I want to buy LG V10 - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi , I want to buy LG V10 , I am using LG G2 and I am very happy with it and I used V10 in technology market and I definitely love it , I love it all but everybody say its battery life is horrible
I want to buy it too much .
Is there any rom or kernel or anything you suggest me ? Or can we change resolution of the V10 .

Not that horrible. 4,5h SOT is common, sometimes I have 5h+.
Changing the rather resolution won't help

There are different deals out there for the phone depending on who you use for service. For the extra battery and charger, if you purchase both from LG on the same invoice, you will end up paying $20 /set.

Thanks but ı am from Turkey
Everything here is very expensive because of the taxes ..
Even breathing
But i will buy battery and battery charger . They don't give any gift with phone (i mean sd card and battery)

Iv'e had same doubts about battery...all I can say BUY IT!
After few days battery kinda calibrate and it's decent. I don't see the point of this high res. screen and bad batteries, you buy phone with good screen and u have to lower light on it ;D
But if battery is ur only problem I would say BUY IT!

I love the phone. The battery is not any worse than any other high end phone. I get a day out of it easy. I don't do anything to conserve, especially since it I do run out, it has options. Either fast charge, or just pop the other battery in!

Yeah everybody says thia calibrate thing ,I agree with you , LG must stop 3000 mah fantasy ..
Yes only problem is battery other things are perfect for me .

I get through the day with one battery. The second battery gives peace of mind. The LG V10 lasts longer than my previous HTC M8. The M8 got good reviews regarding battery life, so I don't know why the V10 gets rather mediocre reviews in that field. Also the phone is exactly the same weight as the iphone 6s plus. I haven't seen one review where the 6s plus is called heavy. But for the V10, it comes up a lot.
So my advice: never make up your mind after reading reviews. Go to the store, try it out. The V10 was never on my buy list, but now that I'm using it daily, i find all the reviews inaccurate, i would rate it much higher. The V10 deserves much more attention and market share for what it provides.

[Q] Oneplus one comapred to HAM2

Hello,
I am thinking of buying a new phone for my dad. I already have the HAM2 and I have been really satisfied with it particularly its battery life. I have never had to worry about my phone's battery draining which used to be a huge burden.
I'm aware that 1+1 has specs that are superior to the HAM2 and all that come just at the additional cost of $50.
Here are the things I would like to know about the 1+1 before I commit myself :
1. Battery Life - The 1+1 comes with a 3100mAh battery while the HAM2 comes with a 3900mAh. I'm not a heavy phone user. I usually charge my HAM2 every 4 days. Using proportionality, the 3100mAh battery should last for 3 days if the 3900mAh lasts for 4 days. But, obviously, I didn't take into account that the 1+1 has a 2.5GHz processor (compared to the 1.6GHz) and also a higher resolution which might further lower the battery life.
2. Heating - I used to own a samsung S3 own and I could used it to fry an egg. That was how hot it used to get. I've never had any heating issues with the HAM2 even when its compared to the far more expensive S5.
Has anyone here used the 1+1 and can comment on the two points above and also any other reason why I should buy the HAM2 instead of the 1+1?

Had both, kept the Ham2, sold the One. NOTHING wrong with it, but I had the Ham2 for over a week before I finally got the invite for the One (first week of July). I wasn't sure if I would like the "low specs" of the Ham2, but, it's solid performance, the bigger screen and that awesome battery life won me over. My OnePlus also had the "yellow screen" issue, which I resolved myself by a combination of a UV light and running it from time to time. Sold it to one of my best friends and she absolutely loves it. I came to the conclusion that you don't need a high end device to have a good experience. Couple a great screen, a good processors and an incredible battery, win win. I've had no issues running any app on my device, but I'm not into 3D games or any games, just apps that I use for work. Either device will work for you. Depending on the age of your father, he might prefer the larger screen and size of the Ham2, but on the other hand, as you know, it's a BEAST, and might prefer the smaller size of the OnePlus. Either way, it's a win win.
Lol, my dad was tempted to buy a HAM2 but bought a 1+1 on one of its "no invite necessary" days.
Generic answer, but it all comes down to what he wants. The 1+1 is a great phone at a great price making it great value, although it has a smaller screen (which may be a plus) and battery. The HAM2 is probably the best of its kind, save for the Nexus 6, but its battery destroys everything else out there.
I had the 1+1 for 4 months before getting the HAM2. I needed to move off the one plus because my company uses airwatch for corporate email and it didnt like cyanogen at all. Even though the one plus wasnt rooted... it showed up as compromised because of cyanogen. so I went looking and got the HAM2. I love it... and people ask me all the time if I wish i could still use the one plus. Answer: no... the screen size and battery life of the HAM2 is awesome... I dont need 1080p resolution either.. i dont even notice it. the HAM2 does everything i need it to do including playing some games.
Just my $.02

Swap G3 for Moto X

I'm starting to think more and more about selling my G3 and getting a 2nd Gen moto X. After watching Droid Lifes video tour of lollipop on the G3, it looks like they didn't change anything. The biggest thing I was waiting for was the new notification feature. Sounds like LG decided to not fully integrate that in. It looks like I could sell my Verizon G3 for around $300 and buy a Moto X for $400 to $500. Can anyone talk me out of it?
The bootloader will probably go locked forever. idk whether that matters to you or not and who cares about what stock does. Our awesome devs are capable of a lot!

I've got both, as it seems you do, too.
Three G3 has an infinitely better camera, and for many uses, a much better display.
I personally would keep the two different phones for the ability to use whichever one best meets my needs as circumstances dictate.

I only have the G3 right now. I know the camera and screen are better but I rarely use the camera where I need a really good picture. The other thing I would wonder about is battery life. Maybe I'll just stick with the G3 for another year.

Not being able to put a microSD card in is the deal killer for me. I wouldn't buy any phone with less than 64GB of internal storage if it didn't have a microSD port.

I looked at a lot of phones before I picked up the G3. I was tempted to get a Moto but that was the thing I had a problem with. I considered the Moto Droid Turbo that you can get in 64GB, but ONLY the "Ballistic Nylon" style, which is affected by heat if left inside a hot car. Along with the phone being physically bigger than what I wanted, and I think the Turbo doesn't have optical stabilization on the camera like the X does, overall the G3 had the least amount of turn-offs especially when it became cheap or free.
I also wasn't sure how MUCH I would like such a stock Android experience on the Moto. I would have to play with one to see what bells and whistles Motorola does add since I'm not positive what things that used to have to be added to Android are now stock. Like being able to pull the status bar down on fullscreen apps. Other little things potentially.
The only questionable thing about the G3 before I got it was how the battery life is affected by the screen resolution. Well, the battery life in my G3 is better than any Android phone I've previously owned. It's helped by the fact I picked up a tablet at the same time, so I do all my in-car music and GPSing on the tablet, and any quick browsing on the couch, too, so I really don't have the screen on very much and my wife and I are anti-social so we're on the phone only once or twice a week.

I'd say the best thing about the G3 is the battery. I've never had a phone last all day with my normal use. I am a high school basketball and track coach so I could have my phone on without charging from 8am to 10 pm. It usually lasts that whole time as long as I'm not in a small town with no service and metal box for a gym. The second best thing is the screen.

It's a decent speaker. I don't buy my phone for the speaker though. I usually have headphones or Bluetooth speaker.

So I have been reading/watching a lot about HTC M10 and it got me thinking...

So my G5 is out for fault replacement and all these HTC M10 comparisons/hands on videos are starting to make think twice about keeping my G5.
Dont get me wrong, I really like my G5 but with all those QC issues and not so promising development future(at the moment) compared to factory unlocked bootloader = more development potential, solid build quality, and on-paper superior audio quality(without needing a module) is not making it easy for me to decide wether to keep my G5 or swap for HTC M10.
What are your thoughts on this, are any of you thinking of jumping ships ?

dude.... that sucks! I haven't had any of the issues others are experiencing but that's not to say I didn't almost return it. I bought it for the B&O HiFi module and now that I've learnt the US variants aren't supported it makes me wonder why I even jumped from my v10... but that battery life with no tweaks is insane for me so for that alone I'm gonna keep this one.

Indeed, the battery life is totally insane on G5. Also they are charging £149 for that module over here in UK which is quite insane. I would rather buy a better quality stand alone DAC then this one OR HTC has one built it and since I am an avid music listener this is a plus point for me.

yup early impressions were positive for this phone to but i think im going to cancel my preorder and preorder the htc 10. everything looks better with the htc from design to internals. i think lg dropped the ball with the phone by trying to do to much. sometimes when you try to do to much you dont do enough were it counts.

brah the hifi module was one of the big reasons i was going to buy this phone to. the htc 10 is sounding like the better phone and at a cheaper price. i think im going to cancel my preorder even though i was getting it hoping it to be unlocked on verizon, the b&h photo version. the only thing im really i dont really like is that the htc doenst have an always on display and the battery is not removable. but htc claims 2 days use on the battery so that will be nice.

I must have got an unusual build then, none of those issues. Rock solid and the dual cameras are amazing for photos.
The LG G5/HTC 10 has also an 24-Bit Build-in DAC.
The B&O Modul has an 32-Bit Build-in DAC.
Reviews are going to be out today for HTC 10, cant wait to see how this phone actually performs.

I was so stoked for the G5 as it was my step back into Android but the light bleed and gap between the battery portion of my unit were just too much. Buyer's remorsed in 2 days and back to a 6s. But the 10 could be a winner.

Phone worth buying now?

I'm fed up with the growing size of modern smartphones, and really miss the good old days of sub 5" displays. Someone recently pointed out that the Galaxy Alpha was one of the last 4.7" phones that tried to be somewhat "premium" rather than watered down minis. I have to say, the Alpha does appear to check off a lot of my boxes re: what I'm looking for, but I have 2 somewhat major concerns:
1) Support seems nearly non-existent, with last official firmware ending at 5.0.
2) BATTERY APPEARS TINY. I mean, ridiculously small- even my last 4" phones had 2000+mah batteries. I used to carry spares for my Galaxy S4, and that was easily 50% more than the OEM on this thing.
I could deal with #1, 5.0 isn't that bad and I see there's some Cyanogen love up in here somewhere. The second issue is more concerning to me- I see there is a kit to extend the battery with a larger capacity cell and back, but I'm not sure if that's just a "good-enough" solution if you already owned the phone, or if it really is reliable enough to use going into this from the start. What do you guys think? Is there anything else perhaps I should be considering?
Elegant piece of hardware. Reliability, screen quality, weight, speed etc. all great... It's a great phone, but i you like AOSP / Cyanogenmod and/or hate Touchwiz, you'll have to deal with call quality anda camera problems when you install ROMs.
Battery is not an issue for me. Maybe because the resolution is 720p "only".
Light weight is a major plus for me. 115 grams!!!
Hi,
I've bought mine from a eBay seller from China. Paid US $195.00 for it. Quite happy as i was looking to buy a Alpha from some time. Charcoal Black. Indeed the battery lasts a bit quickly, but after i changed some settings, it holds almost for a day. Managed to buy the 2500 mAh battery + extended battery cover Samsung kit from a Estonian online store a few days ago. Totally happy now
(PS: Regarding the Samsung support, the Alpha may get Marshmallow, but it will be the last device to receive it, maybe around December 2016, early 2017...)
Hey Dishe,
I won't talk about the specs, just my personal experience.
I have my Alpha for over a year now and it's still snappy and satisfies all my needs. Because of it's elegant design, and the fact that it's a pretty rare phone, people think it's a new model. I like that the screen is 4.7" because I can use with one hand and don't even feel it in my pocket.
The only thing that bugs me a little is the small 1800 mah battery. Now my battery is pretty old and on moderate usage it can make it through the day, but When I'm heavy on maps, youtube and games I have to charge it twice, so powerbank is a must. You can flash duki994's kernel and undervolt the cpu to lower the power consumption, I'm planning on doing that.
I think this is still the best small android out there and to me it feels more premium than new flagship phones.
@RaceJay can you pm me with that estonian website where you got the 2500 mah battery kit?
yeah i have mine for 2 years .. iam fully satisfied .. as all people here the battery is the problem .. but guess what happened ,, 2 days ago i bought 3 batteries from a store .. i opened 3 alpha phones and bought 3 original batteries , i dont care what will this guy do .. but as a pro in android and samsung phone iam sure 100% original .. 3 batt fro 90$ and now iam using one and playing doom 3 on medium graphics it lasts 3 hours .. without any heating problems ..i took 2 batteries for me and one for my gf ...
yeah its worth buying ,, iam not like idiot people who buy every year a phone and they dont know what is the meaning of phone and os .. just for showing off .. i have 2 galaxy alpha phones one is doing my job and the other i left it for any accidental issues ... w.r.t roms .. xda forum has many roms and kernels so its not necessary to find a popular phone other alpha ... i have every thing .. tchaw
Wondering the same. But I heard the CM ROMs aren't very stable.
Yes, very good phone.
Can you give me the link with the info about MM for Alpha? Where you have seen it?
You could consider the xperia z5 compact or x compact. Batteries are non removable but I heard they could have 5+ SOT easily. Only thing is that they are quite ugly.

Moto z in 2018?

I am thinking about buying one but am worried about battery.
What do you say?
I am also thinking about XZ Premium, but that one has low sound quality through headphone jack (typical sony).
Battery life depends on your personal usage. For me the battery on the Moto Z is lacking and I only get about 3 hours sot. That's tiny... But it charges very fast though. Battery life will only get worse with time, so unless you want use these battery mods and make the device as thick as a brick, then I don't think it's a good option.

If you want a phone which can survive a dive in sweet water and you don't plan to use custom roms, go for the XZ Premium. It's got a bit faster CPU(not much, though ) and a 4k display ( too bad it's not AMOLED but only IPS ).
However, if you want a great development life for your phone, take the Moto Z. Our main developer ( @erfanoabdi ) is excellent and we already have completely working 8.1 Oreo-based roms thanks to him.
I personally don't have a reason to upgrade my Moto Z ( I was a device-switching maniac, changing phones every 3-6 months, looking for the best phone up until the moment I bought this one ). The only thing I kinda dislike is the front placement of the fingerprint sensor ( although it's logical since mods go on the back and the phone is just too thin to fit a sensor on the sides) .And that's it.
I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to phones and that is my only "complaint".
The phone is snappy, the display rocks, the camera is great and the development of the phone is spot-on.
As for battery life:
On a stock rom it will probably suck since 2650 mAh is what it is. However, once you get a custom rom on it and after you apply a full black theme like Swift Black for Substratum, the battery life is significantly increased( I get through a day on one charge with ease ) because of how AMOLED screens work.
I also don't know of any other flagship phone this thin ( at only 5.2 mm, it's as thick as an iPhone when you put a bulky case on ) .
In the end, it's all up to you.

Hi.
The worst part of this phone for me is battery life. simply it's terrible. Most times 1.5 - 2 Hours of SOT!
Even with Battery MOD at best i get 3 Hours. (Consider the bulky and heaviness of Battery MOD)
The other parts of phone (Camera, Performance, Software) is petty solid and fine IMO.
Another thing that usually is important for me is the XDA Community is not active enough,
Don't get me wrong, there are some Professional developers for Moto Z but not many and your options for Custom ROMs usually limited to 1-2 ROMs.
I'm considering Xiaomi Mi A1 or OP5t for next year.
:highfive:

What problems are you getting?
Depends on price IMO. Battery is meh but I carry battery pack with me to school so not a big problem. Not all that happy with camera coming from Nexus 5X. It is not terrible but the one on Nexus was better, other then that, speed and everything else is working fine. I still love the look of the phone. Will be keeping it for one more year and maybe think about replacement then.
It's a solid phone. I was using a 6p until it started bootlooping. There's a few Oreo 8.1 ROMs out there and moto mods work for the most part.
Go for the TurboPack or Mophie juice pack.
I found the wifi reception is better after installing an Oreo ROM.
On a good stock-based custom ROM with a good Kernel you can get decent SOT. With the original charger it is also very fast charged up again.
If you have the ability to Charge your phone at work/School then it wont be Problem.
But as mentioned before there are phones with better battery,
Also there are very few good ROMs for the Z which work 100% fine.
If you can pick it up for a good price, go for it. I got mine a year ago for about 250€
Today you can get it (used) for very good Prices considering it still has top notch Hardware.
FYI in my country under 400usd none can beat moto z at least in synthetic bench like antutu, geekbench etc.
Also the cam quite good coming from iphone 6.
If you can find secondhand that still have warranty it will be better as the price drop like a stone(release price over 65p usd)
