not working but the cell service is back.
The markings on both boards say GT-i9100 and rev2.2 but the original says R.B82 and the replacement says says R.B84. I doubt that means anything.
Any other ideas or testing to do? Luckily I ordered an external charger and extra battery so I am not dead in the water.
Just a quick update - I bought several other charging ports before I finally found one that works. The one that worked was on ebay from muchbuy-outlet. I emailed them prior to purchasing. They said it would work and it did. Here is the link will expire at some point...

I tried this one from ebay and it did not work (can't post link so it's ebay item # 330880743336
Im thinking of trying the one you linked. Could I ask when you bought your GS2? I got mine about a mnth after it came out. If you got yours at the same time maybe ill take the risk of buying another board.

you know, I didnt use my i777 for 6 months, and I went to charge it and it wouldnt charge... It would just sit there with the captivate lights blinking rapidly like it wanted to start, and didnt... Long story short, I took the battery out of my i777 and used my t989 as a temporary charger just to get some juice in there (to about 10 %) and switched it back to the i777 and the i777 charged it no problem after that. I think there could be an issue with the i777 firmware which doesnt charge a battery that has gone to complete dead.
I have no issues charging or connecting to adb now

It is because the usb port that we have on our phone is not that great. Before I got my port fixed by Samsung, it would not be able to charge an empty battery, but now it is fine. Although sometime when the battery get too hot, it just through the phone in a loop of charging just enough to boot then shut down again.
You need I9100 gt model Rev 2.3 to replace sgh i777 At&t usb flex cable.
I just changed mine. Mine was rev 2.3. I got mine ebay at the "Cellphone-Repair-Shop" Search for "usb flex cable i9100 gt" model. It has to be the Gt model and it has to be The rev 2.3. So ask your seller before you buy. I believe the cellphone repair shop only sells 2.3.
I did put the Non-GT model in first because I read several reviews that it would work if I bought it from a specific store. This turned out to be a misplacement of many reviews. I am returning that one tomorrow. The wrong one charged for a day. Then nothing... and it caused all kinds of reception problems. Pretty much made phone useless.
Now with the Gt model in, when I connect to computer (wouldn't work before) it reads in explorer that this is a i9100 gt model phone. I do believe it is the new usb port that causes this to be read as a Gt i9100 and not the warning screen caused by rooting.
I wonder if this will cause any problems when flashing roms or anything else like otg usb mounting.

Bud,
When I plug in my charger the charging circuit goes on and off. I have a tone that dings once (or makes a "BEDUP' sound) indicating the charger is charging and it sounds like a bell indicating that the charger circuit connects and disconnect even before the BEDUP sound can fully complete! LOL Well instead of just one 'bedup' sound it bedups then bedups again! and again etc. The actual indicator on the battery icon goes on then off in sync to the bedups. I suspect its the dock connector charging port but am not positive. I have two I777's; the second one charges fine with the same usb cable so the cable is ruled out. I also had trouble using ODIN and getting my drivers to load in windows "Intermittently", but only on the SUSPECT I777.
Sometimes I can get it to charge by holding the USB cable either pressed upward or downward but it I change pressure at all it will go out.
Were the actual metal strips on your dock connector worn out? That is what I am thinking my issue is. If so It will require another charging port.
After reading your post an reevaluating my issues I am even more sure it is the charging port, but would appreciate any input you may have about your experience!
Thanks for your input!

Hey, thanks for the info.
My i777 device has the same issue. But the item in the above link does not ship to my country.
So I checked on ebay for another S2 REV 2.3 usb flex cable and found this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140959296482
But in the cable you have bought it says "R.CB4 28 GT-I9100 REV2.4" and on my selected cable it says "R.CA4 GT-I9100 REV2.4"
Is that a big difference or should I not worry about it?
Thanks!

Sorry I missed this but anyone having this issue should first try cleaning the port with a small brush (soft toothbrush or I used these: http://www.dentek.com/product/144/easy-brush-cleaners/) dipped in isopropyl alcohol. That may help (or not). If that doesn't solve the problem, you are going to need to swap out the charging port. -- Bud

It was hit or miss for me. I ended up buying tow before getting the 3rd to work. I finally emailed several sellers and bought one from a seller that told me it would work with the AT&T version and luckily it did. -- Bud

[Q] My S3 is not charging

Like a week ago my S3 9300 was taking longer and longer to charge now it won't charge at all, now is always stuck at 0% if i turn it off it will charge but very very slowly, i don't know if it's the phone or the battery maybe someone here had the same problem and could help me out a little, btw i have it with CM 10.1 thank you
Alejo
Had the same exact problem with my i9300, got it out of warranty repairs yesterday. Was using a custom rom, but the same thing happened when I finally managed to flash it back to stock (had to manually press the microusb-cable as hard as I could into the phone all the time in order to get the phone recognized while Odin was working, was the longest flash ever lol..).
Remember reading about cold solder joints etc before sending it off, so if your phone is out of warranty for some reason you could replace the charging port yourself. Replacement part costs ~5$ (eBay) and if you got the skills it shouldn't be too hard to replace.
EDIT: Actually mine didn't even charge when power off, so I was pretty certain it was a bad solder joint or some other physical problem.. Have you tried cleaning the usb port with pressured air or just blowing into the port? Could be some pins of the usb port blocked with debris. Also check your usb cables, there are those with 5 pins and those with only 4. Saw the difference in charging speed while the thing was still working.

Well actually when i plug the phone into the PC it will recognize it and i can access the files in the SD card and Internal Memory and everything at the moment it's turned off and it's charging.
I have the problem that the phone only want to charge with soms chargers.
I can connect the phone to the original charger or to a pc or any device without problems, the phone will charge.
Even with an old blackberry charger (only 2 wires, no data) and car charger can i charge without any problem!
But when i connect the phone to the htc charger of my old phone, or to an iphone charger i see the phone is connected but it won't charge.
When i open batterymonitor i see that the charger is connected, but the phone still use his battery.
I tried this with all kinds of charders and all kinds of micro usb cables. Then i thaught there was maybe a resistor or chip or something build in some chargers, because i couls only charge with chargers with 2 wire cables.
Then i took a usb extension cable and i disconnected the two data wires so only the + and - 5V cables were left,
but still no success. If anybody knows where the problem is, please let my know
with kind regards! Martijn

[Q] SGS3 Won't Charge!

I know you guys have probably seen a thread like this a million times, but I know exactly what the problem is, but I have no idea as to how to fix it. The problem is in the phone's charging port itself, I need to get this repaired as after noticing that using the Galaxy Charging Current app, depending on the position of the USB cable, a different current is being supplied (all USB cables & Chargers wiggle around, they used to be held in solidly). Of course I have tried tens of other ways to find out what the problem is, and I know it's this for sure.
I'm based in the UK and I didn't buy the phone from a normal shop such as car phone warehouse, so does anyone know where I can get my phone fixed?
Thanks in advance!:good:

Not sure where to get it fixed but have you thought of buying a spare battery and charger? I have a separate battery and charger and hardly ever charge my phone directly with the charger. When one battery runs down I swapp them over done no waiting for my phone to charge

Help with Xperia Z2 USB connector

Hello, first of all apologize for my English.
My Xperia Z2 has problems with the USB connector, I know you have some reports of this, but I think I have not found any solution yet. He is almost 3 years old, I think it is normal to present problems, but I still do not want to change my cell phone.
I am having serious problems trying to connect it with the charger via usb, I have to wrap the cable around the device, pull to see if I find a way to connect it, when it connects and starts charging, after a while it starts to hurt Contact again.
When I bought the phone, I used a magnetic charger, but because it was not original cables, it went wrong and I decided to use it for the same cable. I saw that some problems occur because of connecting the magnetic to the opposite, but it has almost 2 years that I do not use and the cell phone always charged normally.
Any solution?
Hey,
I started to have the same issue until it stopped altogether. I had to disassemble my phone last week to fit a replacement LCD and digitizer, and noted that my USB connector had actually snapped off from the logic board!
~TL/DR~ The simple solution is to make use of the magnetic charger. You can get the official charging dock or cables. Both are cheap enough, easy to use and charge the device rapidly.

Has anyone successfully recovered from the sudden no charging/USB connection issue?

I'm wondering if anyone has suffered with and recovered from the sudden case of no charging/USB>PC recognition?
I've seen countless similar stories across the web, covering many of the Z Family. Some were simple reset jobbies, and I've seen as in-depth as what I'm assuming is an IC being removed, flux cleaned and re-applied (w ww .you tube. com/watch?v=ZyCeNfc99a0).
I purchased a new charger port and also a new battery, as I figured with all the insane constant burning of my pocket, it could use a new one. I'd hoped it was just a charger port issue, but much to my dismay, the issue still persists after fitting them.
I've tried every single button combination "fix", and all to no avail. Multiple leads, charger units, all that polava. Checked and cleaned connections with isopropyl alcohol, checked for burned-out looking mainboard components, at least those that are visible.
I was having minor inconsistent charging issues for a while, up until last Friday. I figured it was the USB port on the phone or the leads, and put it down to general wear and tear.
Last Friday I was at my mates house with super low battery, popped it on charge round his and I noticed it had died completely and kept boot cycling, like the charger was being plugged in and taken out over and over.
I took it out and tried it when I got home with the regular charger, and nothing. My phone is otherwise in mint condition and has been looked after since day one release in the UK.
I'm wondering if some super helpful person here would possibly have some other alternatives that haven't been mentioned, whether a hardware bypass or some trick that isn't amidst the countless cries for help out there.
Many thanks in advance.
Hello,
I have a problem when connecting to a charger it will go in strange charging mode that actually does not charge. It makes the sound like a charger is connected, no charging animation on battery though...
The problem for me it was the USB cable used for charging (i have changed 5 of them in 1 and a half years). Also same behavior happens when using a under 1A wall charger.
P.S. : The USB cables that i have changed they still work fine with other devices/phones .... but not with my Z5C. I`m not sure what but is definetly something wrong withe phone usb port (and it is not dirt).
no, but
I cannot get a usable USB connection to my computer, but if I hold Volume Up while connecting the USB cable to the computer, the charger LED turns red for a moment, then blue. It WILL charge in this mode, which I think is fastboot mode. Someone said it bypasses the charge circuitry or software, which makes me think that maybe I could go into developer mode and turn on OEM unlocking to see if I can stop it from trying to optimize charging. I also have not tried all the USB connection modes yet.
I tried to charge with this blue light technique on the wall charger, but that did not work. Just ran the battery down again and I could not boot the phone.
I know if I press Volume Down while connecting the USB cable to my computer that the charger LED turns green, but I am not sure it will charge in that mode. I think this is for flashing or something, but since my computer does not recognize the USB device no matter what I do, I don't think flashing is an option.
Oh, and when I do charge the phone with the blue light special (old obscure USA discount retailer reference), for some reason the charger LED flashes white every 4 to 5 seconds, but it seems to keep enough charge to get me through at least the day until I can charge again by same method.
Maybe we can keep pooling info here. I got the blue light technique from someone else on this site, so there are people here who know quite a bit about this phone, thankfully.
Well, I had that issue, too (at least it sounds pretty familiar).

Does your phone also believe to be connected to "something" all the time?
I fear there is some IC fried, although I never dared to open my phone.
My "solution" was to talk my local salesman into giving me a (used, but working) replacement phone, and I did not want him to find any traces of DIY
So, no, I never found a technical solution, probably they just scrapped my phone for spare parts, idk.
The root cause for my error (probably) was a faulty charger, therefore I am pretty sure I fried something hardware-like, but depending on your cause, ymmv.
Anyway, trying to clean your USB port, re-soldering the connector and/or replacing the battery sounds like being worth a try, anyway.
// edit: "cat /sys/class/power_supply/usb/present" used to always output 1, even when not connected. On my now-good Z5C this works like it should (connected ->1, not connected -> 0)
Hey people. I have tried all the tricks for several days. Tried several charging cables. Nothing worked for me. I just brought a new phone, and it came with a cheapo charging cable. Decided to plug it into my Xperia and it worked. Maybe a little fairy fixed my phone when I was out buying a new one. Anyway, I'm love my Xperia Z5. Using it right now. Good luck people
